DWTS Season 12 Casting Rumors – The Typecasting of Season 12, Part II

In part one of my typecasting analysis, we took a look at who we might get from the Olympian, athlete, model, comedian, legend, & soap star categories.  Now let’s take a look at the other 6 categories and speculate on who else we might see before tonight’s cast announcement!

EDITOR’S NOTE: The site is getting hit with an extraordinary amount of hits right now (which is great! :-D) but it’s also slowing us bloggers down while we post – hence, there are no links in this edition because it’s just taking too long to add them all in.  However, you can access all of the DWTS casting rumors in Vogue’s post from the other day if you need a refresher on some of these :-)

The Teen Idol

Previous examples: Joey McIntyre, Aaron Carter, Donny Osmond, Lance Bass, Mel B., Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Joey Lawrence, Ian Ziering, Cody Linley, Sabrina Bryan, Mario Lopez, Kyle Massey

Advantages: If sales of Tiger Beat are any indicator, the teenyboppers will come out in full force to support their favorite heartthrobs/idols.  Being young & good-lookin’ sure doesn’t hurt! Many also have the added advantage of having a decent dance background, especially if they were part of a musical act.

Disadvantages: Youth can also have its disadvantages – as in immaturity.  What some might call “youthful exuberance”, others might call “immaturity” or “attention deficit disorder” – poor Cody Linley had a hard time sitting still! Emotional immaturity (a la Aaron Carter’s post-rumba meltdown in the confessional) can be especially off-putting.

Possible candidates this season: I think the Lindsay Lohan rumor has been almost completely shot down, but Full House fans have been campaigning for both Jodie Sweetin & Candace Cameron Bure in the online voting.  I’ve also seen a surge of support within the past few days for New Kids on the Block member Jonathan Knight to do the show.

The Host

Previous examples: Jerry Springer, Brooke Burke, Leeza Gibbons, Mario Lopez, Kenny Mayne, Lisa Rinna, Tucker Carlson, Mark Dacascos, Rocco DiSpirito, Erin Andrews

Advantages: Being that they’ve been at the helm of their own shows, these guys usually have the media savvy & charisma to appeal to the masses, as well as the previous exposure & recognizability.  Most (not all!) are also decently attractive, which never seems to hurt (unless, of course, you’re a model – see previous post for explanation).

Disadvantages: Many hosts are only used to hosting – as in just sitting down & talking (or dodging the occasional punch, if you’re Springer), so the lack of movement experience problem seems to come into play.

Possible candidates this season: Wendy Williams name has been repeated quite a bit, although Joan Rivers’ name was out there for awhile as a possible contestant.

The Actor

Previous examples: John O’Hurley, Melissa Joan Hart, Steve Guttenburg, John Ratzenberger, Debi Mazar, Denise Richards, Ted McGinley, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennie Garth, Vivica Fox, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Shannen Doherty, Jennifer Grey, David Hasselhoff

Advantages: Being that their bread & butter is acting, most can usually nail the emotions of the dances. Bonus points if they’ve done any Broadway (like Winokur) because they have likely had dance experience.

Disadvantages: For lack of a better term, many of them seem to be “has-beens” – actors that haven’t been particularly active in the mainstream in the past several years – or were never that big to begin with (can anyone else think of anything John O’Hurley has been in BESIDES Seinfeld?), making it harder for them to garner votes from a public who may not remember them.

Possible candidates this season: Lorenzo Lamas has been claiming he’s on the casting “short list” for weeks now, so we’re thinking he’s a lock.

The Reality Star

Previous examples: Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, Melissa Rycroft, Steve-O, Holly Madison, Trista Sutter, Shanna Moakler, Kate Gosselin, Jake Pavelka, Audrina Patridge, The Situation

Advantages: Many have achieved pop culture icon status on their respective reality outlets, making them fairly recognizable.

Disadvantages: They may be memorable for the wrong reasons – people tended to remember things like Kim Kardashian’s sex tape more than her reality show, and people seemed more focused on Holly Madison’s split from Hef than her antics on The Girls Next Door.  Many can also come across as attention-hungry & talentless – reality TV is often looked down upon as a way to get famous without having any talent whatsoever.

