Oh, this is fun. MyLITV did a cool spread of “Ballroom With A Twist” when it did it’s run in Patchogue. Dancing With The Stars pros Anna, Peta, Val, and Tristan were are all interviewed. You can see them all dancing too in high quality. Check it out!
What a summer it’s been for the run of “Ballroom With A Twist” and “Forever Tango”. It seems these two shows have never been more popular as fans every where went to see their favorite pros from Dancing With The Stars take to the stage. Broadway World has a little ending promo article posted today for Forever Tango raving about Karina and Maks.
Originally scheduled to appear for three weeks only, the couple previously announced a two-week extension after their triumphant opening night. Entertainment Weekly raved about their performance in Forever Tango, saying, “Dancing with the Stars (and formerly engaged) pair Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff perform to rapturous cheers from the crowd. The couple is, in a word, dazzling. Smirnoff glides beautifully, and Chmerkovskiy shakes his hips (and his booty) with such skill, it’s clear he was born with the talent.”
Here are a couple of videos from the show that you might not have seen before as well….
As for Ballroom with a Twist, don’t miss visiting their Official Facebook when you get a moment. Peta also tweeted out this instagram of her herself doing the splits on stage with background lights. It’s captioned, “My love… My Art… My life… The stage will always be where I feel most powerful.” Beautiful and it about sums it all up for how our busy pros must feel right now after the dancing summer they’ve had!!

The Long Island Exchange has a new article up on “Ballroom With A Twist” that’s currently taking place at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts in Long Island, New York. The nearly sold-out show is said to be taking “audiences by storm”. Yesterday, Maks Chmerkovskiy made a showing and even took some pictures with his brother Val and the cast backstage. To view them and get information for how you can see the show, visit the Long Island Exchange. Peta Murgatroyd, Anna Trebunskaya, and Tristan MacManus can be seen in one of the pics too!!
Just a heads up! Peta Murgatroyd and Val Chmerkovskiy have joined the cast of “Ballroom With A Twist” for a week at the the Patchogue Theatre in Long Island. Newsday has a great article about it which includes a little interview with Peta and Val. Here is a take where they talk of their chemistry and more. Note too how Val says he plans to do some Hip Hop.
“We have a broader dance repertoire than we have on the TV show,” says Murgatroyd, who won the mirrored-ball trophy with partner and now-retired NFL star Donald Driver on season 14 of “DWTS.”
“We have some group numbers with just the boys and then just the girls as we dance to songs by ‘Idol’ finalists,” Murgatroyd says in a phone interview from her Los Angeles home. Of her paired dancing in “Ballroom,” she adds, “I love dancing with Val. He’s a great friend and the most talented guy in the show. He inspires me.”
Chmerkovskiy returns the compliment.
“We have great chemistry on the dance floor,” he says. “It’s a very different experience than the TV show. We don’t have the responsibility of training people who may be great athletes or celebrities but aren’t dancers.”
SHOWING HIS VERSATILITY
Chmerkovskiy says he’s looking forward to displaying some of his hip-hop moves, too. His skills are not limited to ballroom dance. He’s also an aspiring rapper and a classically trained violinist. In his most recent of four “Dancing With the Stars” stints — season 16 — he danced with Disney Channel star and recording artist Zendaya Coleman.
Now living in New Jersey, the two-time International DanceSport Federation world champion also co-owns Dance With Me studios, which has a branch in Glen Head. Next up for Chmerkovskiy: Launching Dance With Me Jr., teaching dance to kids.

Hey All! Don’t miss heading over to Pure Derek Hough when you get a moment. Last night, Dancing With The Stars pro Derek Hough attended the Cosmopolitan Summer Bash at the Palihouse in West Hollywood, California. Derek wore the cutest pair of jeans and a light gray knit sweater layered over a white T. Such a Doll as always.
Also, Pure Derek Hough has several new fan reviews and pictures covering Derek’s dancing in “Ballroom With A Twist” from this past week. Peta Murgratroyd, Tristan MacManus, and Anna Trebunskaya all received raving reviews as well. So, be sure to take them in as well.
PureDWTS reader DW also attended one of the “Ballroom With A Twist” shows. Below is what DW reports to us…..
