Did ABC say “No” to Men Dancing Together on Dancing with the Stars?

Note the question mark in the title. I have no idea if this is true but I saw it yesterday and decided to report on it. I only hesitated yesterday because it was only showing up on a business blog. Still today, none of the mainstream media has picked it up (that I’ve seen) and run with it, despite the original source being TMZ (click to read the whole article).  Gay marriage is legal in how many states and there are how many openly gay characters on network television??  So, what’s the deal here…if true?

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ, the issue came up over an upcoming performance by an openly gay artist who goes by the name, Who Is Fancy. The performance is set for November 23, where he will debut his new song, “Boys Like You,” featuring Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, who will also appear on the show.

The song is about a man falling in love with another man. We’ve learned Who Is Fancy’s choreographer sent an email to a ‘DWTS’ producer, saying, it would “be an awesome look to have 2 males dancing with each other.”

Our sources say the ‘DWTS’ honchos discussed it and a producer fired back an email, saying, “Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network.”

Apparently, it’s okay for Carlos and Alek to dance “near” each other. Wonder how the network felt about Val and Carlos doing salsa together??

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. One of my favorite dancing quotes at the moment: "No matter what, nobody can take away the dance you've already had...." ~Gleb Savchenko .