Possible candidates this season: Aside from the omnipresent Heidi Montag rumor and ridiculous rumors about both NeNe Leakes & Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we’ve also heard of former Idol contestant Danny Gokey gunning for a spot.

The Singer:

Previous examples: Mya, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mario, Belinda Carlisle, Master P, Chuck Wicks, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, Toni Braxton, Macy Gray, Nicole Scherzinger

Advantages: As with the teen idols, many have had dance experience concurrent with their music careers.

Disadvantages: Most seem to be committed solely to one genre of music (often R&B or country), making it hard to appeal to a wide fanbase.

Possible candidates this season: There’s been big campaigns in the online voting for both Zack Wilde & Paul Byrom, but nothing really “legit” to go off of.

The Wild Card

Previous examples: Heather Mills, Tom DeLay, Mark Cuban, Steve Wozniak, Priscilla Presley, Buzz Aldrin, Bristol Palin

Advantages: The sheer novelty of having someone with such an off-the-beaten-path claim to fame (famous divorcee/widow, entrepreneur, disgraced politician, etc.) may be enough to have the public voting them – just to see what happens.  Being the “underdog” is a powerful thing…as we saw with Bristol last season!

Disadvantages: Due to their often dubious fame, people just may not have any clue who they are – I personally had to Google Mark Cuban’s name. There’s also the risk of backlash from some viewers who don’t think they’re “stars” per se, and shouldn’t even be on the show in the first place.

Possible candidates this season: Not sure if it was the hailstorm of controversy from Bristol last season or what, but this category was booming with rumors this season – everyone from Tony Robbins to Christine O’Donnell to Al Sharpton to Brooke Mueller.  Will any of them actually do the show? That remains to be seen.

So we’re mere hours away from the official announcement, gang – who do you think is in and who do you think is just wishful thinking? Be sure to check back here for Heidi’s Casting Announcement Live Blog starting at 8 PM EST…she (and the rest of us) suffer through The Bachelor so you don’t have to :-) And make sure you’re following @puredwts & @tvblog on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates on who’s in!

DWTS – Wednesday Media, Videos, Interviews, and More

Just a few things to share with you today! How is everyone??

First up, did you see Derek and Cheryl on “Live with Regis and Kelly” yesterday? If not, you can see their fun interview and dance in the videos below. Thanks to Heidi and Pure Derek Hough for these.

Do you love watching Derek’s faces when he dances like I do? :)

Corky posted this fun interview on his Twitter last night of he and Florence getting interviewed after the Finale show. She is so cute!

In some more serious news, Access Hollywood is reporting that Jennifer’s “next move” is surgery. Jennifer told them that she would take care of the injury she sustained last Monday night before Tuesday’s finale show. She plans to have the surgery this week or sometime next week. Check her out. She’s so brave and says it won’t be a big deal.

Kyle Massey reveals his future plans too to Access Hollywood. I have a feeling this isn’t the last we will see of this funny guy.

Karina revealed more of her marriage plans to fiancé Brad Penny on Access Hollywood this week. She is as giddy as ever.

Lastly, Julianne Hough was interview by YDR while attending the Red carpet for “Burlesque”. She answered some questions about her career, family, DWTS, and love life “. Here is a take. Be sure to read the link for more.

Where are you coming from? I was in Nashville for a day, which was great because I was home. I missed my sister’s birthday, so I got to take her out and do a whole girly spa day.

You have a pretty big family. Yes. In my immediate (family) it’s not too bad. There (are) five kids. My parents split up and remarried, so there (are) 14 kids, which means there are probably 23 nieces and nephews. (Laughs) It’s kind of confusing.

You spent a lot of time in Europe studying dance as a kid. What was that like? Going over there as a 10-year-old, you think they are still going to be wearing big dresses and using horse-drawn carriages. I was so disappointed when everybody drove cars and was on trains. But it was a great experience. I really think I’m where I’m at today because of it.

