DWTS Season 16 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 4 – What do you think?

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” ~Michael Jordan on beating the odds

Sports Bovada has posted their new set of odds for Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Week 4. Though once again, I have to disagree for how they are tying Andy, D.L., and Lisa at 100/1, but, that’s ok because Andy keeps proving this set of odds makers wrong every week…and same with Lisa. D.L. too, but, I don’t think Andy and Lisa belong in the same group or with as low as odds as D.L. in my opinion. Also, what are they seeing in Aly and Sean? I don’t get it? 8O

Zendaya Coleman 8/5
Kellie Pickler 2/1
Jacoby Jones 3/1
Aly Raisman 15/2
Ingo Rademacher 25/1
Sean Lowe 25/1
Victor Ortiz 75/1
Andy Dick 100/1
D.L. Hughley 100/1
Lisa Vanderpump 100/1

Here are last week’s Las Vegas Odds to compare.

Zendaya Coleman 5/2
Jacoby Jones 4/1
Aly Raisman 9/2
Kellie Pickler 5/1
Dorothy Hamill 7/1
Ingo Rademacher 16/1
Sean Lowe 16/1
Andy Dick 75/1
D.L. Hughley 75/1
Victor Ortiz 75/1
Wynonna Judd 75/1
Lisa Vanderpump 100/1

And like in previous weeks, below are the odds from Wynn Las Vegas currently to compare. With an exception to Aly Raisman (who should be in 6th or 7th in my opinion), I think they have it about right. Though I have a feeling Jacoby will win. I also think Andy should be higher at 4th or 5th? I think he can take Victor!

Kellie Pickler Derek Hough 7 TO 2
ZENDAYA COLEMAN Valentin Chmerkovskiy 4 TO 1
JACOBY JONES Karina Smirnoff 9 TO 2
ALY RAISMAN Mark Ballas 5 TO 1
INGO RADEMACHER Kym Johnson 10 TO 1
VICTOR ORTIZ LINDSAY ARNOLD 15 TO 1
ANDY DICK Sharna Burgess 16 TO 1
Sean Lowe Peta Murgatroyd 28 TO 1
Lisa Vanderpump GLEB SAVCHENKO 60 TO 1
D.L. HUGHLEY Cheryl Burke 75 TO 1

Ok, let’s see what our Miss Heidi and Courtney think and be sure to let us know your thoughts on this weeks odds as well in comments…..

Heidi: Well, both sets of Odds have Kellie and Zendaya pretty much neck and neck and I agree with that…although I still think they are neck and neck for SECOND place. :-) Still thinking it’s going to be Jacoby standing up there at the end, but if he doesn’t shine this week I may revise my opinion on that one.   And if it comes down to Kellie and Zendaya, Zendaya will win because of the whole Derek backlash crap perpetuated by the “everyone gets to win” mentality of pee wee baseball – no point in pretending it will be a contest.  She might have won anyway, but it’s so much easier when so many people are voting against the other team because of the pro in the mistaken belief that he “wins all the time”.  I also agree wtih Aly being in 4th place – you have to take into consideration all the other dancers who are left and none of them are really standing out – including Aly – but she has fanbase over the rest of them, I think.  Beyond that…well, I MUCH prefer Wynn’s read on the situation, since they have Sean going out in week 6 and Andy and Victor lasting longer than him. :-)

Courtney: Not a whole lot to add here – I think Kellie & Zendaya tied is about right, and it kind of reminds me of last season at this time, when William & Katherine were at the top of the odds and Donald was much lower, which I think is mirroring the situation with Jacoby right now.  The more and more I mull it over, the more I think that the backlash that Heidi mentioned with Derek, combined with some growing backlash I’m seeing about Zendaya “being pimped”, I think the stage is slowly being set for Jacoby to play spoiler and swoop in to win it all.  As for everyone else – Aly bores me to tears, but I think she too has enough of a fanbase to keep her in for awhile – plus we’re starting to witness some subtle pimpage from the judges.  I think Andy now has MUCH better odds of sticking around than Lisa, D.L, AND Victor, and think it’s going to be either Lisa or Victor on the chopping block this coming week.  Still boggles my mind that people are still voting for D.L. – I find absolutely nothing appealing or redeeming about that man, as all I’ve seen him do is whine, bitch, and moan about the judges “being bullies”, crack painfully unfunny & often inappropriate jokes, and half-ass his way through his routines.  But hey, as we’ve said before: there are some batsh*t crazy fans out there…

