Ralph Macchio And Karina Smirnoff’s “Across Grace Alley” Available To Buy And Download, Note To Fans

If you haven’t seen Ralph Macchio And Karina Smirnoff’s short film “Across Grace Alley”, you can now buy and download at it’s official site. If you see it (or have seen it), let us know what you think of it in comments. Some of the words used to describe it so far in reviews are: ‘beautiful’, ‘touching’, ’emotional’, and ‘lovely’ (sounds like Karina herself).

Also, Karina has written a note to her fans at facebook about her elimination with Randy Couture and how thankful she is to have met him and her other partners on Dancing With The Stars. She also wrote about “Across Grace Alley” and it’s release. Below is more. This tears me up. We love you, Karina!

Thank you all so much for your love and support this season. Although it was short lived, I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet a friend for life in Randy “The Natural” Couture and dance for all of you. I’ve always said that the most wonderful part of this show is the incredible fans/supporters who I get to interact with and share the journey with as well as the bonds I’ve been blessed to make. It is incredible that a film like Across Grace Alley was birthed out of the relationship Ralph Macchio and I formed while on #DWTS. Not to mention the other amazing people who worked tirelessly to make this film happen like my manager who raised the capital and helped develop my character to many of Ralph’s longtime “industry” friends who brought this story beautifully to life on screen. It is incredible all of this started with us meeting on Dancing with the Stars. I’ve also remained close to the majority of my previous partners and cheer them on and support them. People like Jacoby Jones, JR Martinez and Corbin Bleu have become my extended family. I say all of this to say how truly grateful I am to have had these experiences, to have met these inspiring people – including many of you and to be reminded that life is short. We are never guaranteed tomorrow but we have right now. The road is not easy but my hope is we can all look back on the journey and be thankful for it. Without the adversity and disappointment or the successes and times of triumph; we wouldn’t truly appreciate what we have accomplished and more important who we were blessed to meet along the way. I am humbled by your love, support and encouragement and hope you all know that whatever I do, wherever I am led, you all are a part of me and my motivation. I pray that today we can all follow our hearts, believe that the future is bright and push forward being present and thankful despite the unknown. Love you all! Excited that you can all now see Across Grace Alley by downloading it at www.acrossgracealley.com Xo K

Karina Smirnoff and Ralph Macchio Interviewed About “Across Grace Alley’, DWTS, And More

Broadway World has a new interview posted with dance pro Karina Smirnoff and former Dancing With The Stars partner Ralph Macchio. They talk with them about their partnership on Dancing With The Stars and their new film together, “Across Grace Alley, which will soon be premiering on the East coast at the HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL from October 10th – 14th! Here is fan take of how they started working on the film together. Lots more at the link. Check out this new website for the film too. It’s fun!

So at what point did you start talking about working together on the film. Was it during that season, or afterwards?

RM: It was afterwards. We felt, and I think this is probably the case for a lot of people on that show, there is certainly a void when it’s over. I think you either wind up being friends forever or never wanting to talk to the person ever again. In our case, I felt the creativity that we had, the ability that we had to tell stories through dance and also through the weekly packages on the show – I miss that and I felt that Karina and I had more stories to tell.

And I think we both felt that and we both miss that creative process. And the getting to know her behind the camera and personally as the friendship grew over the course of the season, I became more and more fascinated with how intriguing a person she was and how much I felt this sort of real, human, understated, grounded side to her that was not sort of focused on the celebrity of Dancing with the Stars- and the glitz and glamour part of it. I saw the human side, the girl beneath the woman, was something I thought would be a fascinating character and so a lot of her character in our film came about in just conversations and our relationship and some discussions we had over that time from a human level.

So that’s where the concept of placing Karina in that sort of place and unveiling that side of her began and our creative collaboration in my world of filmmaking, as opposed to her world of ‘5, 6, 7, 8 go!’

And Karina, this is your film debut. Can you tell us a little bit about your role and is this a career you’d like to pursue further?

