Gossip Cop interviewed Tony Dovolani on the new season of Dancing With The Stars. He’s excited to be coming back and gives credit to his wife, Lina. He says he won’t quit until she tells him he doesn’t have it anymore.
…and plans to keep giving it his all, even though he says he’s no longer a “spring chicken.”
“It’s about showing people that just because you get to a certain age, it doesn’t mean you’re supposed to mail it in,” says the 41-year-old. “Still fight, still go out there and give it your best.”
Dovolani tells Gossip Cop exclusively, “The moment that my wife [Lina] tells me I don’t have it anymore is probably the moment I quit.”
“She’s my honest opinion,” he shares. “When she looks at me and says to me, ‘Honey, it’s time for you to step aside and let the other ones take it,’ then I’ll stop.”
In fact, Dovolani says “all the credit in the world” for his success goes to Lina.
“If I didn’t have a strong wife like I do, I would not be able to do what I do,” says the dancer. “Honestly, she’s the secret to my success.”
Lina and their three kids are based in Connecticut, and he spends 6 months of the year — 3 months at a time for “DWTS” — in Los Angeles.
“My wife is the most incredible person I’ve ever met. A lot of people say that — I actually mean it,” says Dovolani. “She takes care of the homefront.”
He goes on, “[Lina] makes sure that I do what I’m supposed to do, and [keeps] me real as well. This Hollywood life has never gotten to me because she keeps me grounded.”
You can read the full interview at Gossip Cop. He also talks on the kind of partner he wants for dancing With The Stars Season 19 and more.
Just some random twitter pics and instagrams peaking my curiosity today. Not that they mean anything, but, hey, just a small ‘just in case’…especially for the future. Yes, I’m desperate, but, they are cool pics never the less, right?
First up, Gleb Savchenko gives Carly Steel an Argentinian Tango lesson. Why? Not sure, but, wouldn’t she be a cool get for Dancing With The Stars now or in the future ….and with Gleb?!
Next, Karina posted this instagram saying, “Well, now that we know @ShemarfMoore can do lifts, who wants to see him on the next season of @dancingabc ?”. Mmmm yes, Karina. A Hot “young and the restless” thought in fact!!
Lastly, our beautiful Sharna Burgess posted this instagram last night with the quote: @celebrityblackcardllc at our @dancingabc gifting suite last season! Looking forward to an amazing season 19!!! #dwts Hmmmm….this is killing me softly, but, it’s ok. ADDING: and speaking of Sharna, is it not awesome Charlie White and Meryl Davis asked her to choreograph a new ice routine for them?! Like when they asked Derek, they know talent when they see it, don’t they?!
So, have you seen anything out there peaking your curiosity? If so, tell us in comments and let us know what you think as always.
That’s all for now. Have a fabulous weekend. xx
Cheryl Burke, Val And Maks Chmerkovskiy Interviewed On Ballroom With A Twist And Dancing With The Stars
In a new Ballroom With A Twist interview with Equality 365, Val Chmerkovskiy chats about why he loves doing the show. His favorite part is the “human element” and how “inspiring” it is to share the stage with such “passionate” talent. Val also talked about his brother Maks and the new season of Dancing With The Stars. Below is more….
ED: How do you feel about returning to DWTS next season?
VC: I am very excited. The announcement was just made Wednesday. I feel very fortunate to be able to perform on a show that provides me the platform to share my talent and passion with an average of 20 million people a week. I am incredibly lucky for that. I am very grateful to be called back. I love all the work that goes into the show. It is a lot of work. It isn’t easy. I am also very excited to meet my new partner. I have no idea who it might be. I love the process of meeting someone new and finding out more about them while building a lifelong relationship with them. This journey that we go through each season is the greatest thing ever.
ED: What do you think about your brother (Maksim Chmerkovskiy) leaving the show?