What was it like to land “DWTS?” When (producers) asked me to do the show, I first said, “no,” because I wanted to act and sing. It was such a great opportunity. In my first two seasons, I got to be with two great athletes (who) really listened to me. (Laughs)

Your brother Derek Hough recently won “DWTS” with Jennifer Grey. Did you watch? It was exciting, but it’s kind of depressing. We were both tied for two (wins). Now he’s got three. It’s not fair. (Laughs) I was shooting “Footloose” this season, so I couldn’t watch every day. I tried to YouTube him.

What did you think of Bristol Palin? There seemed to be a lot of controversy about her this season. Apparently, I’ve said a lot of it. My foot gets in my mouth every time I say anything. I can understand why she (was) in the competition so long because people vote for who they want to vote for. But I definitely think there were (other) people who probably should have been in the final.

Ok, that is it for now in media out there. If you haven’t done so yet, please VOTE in our “Pure DWTS End Of Season Awards>>>> HERE !! It’s too fun. Let your voice be heard on everything DWTS this Season. ;)

DWTS Season 11, Week 7 – Another Shocking Elimination & New Unfair Gimmick Coming

I don’t know about all of you, but, this has to be the strangest and most unpredictable DWTS season I’ve ever experienced. First, they announced this lack luster cast. Then many of us we’re pleasantly surprised to find ourselves drawn to them. Then bang, the judges start hitting them where it doesn’t count and giving good scores to those who don’t deserve them and the list goes on. The result: all of these unknown, shocking eliminations. I think it’s safe to say at this point that not one of this Season’s couples are safe no matter how well they dance. I’ll be scared for them all every week from this time forward. :o

If that’s not all, and some of you have mentioned in our blogs, the producers are now throwing another challenge to the dancers this upcoming week one of which includes practicing to one of their two dances without any music until showtime next Monday. Special thanks to Heidi sending me this interview with Maks from E On-line while I was on a business and shopping run to Colorado yesterday which mentions this new gimmick. What the ?? Can the dancers or us take much more of these so-called “gimmicks”?

What dance are you and Brandy working on for next week?
We’re doing the waltz as our main dance and then there’s this new crazy thing where they’re going to give us the dance after the show tonight but they won’t give us the music. So we’re going to have to prepare a dance without the music and get the music next Monday [during the show] and…we’ll have 20 minutes to prepare our dance.

It seems like the producers are trying to make it really hard on everyone.I’m not really sure if I think it’ll make for great TV. I just think it’s absolutely unnecessary pressure on celebrities that are already under pressure. But I’m not the producer. It’s not my show. What the production doesn’t realize is that it doesn’t make it any easier or harder on the celebrities. It makes it harder for the professionals. It’s really unfair to us because we are doing way too much.

Maks and Brandy talk more on this new gimmick here;

Anyway, to Rick Fox! Many of us are sorry to see him leave which includes all of his fellow dancing competitors. They talk in interviews on him, how they’ve made it this far, as well as a little on their future dances.

Bristol and Mark;

Kurt and Anna;

Brandy;

Jennifer and Derek;

Kyle and Lacey;

Finally, here’s Rick and Cheryl on his dancing experience;

DWTS Season 11, Week 7 – Some Backstage Media After The Show

What an awesome show last night! I can’t say more good things about it. The couples and everyone interviewed seemed very happy in general too for how they performed. Here’s some video coverage backstage.

Here is Brandy and Maks ecstatic as ever! I love Brandy’s reaction over what Maks says on her;

Here is Jennifer and her family being interviewed (including Joel Grey)! I love what she says about being a “Warrior”. Her daugher is so adorable and looks just like her.;

Here are a couple of fun recaps and after party coverage;

Here’s a pic Maks tweeted at the after party.

Lastly, check out Derek as well on the Red Carpet. The photographer caught his amazing energy in just the right form.

Ok, that is all for now. More later and here’s to the Results Show tonight! ;)

DWTS, Season 11, Week 7 – Las Vegas Odds, Who Will Win?

