Great interview!! Karina Smirnoff, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, and Cheryl Burke talk on the new season, new pros, and more!
We here at PureDWTS could not be more devastated and saddened to learn Sharna Burgess has not been picked as a pro for Dancing With The Stars Season 19. If you need a way to voice this like we do, please fill in the blank in comments and maybe producers will hear our cries!!
We love and will miss Sharna Burgess on Dancing With The Stars and here is why: _______________(fill in the blank).
…..BECAUSE Miss Sharna is one the most lovely, most passionate, most powerful, and most creative choreographers and dancers this show has ever ever had. I will miss her greatly because she is also one of us. She is a caring person and she truly truly cares about everyone. She will forever be one of my most favorite dancers that was ever produced. These pictures say it all for me. Please TPTB, find a way to her include her on this show.
Most of you might know Allison Holker. She is most famous for her work on “So You Think You Can Dance”. She was a dance contestant in Season 2 and an all-star in Seasons 7 through 11. She started her dance training at only 4 years of age at “The Dance Club” studio in Orem, Utah (the same city where Derek began his dance training). She began teaching at the same studio when she was 16. In other accomplishments, she’s performed with Earth, Wind, and Fire at the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2002 Olympic Games in 2002. She also starred in ‘High School Musical’ and ‘High School Musical 2′. Last year, she was nominated for “Outstanding Choreography” in the 2013 Emmy Awards (Heidi’s Note: She was nominated WITH Derek). You might remember the dances below when she danced on Dancing With The Stars in the past and the 2013 Emmy Awards last year. More on Allison at Wikipedia.
As for Keoikantse Motsepe, he was an undefeated South African Latin American Champion in every age category for 8 years. His formal dance training includes Latin American, Ballroom, and Contemporary. He has also performed on South African Idol and in the highly acclaimed dance show “Burn The Floor”. You can read more on Keoikantse at Afridiziak. Videos below. BALLROOM WITH A TWIST REVIEW
Written By: Kathy L. Erdman
On Sunday, August 10, 2014, I had a the pleasure of attending with my dear friend, Lois Troutman, the 2:00 p.m. performance of Ballroom With A Twist at Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA.
We arrived at Fulton Theatre and were treated splendidly by the entire staff at Fulton Theatre. We had front row seats for the performance and believe me we had the best of views.
The show started with the director of Fulton Theatre welcoming the audience and advised that taking photos were permitted, but if you planned on doing so, please share on the Fulton Theater Facebook. The show then began.
The announcer introduced the cast, which consisted of finalists from American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and of course , the featured stars from our favorite show, Dancing With the Stars, Sharna Burgess & Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
The stage was set for an amazing day of song & dance.
Sharna & Val performed with such intricate detail and precision. Watching them dance live, as opposed Read more..
More fun Photos…this time of Dancing With The Stars Witney Carson attending the Television Academy’s Directors Peer Group choreographers celebration held at Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, California Sunday night. You can view more photos of her at Getty Images.
Wow, what a wake up call today! First, we were hit with new photos of Derek Hough at a book signing at The Grove last night at Pure Derek Hough and now check out these new pictures of Gleb Savchenko attending Lionsgate Films’ ‘The Expendables 3′ premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Gorgeous! Be sure to see Getty Images for more.
A couple of interesting interviews with Derek Hough today. First, he was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. Regarding Dancing With The Stars, he said he didn’t know if he’s coming back, but, the season is going to be different and exciting (same as what he’s said in previous interviews). You can listen to the interview at Pure Derek Hough.
KTLA also interviewed Derek today. They mention how they will “very likely find out who Derek is paired up a little later this week”. He’s “not revealing” who it is, but, they “think he knows”. Check out how Derek doesn’t deny anything and the way he signs off with his hand at the end. Not sure how to take that, but, it’s I-N-T-E-R-E-S-T-I-N-G!!!
“Life is a dance, but, it’s much more than mastering the steps. It’s pushing your boundaries, shattering your limits, and exploding in a breathtaking burst of light.”
Above is a quote that touched me while reading Derek Hough’s new book “Taking The lead: Lessons From A Life In Motion”. Isn’t it beautiful? If you want more, and haven’t ordered this book yet, be sure you do here. You’ll learn things on Derek you never knew before including the not so good times. I don’t know how Derek lived through some of them, but he did. Thank goodness!
Be sure you visit Pure Derek Hough as well. Several fans have submitted blogs, pics, and videos from Derek’s book signings this past week. Derek also took pics for a new portrait session while in New York City. We also have gobs of new radio and TV interviews to take in where he talks on his new book and Dancing With The Stars. So be sure to stop in, say Hi, and catch up with all things Derek.
Music legend and much loved Dancing With The Stars contestant, Gladys Knight, is performing at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend. Not only that, and watch out, Dancing With The Stars pros Tristan MacManus, Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov, and Artem Chigvintsev are performing with her too. Below is some coverage from George Pennacchio and ABC7. Great interview and isn’t fun to see them all again?
ETA: The Examiner has an article posted on the show. Below is take about she and the pros they danced. Be sure to see the link for more. LOL to “it was on my bucket list”.
Gladys Knight proved why she is at legendary status in her 75 minute set. The seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has earned number one hits in Pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has also had a career in film, television. Knight showed why she is still in the business after all of these decades and her voice still incredible.
Knight kicked off her set opening the show sitting at the piano and performing “Hard To Say I’m Sorry”. She told the crowd “this is something you never seen me do”. She stated that she wanted to take piano lessons as a child but with there being four kids, her mom could not afford it so her sister Brenda got the piano lessons and she got to sing. She said it was on her “bucket list’ as she played the piano during the show. She then went on to perform “You Should Be Dancing” by The Bee Gees. Back up dancers come on stage to dance and it is Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov and Artem Chigvintsev from “Dancing With The Stars”. Then comes Tristan MacManus who was Knight’s dancing partner when she competed on the hit television show to lead her into a dance routine. She joked afterwards saying “it was on my bucket list”.
Mary Murphy was at the show last night. She posted some fun shots. @JDSwartz posted some instagrams too…
And isn’t his a great shot?!