I attended the North Shore Music Theater performance and wanted to add a few personal impressions: I thought Tristan was hilarious as an emcee and that he, Anna & Peta are even more gorgeous in person than on TV if that is even possible. T&A’s dancing was exquisite and magical and a major treat in and of itself. They were fabulous together, and Tristan, Peta, Derek and Anna, when they danced a quartet number, were vastly superior to the troupe dancers, (which, by the way, unless I am mistaken, included Oksana from the DWTS troupe and her hair and her dancing were a hot mess. But, it might’ve been because she was in pain: she had an ace bandage on her ankle). When Tristan introduced Peta, the audience clapped enthusiastically, but when he introduced “a wee blonde guy you may know” the audience erupted and went crazy!!! Many have said it before, but Derek is even more stunning in person than on TV. I think, besides his undeniable physical beauty, it is his mind-blowing charisma, intensity, energy and light that he projects to the audience; I was just mesmerized and glued to his every move. Coupled with his unmatchable perfect dancing and his genuine humanity, warmth and kindness toward his fans (especially the little Down’s Syndrome girl, who, when he was hugging her gave a “thumbs up” behind his back to the crowd!), and you have someone really, uniquely, one-of-a-kind special. His voice was a little scratchy and I was worried he would have to cancel, but he was a warrior and persevered. I’ve been a fan since he started on DWTS, but to experience him as a humorist and dancer in person was amazing and it had the effect of making me very happy. Hard to explain why, really, but true. I suspect he has that effect on a lot of people. I have to give thumbs up also to the singers from AI and the dancers from SYTYCD who were just fabulous. The only disappointment was that Derek, Tristan, Peta, and Anna didn’t dance nearly long enough and that the troupe was the core of the show, with the AI, DWTS and SYTYCD stars as the icing on the cake. The troupe was OK, but over-danced, over-performed and could not even touch the excellence of D/T/P/A, and I felt I had seen way too much of them. I’m so thrilled that I got to see this show and the memories will last me a long time! Thank you Derek and all for a wonderful evening!
Thanks DW! What a fun and busy week it’s been for our Pros!!

Hey Guys! Don’t miss heading over to Pure Derek Hough as soon as you can!! Our Miss Heidi has collected some video coverage and a beautiful photo last night of Peta Murgatroyd and Derek Hough getting ready to dance for Ballroom With A Twist. According to one of the readers who attended the event, the show last night was “outstanding!” Derek and Peta danced a tango and a jive (she thinks).
Anna Trebunskaya and Tristan MacManus were also there and hosted the event. She described Tristan as being “hilarious”. She said, “His legendary accent made it hard to understand him at times, but Derek noted that this was the clearest he’d ever heard Tristan speak!” LOL! Be sure you see and read more here and in the comments section. Tristan MacManus Fans Facebook also some new pictures of Tristan and Anna. Too fun!!!

Tickets are $100 and space is limited. To register or for more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you visit Cape Cod Online, you can read a mixed review on the current run of Ballroom With A Twist. I kind of wonder of this person is a dancing fan for the way it reads. However, there are some positive mentions too and a cool new pic of Dancing With The Stars Tristan MacManus And Anna Trebunskaya. Below is a take from the link of the review….
Technically, the dancers — including members and alumni of the shows “Dancing With the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance” — are fantastic, with spot-on footwork and lithe bodies that challenge your idea of just how far one can push the skeletal system.
And their adagio work is something to behold — graceful but just a tad dangerous-looking, with those swooping drops that make your heart do the same.
Especially powerful, performing a nontraditional but gorgeous combination of break dancing, ballet and who-knows-what, are “So You Think You Can Dance” alums Randi Lynn Strong, Jonathan Platero and Legacy (yes, that’s how he’s billed).
But missing between many couples is chemistry, a thing deeply ingrained in professional ballroom dancing but which has, with the partner-switching of today’s reality dancing TV shows, been replaced with showmanship.
For Tristan MacManus of “Dancing With the Stars,” that’s a successful transition — he’s witty and charming during his “Donny and Marie”-style segments with fellow DWTS professional Anna Trebunskaya. “American Idol” alums Gina Glocksen and Von Smith also do a good job with their between-dance performances, giving a bit of flow to the show.
Though she’s clearly the belle of the ball(room), Trebunskaya struggles with her host duties, appearing a bit wooden.
For more, go to Cape Cod Online.
EXTRA: If you go to this link at facebook, you can see Tristan dancing with Peta Murgatroyd at Park Lane’s Chicago Convention last Saturday. Tristan, as always, dances like a Prince. Peta looks beautiful too.
UPDATE: You can view more new photos of Anna and Tristan at Ballroom With A Twist Official Facebook. So passionate All!. Be sure you see them.
Our pros seem to be everywhere right now!!! For starters, if you go to this Getty link, you’ll see new photos of Maks Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff with Val Chmerkovskiy and Zendaya at their Forever Tango show over the weekend.
Kym Johnson and Sharna Burgess have been helping to put on “Dance With The Pros” in Niagara Falls. Sharna has been performing while Kym judged. You can view loads of Instagram photos at former Dancing With The Stars Edyta Sliwinska’s twitter account. Sharna has been tweeting out some pics as well occasionally.
Then we have Tristan MacManus and Anna Trebunskaya performing in Ballroom With A Twist. I just love this picture of the two of them dancing in this advertisement. You can also see more pictures and read a fun new interview with Tristan at MacManiacs.Org. Below is just a little teaser from the interview for what he answered about Dancing With The Stars. Be sure to read the link for way more.