Interesting. I think the winner will be between Jennifer and Brandy too despite what happened last week with the Judges trying to railroad and control this competition. What do you think? From USA Players and Online Betting Guide, check out these odds;

Fans are eagerly awaiting week 7 of Dancing With The Stars. Each week we get closer to crowning the next champion of Dancing With The Stars. This week has indubitably been a very competitive one, and things will only heat up in the weeks to come.

Dancing with the Stars – Season 11: Who will win?

Jennifer Grey -120
Brandy +210
Rick Fox +400

DWTS Season 11, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What….and When?

So, our theme of the week is, I guess, that we will bring back as many old competitors as possible for the 200th episode. On the face of it, that doesn’t sound so bad, does it?  And the very best part is that we apparently get an all pro dance to open the show on Monday night.  Julianne is in town – wonder if we get to see her too?  I realized last week that I missed her terribly from the show right now. I’m going to try very, very hard to not let the show annoy the hell out of me and just enjoy all it’s cheesiness. (Heh – Amen my sister at MSNBC)

Anyway, the part that doesn’t sound so good is the “guest judges” – Gilles, Kelly, Emmett, Helio, Drew and Mel B.  I believe I read somewhere that Gilles is judging Brandy and Maks – and I think that is about the extent of my knowledge on the topic.  I’m actually living in a state of denial on this 4th judge thing. Potentially horrendous idea unless they’re all pushovers who save us from the likes of Carrie Ann and the occasionally cranky Len. I don’t think any of them, particularly Kelly, are in any position to judge.

If that wasn’t enough crap thrown into one episode, we also have the re-vamped team dances. I always liked the team dances a good deal as I like seeing the everyone work together.  The Kristi and Apollo team captain thing – that’s largely a sham, since Apollo hasn’t been in LA all week, but on a book signing tour. That’s going to be all for show, I imagine, and probably a good deal of fun, since we get Derek, Maks, Apolo and Kurt all on one extremely YUMMY team. :-)  Win or lose, they’ll be hot and testosterone-y. :-)  Still not sure how the judging is going to work and there is a high potential for bad dancing or injury this week. If everything I’m seeing and hearing is correct, there could be as many as 2 pro dances – all pros involved. Normally I would love this, but I’m seeing a ton of tweets from very tired pro dancers – 2 pro dances, a team dance and an individual dance? Hope no one gets hurt.

:::sigh::: Anyway. Guest judges, team dances with guest captains, returning celebs and pros…why do I feel exhausted already??  Both teams are doing Cha Cha Cha, with Kristi’s team using her and Mark’s freestyle as a theme (Workin’ Day and Night).  Apolo told his team today to “Bust a Move”, so…..  Here’s the individual dances for each of the teams (I’ll update if I hear/read more):

Bristol and Mark – Viennese Waltz
Song: Drew’s or Kelly’s??

Kurt and Anna – Tango; Dancing 2nd
Song: Emmett and Cheryl ?? (Thanks to Buttercup in the comments)

Rick and Cheryl – Quickstep; Dancing 4th
Song: Helio and Julianne ?

Brandy and Maks – Foxtrot
Song: Gilles and Cheryl’s Foxtrot – “Fever” by Michael Buble (Thanks to Carlos in the comments)

Jennifer and Derek – ?? No one appears to know. Likely either Quickstep or Tango.
Song: Drew’s or Kelly’s???

Kyle and Lacey – ?Paso Doble?; Dancing 1st (thanks to Tiago and Tiffany in the comments for the heads up)
Song: Mel B and Maks ?

Team Dances – Team Kristi is dancing first.

ETA: Julianne in da house – but no clue if she’ll do any dancing.

Derek uses the phrase “stopped by” in reference to this picture:

Dang, Bergeron tweets that Jules can’t be there tonight. And also a pic of the back of the audience area.

Bergeron is a tweeting madman. :-)

DWTS 11 – Hallows Eve And One More Day Until Show Time Media!

