Access Hollywood has posted a new interview they did with Maks Chmerkovskiy this week (I think this took place last Monday before he judged the show?). ABC Releases Details For The Dancing With The Stars Finale!!

ABC has issued details for the finale of Dancing With The Stars Season 17. As well as the freestyles, I can’t wait for the Samba Relay. The two nights are going to be jam packed. Below is more.

“Episode 1711 & 1711A” — After 10 weeks of entertaining, stylized dancing from Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff, Jack Osbourne & Cheryl Burke, Bill Engvall & Emma Slater and Amber Riley & Derek Hough, only one couple will be crowned “Dancing with the Stars” Champions. These four remaining couples will have one last opportunity to impress the judges and the viewers on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), concluding with the Season Finale, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

On MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), “Dancing with the Stars” season 16 Champion Kellie Pickler returns to open up the show with her country hit “Little Bit Gypsy,” accompanied by the pro dancers. The four remaining couples will then compete in three rounds of dance. In the first round, each couple will take on the “Judges Pick” and repeat a selected routine from earlier in the season. In round two, the couples will be challenged to a Samba relay, where each pair dances to a different section of the same song. The Samba relay will be accompanied by 90’s hip hop group TLC who will perform their classic hit “No Scrubs.” In the last round, and one of the biggest competitive dances of the season, the couples take on a supersized freestyle featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises. At the end of night, one couple will be eliminated based on the previous weeks’ viewer votes, combined with the judges’ scores from Monday night.

In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) and in the the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24 Hour Fusion Challenge.” During Monday night’s show, the remaining couples will choose songs for their competitors that fuse two contrasting dance styles and they’ll all have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points the following night. The finale will feature performances by Lady Antebellum who will perform their new single “Compass,” and Enrique Iglesias will sing his current hit “Heart Attack.” The entire celebrity cast returns including: Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Brant Daugherty, Keyshawn Johnson, Christina Milian, Bill Nye, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Leah Remini and Valerie Harper who will dance with partner Tristan MacManus to a version of “What a Wonderful World” by singer Colbie Caillat. In addition, Ylvis will perform their hit single “The Fox,” accompanied by select celebrity and pro dancers. At the end of the night, the public vote from Monday night will be combined with the judges’ scores from both nights to crown the Season 17 Champion.

Be sure to read more at ABC. Thanks to @DWTSgossip for the heads up!

New Astrology And Numerology Study And Predictions For Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Finals!!

What interesting Astrology personalities and unions we have this season for the Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Finals!! Making this season unique from others, would you believe it if we told you we have two Taureans and two Capricorns in the finals? And to make things even more interesting a Scorpio, an Aquarian, a Pisces, and a Leo are thrown into the mix. Read further to see how the couples Astrological sings might and might not stack up and if you think this might help or hinder them for the finals? DonaMadrina has also included a new Numerology Forecast for us to consider being she was interesting in diving into their “Monthly” and “Yearly” numbers a bit more being their weekly numbers are so close and tight. Note how (once again), she nailed it with her Numerology forecast last week. Tony Dovolani was the only person to have a “red challenging” mark and…well, we all know how that turned out. Also included below is a Horoscope Forecast for each sign from Astrologer Patrick Arundell who is quite a fascinating and fun fellow. If interested, be sure to subscribe to his You Tube site for he forecasts each sign every week. One more thing before you read further, be sure to see Pure Derek Hough for more with Amber and Derek as DonaMadrina has personally studied and forecasted what is in Derek’s Astrological forecast and it is fascinating to say the least.

Ok, ready? Here we go:

Corbin and Karina:

Corbin Bleu – Born February 21st, A Pisces born on the Aquarius/Pisces Cusp
Positive traits: energetic, success oriented, a need to prove themselves, concerned, caring
Negative traits: insecure, pessimistic, isolated
Other famous Aquarians born in the same weekly time period: Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, John McEnroe, John Travolta

Karina – Born January 2nd, Capricorn
Positive traits: hard working, ambitious, determined, extremely dedicated, capable
Negative traits: dogmatic, bottled up, tyrannical
Other famous Capricorns born in the same weekly period; Oprah Winfrey, Mary Tyler Moore, Donna Summer

Union Together: These two may be opposites being Capricorn is normally reserved and ‘all business’ versus Aquarius’ sense of adventure and playful side. However note how Corbin was born on the cusp of Pisces as well which means he may have an intuitive and imaginative side. The fish can swim high or low….and their moods can do the same. In turn and with all the above combinations, they may have a way of soaking each other up like a sponge when it comes to educating and learning from one another and I definitely think this is what we’ve been seeing in them both along their journey. Do you agree?

