Just in time before tonight, Access Hollywood has some new rehearsal interviews posted with all the finalists. They each give insight to their freestyles, what the pressure has been like getting ready, and more! Also, don’t miss seeing the Daily Mail at this link and this link for new pictures of the cast arriving for rehearsals. It’s so good to see Valerie Harper again and check out how Bill Engvall is taking time out to smoke a cigar. Hilarious!! Here’s to tonight, Everyone!! 😉
Well, a little birdie tells us that the producers put out a call to the crew for more paparazzi impersonators. Seems they are reworking the season opener, only it’s going to be bigger. 🙂 That’s what Court hears, anyway. 🙂
It will be interesting seeing who goes last. They had their big ringer go last last season and we know how that worked out. Interesting. 🙂 Any bets? I’m going with Amber opening and Corbin closing…or vice versa. I may change my mind in 10 minutes. I can’t seem to stick to one opinion this season. 🙂

Well. As I said last week, if you score normally, and don’t make the margin between the upper tier of dancers super tiny, then you stop having “shocking” eliminations. It only took them ten weeks to figure it out. Or maybe Leah had just served her purpose of getting more famous people in the audience. Either way, she was eliminated and it didn’t take much for that to happen. Here are the judges scores for both dances – those in grey are my predictions…well, my second set of predictions. 🙂 I wasn’t sure which way they were going to go with. Glad they selected option number 2. 🙂
These scores led to the following vote requirements.
Note that in week 9, the margin between Leah and Liz was less than 7k votes. This week, when they aren’t over inflating everyone’s score trying to get rid of Bill, Leah needed well more than 17k votes per million votes cast to get to Jack, Amber or Corbin. Here’s what caused her to be eliminated – all of the following happened: Read more..
Wow, since my time of reporting at PureDWTS, I don’t remember the odds makers putting out such tight odds for the finals of Dancing With The Stars? Also, check out how they’ve placed Bill Engvall in 3rd with 5/1 odds!! Amazing. I’m literally in shock. Not that I don’t think Bill might not get 3rd (especially after seeing how he danced during his Argentine tango), but, hasn’t Jack Osbourne proven he’s a better dancer than Bill? If I were betting, I’d put all my chips with Amber Riley and Corbin Bleu. I also still think the dark horse is Jack. Then again, maybe it’s Bill? I’m starting to get confused. 😯 Anyway, good luck to them all. I really love every single one of them and wish them the best! Below is more from Sports Bovada.
Corbin Bleu 1/1
Amber Riley 5/4
Bill Engvall 5/1
Jack Osbourne 10/1
Below are last week’s odds:
Corbin Bleu 2/3
Amber Riley 8/5
Leah Remini 9/1
Jack Osbourne 12/1
Bill Engvall 25/1
Court and Heidi, what do you think?
Courtney: First off, I’m just glad that at this point, any of the couples left could walk away with the trophy and I could honestly say I’d be fine with it – and I don’t think I’ve EVER felt that way about a finale before. There always seems to be at least one finalist per season that I really don’t want to win – but I like all the couples left. So right of the bat – I’m just happy to have a bit of that weight off my shoulders 🙂 As for who’s actually going to win – I’m feeling a bit less resolute in my belief that Corbin & Amber will be the final two standing, and I think Jack could potentially play spoiler and end up either in second place or winning the whole thing. Why? Because Jack seems to be the “alternative” choice – those who are from the “no ringers!!!” camp won’t vote for Corbin & Amber, and those from the “this is a dance show, a good dancer should win!” camp won’t vote for Bill; but as Carrie Ann mentioned in her blog, the only thing that viewers seem to universally agree on is that Jack deserves to be there. He very well may be the dark horse to win this thing – especially since I’m starting to notice more backlash against Amber & Corbin (Corbin in particular) these past few days. As much as I love Bill, I think the judges are going to do everything in their power to ensure that he doesn’t get any better than 4th place – but then again, I think they’ve been trying to boot him out for several weeks now, and it hasn’t worked. I think he may be able to eek out 3rd – especially if there’s a bit of a shock and Corbin is the first to get booted out of the finale. I’m really beginning to wonder if Corbin’s not been getting a ton of votes – I think he’s a better dancer than Amber, but I also think she’s more current and likeable; I think they could potentially be splitting some votes, too, since it seems to me like those who watched High School Musical 6 years ago are probably the type to tune into Glee now. For that reason, I’m leaning towards Amber taking the MBT – 5th MBT for Derek backlash notwithstanding, I think she’s got the votes to carry her through.
