PureDWTS Predictions: Celebrity Age Breakdown
As mentioned on the PureDWTS Predictions page, there are three categories for which I use to figure out eliminations and predictions. The easiest of these categories to talk about is the ages of the celebrities.
With such a diverse cast season after season, it is clear to see that youth tends to last longer in the season, granted other variables effect the celebrity as well but for the most part ages are a large portion of the calculations.
Looking at the spread of celebrities over the series I decided to break down them down via their ages over a course of a decade: teens, 20s, 30s, etc. After normalizing all the placements of all the celebrities that have been through the show below is an overall ranking as to how each group has fared:
OVERALL RANK | AGE GROUP | CELEBRITIES |
Rank: 1st | Teens | Cody Linley, Shawn Johnson, Bristol Palin and Kyle Massey |
Rank: 2nd | 20s | Stacy Keibler, Drew Lachey, Sabrina Bryan, Melissa Rycroft, Natalie Coughlin, Kelly Osbourne, Evan Lysacek, Rob Karshian, JR Martinez |
Rank: 3rd | 30s | Joey McIntyre, Joey Lawrence, Mario Lopez, Emmitt Smith, Joey Fatone, Melanie Brown, Kristi Yamaguchi, Lance Bass, Brooke Burke, Gilles Marini, Nicole Scherzinger, Brandy, Jaleel White |
Rank: 4th | 60s | George Hamilton, Jerry Springer, Priscilla Presley, Susan Lucci, Kirstie Alley, Gladys Knight |
Rank: 5th | 40s | Lisa Rinna, Jerry Rice, Pamela Anderson, Margaret Cho, Ralph Macchio, Ricki Lake |
Rank: 6th | 70s | Florence Henderson |
Rank: 7th | 50s | Harry Hamlin, Jane Seymour, Donny Osmond, Jennifer Grey, David Hasselhoff, Jack Wagner |
Rank: 8th | 80s | Cloris Leachman, Buzz Aldrin |
Although the first three age groups appear to make sense in their ranking… it then jumps to celebrities in the 60s. In some ways this would make sense since a lot of celebrities in that age group tend to get a lot of sympathy votes from the voting public.
In the case of those in their 70s there is only one celebrity that fits that age group: Florence Henderson, while in the only ones in their 80s at the time of their participation of the program were Cloris Leachman and Buzz Aldrin.
Taking the time of looking at the winners over the series the majority were in their 30s however that is 7 celebrities out of 64 total celebrities in their 30s. Below is a breakdown of the top three from across all the seasons:
AGE GROUP | FIRST PLACE |
SECOND PLACE |
THIRD PLACE |
TOTAL |
Teens | 1 / 20% | 1 / 20% | 1 / 20% | 5 |
20s | 4 / 15.38% | 2 / 7.69% | 4 / 15.38% | 26 |
30s | 7 / 10.94% | 8 / 12.5% | 7 / 10.94% | 64 |
40s | 0 | 1 / 2.56% | 2 / 5.13% | 39 |
50s | 2 / 10.53% | 1 / 5.26% | 0 | 19 |