New Twist To The Las Vegas Odds For DWTS 16 Week 3 – What do you think?

“I like to be against the odds.” ~Baseball great Barry Bonds on beating the odds

Sports Bovada has posted their new set of odds for Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Week 3. Sometimes I wonder if they even watch the show as they still have Dorothy Hamill listed and at 7/1 odds to win. 8O After seeing such an amazing dance from Derek and Kellie Pickler last week, I’m shocked they have Kellie placed at 4th too. Crazy and in no way should Aly be placed at 3rd. I also don’t think Lisa should not be in last place (should’t that go to D.L.?). Andy Dick’s odds should have risen and not lowered too. Take a look and see what you think….

Zendaya Coleman 5/2
Jacoby Jones 4/1
Aly Raisman 9/2
Kellie Pickler 5/1
Dorothy Hamill 7/1
Ingo Rademacher 16/1
Sean Lowe 16/1
Andy Dick 75/1

PureDWTS A Shake Up In Las Vegas Odds For Season 16 Week 2 – What Do You Think?

Think of success as a game of chance in which you have control over the odds. As you begin to master concepts in personal achievement, you are increasing your odds of achieving success. ~Bo Bennet on beating the odds

Sports Bovada has posted their new set of odds for Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Week 2. As always with the first dance, the odds get shaken up which they did so again. Though I’m shocked the odds makers are putting Aly Raisman so high. Was her first dance really that worthy of a second placing? However, huge kudos to Andy Dick making a big jump. I think Andy is a better dancer than Sean (and more liked), so I hope to see him placed even higher next week?

Zendaya Coleman 2/1
Aly Raisman 7/2
Kellie Pickler 7/2
Jacoby Jones 5/1
Dorothy Hamill 7/1
Ingo Rademacher 15/1
Sean Lowe 15/1
Andy Dick 50/1
Victor Ortiz 50/1
Lisa Vanderpump 75/1
Wynonna Judd 75/1
D.L. Hughley 100/
1

First Las Vegas Odds to compare:

Aly Raisman 7/2
Kellie Pickler 5/1
Zendaya Coleman 5/1
Jacoby Jones 13/2
Ingo Rademacher 7/1
Victor Ortiz 15/2
Dorothy Hamill 9/1
D.L. Hughley 10/1
Wynonna Judd 15/1
Lisa Vanderpump 20/1
Andy Dick 33/1

Also, and for fun, below are the odds from Wynn Las Vegas currently. I think these are really out of whack and I question if they even saw the first dances for how high they put Wynonna and how low they put Zendaya. 8O Also, shouldn’t Victor and Wynonna be placed more at the end? D.L. should be placed last in my opinion.

KELLIE PICKLER Derek Hough 9 TO 2
ALY RAISMAN Mark Ballas 6 TO 1
JACOBY JONES Karina Smirnoff 7 TO 1
DOROTHY HAMILL Tristan MacManus 8 TO 1
ZENDAYA COLEMAN Valentin Chmerkovskiy 9 TO 1
VICTOR ORTIZ LINDSAY ARNOLD 11 TO 1
WYNONNA JUDD Tony Dovolani 14 TO 1
INGO RADEMACHER Kym Johnson 15 TO 1
SEAN LOWE Peta Murgatroyd 20 TO 1
D.L. HUGHLEY Cheryl Burke 25 TO 1
ANDY DICK Sharna Burgess 30 TO 1
LISA VANDERPUMP GLEB SAVCHENKO 35 TO 1

So, what do you make of this week’s interesting shake up in odds? Let’s see what Heidi and Court think too….