Just a few things to share with you on the “calm before the storm”. lol

First up, and special thanks to fan Moeynj, we have a new blog from Cheryl writing about last weeks dances and what’s to come this week. Here is a snippet from it from MSN Reality TV.

I was so proud of Rick this week. Our tango was powerful and intense. I also felt that the passion that the judges keep saying is lacking in Rick was really there. You could really feel it in the audience.

The dance marathon was fun to do. We all got the chance to be a little crazier in how we presented on the dance floor, and we also got to do lifts.

As far as the elimination this week, I’ve learned through all of my seasons on the show to expect the unexpected. It was sad to see Audrina leave. She really had so much more to show the audience with her dancing. You have to bring your all every week and let the audience decide your fate. I really don’t think Audrina deserved to go home at all.

Brandy and Max were in the number one spot again this week. They are doing really well. Brandy is improving each week, and that is what this competition is all about.

Next week Rick and I have the quickstep. For the 200th episode we’re all dancing to songs that were already used on the show, and that produced some of the most memorable moments over the last 10 seasons. We’re going to be judged by the contestant who originally danced to that song. It’s a little daunting, but I think Rick knows how to handle all that additional pressure. He has so many NBC Championships that if there’s one thing he knows–it’s pressure. We also have a team dance Cha Cha that we’ll be doing. We’re on Team Yamaguchi.

Mark also wrote more in his journal yesterday on USA Today. Here is a sneak peak into he and Bristol’s dance and the team dance. Be sure to see more at the link.

This week we have the Viennese Waltz! I had a suspicion that the VW would be our dance step this week.

After the group rehearsal Tuesday night, we spent six hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday getting the routine down. And because Bristol is doing well with it, I feel confident we’ll get the intricacies nailed down this weekend. All she needs is some polish on her toe-pointing, arm movements and head position, which is exactly where she was last week. If you pay attention to her feet and steps, she really is fantastic in that area and in fact, I’m willing to say her footwork is the best in the competition. Take that, competitors!

Speaking of group rehearsal, let’s just say that it’s good to see my old pal Kristi (Yamaguchi). I may or may not be on her team for the group routine, so you’ll have to tune in to see. Group routines typically are not difficult; they’re just quite time consuming. They are such a hurdle because it takes time away from our regular dance routine, which really puts a lot of pressure on Bris to get it all down and remember. We had the first high-intensive group rehearsal Tuesday night, as you know, and our next on is on Saturday.

Here is a little interview Maks gave to E On-Line on this last week’s dances. Check out what he says on his leather pants. lol

First of all, what was up with those leather pants? Were they hard to dance in?It was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been in my entire life I think, because there’s no breathing. It’s obviously pleather and it was not a pleasant experience. Lets just say that my thighs and above are a little bigger than your average rocker’s so I guess the tight leather pants are just not for me. It’s safe to assume it’s not going to happen again.

Brandy was very emotional this week. Is she going to have a nervous breakdown by the end of the season?She’s not a weak person. She’s a very strong person and she just expresses certain things her own way. It’s a hard show and a lot goes into it, and girls—I guess that’s what they do. Girls cry. It pains me to see her cry, and I try to be supportive, but it’s very, very difficult when I’m the only one trying to make her do stuff.

I saw Melanie Griffith in the audience. Have you met her or know anything about her being on the show?Jamie Lee Curtis a big fan of the show and she’s been coming every week. Yesterday, she calls me over and says, “Hey, I have somebody for you to meet.” I’m not going to lie, I almost crapped myself and had a heart attack at the same time. To introduce me to Melanie Griffith, I know exactly who she is. We had Martha Stewart there yesterday. She wants to be on the show. She’s been talking to Erin [Andrews]. It just feels like everybody wants to be on the show. (FYI: Stewart told E!’s own Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning she would need a year to prepare for DWTS)

How tired were you and Brandy doing the rock marathon right after doing your tango?I’m not going to lie to you, [it] cost me probably a liver and a kidney and a lung because this thing was just never ending. They did not make it simple, did they? I’m going to start a petition for next season to do a rumba marathon. Jesus! It was exhausting. We were tired. Where she pulled out the energy to finish, I don’t know.

