One of our readers named Cathy was able to attend Dancing With The Stars Kym Johnson’s “The 5-6-7-8 Diet” book signing in Ridgewood, NJ last week. Below she tells us all about it and what it was like to meet Kym. Note how Robert Herjavec was there as well. Cathy even mentioned our review and PureDWTS.com to Kym. She also sent us some fun photos. With that said, don’t forget to order Kym’s “The 5-6-7-8 Diet” book if you haven’t yet at ReganArts.com and be sure you use the discount code “PUREDWTS” to get $7.00 off the purchase price. Guest Blog On Kym Johnson’s Ridgewood, NJ Book Signing And Photos
On 1/19/16 I had the awesome opportunity to meet Kym Johnson at her book signing at the Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ, with an added bonus of Robert Herjavec making a special guest appearance. Once I purchased her book “The 5 6 7 8 Diet,” we were all directed to go downstairs, where seats were set up for Kym to first give a talk about her book before she would actually begin her book signing. This was a very different set up from when I was there for both Derek Hough and Amy Purdy’s book signings. Within a few minutes, the press…Bergen.com…arrived and took pictures of some fans in the audience before ultimately taking many photos of our guest speaker! Then Kym made her grand entrance, and she was absolutely stunning!! She began to talk about herself…her background, DWTS both here and in Australia, her role as a pro and as a judge, her book and the meaning of 5 6 7 8 in the title, and lots of other interesting facts. Her story was extremely fascinating, and she captured and held our attention for the full 30 minutes she spoke. And her Australian accent…I love it!! Immediately following her talk, there was a Q&A session, which gave us further insight into her life. It was truly wonderful to get to know her. Right after she answered a few questions, it was time for us to meet Kym individually and have her sign and personalize our books. What a real pleasure it was to meet her personally and talk with her! She is such a sweetheart…most gracious and personable. During our conversation I told her that I read a fantastic review of her book by Vogue on PureDWTS, and she acknowledged that she had already seen it and said she was going to thank Vogue! What a real popular website!! I then told her that this was the bookstore where I had met both Derek and Amy for their book signings. A real popular place! Then as I turned around, about to walk away, I could see another line starting to form…this one was to meet a special guest, Robert Herjavec! He had been there throughout Kym’s talk, but remained out of the spotlight…until then! It was great meeting and talking with Robert for a few moments, and he most willingly signed everyone’s books as well. Overall, it was truly a wonderful evening meeting both Kym and Robert and seeing the beautiful relationship between them. I am thoroughly enjoying Kym’s book and am looking forward to seeing her perform on DWTS again!

You all might know Al Kahn aka @Idolxfactor1 as he does a lot of videos for fans during the on and off season of Dancing With The Stars. This past Friday night he saw the Dancing With The Stars Live “Dance All Night” show in Windsor, Ontario. He told us “it did not disappoint” from the amazing sets, the awesome choreographed routines, and the fun audience participation throughout the entire 2 plus hours. He also thought it had clever scripting for how they got Alek Skarlatos involved. Al has written an awesome review of the show at his site. Be sure to read it at IdolXfactor.com. He’s posted a huge gallery of photos and some video too. A must read and see when you get time! If you haven’t seen the show yet, be sure to get tickets here. Photo below courtesy of @Idolxfactor1. THANKS Al!!!
“After watching & promoting dancers for the past 6 years….the overriding message I get from these dedicated artists….they truly adore what they do & when it comes to performance, there is no place they rather be then on stage pouring there hearts out & giving every ounce of emotion they can muster to us!!” – by Al Kahn aka @Idolxfactor1
I don’t remember us posting on this. When I read it this morning, I cried. What a beautiful writing by Tom Bergeron on his hometown, growing up, his family, and how he got to where he is today. From The Boston Globe, “From Haverhill to Hollywood”. A must read….and while you do so, keep in mind Tom wrote this a month before his Dad died….
‘A little shack by the railroad track.”
That’s how my parents would affectionately refer to my childhood home in Haverhill. “Shack” was crucial for achieving the rhyme but inaccurate for describing the house. Built in 1925, it might not have been a mansion, but it was hardly a candidate for Shanty Town. Literally the “last house on the left” on a narrow dead-end street, it had one small bathroom, three modest bedrooms, and, beginning in my high school years in 1971, a comparatively sizable addition that quickly became the home’s social centerpiece.
Not all of the rhyme was exaggerated. We did live near an active railroad track, a winding river, and thick, inviting woods, which, taken together, provided a setting for countless flights of imagination.
As I child, I convinced myself that the adjacent tangle of trees was, at various times, populated by Nazi soldiers, extraterrestrials, Dracula, the Mummy, and Bigfoot. So of course on a given summer’s day, or after a grueling few hours in grade school, I would bravely disappear down its haphazard dirt path to see whether I could find them. I never did. A stray bunny, occasionally, but never a goose-stepper or vampire.
I ran away from that home once. This was due, no doubt, to some cruel indignity foisted upon me by my parents (“No, eat ALL of your vegetables!”). I “ran” about 20 yards to an opening in the brush by the dirt path. I brought with me a pillow, a wind-up alarm clock (a runaway doesn’t want to oversleep), and a peanut butter sandwich….
