I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. David Ross Talks On The Memories And Moments He’s Had On Dancing With The Stars

David Ross is never going to forget the the great memories and moments he’s had on Dancing With The Stars and he’ll never take them for granted. What a Guy! Here is more from the Chicago Sun Times.

“Baseball came naturally to me. It’s something I’ve been doing all my life,” the 40-year-old says. “This is so far outside my comfort zone. When you’re a professional athlete you pick up things pretty quick. But these [dance] steps are pretty frustrating all throughout the week. And you keep doing stuff over and over again and repeating those steps hoping you’ll get better. It’s extremely difficult and frustrating. … We’re learning two dances [a foxtrot to Michael Buble’s ‘You Make Me Feel So Young’ and a tango to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’], so it’s been six-and-a-half or seven-hour days, and it starts as soon as you’re done on Monday night; you’re right back [rehearsing] on Tuesday morning. And it’s all new choreography. It’s a lot of work physically, but you also learn a lot about yourself mentally.”

It’s that mental frustration that’s unlike anything he’s encountered in baseball, Ross admits.

“In baseball, you make an error, or you strike out, or you’re having a bad game, and it’s short. I messed up here, I let a ball get by there or I called the wrong pitch, and it’s short, it’s over. This [dancing] is extremely frustrating because it’s failure over and over and over again. [Laughing] Judging from the back of my baseball card I’ve had a lot of failure in my day. … But mentally it beats you down some days, and some weeks are tougher than others. I also think the song choice has a lot to do with it. If you enjoy the song or there’s meaning behind it, it’s easier to work through it. There’s only been one or two weeks where I haven’t really loved the song or felt a connection to the dance. [He says his recent paso doble was the most difficult.] … The payoff is on Mondays when you’ve nailed the dance. It’s memories I’ll never forget, just great moments I’ll never take for granted.”

Lots more at the Chicago Sun Times.

Dancing With The Stars Season 24, Week 8 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Every week I have to ask myself, how low will the producers/judges go? Every week. It didn’t used to be like this. This show has become a POS, nearly unbearable to watch. I find that sad, honestly. Are they going to find anyone who wants to do it besides the desperate celebs, Pro dancers who need jobs and other pros who have nothing better to do? I suppose there’s always a chance Derek could come back for a season if he’s down to four projects at one time – he seems determined to never have a spare moment. I hope not. I hope he’s gone for good – he might like the teaching, but I don’t think most of his fans want to see him in that fake, manipulated situation any more. Not to mention that whoever he gets as a celeb is going to get beat up to make sure they don’t win.

Lots of talk this week about the judges’ comments. You know, this isn’t the first time that Len has been horribly cruel, beyond the pale. He’s done it before. What’s different now is that instead of a one-off Len temper tantrum, it’s part of a much larger campaign to make sure the chosen one gets to the finale. And others don’t. Everywhere you turn, the show has changed in ways to attempt to get one specific person to the finale. Everything they are doing now, has been done before…but never all at the same time. And why? So Val stays to the end? If Val was all that big a deal, he wouldn’t need the help. Derek, the one that Val appears to obsesses over more than any fan does, never needed this sort of help. Hell, MAKS never needed this sort of help – he may not have won but one time, but he was legit popular without the pimping and over blown fawning. Derek and Maks have both had partners who couldn’t dance. Derek has WON with partners who had no training at all. In his 18 seasons on the show, they’ve tried to give him duds (tried hard, at times) but still never finished lower than 6th (twice) – most of the time cracking the top 4. With NON-dancers and dancers alike. Because he’s good and he works HARD. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Bonner Bolton Talks Of How Sharna Burgess And DWTS Has Helped Him (Video)

For those missing Bonner Bolton (like me), here he is talking to Entertainment Tonight in a new facebook chat. He talks of how Sharna Burgess and Dancing With The Stars has made him a better person. Aww….

ETA: Sharna has written a blog at US Weekly. She had a gut feeling it might be her and Bonner’s time to go home this past week, but, she is so proud of him and what he accomplished. More below and at the link.

I usually wake up with a feeling when it’s time. I woke up that Monday incredibly calm, but knew I needed to pack my bags because this could be it. But not because I don’t think Bonner deserved to go further. I had that feeling because everybody left in the competition was so dang good. It could have been anybody’s game. We’re watching some incredible dancers go home week to week, and it’s hard to know what the result will be. I can only say that with my nine partners, I’ve had a gut instinct that I knew when I was going home, and this was no different. Obviously I was hoping that I was wrong.

Seeing how far Bonner has come in the last eight weeks into this competition is phenomenal. As his coach, watching him start to move better, start to move with more confidence and feel better with his injuries, is kind of the greatest gift that I could have.

He trusted me and allowed me to do what I do best and that is to coach him and teach him how to dance. I really took the time to understand his injuries and what he could and couldn’t do, and to understand him as a person, because a lot of teaching is understanding the personality that is in front of you and how to help them. It’s not just dance that I’m teaching this person, it’s how to be confident and how to just take charge of the situation, and that is what I believe Bonner did this season. I watched him grow and I’m incredibly proud of him.

Now I am about to head on tour with Dancing With the Stars Live. One of my favorite things about the tour is getting to meet all of our amazing fans that support us and have kept us on the air for the past 24 seasons. We owe them so much gratitude, and this is kind of like us giving back to our fans. I’m excited — I can’t wait to get out there and dance my butt off!