Speaking of….here is a clip of Maks on “Celebrity Ghost Stories” last night. I’ve been watching You Tube closely and haven’t seen anyone post the full story yet. If anyone sees it posted, be sure to let us know. For those that missed it, it will air again today on the Bio Channel at 1:00pm ET. They will also have it eventually available to watch at Biography.com.

Ok, that wraps this up for now. Have a fun and safe halloween. I leave you with this Halloween vision. Kurt Warner posted this picture on his twitter of he and his wife all dressed up for the occasion. Special thanks to Heidi sending me this. We hope more of the dancers and celebrities will post more pics of themselves in their costumes. We’ll see. ;)

DWTS Season 11, Week 6 – Media Weekend Edition

Gearing up for the show Monday, here are some media things hitting the news this weekend. First, we have Rick and Cheryl on ET showing you their pre-rehearsal rituals and a sneak peak into their quickstep coming up.

Special thanks to PureDWTS fan Carlos for this link and video from Zap2it with Rick disclosing just a tiny hint of what’s to come of their team dance.

“Our team is Kristi Yamaguchi’s team,” Rick tells us, “and we’ll be performing the cha cha to her freestyle with Mark Ballas, the Michael Jackson performance…”

Anna has given us just a tiny hint of her and Kurt’s tango on her Facebook page. Here’s a pic she posted. lol

Here is Bristol and Mark on Access Hollywood. The interviewer focuses a lot on her mother, Sarah. I wish they wouldn’t do that. Shouldn’t they just focus on Bristol and not make this about her Mom always?

Maks has his new blog posted at TV Guide of his and Brandy’s dance last week, the elimination, and the new challenges which face them this week. Here is a take.

As you saw in the package, she felt the pressure to stay on top. She cried, like, four times. I think everybody expresses themselves differently. I realized that when she cries, it’s not necessarily my fault. It was good for her and something she needed to do to let her emotions out. I don’t want her to bottle everything up. I want her to feel good and to feel confident. Unfortunately, the show is such that you have to do it even when you don’t feel confident. When we, the pros, start to push, it’s because we know what the end result will be and should be, but the celebrities don’t, so they get really frustrated. Everybody expresses it differently. I just felt really bad because she didn’t need to beat herself up. She’s doing great and she can relax a little, but she’s very responsible and focused. We didn’t have time to sit down and talk it out after she came back in. I felt like it would be better for her if we didn’t say anything. So we just went right back to dancing and she was hitting every mark. We’re working hard and are doing our best. We want to do great every week so that there’s as much consistency to it as possible and everybody can see that we’re not a one-time deal.

Last week was also tough since Audrina and Tony left. It was terribly unfortunate since they have been doing great and I think had a real shot at the final. I’m not just saying that because Tony is my best friend — they were doing well and had one of the best scores of the night. But, you know, as we’ve seen before, these things happen. You just never know how people are going to vote and how the math all works out. That’s why it’s important for everyone to vote for their favorites. Don’t rely on the judges’ scores.

Next week is the 200th episode and it’s Icon Week. Everyone has to redo a famous routine of a past couple. We have Gilles and Cheryl’s foxtrot. I’m not using the same choreography, but just the style and the idea. It’s not about the doing the same steps. What was successful in their routine was Gilles’ interpretation, so we have to take that and put a feminine twist to it.

Then we have the group cha-cha. We’re on Apolo’s team. We’re still finishing up the choreography. I’ll tell you — we’re absolutely exhausted from our first rehearsal. We did it immediately after the show Tuesday. I am wiped this week! I think we’re going to have a good time. Jennifer and Kurt are on our team. I think the one advantage that the other team has is that Bristol and Kyle have already done the cha-cha, but I don’t think it’ll make that much of a difference. It helps, but it’s not like they’re doing the same routines. We all bring something different and exciting to the table, so now we have to highlight everyone’s strengths.

