I can’t get enough of this new Super Bowl Ad!! If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a must see! I love the messages in it!! If it’s broke or if it doesn’t work, then she finds another way!! “One Bold Choice” indeed and look where it’s lead her. A message for us all! Photo above is courtesy of Amy’s twitter. Also, if you go to News Wheel, you can see a cool dance shot of her too along with a quote about the commercial. Go Amy! We’re so proud of you and honored and glad that you did Dancing With The Stars!
I believe in the power of intention. This time last year I made the goal that I was going to get this book written by the end of the year. I told every person I know what my intentions were and it just so happens that my book comes out a day before the year ends! Amazing what happens when you set your mind on something. Going into this new year, make sure to make your intentions and goals clear, tell everyone you know, continue to put it into the Universe and see what happens! ~Amy Purdy at her Facebook December 30, 2014
Looking back, “2014” was a such a special year and wasn’t it even more special for what we shared with Amy Purdy and her journey on Dancing With The Stars. I learned that no matter what happens to us, we can fight back and do it with positivity and grace. Heidi and I were able to chat with Amy about it and her new book “On My Own Two Feet” which is released TODAY in book stores everywhere or you can order it at her website at www.amypurdy.com. Below is a take from the new interview which talks on Dancing With The Stars and Derek Hough. You can read more of our exclusive interview with Amy at Pure Derek Hough. THANK YOU, AMY!xx
So, do you talk about your life’s journey and Dancing With The Stars in your new book?
I do, absolutely! I felt it was a perfect way to sum up this long journey that I have been on .. from losing my legs at the age of 19 to where I stand today. The majority of the public know me from DWTS but don’t know the journey it took to get where I am today. This book is my memory of it.
How did you first find out that you’d be doing Dancing With The Stars? Also, when and how did you feel when you first found out you were paired up with Derek Hough? Was your first meeting with Derek one you won’t forget?
Last fall I was contacted by An executive producer of the show. At that time I had been in the media quite a bit over the years for different projects that I was involved in and with the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics many brands were supporting me and also promoting my story and athletic accomplishments. So, that’s how the producers found out about me. When I first spoke to the producers I thought ” am I crazy?!” ” is this even possible?!” But as nervous as I was I was curious enough to want to find out.
To be honest, I never really watched the show before. I have been so busy over the last few years that I rarely even sit down and watch tv! I remembered the few times flipping through the channels and seeing the show, but I didn’t really know who Derek was. I’m actually happy that I didn’t know the “Derek Hough” that the rest of the world seemed to be in love with, otherwise I may have been a bit more nervous! Although I didn’t know much of him going into the show I realized quickly that he was an absolute creative genius and I couldn’t have been more lucky to have him as my partner.
And to answer your question. Yes, that first moment meeting Derek and knowing that I was going to be on DWTS is a memory I will never forget! I remember thinking ” oh my gosh I can’t believe I’m really doing this!”
Lots more at Pure Derek Hough.
Did you happen to see Amy Purdy and Meryl Davis on Live Access Monday night? If not, you can watch them below. I thought some of their advice for the contestants was fun. “Be in the moment” was one of them!
Amy Purdy, Joey Fatone, Julianne Hough And More Attend Mark Ballas’ ‘Kicking Clouds’ Debut Party (Photos)
What a fun party this must have been last night for Mark Ballas’ ‘Kicking Clouds’ Debut Party. Lots of Dancing With The Stars cast members and friends made a showing like Derek Hough, Witney Carson, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Lindsay Arnold, and Julianne Hough. Former cast members like Amy Purdy, Candace Cameron Bure, and Joey Fatone were in attendance as well. More photos at Getty Images.
ETA: PopTVDotCom was able to catch people going in and out of party. They talked to some of them too about Dancing With The Stars. Mark’s girlfriend is so pretty. Shirley is so proud of her boy…
Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater have been travelling much of the week, but, they a took time for some Dancing With The Stars interviews. Below they talk about their expectations going into the show. They also talk about the competition. Also, check how they are seeking advise from Amy Purdy (let’s hope she sees this video and takes part. That would be so fun). So cute and funny as always.
This is just so fun not to post about. Amy Purdy made a surprise appearance at the Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado to sing with Wynonna Judd to “Why Not Me”! For some fun photos, see this link. Happy Labor Day!!