Heidi: Ah hell, I don’t know. 🙂 I waffle in my weaker moments to thinking Amber or Corbin will be the one shut out on Monday night, to thinking that Amber will win, to thinking Jack will win – mostly I still think it’s Corbin’s to lose…and lose he could if Derek’s “I’ve never done this before” freestyle is as awesome as Amber seems to think it is. Karina is amazing…but Derek is in his own league any more. Derek also is VERY Zen these days and Karina still tends to get very anxious at this time of the season when she has a contender. Cheryl seems to be her old self and should NOT be underestimated. She can certainly craft something tailor made for Jack’s strengths. Bill is charming but has a groin pull – bad news for the finale. But I don’t think he stands a serious chance at winning anyway. If you go by the ratings – in addition to what happened last season – there seems to be a lot more viewers and a lot more voters for the finale. I think that’s why Kellie beat Zendaya. Going on that theory, Bill’s fans who have been with him all season may lose some power – or be overwhelmed by new voters. Johnny come latelys. 🙂 And Corbin or Amber – whoever kills their freestyle – could gain some power. At the end of the day, I think finale voters are going to look at Derek and not give him another MBT. Advantage Corbin. 🙂
PureDWTS Season 17 Rant: Really, Really Dumb Ideas About the Show (Courtesy of Facebook & Instagram)
After Elizabeth & Val’s elimination last Monday night, against my better judgement, I decided to see what fans on the DWTS Instagram page were saying about the results. Of course I instantly regretted this decision, because I saw more than a few hystrionic, irrational, and downright idiotic complaints about everything from the scoring to the voting to the overall format of the show. I also witnessed a horrifying lack of command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall coherence when conversing in the English language 😯 And here’s what really grinds my gears: nothing has changed, guys. The show’s scoring has been calculated the same way for 17 seasons now (50% judges’ scores, 50% viewer votes), we’ve had the same 3 judges for every season, and this is FAR from being the only voting shakeup we’ve seen in 17 seasons. So why is everyone suddenly up in arms about it now?
We may never know for sure, but I can say this: some of the Instagram & Facebook DWTS fans have got some really, REALLY dumb ideas about the show – ideas that I’m proud to say that our Pure readers would recognize as pure poppycock in a heartbeat 😉 So of course, I just had to find a way to show you guys some of these gems – both for humor purposes and educational purposes. All of these are actual comments, either on the DWTS Facebook page or the Instagram page, and all were posted publicly – so I’m within my rights to republish them here; but because some of these ideas are some real turds, I’ve taken pity on the commentor & blurred out any identifying details, except for the first name – cause it’s a helluva lot easier to refer to them by some name than by “idiot #1, idiot #2, idiot #3, etc”. 😉
Really Stupid Idea #1: The judges’ scores should have more weight.
No offense, mimi, but where have you been the past 16 seasons???
I shouldn’t even have to elaborate on why this is a downright TERRIBLE idea, but I’m going to anyway because clearly some of the simple-minded folk that are backing this turd of notion don’t seem to understand that this is likely not going to have the effect they think it will. I’m guessing they assume that judges’ scores being weighted more heavily = good dancers stay, bad dancers go. But apparently they don’t realize that the judges aren’t exactly infallible & objective – far from it, as we’ve witnessed over 17 seasons. The judges are capable of some pretty blatant favoritism towards some contestants (William Levy, anyone?) and have undeservingly HOSED other contestants (Ralph Macchio fans, this is where you nod in agreement). They also have a tendency to “pity score” some contestants to soften the blow (*cough*BRISTOLPALIN*cough*), with the unexpected effect of said contestants outstaying their welcome. And then there’s their personal biases: Carrie Ann & Bruno are both easily swayed by attractive young men (regardless of how well they can actually dance), while Carrie Ann seems to turn into a green-eyed monster when it comes to scoring attractive young women, and tends to take some cheap shots when critiquing them. Len has a tendency to scold Derek at least once a season, and hand out an absurdly low score as a result. And of course, Carrie Ann’s dubious lift-policing seems to have an effect as well…just ask Corbin & Karina, who earlier this season were penalized for a lift that didn’t even exist. We’ve also talked about the “man behind the curtain” possibly exerting some influence over the judging as well – seemed awfully convenient that William Levy was getting worshipped by the judges week after week (whether or not he was actually worthy of the worship), when he was set to launch a huge deal for Univision (which is part of the ABC family…hmmmm). People REALLY want to give these clowns even MORE power? I feel like just last year, people were complaining about how the judges were terrible and needed to be replaced!!! Another point to consider: the viewers need to feel invested in this show – they need to feel like they have a say in who stays and who goes. And the minute you start making them feel like their vote doesn’t count or counts less is the minute you start losing viewers. Even those that don’t always vote seem to take comfort in the fact that the viewers do have the power to overturn a bad score from the judges. Read more..