Here is a new Access Hollywood interview with them as well. RIGHT ON for what Maks said on CARRIE ANNE!!

Also and lastly, for you Maks lovers out there, don’t miss him on Celebrity Ghost Stories tonight on the Bio Channel at 8:00pm ET. Here is what the Examiner reported on him and this special Halloween episode. What a fascinating story this is….

As a teenager, Dancing With the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy was a standout dancer in the youth circuit. After crashing into a pole in a sledding accident, his doctor told him that dancing would never again be a possibility and that the best he could hope for was to walk with a cane. Chmerkovskiy spent three months getting physical therapy in the hospital, often from a woman named Maria who manipulated his shattered leg in strange and powerful ways.

Despite his doctor’s dire predictions, Chmerkovskiy recovered and is now recognized world-wide for his dancing talent on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. Chmerkovskiy invited Maria to the premiere of DWTS, and when she didn’t show up he went to the hospital to look for her. But the hospital insisted that there was no record of the Maria he remembered. Later, Chmerkovskiy and his mother went through some old photographs and came across a picture of his long deceased great grandmother. He recognized her immediately as the ‘Maria’ that helped to heal his leg.

Ok, that is for now! Thanks for reading always!! Have a safe Halloween weekend everyone!xxx ;)

I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. DWTS Season 11, Week 6 – Odds and Ends Media Part 2

Well, I don’t know about you. But, I’m still harping on this past week’s elimination. I don’t know what is up with these Judges this year? They all three take turns being b*tchy every week. Kristen at E On-line thinks so as well. She called Carrie Anne a… well, I’ll let you read below for yourself. lol

Actually, they all did OK. It was Jennifer Grey who ended up with a 20 on her paso doble, including a 6 from Carrie Ann Inaba, the same Carrie Ann who cried after Jennifer’s waltz in week one.

“You need to calm down a little bit,” she sternly told the Dirty Dancing star after a paso doble that seemed to be going really well until Jennifer did indeed lose her control and stumble to the finish line.

“That was totally disjointed,” Carrie Ann continued, pointing out a lift and other flaws in Jen’s paso doble. “You’re like the chosen one, and you’re going downhill.”

OK, Obi-Wan, she gets the point.

Here is Anna talking on the judges and the bad scores and comments along with how much she respects Kurt….

Anyway, like many of you, I hope the judges are a little more careful with the way they critic now and in the future. Every week we see some kind of outragious or over the top remarks or scores. Do they think they need to do this to make the show go? Is DWTS that desperate for ratings? Or are they doing it to “level the playing field” like EW has suggested? If so, is that fair to people who are the better dancers?

At the very end of last night’s Rock Week paso doble to Pink’s “So What” (watch it below), she lost her balance on a turn, then her timing, and propelled herself down to Derek’s knee after the music had ended (but right on cue with some dramatic puffs of steam that complemented the pyrotechnics!). The judges pounced. Now, I agree that her angry paso doble wasn’t as visually stunning as it could’ve been — her legs did look a bit weird as she stomped her way across the dance floor — but a 6, Carrie Ann? I can’t figure that out. Carrie Ann seemed… overly angry. It was as though she took it personally that the contestant she openly admitted was this season’s “Chosen One” had the nerve to screw up. “Jennifer, you need to calm down a little bit. You were out of control,” she said, way to seriously for a celebrity dance competition.* As Annie Barrett noted in her recap, “I had trouble telling whether Jen’s facial expression during the dance conveyed anger or pain, but I’m not sure I saw that.” Carrie Ann continued, telling Jennifer that she should know her limits next time, and try to stay in them. Len and Bruno each gave the couple a 7: Len was the most levelheaded, explaining that the paso is about balance and while Jennifer had the attack, aggression, and attitude, she sacrificed control of her movements; Bruno likened her to a woman on the edge of a nervous breakdown.

None the less, there is something to learn from it, and like Heidi mentioned after the elimination this past week, it’s important that we get out there and vote if we don’t want to see another repeat of what happened to Audrina and Tony. Don’t let the judges rule the day.