Heidi:  I think that the top set of odds has the first five eliminations right, and maybe even in the correct order, although I would be inclined to switch Wynonna and Victor. But after that it gets really tricky. I think someone they have in the top three is going to get bumped for Jacoby, although I’m not AS convinced as Courtney that he will win. I’m hedging. :-) By all rights, based on last week, those ladies should be the top 3 but I think that Aly will get bumped for Jacoby.  As for the middle of the pack? They feel pretty middle of the pack to me. Of course, everything could change in week 3 when they suddenly don’t have as much time to get a dance down. Since they appear to have changed Derek and Kellie’s dance on them well after they learned Jive, they could be in trouble as well. We’ll see! Oh, and as for Wynn…I seem to recall they got last season right at least in the final week – question is, did they have it right all season long? Your odds of calling the final right is pretty easy – you have a 3 in 1 shot at it.  This Wynn odds chart is just a mess. I don’t think they have a single thing right.

Courtney: Zendaya is good, no doubt, but we still have yet to see whether she whether she’ll be able to break the “Disney curse” – I’d say Roshon was just as talented as she was, and that poor kid was in the bottom two seemingly every week.  Haven’t seen anything from Aly yet that makes me think she’s gonna finish that high – and I still think Jacoby is the only shoo-in for the finale, and the most likely to win it all.  As for the bottom of the odds – I think Wynonna probably has a slight edge over Lisa, but other than that, I think they got it about right. Who the hell knows what’s going on at the Wynn – the fact that they think D.L. still has a fighting chance makes me think they’re smoking the wacky tobacky.  :-)

Pure Dancing With The Stars First Las Vegas Odds For Season 16

It’s that time again!!!! Are you ready for the first Las Vegas Odds for Dancing With The Stars 16? Keep in mind before you take a look that the odds makers are almost always wrong in their beginning wagers. Also keep in mind that the odds could get shaken up real soon with a heavily rumored additional 12th couple added to the cast.

So, what have we got? So far, Sports Bovada is forecasting Aly Raisman to win. Maybe this could happen and maybe not, but, I don’t think I would want to be placed first if I was Aly. I also don’t think Andy Dick is going home first. I think he’s going to pull a Nancy Grace and be around for a while. He also reminds me a little of Jerry Springer. I think people might get addicted to he and Sharna’s fun humor and charm especially if, on top of everything, he can dance. I’m kind of worried that it might be Lisa to go home first instead, but, I hope not because I’m already love loving Gleb. :D So, what do you think and look for Miss Heidi and Courtney thoughts after you take a look at these….

Aly Raisman 7/2
Kellie Pickler 5/1
Zendaya Coleman 5/1
Jacoby Jones 13/2
Ingo Rademacher 7/1
Victor Ortiz 15/2
Dorothy Hamill 9/1
D.L. Hughley 10/1
Wynonna Judd 15/1
Lisa Vanderpump 20/1
Andy Dick 33/1

Girls?

Courtney: I agree with Aly for the win, although I think her biggest competition will be Jacoby & Dorothy – so I’m a big puzzled that they aren’t higher.  I could also see Ingo going far and benefitting from the soap vote in much the same way Kelly did last season…especially if he & Kym have enough chemistry to incite some of the nuttier shippers :-P I’m afraid that Lisa will be an early exit, but I’m actually worried that Victor might be the first to go – he & Lindsay just seem to be a little too wholesome & laid back, and I’m skeptical about his boxing fanbase being motivated to vote.  Zendaya? Wayyyy too high, even if she’s really good – Disney kids have generally not been able t0 make viewers really give a damn, even if they’re good dancers.  Just look at Roshon & Chelsea.  And really, Kellie in 2nd??? Just because she’s with Derek? No offense to Kellie fans, but she doesn’t exactly strike me as the sharpest (or most coordinated) tool in the shed.  I’m thinking she may follow more of the path of a Joanna or a Maria than a Shawn or a Ricki.  Interested to see where Sean & Peta fit in once they’re announced…I’m beginning to wonder if they’re going to be an early exit, just due to being a late addition.  That, and the fact that they seem to be a rather bland pairing.

