Riker Lynch and Allison Holker did a segment for Good Day LA this morning to talk about Dancing With The Stars. Riker says doing Dancing With The Stars is one of the hardest things he’s ever done. Allison talks of how Riker is so inspiring. Riker chats on his family, his band, and a documentary coming up too. More below in detail…
Man, I was digging this new Afterbuzz TV show last night ….especially being Mark Ballas was a guest. He provided some cool “behind the scenes” information about the dancers and the show, getting his partners from A to B, how you can tell who is in it to win it every season, what it’s like having a gymnast for a partner, and more. Though, I have to say….I was disappointed at the end when he and Anna Trebunskaya went on about Henry Byalikov and what a great job he’s dong with Nastia Liukin. Hey, maybe Henry is doing a good job and that’s cool, but, let’s be REAL here! Anna said Henry has Nastia for “half the week” when that IS NOT TRUE! Henry only has Nastia for TWO days (Saturday and Sunday). It’s also not true that Henry is doing all the cleaning up, etc as Derek has been conversing with them on the weekend from New York City making sure everything is perfect. Yes, Henry may be a stand in for Derek on the weekend, but, he’s not doing it “all”. So for those on the Afterbuzz TV show and fans taking it in everything Anna says as if it’s “word”, think again. Also, Derek is doing ALL of the choreography HIMSELF. See this NEW “YOUNG HOLLYWOOD” rehearsal interview of last week’s rehearsals in New York City. This footage was filmed before Nastia went back to Los Angeles….doesn’t this say it all? Anyway, take a listen to the show below and let us know what you think. Yes, I’m wound up. :-|
Did any of you note how Tom Bergeron mentioned doing a “stand alone” show on Dancing With The Stars Monday night? We don’t know much about it yet, but, Tom tweeted out this information below. Note that it will be something outside of the competition and it will have “fan-favorite surprises”. Let’s hope we get more information soon.
Grab ya kleenex and get ready for “Most Memorable Year” Week. :::sigh::: Anyone else remember the good old days when every single week didn’t have to have a theme?? I do.
Anyway, Vogue has been a workin’ fiend as per usual and the info we have so far on the dances comes from her Massive Media Roundup post….or in Sharna’s case, her blog. Mark and Willow’s dance is from something he said on Afterbuzz, which Vogue will put up as soon as she gets it.
And hey – at least they’re not all Rumbas.
ETA: Apparently it’s okay if someone other than us spoils the songs. Really ABC – Just Jared is a better option? Funny how no one cared about the songs until we started spoiling them a few seasons ago. Humph. Michael’s song already feels heart wrenching. Nastia’s song is so perfect for an AT that I wonder if it was her idea. I wonder about Chris’ also.
Rumer and Val – Waltz (Song: “Turning Tables” by Adele)
Patti and Artem – Jazz (Song: “Dan Swit Me” by Patti LaBelle)
Willow and Mark – Contemporary (Song: “Atlas” by Coldplay)
Chris and Witney – Rumba (Song: “The Book of Love” by Gavin James)
Michael and Peta – Rumba (Song: “Not My Father’s Son” from “Kinky Boots”)
Noah and Sharna – Contemporary (Song: “American Soldier” by Toby Keith)
Robert and Kym – Waltz (Song: “The Last Waltz” by Engelbert Humperdinck)
Riker and Allison – (Song: “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon)
Suzanne and Tony – (Song: “Three’s Company Theme” by Dominik Hauser)
Nastia and Derek – Argentine Tango (Song: “Variations on Dark Eyes” by Lara St. John)
Sharna Burgess has posted her new blog at Closer Weekly. She runs through the challenging week putting together her and Noah’s Argentine Tango. She also gives us a glimpse of what might be coming for next week’s dance. More below and be sure you read the full blog at the link as she posted some fun “behind the scenes” pictures as well.
I could not be more proud of Noah. He is improving every week and that is key in this competition. We of course have a lot of work to do on his movement if we want to stay in, but just wow! He inspires me every day with how much he wants this. He can be very hard on himself, as he is a perfectionist and can become super frustrated if things don’t go as well as they have before. In truth, last night wasn’t our best run and Carrie Ann was right in what she said. We need that constructive criticism from the judges because it reinforces to Noah the things I teach him. It wasn’t until Noah watched it back a second time that he saw the beauty in what he had done last night.
Moving forward, this [week’s dance theme] is ‘Most Memorable Year’ and you already know that this is usually a very emotional week for most couples. Noah’s story deserves greatness, something epic and worthy of him and what his been through. It is Tuesday and I haven’t yet found what that is. I can feel I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself this week, which is more than I think I have in a long time. I want it to be perfect, to blow everyone away and to have our viewers be taken on a journey with us. Telling his story is important and I have to stop myself from getting emotional while trying to create. It ain’t easy! We have [to perform a] contemporary [dance] this week and, if you don’t already know, it is one of my faves! :) Our song is just amazing! It is beyond perfect for Noah and what we are trying to achieve. I can’t wait for you all to see the finished product.
Lastly my loves, I want to thank you soooooo much for the incredible support for #TeamShway! Without you guys we wouldn’t still be here. All the love you shout out to us is seen on social media and it gives the both of us so much joy to know all of Noah’s hard work is paying off. We will keep working out butts off and hopefully… we can take #TeamShway all the way! :)

Dancing With The Stars Diaries With Darvina Plante – Interviews With Keo Motsepe, Witney Carson, Mark Ballas
Darvina Plante has been interviewing this year’s cast of Dancing With The Stars. Below are some interviews with Keo Motsepe, Witney Carson, and Mark Ballas! I’m liking these. I hope she keeps doing these.
Suzanne Somers almost got a banana stuck where on Tony? LOL! She is a hoot.
I loved my Carmen Miranda-style costume. What girl wouldn’t want to wear it? Tony designed it for movement. I thought it was fantastic. The hat was heavy, but I was most worried being thrown through Tony’s legs that I’d get a banana in his crotch.
Competitions are fierce. I had that dance nailed, performed perfectly in rehearsal, but all that counts is performance, and I did miss a step. I actually appreciate the judges’ comments. Compliments are hard won, and I don’t need any special coddling.
I feel very proud that I’m out there on that dance floor. My objective is to do my best each week, and I look forward to next week for another shot. We have a big surprise for next week. Really fun!
Be sure to read her blog in full at People. There is a lot of exciting things happening in her life.