Amber and Derek:

Amber – Born February 15th, Aquarius
Positive traits: friendly, inventive, progressive, lively, affectionate
Negative traits: irritated, vulnerable
Other famous Aquarians born in the same weekly period: Jane Seymour, Roberta Flack, Carole King

Derek – Born May 17th, Taurus
Positive traits: caring, persevering, passionate, endures, full of grace, fun loving, imaginative, adventuresome
Negative traits: rebellious, frustrated
Other famous Taureans born in the same weekly period: Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper

Union Together: These two signs together may have some conflicts …especially in the beginning. Taurus likes to control while Aquarian wants to be independent and find their own way. However, one thing they do share is a common passion for all things in life….and a grace, warmth, and caring for others (animals and people alike) as well as being lively and adventuresome. They also share a rebellious trait when challenged and times get tough as they both just want to fight that much harder. If these two can find a mutual balance and respect what makes the other tick in the conflicting times, tremendous things are possible. In other words, when they have found that happy spot, watch out. They are unstoppable, enthusiastic, and creative. Is this what we’re seeing in these two? I think so.

More with these two at Pure Derek Hough.

Jack and Cheryl:

Jack – Born November 8th, Scorpio
Positive Traits: passionate, brave, intense, serious, steadfast, a worthy adversary
Negative Traits: Worries, depressed easily, escapist
Other famous Scorpios born in the same weekly period: Sally Field, Tatum O’Neal, Will Rogers

Cheryl – Born May 3rd, Taurus
Positve Characteristics: enterprising, fair, magnetic, teacher
Negative Characteristics: demanding, critical, inflexible
Other famous Taureans born in the same weekly period: Sigmund Frued, Eva Peron, Audrey Hepburn

Union Together: Think ‘the best of friendship’ with these two. Though these two can also be Read more..

PureDWTS New Guest Poem For Week 10: “A Marvelous Maksim-Um Monday Night”

Our resident poet, Lois, is back with another one of her energetic poems and this time for Dancing With The Stars week 10! She puts it all into perspective. Well done again, Lois!

MY POEM FOR WEEK TEN

A MARVELOUS MAKSIM-UM MONDAY NIGHT!

The semi-finals was A MARVELOUS MAKSIM-UM MONDAY NIGHT!
MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY returned in a blaze of glory, a glorious sight

This was deemed by the ballroom as MAKSIM’S “JUDGE”MENT DAY
He took his place of honor with Carrie Ann, Len, Bruno, came to play

The opening was fit for a KIng, a Golden Masked Ball, a sparkling fete
The dancers whirling, twirling, and swirling, a sparkling, sensational feat

A twist of the music faced the dancers, two versions of the same song
Two dances were performed, a comparison struck as they went along

The Cha-Cha-Cha of Bill and Emma, bloomed with fit syncopation beat
Their Argentine Tango oozed passion, intensity, a floating, very sexy treat

The Tango of Corbin and Karina afire with a fiery, ferocious, fierce tone
Their Rumba strikingly beautiful with magical movements, as if all alone

The Paso Doble of Leah and Tony high-stepping, neat, sharp, precise
Their Argentine Tango to a string ensemble, soaring with lifts so nice

The Jazz by Derek, Amber, a happy, slappy, snappy, clappy, hand jive
Their Viennese Waltz tempting, teasing, tantalizing, twirling, came alive

The Jazz by Jack and Cheryl, a razz-ma-tazzled, snazzle-jazzled dance
Their Argentine Tango full of dynamic, intense, daring, passion, romance

The dancing complete on A MARVELOUS MAKSIM-UM MONDAY NIGHT
Leah and Tony eliminated one week short in the Mirror Ball Trophy fight

Next week the Fabulous Two-Night Finale, Monday and Tuesday will be
A superb, spectacular, scintillating, stunning two nights of Must-See TV!

DWTS Carrie Ann Inaba Writes About The Final Four, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, And More

Carrie Anne Inaba wrote about last night’s dances at Parade.com. She also talks of Maks and how they are so much alike. As I started to read over her words, I knew right where it was heading being they are both “Capricorns”. Below are her thoughts about the final four….

Now, I have to say that at the beginning of the season, I would never in a million years have guessed that our finalists would have turned out to be Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, Corbin Blue and Karina Smirnoff, Amber Riley and Derek Hough, and Bill Engvall and Emma Slater. I thought for sure we’d see Elizabeth Berkley in there as well as either Brant Daughtry, Nicole Snooki P, or Christina Milian. I mean, we had the best set of dancers to start off with in all 17 seasons. We started out with some incredible talent, the likes of which we hadn’t seen since our All-Star Season. I think that’s what made it more exciting in many ways. Losing great dancers like that was frustrating, but it was also fascinating to watch. I know it is frustrating on many levels for those who want the “best dancers” in the finals, but I do think that we have two of the best dancers and two of the most improved in the finals. And this is a nice representation of what the show is about.