What a wake up call today. Derek Hough, Gleb Savchenko, Mark Ballas, Shirley Ballas, Witney Carson, and Lindsay Arnold attended the OK! TV Awards Party at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles, California last night. Also, Amy Purdy, Sasha Farber, and Emma Slater were there as well. Mark Ballas also performed. Be sure to see Getty Images for lots more pictures of them all. Looking over that link makes me wonder if there are some celebs there who will be on the new season of Dancing With The Stars?
Give it up for Dancing With The Stats! Last night, our favorite show won two Creative Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Series” and “Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series”!! Tom Bergeron and Derek Hough didn’t win in their nominated categories, but, what an honor to be nominated none the less. They are always winners to us. To see a complete list of the winners, see E Online. Below are pictures of Derek Hough and Amy Purdy gracing the Red Carpet. Beautiful! If you’d like to see more pictures and coverage see Pure Derek Hough and Getty Images.
Just a few more things from the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards. First, and in case you weren’t able to watch them on The CW Network last night, check out Pure Derek Hough. We’ve added some video of Derek Hough dancing with his Move Live On Tour dancers. It’s awesome. They killed that stage. Heidi added some more HQ photos too. *sigh*
Also don’t miss Kristyn Burtt’s interviews with Mark Ballas, Derek Hough, and Amy Purdy at the Red Carpet Closet. They talk on their summer and current projects. Mark and Derek also talk on Dancing With The Stars and if they are returning. Kristyn also has a summary of her interviews at She Knows. Here is a little take….
Ballas was asked about his inspiring new single and said it was an awesome song for all women. “I want them to feel sexy no matter what shape, race or color.” The dancer-singer-songwriter added that he just wants all women to feel empowered when they hear his tune.
“All women that’ll hear this song will feel sexy and confident,” Ballas continued, “They’ll be like ‘That’s my song!'”
Derek talked about the success of his sold-out tour and how happy he’s been with the response. “It was amazing. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”
As far as coming back for Season 19 of DWTS, Hough joked he “may come back as a curtain.” But, as there are still many challenges left to be accomplished on the dance competition series, the blond dancer may just come back for one more go.
Lastly, Glamour interviewed Mark, Derek, and Amy Purdy. Below is more for what they found out out about their projects and future on Dancing With The Stars. Be sure to read the link for more. Note the mentions on Oprah….
Here’s the thing: Every season on DWTS, Derek wants to be inspired. Rightfully so. He is the choreographer of our generation. Even though Derek didn’t take home Mirrorball number six last season, it was probably his most rewarding season to date, thanks to his partnership with Amy. So is there anything left? “I don’t know yet,” he admitted to me at the Young Hollywood Awards (airing tonight on the CW). “I have a few weeks [to decide].”
The rumor is that after a grueling tour schedule (Derek and sister Julianne finished their Move Live tour in Los Angeles on Saturday night), an upcoming book launch (Taking the Lead: Lessons From a Life in Motion), and numerous other projects, the Emmy-winning choreographer is ready for a break—or a new challenge. “I just want to be inspired,” he stated quite matter-of-factly.
If there’s anyone to inspire him to sign up for more Dancing, it’s Oprah. In fact, Derek and Amy are finally planning their much-talked about lunch with Lady O. “I’m seeing her in two weeks,” he revealed. Amy is actually going to team up with Oprah on her “Life That You Want” tour, and Derek has been invited to perform with Amy. Does all that bonding time with Oprah mean something more? Could Oprah actually join DWTS and partner up with Derek? “That would be amazing! Or we could just start up a whole new dance show on OWN and call it Own the Dance Floor!” he joked. “OK, that was awful. [Laughs]”
Meanwhile, Derek’s best friend, colleague, and all-around “package deal” (his words, not mine) Mark Ballas revealed a little bit of insight into DWTS negotiations. According to Mark, the reason that none of the pro-dancers have committed yet is that none of them has actually been offered a deal. “We usually don’t get the call until about five days before,” he revealed. “It’s usually that late, so we’ll see.”
Wow, Oprah doing Dancing With The Stars would be amazing, but, I doubt she’d do it. And let’s hope we find out more soon on whether Mark and Derek will be back for Dancing With The Stars Season 19!! *keeping my fingers crossed*