Is this not a sweet interview? I don’t remember seeing this out there until now. Anyway, it makes me cry (the good kind). They are just so cute. And was this not their best dance or what? I was totally “wowed”.
Hey All! Be sure you see Kerli’s new blog at her official site when you get a moment. Below is a take about what she wrote about the show and her experience. There is also a really cool gallery at the link with some “behind the scene” takes of she and the cast. Too cool. I love her! Thanks to Elmari for sending us this news!
….There are hundreds of people working on the set and everyone is not only the best at what they do but a truly sweet human being. Love this team so much, especially the make up trailer ran by a flock of epic ladies.
The dances, of course were amazing…it’s so cool to see people get on the show willing to win or make a fool out of themselves in front of 16 million people. It’s all about pushing your own limits after all…I also love that the celebrities are so diverse…how rad is it to watch Chaz Bono stand tall in the spotlight, inspiring every LGBT kid out there to not be ashamed of who they are. Kudos!!
Access Hollywood has posted a new interview they did with Maks Chmerkovskiy this week (I think this took place last Monday before he judged the show?). He talks of how he’s not coming back as a dancer on Dancing With The Stars and why. He also talks of judging and who will win Dancing With The Stars Season 17 and lots more.
And below is an On The Red Carpet interview as well…
ABC has issued details for the finale of Dancing With The Stars Season 17. As well as the freestyles, I can’t wait for the Samba Relay. The two nights are going to be jam packed. Below is more.
“Episode 1711 & 1711A” — After 10 weeks of entertaining, stylized dancing from Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff, Jack Osbourne & Cheryl Burke, Bill Engvall & Emma Slater and Amber Riley & Derek Hough, only one couple will be crowned “Dancing with the Stars” Champions. These four remaining couples will have one last opportunity to impress the judges and the viewers on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), concluding with the Season Finale, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
On MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), “Dancing with the Stars” season 16 Champion Kellie Pickler returns to open up the show with her country hit “Little Bit Gypsy,” accompanied by the pro dancers. The four remaining couples will then compete in three rounds of dance. In the first round, each couple will take on the “Judges Pick” and repeat a selected routine from earlier in the season. In round two, the couples will be challenged to a Samba relay, where each pair dances to a different section of the same song. The Samba relay will be accompanied by 90’s hip hop group TLC who will perform their classic hit “No Scrubs.” In the last round, and one of the biggest competitive dances of the season, the couples take on a supersized freestyle featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises. At the end of night, one couple will be eliminated based on the previous weeks’ viewer votes, combined with the judges’ scores from Monday night.
In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) and in the the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24 Hour Fusion Challenge.” During Monday night’s show, the remaining couples will choose songs for their competitors that fuse two contrasting dance styles and they’ll all have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points the following night. The finale will feature performances by Lady Antebellum who will perform their new single “Compass,” and Enrique Iglesias will sing his current hit “Heart Attack.” The entire celebrity cast returns including: Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Brant Daugherty, Keyshawn Johnson, Christina Milian, Bill Nye, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Leah Remini and Valerie Harper who will dance with partner Tristan MacManus to a version of “What a Wonderful World” by singer Colbie Caillat. In addition, Ylvis will perform their hit single “The Fox,” accompanied by select celebrity and pro dancers. At the end of the night, the public vote from Monday night will be combined with the judges’ scores from both nights to crown the Season 17 Champion.