I will say that by reading my Twitter feed and commentary, it is quite apparent that the fans and our wonderful audience are really split on how they want this to turn out. Some are absolutely up in arms about Corbin and Amber having so much dance in their background. And there are just as many who are upset that Bill has made it this far. But mostly everyone agrees that Jack deserves to be in the finals. It’s interesting to read all the different opinions. I think it’s fantastic that our audience is so passionate about it. I want to say that learning ballroom after being a “commercial” dancer or a jazz dancer or a hip-hop dancer is not as easy as you think. You have to unlearn many things. There is such a specific technique to ballroom and Latin that it can almost drive a jazz/hip-hop dancer insane. After dancing many years with your weight placed one way, your posture slightly forward for the most part, using your head to accentuate every move, learning to keep your head still, posture completely altered, and the weight placement on your feet different depending on the dance is challenging and extremely frustrating. It’s like dancing in a metal cage after being free to express yourself. But that is what makes this competition so interesting even for those who have had dance experience in their background.

Lots more at Parade.com.

PureDWTS Season 17, Week 10 – Power Rankings Headed Into the Finale

I’m a happy girl for two reasons – most of you can probably guess the first: Bill & Emma made the finale 🙂 The second? Leah & Tony did NOT make the finale, which I find myself even more thankful for after witnessing yet another night of Leah dancing like she’s made of glass.  Did she do the steps and stay on-time? Sure.  But I wasn’t excited or entertained by her dancing, and the choreography she was given wasn’t exactly hard-hitting or particularly challenging…which is funny, because the way she & Tony were acting, you would think they were dancing at a Nicole Scherzinger level of difficulty.  But alas, the judges finally seemed to call attention to her cautious performances, and ultimately she got sent home.  Darn, guys – I know you are all as disappointed as I am that we won’t get to see J.Lo & Chelsea Handler in the audience again 😉

As for Maks judging – I’d say he was definitely much better than Cher, but maybe not quite as constructive as Julianne.  Chalk it up to nervousness or whatnot, but he seemed to ramble a bit – then again, at least the rambling was mostly praise and support for the couple he was critiquing.  And much like Julianne & Cher, he tended not to rock the boat a whole lot in terms of scores – there were a couple deviations here and there, but I don’t think they’re going to matter much in the great scheme of things.  I know, Amber & Derek fans, you’re pissed about the “9” he gave them for their jazz – but really, it’s one point amongst 350 that were given out last night, and her score was near-perfect.  Was it petty of him? Maybe.  But is it going to affect the outcome of the competition? Likely not.  I’m big into being selective about what I get upset about these days 😉

On the whole, I think we got the best group of finalists we could ask for – we’ve got a high level of skill (Corbin), a high level of entertainment (Amber), a guy who’s really improved (Jack), and a funny guy that just seems to appeal to the masses (Bill).  There’s a little something for everybody, and I feel like all the couples left genuinely like each other and there’s not an ounce of bad blood between any of them, celeb or pro.  I’m calling this the “feel-good finale”, because it’s the first time in a long time (possibly EVER) that I don’t really care who wins – I’d be fine with any of the four walking away with the trophy.  Sure, I’d love to see Bill hoist that trophy, but I know that it’s not likely to happen, and I’m just thankful that he’s gotten this far 🙂

1.) Amber & Derek – I’m giving Amber a slight edge over Corbin this week, simply due to cleanliness – both of her routines were near flawlessly executed, with a lot of synchronization in her jazz in particular.  I really enjoyed it, although I knew right off the bat that at least one of the judges (likely Len) was going to bitch about “too much sitting down” – to be fair, the opening section, as cool as it was, was really more of a hip-hop/tutting section than it was jazz, and I think that’s why Len just couldn’t really process it…even if he did think it was as cool and visually stimulating as I found it to be.  But it was a clever way for Derek to keep Amber off those injured knees, so I appreciated it, and once they finished it they did move into some more traditional jazz choreography.  I thought their Viennese waltz was very pretty, if not a tad repetitive – but then again, I’d rather take well-executed & repetitive over the “barely moving, dancing on eggshells” vibe I got from Leah & Tony.  I still think these two will be one of the last two standing with Corbin, but I’m not really sure which direction the odds are going to tip in – I think it could hinge upon the freestyle.