Heidi: Considering that I don’t think the odds makers have EVER gotten it right in the first week, I’m going to say that once again they haven’t gotten it right. I like my odds. :-)  Especially since we haven’t seen them dance. As for Kelly being number 2? I think she will finish in the top 4 or 5 – mainly because she has Derek and he has a record. Again, I think my odds are good. But number 2?? I dunno. There is a lot at play here. Pissed off fans that think he should have, by all yardsticks, have won last season, and the fact that he’s talking about “natural talent” and “hyper-entended legs” like he did with Brooke.  And Kellie herself tweeted that she doesn’t suck as much as she thought she would. All positive signs. But, as we all know, it’s not just about the individual dancers, but the people they are competing against. And I see some powerhouse talent in this cast and some potential fanbase ringers. I think Wynonna and Dorothy could be fanbase ringers, and I think Jacoby probably fits into that category as well.  Ingo? Maybe – but soaps are a dying breed for a reason. Zendaya is a ringer ringer – but she may suffer from the young Disney problem – that being that that age group doesn’t seem to vote.  We’ll have to wait and see if she gets the Chelsea Kane style propping up or not. As for Aly….I just don’t know. She may suffer terribly in comparison to Shawn without the benefit of a  few seasons between them. Can lightning strike twice?? I kinda doubt it.  Expectations are going to be extremely high in week 1 and if she doesn’t get on it right away, she could be in trouble. I doubt VERY much that she’ll get scored as hard as Shawn was, so there’s that. But she has a lot working against her, not the least of which is that this will be Mark’s third Olympian. Let that sink in people who complain about Derek – THIRD Olympian.  And all three are in the right voting demo for DWTS.   I think, all in all, they have the top four right – just maybe not in that order. Put Dorothy up in the top 5 and call it good.

Dancing With The Stars Las Vegas Odds Going Into The Finals – One Of Tightest Ever!

Going into the Dancing With The Stars All Star Finale is a tight one at that. The odds makers at Sports Bovada, have placed their final bets. It’s been an interesting season as they’ve seemed to nail who is going to finish ‘last’ every week. Then again, all season we’ve seen them placing Emmitt Smith at the top to win and well, as you know, he was eliminated last week. So, below are the odds as of right now for who will win the Dancing With The Stars All Stars. I’m in agreement with them this time. I think this is exactly how it will play out….

Shawn Johnson 1/3
Melissa Rycroft 4/1
Kelly Monaco 5/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 7 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 4/7
Emmitt Smith 5/1
Kelly Monaco 15/2
Melissa Rycroft 15/2
Apolo Anton Ono 17/2

Be sure to let us know what you think and how you would place the couples. Let’s get Heidi and Court’s thoughts on the odds too:

Courtney: No arguments here – I still think it’s going to be Shawn’s to lose, with Melissa & Kelly a distant 2nd & 3rd.  I have a feeling Shawn & Melissa will end up pretty close in scores (and both will likely be near-perfect, unless Tony really whiffs this freestyle), and Kelly will likely trail by 3-5 points.  I’m fully expecting the judges to drop the hammer on Kelly, since I don’t think they were expecting her to last through last week’s elim.  When it comes down to the winner, though, I’m fine with either Melissa or Shawn winning  – although I think overall, Shawn & Derek have been the most creative, the best dancers, and the best entertainers this season.