What class acts Audrina and Tony have been about it though. They’ve taken the elimination without hard feelings and are making the best of it. She has signed to do a new show on VH1 that begins in January. She’s thankful to DWTS for the exposure. Here they are talking to Jimmy Kimmel.

Here are more details on her new show from NBC Chicago. Note how she will be using Maks and Tony’s dancing studios.

“My new show with [reality TV producer] Mark Burnett just got picked up,” she said backstage after being eliminated from the competetion on the October 26 episode of the show. “It’s going to be on VH1 and we’re going to start filming soon. I’m sure Tony will be on that.”

The Tony she reffered to is her “DWTS” partner, Tony Dovolani, who expressed his desire to appear with the former “Hills” star again.

Dovolani and “DWTS” co-star Maksim Chmerkovskiy are planning to open a new dance studio together and it will serve as a setting in Patridge’s new show.

“I’ll be going to Tony’s new dance studio with my girlfriends and bringing the cameras,” she said.

Though she said she was “in shock” over being kicked off the ABC reality juggernaut, she called her involvement a “great experience.”

She even offered up her thoughts on who would win the competetion.

“I think Brandy’s really good,” she said. “Jennifer [Grey]‘s good too, but Brandy has this drive. She wants it.”

In other DWTS news, would you like to win tickets for the DWTS Finale this year while helping Prostate Cancer Awareness? Here are some details being reported from PR Newswire in a new press release.

Today, AdMeTech Foundation in cooperation with Nick Kosovich of Dancing with the Stars, Arthur Murray International (AMI), Philips Healthcare, Mary Murphy of Fox TV Hit So You Think You Can Dance and other key leaders of the dancing community have launched Dance for the Cure of Prostate Cancer as a national awareness and fundraising campaign to end the prostate cancer crisis. This morning, Dr. Faina Shtern, President of AdMeTech Foundation, John Kimmins, President of AMI and Mr. Kosovich made this announcement at the AMI’s worldwide dancing competition, Superama, which is taking place until October 31 at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Other key leaders of the dancing community offered unprecedented support. ABC’s Dancing with the Stars donated VIP tickets for this season’s Grand Finale for a fundraising drive, and ballroom dance competitions on both the East and the West Coast are featuring Dance for the Cure. Hollywood Dancesport Championships in Los Angeles, California and Commonwealth Classic in Burlington, Massachusetts are leading the way on November 4 through November 6.

Dance for the Cure has emerged as a national movement akin to Race for the Cure of Breast Cancer, which continues to be instrumental in transforming women’s health. While the prostate cancer epidemic strikes as many as 1 in 6 American men and is even more common than breast cancer (1 in 8 women), men do not have accurate tools for early detection similar to mammograms which are critical for cure and saving lives. AdMeTech Foundation and its partners launched Dance for the Cure in support of the AdMeTech’s mission to create a Manogram, a life-saving imaging for men.

Participating in the National Launch of Dance for the Cure of Prostate Cancer are:

ABC TV Hit Dancing with the Stars’ (DWTS) choreographer and former cast member Nick Kosovich who coached Donny Osmond to victory in Season 9; and a cast member Corky Ballas who appeared in the current season with Ms. Florence Henderson of the Brady Bunch fame. Len Goodman, a Judge for DWTS, made a public announcement last year that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Arthur Murray International’s President, John Kimmins; Vice President, Tom Murdock; and Area Chair for New England, Mark Lightner (www.arthurmurray.com).

Hollywood Dancesport Championships’ organizers Mary Murphy, who is also a judge and choreographer on the Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, and Michael Chapman, a world champion of the exhibition ballroom dancing. They will join Messrs. Kosovich and Ballas in announcing a winner of the Dancing with the Stars’ tickets on November 6, between 8 and 11 pm at the Warner Center Marriott in Los Angeles (http://www.hollywooddancesport.com).

Wrapping this up and in case some of you missed this on The Ellen Show today, Brandy and Maks….

Ok, that is all for now. Once again, a special thanks to our Queen Heidi for helping with this post as well.xxx