Be sure to read more at ABC. Thanks to @DWTSgossip for the heads up!
What interesting Astrology personalities and unions we have this season for the Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Finals!! Making this season unique from others, would you believe it if we told you we have two Taureans and two Capricorns in the finals? And to make things even more interesting a Scorpio, an Aquarian, a Pisces, and a Leo are thrown into the mix. Read further to see how the couples Astrological sings might and might not stack up and if you think this might help or hinder them for the finals? DonaMadrina has also included a new Numerology Forecast for us to consider being she was interesting in diving into their “Monthly” and “Yearly” numbers a bit more being their weekly numbers are so close and tight. Note how (once again), she nailed it with her Numerology forecast last week. Tony Dovolani was the only person to have a “red challenging” mark and…well, we all know how that turned out. Also included below is a Horoscope Forecast for each sign from Astrologer Patrick Arundell who is quite a fascinating and fun fellow. If interested, be sure to subscribe to his You Tube site for he forecasts each sign every week. One more thing before you read further, be sure to see Pure Derek Hough for more with Amber and Derek as DonaMadrina has personally studied and forecasted what is in Derek’s Astrological forecast and it is fascinating to say the least.
Ok, ready? Here we go:
Corbin and Karina:
Corbin Bleu – Born February 21st, A Pisces born on the Aquarius/Pisces Cusp
Positive traits: energetic, success oriented, a need to prove themselves, concerned, caring
Negative traits: insecure, pessimistic, isolated
Other famous Aquarians born in the same weekly time period: Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, John McEnroe, John Travolta
Karina – Born January 2nd, Capricorn
Positive traits: hard working, ambitious, determined, extremely dedicated, capable
Negative traits: dogmatic, bottled up, tyrannical
Other famous Capricorns born in the same weekly period; Oprah Winfrey, Mary Tyler Moore, Donna Summer
Union Together: These two may be opposites being Capricorn is normally reserved and ‘all business’ versus Aquarius’ sense of adventure and playful side. However note how Corbin was born on the cusp of Pisces as well which means he may have an intuitive and imaginative side. The fish can swim high or low….and their moods can do the same. In turn and with all the above combinations, they may have a way of soaking each other up like a sponge when it comes to educating and learning from one another and I definitely think this is what we’ve been seeing in them both along their journey. Do you agree?
Amber and Derek:
Amber – Born February 15th, Aquarius
Positive traits: friendly, inventive, progressive, lively, affectionate
Negative traits: irritated, vulnerable
Other famous Aquarians born in the same weekly period: Jane Seymour, Roberta Flack, Carole King
Derek – Born May 17th, Taurus
Positive traits: caring, persevering, passionate, endures, full of grace, fun loving, imaginative, adventuresome
Negative traits: rebellious, frustrated
Other famous Taureans born in the same weekly period: Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper
Union Together: These two signs together may have some conflicts …especially in the beginning. Taurus likes to control while Aquarian wants to be independent and find their own way. However, one thing they do share is a common passion for all things in life….and a grace, warmth, and caring for others (animals and people alike) as well as being lively and adventuresome. They also share a rebellious trait when challenged and times get tough as they both just want to fight that much harder. If these two can find a mutual balance and respect what makes the other tick in the conflicting times, tremendous things are possible. In other words, when they have found that happy spot, watch out. They are unstoppable, enthusiastic, and creative. Is this what we’re seeing in these two? I think so.
More with these two at Pure Derek Hough.
Jack and Cheryl:
Jack – Born November 8th, Scorpio
Positive Traits: passionate, brave, intense, serious, steadfast, a worthy adversary
Negative Traits: Worries, depressed easily, escapist
Other famous Scorpios born in the same weekly period: Sally Field, Tatum O’Neal, Will Rogers
Cheryl – Born May 3rd, Taurus
Positve Characteristics: enterprising, fair, magnetic, teacher
Negative Characteristics: demanding, critical, inflexible
Other famous Taureans born in the same weekly period: Sigmund Frued, Eva Peron, Audrey Hepburn