Heidi: I agree that’s the order they SHOULD be in, but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk by any stretch of the imagination. And these odds guys with the 1/3 appear to think it is a slam dunk. If Melissa gets too far ahead in points – like, say, three – because of Shawn and Derek getting docked again for their quickstep, I think it’s a real horse race. I think Melissa could win this – but her routines will have to be spectacular, and by that I don’t mean all lifts. That said, I’m not convinced at all that the judges will dock Shawn and Derek for the quickstep again. They just don’t have a history of doing that. They didn’t for Mark and Chelsea and I’m sure there are others – probably all on Derek and Mark, since those two are the ones who take risks. They tend to loosen up on their own issues in the finale. Not to mention that I have this sneaking suspicion that Derek and Shawn had the quickstep picked FOR them, as did the others. In any case, Shawn and Derek suffer from the “sure thing” syndrome and I hope their fans realize this. Their biggest risk is that people don’t vote because they assume she’s going to win.  That’s the price of creating AMAZING dances all season long. Not to mention that the producers edits of the packages are going to go OVERBOARD on the sob stories of “Tony’s never won…” and “Melissa and Kelly are such underdogs…” blah blah blah. Unfortunately, that crap works on the average Joe.

Dancing With The Stars Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 9 – May Shock You?

Wow! Get ready as the odds at Sports Bovada may shock you this week more than they ever have…atleast that’s how I’m feeling right now? Never did I think we’d see Apolo in last? 8O

Shawn Johnson 4/7
Emmitt Smith 5/1
Kelly Monaco 15/2
Melissa Rycroft 15/2
Apolo Anton Ono 17/2

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 7 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 5/7
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 11/2
Apolo Anton Ohno 9/1
Kelly Monaco 9/1
Melissa Rycroft 40/1
Kirstie Alley 100/1

Unreal. I think the odds makers have it totally wrong this week putting Apolo last. If anyone should be last, shouldn’t it be Kelly or Emmitt? Then again, it’s pretty tight odds for the last three (Kelly, Melissa, and Apolo). Even still, shouldn’t Emmitt be last and at higher odds to go home than the rest?

Let’s get my cohorts thoughts on this to help make sense of it and be sure to let us know your thoughts too in comments.

Heidi: Ugh, if we get THAT as a final three??  Anyway, look at last weeks odds – they had Gilles in the number three spot and he’s GONE. That’s where I will hang my hat. They RARELY get the order right, although by now they do usually have the winner right. I’m not so sure I buy into that this time around, with it being the All Star Season. I’m not quite sure why they think that Kelly should be up that high unless they completely buy into the judges rambling. If that’s the case, why are people who bet on Shawn actually going to OWE them money?? Isn’t that what the odds are saying? If they are going with what the judges say, Shawn shouldn’t be anywhere near the top – or do they see through Len as well as we do?  Anyway, I think the final three is going to be Shawn, Apolo and Melissa, with either Shawn or Apolo winning.  I’m starting to wonder if I’m wrong about Apolo though. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that up front. He’s not getting Ralphed in the slightest – but he also isn’t getting the love I think he deserves, while Kelly is getting far more love than she deserves. But I guess it’s in her ABC contract. :-) She was only one point back from Shawn on the Viennese Waltz and she should have been at least two.

Courtney: I feel like pulling a Joe Pesci in Casino and laying the beat down on whatever asshat is setting these odds :-P No way in HELL do I see Apolo as the low man on the totem pole – and my only explanation is that maybe these oddsmakers are also buying into the judges’ low-balling of him…and OTT praise of Emmitt, Kelly, & Melissa.  Although I have to say, if the judging last week was any indicator – I think the dew is beginning to wear off the rose with Kelly, much in the same way it was with Gilles in previous weeks.  They could have easily copped out and given her 29′s & 29.5′s like Gilles & Apolo – or really gone buckwild and given her 30′s like Melissa.  But they didn’t – they gave her a comparably low 28 & 28.5.  It didn’t make much of a difference in the great scheme of things, since there were so many points factoring into last week’s elim, but just the fact that they actually seemed to call her out on some of her errors tells me that she’s not immune to criticism & lower scores.  But as Heidi has said, week 9 is the week that the judges tend to get real and really show their cards – that is, who they want in the finale.  So I think whatever scoring we see this week is really going to tell us who the judges want in the finale, and who they don’t…and I honestly think they’re going to go for whatever combination they feel will produce the most entertaining finale.  I would think that would have to include Shawn and Apolo, and then I think it will be a toss-up between Melissa or Emmitt.  As almighty and powerful as the soap fans seem to think themselves, I don’t believe for a minute that they can compete with the might of an Olympian or NFL fanbase.

DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 8: Are they wrong or right?

The odds makers at Sports Bovada are convinced Kristie Alley is going home from Dancing With The Stars …and more than ever this upcoming week. Don’t worry though! They’ve been wrong in the past with 100/1 odds, but, unfortunately, they’ve also been right. They also have more faith in Gilles Marini and Emmitt Smith than many fans do.

Shawn Johnson 5/7
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 11/2
Apolo Anton Ohno 9/1
Kelly Monaco 9/1
Melissa Rycroft 40/1
Kirstie Alley 100/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 7 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 10/11
Emmitt Smith 13/4
Gilles Marini 7/2
Apolo Anton Ohno 9/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 40/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

I don’t know what to think, but, I’m pretty sold on the idea that “fan base” is going to determine who wins this competition this time especially after Sabrina was eliminated. If that’s the case, I think Kelly and Melissa (even though I like them) are history this upcoming week….or possibly, and hopefully, my dream elimination GILLES!!! I think Shawn should be first, Apolo should be second, Emmitt should be third, and Kirstie should be fourth.

Let’s see what my collaborators think and be sure you let us know in comments too….

Courtney: At this point, I’m just shrugging & shaking my head when it comes to these odds, because it just seems to me like these oddsmakers are chucking darts at a dartboard to determine their odds.  :-P It still baffles me that they’re so convinced that Emmitt & Gilles have chances that good – Emmitt may have the fanbase, but the judges have shown that they’re not afraid to drop the hammer if his dancing’s not up to snuff; and Gilles may be getting the scores, but now I’m not convinced that he’s getting the votes…we’ve seen very few Gilles trolls leaping to his defense here this season, and I’ve had several fans (some from Gilles’ native France, even) reach out to me on Twitter to tell me just how much they can’t stand his behavior this season.  Literally, I’m baffled as to who is actually voting for Gilles…and who knows, maybe he was the other half of the bottom 2 with Sabrina a few weeks back.  I’m just getting the gut feeling that his number could be up this week, from what I’ve been hearing from fans and from behind the scenes. Or it could be wishful thinking :-P Unfortunately for Kirstie, I’m also getting the feeling she could be leaving us this week – she’s got some tough dances and some not-so-stellar scores from last week to contend with, and she’s still the only one left that we know for sure has been in the bottom 2 before.  As for Apolo – I’m just not sure what to think.  I go back and forth between thinking he’s barely hanging on by a thread, to thinking he’s so safe that the judges feel the need to handicap him a bit.  Kelly & Melissa? Huge question marks for me.  I’m inclined to think that Kelly is getting more votes than Melissa, but I’m also hearing that the fauxmance is wearing thin on some fans and that Melissa may have a bigger fanbase than we think, due to her show on CMT.  Guess we’ll have a better picture after the axe drops twice on Tuesday…