Absolutely. It was an incredible experience. You know on Dancing with the Stars we get to create and we get to become a different character for the dance, but it was never as in-depth as it was during the shooting of the movie. And to work with Ralph and to have him explain to me the direction of how he wanted me to act in a certain scene. It wasn’t like 5, 6, 7, 8, go as he says. He told me stories that connected to an emotional experience in my life. And he knows exactly what he wants you to do, which was a very good experience in many ways. I loved every minute of it. I’m looking at other roles right now- I’m excited about this new acting in my life because I have always wanted to act, but when you’re growing up it’s usually a dream and a lot of people don’t think it can be reality, but Ralph has given me a possibility that can be the next chapter of my life and I am ever so grateful for that.

Forever Tango Preview, Karina Smirnoff Writing New Book, Across Grace Alley Update

Karina Smirnoff is not only about to take the stage with Maks Chmerkovskiy in Forever Tango. She’s also been writing a new book. Ok! Magazine asked her a little about what it’s about and here is how she responded.

“It will delve into questions people have often asked which I haven’t been able to answer,” she says. “It’s non-fiction with the stories where the names are a little twisted.”

So is this tell-all going to make Karina a few enemies?

“None of it is bad,” says the dancing pro. “It’s all fact. None of it is horrible. Some of this information is out already, some isn’t. A lot of times I’ve decided not to speak up and say certain things and address certain things and it’s not because I didn’t want to say bit, it’s because I wanted to step back and look at the situation and learn from it. Now that I have I’m ready to share those lessons.”

Karina, who has previously been engaged to baseball player Brad Penny and fellow DWTS star Maksim Chmerkovskiy, says the process of writing the book has made her look at life a little differently.

“The more you talk about it (your life), the more you realize,” she says. “The more you write the more you understand that people’s perception is their reality. It’s an interesting observation. I can’t say too much because I don’t want to give it all away but it’s a very eye-opening book for me while I was writing it and definitely for anyone who will read it.”

Cool, I can’t wait to buy this book. How about you? You can read the full article at Ok! Magazine. Don’t miss reading it because there is a brief mention about Karina’s new movie “Across Grace Alley” with Ralph Macchio as well.

By the way, stay tuned. Karina and Maks will be on Extra and Good Morning America on Monday to talk of their 3 week run in “Forever Tango”. They’ll also be on The View on Friday. For tickets, see this link. Here’s a little preview from Forever Tango….

Just a little Dancing With The Stars media round-up!!! This weekend, Dancing With The Stars pros Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff attended a big birthday bash for dancing alumni Maria Menounos. Julianne Hough and Shirley Ballas also attended the fun event as well as a total of 800 guests. Derek’s sister Katherine and baby were also there. It started at noon with a pool party and ended with a Hawaiian party. Below is Derek and Karina dancing together during the festivities.

You can see more coverage at Pure Derek Hough!!

Speaking of Karina, have you seen this instagram photo yet? The photo features some beautiful stills of Karina from her first movie role “Across Grace Alley“. With an exception to some sound adjustments from Ralph Macchio, it sounds like the movie is almost finished and ready to go. Well, we hope?

And moving down under! Pros Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samodanova are currently in Australia. This weekend they gave a floor show and lecture. Below they Cha Cha and do a Paso Doble for the audience. Nice!! I need to add Elena to my Pro Wish List. 😀

Lastly, remember dancer and ballroom instructor Adrianne Haslet-Davis who was tragically hurt and lost her leg in the Boston bombings? Dancing With The Stars plans to help and follow her on her journey of recovery. Well, on June 15th, you can help too. There will be a Fundraising Gala for her and her husband Adam Davis in Boston. If interesting in attending and helping them, visit Aurthur Murray Facebook and Authur Murray Event Bright for details and ticket information. Thanks to Tumbles for the heads up on this news.

And that makes this post a wrap for now! More later! 😉 xxx