2.) Corbin & Karina – Two potentially perfect routines from these two last night – but the first one seemed to suffer from “excited puppy syndrome” and I think they may have tried to jam-pack a little too much into their tango, as it seemed to get a little hectic & sloppy at times.  Loved the theme and mood – but the execution wasn’t quite there.  Several frame issues, a couple bobbles on some dips and and trick moves – I’m just hoping that they can resist the urge to pack too much into their freestyle, because I could see them having similar problems…and I think it really could come down to the freestyle this season.  Their rumba was much better, and I’m thinking the slower pace allowed Corbin to really focus more on the technique and overall performance, which was beautiful & haunting.  I love Karina’s rumbas 🙂 As I said before, I still think it’s going to come down to these two and Amber & Derek in the final two, and it may come down to who has the better freestyle – Amber may have the edge there by virtue of having Derek, but I think Corbin may have the edge in that he isn’t injured and can do a bit more than Amber.  Will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

3.) Jack & Cheryl – As I was watching Jack dance last night, I found myself saying “I’m gonna be really, really disappointed if this guy does not make the finale.” And this is coming from someone that has rooted for Bill all season long – after Jack had danced his 2nd dance, I had resigned myself to the fact that I probably was not going to get both Jack & Bill in the finale, and was ready to forego having Bill if it meant Jack could stay, because he really has had a lovely journey this season.  And the best part: Cheryl’s been there with him every step of the way.  I seriously think Jack was what the doctor ordered for Cheryl – seeing her in tears last night after dancing with him showed me that she’s got a newfound investment in the show, but also that she does have feelings…feelings that had been hard to see underneath a perceived indifference I saw from her the past few seasons.  But all that aside – I think Jack had a pretty good night last night.  While his jazz wasn’t my favorite (likely because Jack is just downright MAJESTIC in-hold, and this was predominantly open work), he still looked really invested in it, and I did enjoy some of the lifts.  His Argentine tango was the dance of the night for me – once again, Jack comes alive in-hold, and really seems to lead Cheryl; and those lifts were both creative and well-executed.  Even his footwork was looking sharp and on-point…and I loved every moment of it 🙂 I think Corbin & Amber probably have 1st and 2nd place on lock this time, but I’m hoping that Jack really gets the chance to wow us with a freestyle to pull out 3rd place.

4.) Bill & Emma – What can I say about Bill & Emma that I haven’t already been saying all season? He just makes me smile when he dances 🙂 It’s not about technique or rhythm when I watch him dance – it’s all about how invested in the dance he is, despite any difficulties he’s having with the technical aspects of the dance.  Was his cha-cha off-time? Sure.  But it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of it.  I actually thought his Argentine tango was kinda impressive, though – he had some nice leg lines and handled the lifts and the character of the dance well, and I have to commend Emma for some Derek-esque cleverness in choreographing a good portion of the dance around a chair, since Bill was fighting with a groin injury. I’m both shocked and thankful that they made the finale (even though I know the Rioters are a force to be reckoned with ;-)), and I’m actually really looking forward to what Emma pulls out for a freestyle.  I think I read somewhere on Twitter last night that this is the first time since Lacey in season 7 that a first-time pro has made the finale – cool to see some new blood showing off their freestyle skills.  I doubt Bill & Emma can hope for much more than 4th place, but at least we get to see them dance one last time and they get to say they’re finalists 🙂

So what did you guys think of last night’s show? Did the right people make it into the finale?

Maks Chmerkovskiy DWTS17 Judging Media, GRADE And VOTE in NEW POLLS On His Judging

Maks Chmerkovskiy flew to New York last night so he could talk about judging Dancing With The Stars on Good Morning America. He comments how judging wasn’t as easy as he thought it would be, but, he tried to be fair and as true to himself as he could be. You can also watch Leah and Tony in this interview talking on their departure….

Also, People.com is featuring a new article with Karina Smirnoff talking of his judging. Below is a little take for what she said at Mixology last night for how he did a “superb job”.

“He did a superb job,” Smirnoff, 35, raved to PEOPLE at an after party for the show at Mixology 101 in L.A., right after learning she’d be in next week’s finals. “He’s been on our side as a dancer. He knows how much work we put in and how many hours of rehearsals it takes. I was looking forward to him being the Maks that we all know who doesn’t have a lot of filter, but he was actually very nice. I don’t know [why he was being nice], but I liked it. I’ll take that Maks over the other Maks any day.”

Added Bleu, 24, “He ended up giving constructive criticism and yet he also ended up telling everybody an incredible compliment about themselves.”

So, for fun, let’s get your thoughts and some numbers. In the new Polls below, grade how you think Maks did as a judge on Dancing With The Stars last night! Also, would you like to see him judge Dancing With The Stars again? Let us know how you voted in comments.