Heidi: I think if they switch Gilles and Apolo they might have it about right – in terms of “top 3″, not necessarily the actual order.  I think Emmitt is going to blow people’s minds this week and get back in the game. At least for his Trio – he has Kym Johnson working with him who I’m giving a lot of credit to – she can choreograph some great stuff for the big guys. Will it be enough to get him to the final three? Well, we are awfully close.  Once you switch Gilles and Apolo – well, I think that’s a rough approximation of who’s ranked where. If they continue to treat Apolo like a second class citizen, he could be in trouble. I’m like Courtney on Apolo at this point – one minute I think he’s going to win it all and the next I think the judges are going to nitpick him right out of the game.  I WISH we could see the backside of Gilles this week, but I kinda doubt it. I do wish Kirstie could stay over him, but I fear her time is running out. But Kirstie and Melissa? I think the odds dudes might have that one wrong. I LOVE Melissa and would love to see her in the final three – but it seems a bit clear that she’s getting some pimpage from the judges, and she’s apparently last in the running order this week which, while not a huge deal any more, is a sign of them giving her some love. I think she’ll survive this week, thanks to the scores, but I’m afraid she won’t make it to the end. Unless the judges get REALLY serious.  Of course, the odds makers aren’t really saying who is going to leave next, they are giving odds to win it all – so I guess in that respect they’re more right than wrong. Although I don’t really know which of the people who I think are going to be top three is actually going to win. Which is kind of a nice change of pace. :-)

DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 7: What Do You Think?

Our apologies for being a little late with the Las Vegas Odds! For some reason, all the betting sites have been later than the norm posting them this week. Is this a sign the odds makers are overly undecided? 8O I don’t know. None the less, below are Sports Bovada’s odds leading up to Week 7 of Dancing With The Stars. Note how the placements are the same, but, the numbers are tighter in some cases and/or the same or higher in others.

Shawn Johnson 10/11
Emmitt Smith 13/4
Gilles Marini 7/2
Apolo Anton Ono 9/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 40/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 5 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 1/1
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 9/2
Apolo Anton Ono 6/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 33/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 75/1

In my opinion, Apolo should be in second place (or even first?) and Emmitt in third. I don’t think Gilles is going to make the top three like many think. I mean…is his fan base really that big? My Dad (an avid fan to the show for about 4 or 5 years now) keeps asking me who Gilles, Melissa, and Kelly are and that to me is a little telling being he kept asking me who Sabrina was too and the next thing we know and regardless of scores and ability to dance, Sabrina is a goner. I also still think it’s a mistake to underestimate Kirstie in this competition. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her make it to atleast 4th place….that is, if she can still make some strong showings on the dance floor as she has the last couple of weeks.

Lets get Miss Heidi and Court’s thoughts on the new odds and be sure to let us know what you think too in comments….

Heidi: I just don’t get the Emmitt thing. I mean, he’s faded into the woodwork on this this show.  Are they basing their odds on how well football players have done in the past?? I agree with Vogue – I really think Apolo should be up at the top with Shawn. Of course, it’s my bias talking when I say I really want Gilles to be the next “shocking” elimination. :-) As for Shawn – she’s certainly capable of winning it, but I think it depends on if Len keeps it up with his games.  He did it with Nicole and it was very obvious as well – but I don’t think that Shawn can afford that sort of game playing in an all star season AND when they throw so many dances into one elimination, reducing the spread significantly.  This week is week 7. If history holds true, it’s week 8 when Len finally gives it up. I think he should give it up a bit earlier than normal, but the urge to make it a horse race is overwhelming.  Which brings us to Kirstie. Clearly the odds makers aren’t going on a week to week scoring basis because Kirstie is still in the bottom and Kelly is up there in 5th place. I don’t know – I think that (unfortunately)  the odds dudes have the bottom three correct, but I ‘m not sure that’s the order they should be in. I guess we’ll see.