VC: About time man, he is always hogging the spotlight (laughing). I am joking. It is rare these days for siblings to work in the same city much less the same industry. To be able to work in the same industry at the same job that also happens to be the number 1 TV show in America is just crazy. For me it has been an incredible ride. We are super close and it has been great for our family to witness that and watch us together. I think it will be amazing for our future children to know that we had that experience. Our lives didn’t start with Dancing with the Stars and it certainly isn’t ending there. My brother and I have a lot of projects that we want to do together. We are very close. We love one another and support each other. I am sad that this chapter of our life has come to an end and we won’t be able to share the stage on DWTS anymore. But at the same time, there are plenty of other projects that we will partner in. I do think it is a great time for him to exit gracefully. Leaving on top after last season is an incredible blessing. He has a decade of commitment to DWTS and I think it is time for him to work on other projects.

There is also a new Ballroom With A Twist interview with Maks Chmerkovskiy and Cheryl Burke at Honolulu Pulse. Both dancers talk of why they love to do Ballroom With A Twist. Cheryl said, “It’s a very high-energy, two-hour show. We go into the audience and get them moving. It’s really a chance for them to connect with us. A lot of people have questions, and they’re always interested in (the) behind-the-scenes of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’” Cheryl and Maks also talked on Dancing With The Stars. Here is more from Maks and why he decided to retire from Dancing With The Stars and how shows like Ballroom With A Twist are a better fit for him now.
Though he will continue dancing, he has announced that he is retiring from “DWTS.”
Part of that decision is the grueling nature of the show.
“By week seven, no matter who you have, no matter how brilliant they are, no matter how easy they are to work with, your body is exhausted and you just want to die,” he said.
Nonetheless, his victory also has given him a sense of accomplishment and appreciation for what he does so well.
“I never really appreciated myself or the talent that I have, till now,” Chmerkovskiy said. “So now I do a show like ‘Ballroom With a Twist.’ I never would do this kind of thing before.
“Finally I said yes to these things because I just want the stage. I love the stage, I love to move, I love the audience interaction. I want to say thank you — live.”
Lots more at Honolulu Pulse.
If interested in seeing Ballroom With A Twist before Dancing With The Stars begins, see this link for ticket information. This weekend they are in Seattle and then they go to Hawaii next week!!
ETA: You can also listen to Karina and Val talking on Dancing With The Stars and Ballroom With A Twist at Komo News. Note how Karina mentions there will be a bigger digital presence and a “Q & A” on Dancing With The Stars this season. ABC and BBC have something special planned this season and they are excited. Hmmmm….
Such good news for Derek Hough. He’s landed a recurring role in the hit series “Nashville”. He will play a “movie star” character named “Noah West” (loves that name! Perfect!). Below is more from E News. You can also read more at Pure Derek Hough. We’re excited. Congratulations Derek!
Hough will join Nashville in a multi-episode arc as Noah West, E! News has confirmed. And the Emmy-winning choreographer tweeted his excitement over joining the series, saying he “can’t wait” to join the Nashville gang.
Noah is a “beguiling and disarming” 20-something movie star who has been tapped for a leading role in the biopic of a famous country singer. So how will he fit into the lives of our favorite country crooners?
Seeing as how Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) is heading to Hollywood in an attempt to headline that very same biopic, it sounds like she and Noah are fated to butt heads, as the it boy actor, who has already been cast as her onscreen hubby, isn’t going to be the biggest fan of Juliette’s. Now why on Earth would he feel that way?
You might remember our previous posting for how Dancing With The Stars pros Tristan MacManus, Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov, and Artem Chigvintsev were going to perform with Gladys Knight at the Hollywood Bowl last weekend. Thanks to Cal Vid, you can watch them dancing below. This video is a little blurry at first, but, it gets better as you watch. Go Gladys! What a special night for them all!
Dancing With The Stars co-host Erin Andrews did a new spread for Health Magazine. Below you can see some ‘behind the scenes’ shots and coverage. She looks fantastic, doesn’t she?! You can also read a new interview at Health Magazine here.
So, I saw this this evening and if it weren’t 3 weeks from the cast announcement (also known as just the right time), I would have thought nothing of it. But it is only 3 weeks to the announcement….
Colton Smith appears to be a mixed martial arts fighter who won UFC 16 – which means most of the pros on this show already know who he is. But he’s really not the caliber of cast member they need to give them ratings similar to last season – at least, I don’t think so. What do you think? Dancing with the Stars or something like Wipeout?? Survivor?
I had to put it out there just in case. Last time I kept something to myself was when I found out a Pittsburgh Steeler was dancing WEEKS before he was announced or leaked.
