I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. DWTS Season 20, Week 6 – Dancing by the Numbers

Interesting week on DWTS. Not sure what their goal was, if there was a goal. I do wonder if Riker is killing it in votes and this is how they give him a narrative and show they were right all along. Conversely, maybe he needs help and this is their way of giving it to him. That said, I really liked his dance a lot. I don’t believe he was a whole 3 points ahead of Nastia – not at all, especially upon re-watching.  Basically, every complaint that Len had about that Tango was BS…I’ve watched the dance several times and I don’t see it.  I would’ve put Nastia up with Riker, Willow is good where she is as is Rumer.  I guess, on re-watching, the only score that hacked me off was Nastia’s.

So, was it because she was so early in the night? That’s twice in the last three weeks that she’s gone either first or second. That’s fair, I suppose, since she had the 8th spot in week 1 and she’s had the pimp spot twice.  Rumer, on the other hand, has only danced in the first few dances once and has been in the last 3 dances three times. Pretty good placing, I’d say.  Riker was in the first four dances three times and had the pimp spot once. Out of the top three, I think Rumer has had the most beneficial placing, BUT, that was then, when there was a lot of low hanging fruit to be picked off. What they do going forward will be more telling. If Nastia and Derek go first or second AGAIN, then I will be pissed. Once upon a time, going first or second mattered less and less as the season has gone along, but nowadays it seems they low ball the first good couple out of the gate. Whether this is intentional or coincidence I have no idea. …Read more

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Derek Hough Writes On His Injury, Dancing With The Stars, Healing, And More

Copied and pasted from Pure Derek Hough. If you’d like to know the latest and even more about Derek’s condition see this link.

Derek has a written a new blog at TV Guide. He talks of his “fluke” accident, his injury, and what’s happening on Dancing With The Stars. “Withdrawing is not an option” and he’s “taking it one day at a time”. Read on for more. What a Guy…and it’s so good to hear from him!

The good news is I’m healing quickly. I don’t need surgery or anything. I’m already off the crutches, which is really good. I’ve been doing physiotherapy and rehab, and it’s very promising. I’m just trying to be careful because I have a busy year still left. I just want to make sure I’m 100 percent in shape. I talked to my physio and he said, “There’s gonna come a time where you feel good and you feel like you can dance. But remember you still have a tear in your ankle and a broken toe.” I’m trying to be smart and intelligent about it and make sure I truly am feeling good. It’s one thing if you heal something like this and you’re just going about the day, walking again, but dancing is a different beast. You twist and turn and jump and flip. It’s a whole different level of recovery that you need to achieve.

Nastia’s been rehearsing with Sasha this week. I’m still choreographing the routine and I’m in all the rehearsals. We’re figuring out some different little things to do. We’ll make it fun and interesting. Sasha’s doing a great job. It’s cool because we have the modern Charleston this week and he’s got some good ideas.

Withdrawing was never an option. Dancing with the Stars is not about me or any pro. It’s about the celebrities. It’s their journey. I’m part of the journey, but it’s not my journey. I want Nastia to have the best possible chance of winning. You know, she makes it look easy, but we put the work in. You see some of it, but I think a lot of people overlook the amount of work we put in and how much goes into putting together a routine and teaching and learning it. She’s a very hard worker and very determined, and I definitely feel like she can go all the way. There are other factors in play, but I feel like she can win.

I’m just kind of taking it one day at a time right now. I have never broken a bone in my body before, so that’s the only thing I’m not used to because I literally can’t push through it. Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and be magically healed! I’m really doing everything I can to recover as quickly as possible. I’m still doing cryotherapy, taking some herbs, I have topical medication that makes the skin heal faster. Whatever it takes! I’ll probably never look at ice the same way again though! I know you’re thinking I should’ve just asked someone to get ice for me, but you know, that’s me in a nutshell. Instead, I hobble and fall down the stairs! It’s like the universe was saying “sit down” the first time and I didn’t listen, so then it was like, “OK, now you really have sit down!” It sucks, but there’s always a reason for everything. I always say life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you, so I just have to wait this out.

Angels Weigh In On New Las Vegas Odds For Dancing With The Stars Week 7

Well, the odds makers have placed their new bets for week 7 of Dancing With The Stars Season 20 at Sports Bovada. We’re seeing some switches again after last week’s show. Note how Riker Lynch and Rumer Willis are now tied for second place. I was also shocked to see Noah Galloway so low this time. Take a look at the new odds. Does this look about right or are they totally wrong? Let us know in comments. We’d love to hear your thoughts as always.

Nastia Liukin 11/10
Riker Lynch 3/1
Rumer Willis 3/1
Willow Shields 6/1
Robert Herjavec 33/1
Noah Galloway 40/1
Chris Soules 50/1

My thoughts: In my opinion, Rumer should be in 4th. If I was going to tie someone for 2nd place, I’d tie Riker and Willow instead. Unless we see some huge stand out dances in the coming weeks, I don’t think Rumer is all that. I would also put Noah above Robert. In fact, I think it’s going to be between Robert and Chris going home next.

Heidi and Court, what do you think?

Heidi: I’m thinking there should be a 3-way tie for first place, with Willow in second, cuz I’m not at all sure what’s going to happen. This week will be interesting. Was last week a fluke for Rumer, where they called out the choreo and the attitude of the dance? Or is it the new normal? And why the change in tune?? These judges like to be right – is Riker coming on strong and taking over the competition?? You know, I’m going to vote my butt off for Nastia, but I would love to see the expression on Val’s face if Riker were to win with a non-ballroom trained pro. THAT would be hilarious. :-D Interesting, Nastia got kinda hosed by the judges as well but the odds makers seem to think she’s bullet proof. I wonder if her odds change if Derek’s out for good? Anyway, I think the bottom three are correct, and probably in that order. Hard to say. Noah is a wild card.

Courtney: I, like Heidi, still think it could be any one of 3 people taking the top spot at this point – and with Riker peaking at the right time, I think he might possibly edge out Rumer.  Speaking of the latter, I’m still not positive how she’s doing in the votes department – sure, she’s getting great scores, but how many people have actually VOTED for her? With the Val fans seemingly splintering into factions (the Vajanel shippers vs. the Rumer fans vs. the Kelly fans vs. the rational few that don’t care about shipping), I’m not sure he can rely upon every single vote he got with Janel last season to also get up and vote this season.  And how many people are voting for her based on who her parents are? I just don’t think we have a clear picture at this point.  I’m also uncertain about Robert & Noah – Robert may be more able-bodied, but he’s also gotten kinda beat up by the judges recently; Noah may be reaching the peak of what he’s able to do, but he seems to have a LOT of fan support.  Who will edge out whom? Will be interesting to see.  And for the love of god, I hope Chris the Clydesdale FINALLY loses steam this week…but at this point, with him already having edged out Suzanne & Patti, I wonder if this guy just has a lot of steam coming off of The Bachelor.  Willow? Somewhere in the middle – she seems to run hot and cold, and this past week she faded into the woodwork a bit.