Courtney: The Emmitt thing blows my mind – I get it, the guy is charming, but he’s also just been a relatively ho-hum dancer this season, who’s been ending up at the middle-to-lower end of the scoreboard pretty consistently.  He hasn’t done anything that has shown me that he’s suddenly a contender for the MBT.  And while the NFL fanbase is considerable, I don’t see it overtaking the Olympian fanbase.  And I’m not sure why Apolo’s odds dropped and Gilles’ rose, in a week where Apolo got a perfect score (and lavish praise from the judges) and Gilles performed a bizarre, androgynous dance that left the judges kind of puzzled.  Unless the oddsmakers are playing into the same fallacy that so many viewers seem to be playing into: that “in jeopardy” and “in the bottom 2″ mean the same thing.  Couldn’t be further from the truth – for all we know, Apolo could have been the highest vote-getter last week, but hey, somebody’s got to be in jeopardy.  As for those hanging out at the bottom – I don’t think Kirstie’s going to get to the finale, or even the semifinals.  Sorry kids – but I don’t see her faring well in fusion dance, and I’m anticipating she’ll be first out in the marathon dance; as for next week - she’s likely going to end up with one of the waltzes (if it’s Viennese, she’s a goner, methinks) and the trio dance…and I’m not sure those dances really favor her, either.  Plus she’s the only contestant left that we know for sure has been in the bottom 2.  I think she’s probably going to be part of the week 8 double elim – and it’s going to be a toss-up on who joins her there.  Maybe Melissa, maybe Kelly, hopefully Gilles.  Lord knows how anyone else is faring in the votes.

DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 6: Agree or Disagree?

What a difference a week of dances make on Dancing With The Stars again. The Odds Makers at Sports Bovada have placed their bets again. First, check out Shawn Johnson! In all of the time I’ve been writing these odds up have I ever seen such strong odds favoring someone and rightfully so. Shawn is off the hook. Emmitt Smith has risen up the ladder to second place again. Apolo and Kelly have both fallen some. Note too how the odds makers are even more convinced this week that Kirstie Alley is going home which I still think they are wrong about. Same with Sabrina. I think it should be Kelly at the bottom this week.

Shawn Johnson 1/1
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 9/2
Apolo Anton Ono 6/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 33/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 75/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 5 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 7/5
Apolo Anton Ono 4/1
Emmitt Smith 4/1
Kelly Monaco 5/1
Gilles Marini 6/1
Melissa Rycroft 25/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

So, what do you think? Are the odds makers in Las Vegas wrong or right this time? Let’s get Miss Heidi’s and Courtney’s thoughts….

Courtney: These oddsmakers seem to get far too influenced by the ups and downs of each week.  I think it takes at least 2 weeks of really good (or really bad) performances to see a pattern that could genuinely affect the odds.  I also think the split performance nights may have negatively affected certain individuals while helping others – Emmitt may have had the most memorable individual performance of the first night, but it pales in comparison to every routine we saw on Tuesday night; yet he got so hyped and overscored on Monday night (and everyone on Tuesday night, with the exception of Sabrina, got low-balled) that it gives the impression that he’s a legitimate frontrunner, and he rises back to 2nd place - which I highly doubt.  Likewise, 3 of the 4 couples that danced on Tuesday night seemed to get lowballed, and I think that negatively affected their odds – even though I think it was kind of obvious they had the superior dances.  And then there’s Shawn – what exactly did she do this week that suddenly made her a sure thing? Like Vogue, I also think they may be underestimating the rebound effect of Kirstie’s fans – even if a couple is ultimately destined for the chopping block, they often seem to experience a surge in votes the week after they’re in the bottom 2.  I think that could happen for Kirstie this week…and I think the most likely candidates to take her place in the bottom 2 are Kelly & Melissa.  But who knows – this season is weird.  It makes my head spin :-P

Heidi: Um, no. I’m still of the opinion that Apolo will ultimately edge out Shawn.  And I think he will definitely edge out Gilles. I was going to say that I think they have the bottom three all wrong, but then I remember these are odds to WIN. I think Emmitt and Kelly are both too high, Sabrina a touch too low. If the standings remain the same this week, I think Kirstie beats Kelly. Courtney’s right, though – this season is CRAZY. I think the closest things to a “sure thing” are Apolo and Shawn – and if the judges keep on with the crack, I could change my mind about both.  The rest? I hope like hell Gilles is a “shocking” elimination but that’s about it. I would hate to be an odds maker because it’s too hard to call the finale. Maybe that’s why the called Shawn even money – the rest are too fluid and uncertain.