Season 17 is coming up soon and while nothing is finalized yet, one of our site members was curious about your thoughts on the various theme weeks. If you could choose one Theme Week for Season 17 (one already used in a previous season or a different one), which would you choose?
I’m not really a fan of the themed weeks too much to be honest, but they seem to work so I guess we will just wait and see. I don’t mind them in moderation, I think, but not every week. I did enjoy the Halloween Week and Rock Week though. I like to theme each dance, and I prefer to see everything different than all the same because it’s too hard to compare anyway as it is, so it may as well be individual styles and just judge it on individual performances if that makes sense.
If you were a judge on Dancing With the Stars, what things would you look for in order to award a perfect 10?
For me, it’s just pure entertainment – I for sure want to see people try hard, but I would prefer to see them being able to enjoy it. In my opinion, you can only take the memories away from it so they may as well be good ones and not stressing over getting your feet tangled up. That’s really what people want to see – improvement each week and the realization and enjoyment out of improving every week. No matter what people say, their personal opinions of certain people will always cloud their judgment so when I’m watching, I take that out of it and ‘judge’ whether I enjoyed it or not. I always know when people smile because they are supposed to and do certain things and say certain things because they have to, but all I want to see is individuality and be entertained.
Peta Murgatroyd was seen shopping in Los Angeles, California yesterday(Monday) in some cute shorts and her hair pulled up. I wonder if she’s getting ready for another Red Carpet premiere? I hope so! Note: Peta will be joining the Ballroom With A Twist cast in August along with Val Chmerkovskiy. Adding: Derek Hough will also be joining the cast.
Also, Gleb Savchenko has been sharing some beautiful videos of Australia at his twitter account. They are beautiful and a must see!
And that is all for now except to send you a really fun heads up on Derek Hough. If you head on over to Pure Derek Hough, you can read about his upcoming “Symphonic Singing Debut”! This is going to be interesting to say the least for how this event will go down. One of the readers at Pure Derek Hough called Derek “The Modern Day Song and Dance Man”. Isn’t that the truth! Go Derek!
Ok, more later Dancettes!!
I’m kicking myself for not seeing “Ballroom With A Twist” this summer in Denver. It sounds like the run has been a success this summer. Anna Trebunskaya and Tristan MacManus were recently talked of why it’s a good show to see. In doing so, they also talking of dancing in it and how it compares to dancing on Dancing With The Stars, etc. I love what Tristan says for what draws us to dancing shows and he ‘hit it on the nail’ in my opinion. Here is a take from Cape Cod Online.
“It’s a good mix of some of the best entertainment on TV,” Trebunskaya, a native of Russia, says of the show.
Trebunskaya has been partnered with celebrities in 10 seasons of “DWTS.” She’s shuffled with stars such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Drew Lachey and Jerry Rice. Twice she’s earned the runner-up crown, in Season 2 with football great Rice and again in Season 10 with figure skater Evan Lysacek.
Trebunskaya says she’s constantly surprised by and learning from the talent brought to the table by her counterparts representing other network shows.
One of Trebunskaya’s favorite things about being in the show is how she can see the audience’s faces as they leave, she says.
“Their faces have so much happiness written all over them,” she says. “It feels really good. It’s a feel-good show.”
MacManus also says he thrives off the immediate reaction he’s able to get from a live theater audience rather than one watching through the veil of a digital screen. For him, it’s instant satisfaction.
While aficionados of these dancing programs may be glued to the couch while watching at home, Trebunskaya says that won’t be the case for those attending “Ballroom With a Twist.”
Trebunskaya says the show will include audience participation: “You won’t be in your seat the whole time.”
MacManus offered a simple explanation for why large audiences, whether dance fans or not, are so drawn to shows like “DWTS” and “So You Think You Can Dance”:
It’s the music. Music is something everyone has in common, he says.
He describes dancing — even simply moving one’s body — as interpreting and reacting to music.
“That’s why people just love interpretations and they love stories. They love reactions — like seeing someone laugh, then someone makes you laugh. … It’s the same way with dancing.”
The Metro West Daily News also interviewed Anna. Here is a take for what she says about her past partners on Dancing With The Stars.
“The thing is that I have no say in my partners – they can be actors and singers, like Steve Guttenberg and Jack Wagner, or pro athletes like Sugar Ray Leonard and Kurt Warner. I prefer to be paired with the athletes, but I have had amazing times with some of the others, too. I learned so much about concentration and being in the zone from Jerry. He taught me so much that I will always carry with me,” says the 32-year-old. “It was also wonderful to be partnered with Evan. His talent as a figure skater made him a natural on the dance floor. If I had to pick my favorite partner, so far anyway, it would have to be Carson. I had the most fun with him. We never stopped laughing.”
Also, be sure you check out Ballroom With A Twist’s Official Facebook for some pictures of them and the cast.
