DWTS Season 16 – Rumor Round-Up!!!

Ok kids, we’re at about t minus 66 21 13 hours until the cast announcement, and it’s time once again to break down the various rumors we’ve heard about the cast so far – which, unfortunately, haven’t been too plentiful this season.  But hey, at least it has given our imaginations the chance to run wild and we may be in for some big, hopefully pleasant surprises on Tuesday morning :-)

I went ahead and broke the rumored names into categories: the ones that we think are legitimate possibilities (names we keep hearing, from reputable sources), the ones that are a longshot (they’ve been a rumor, but they’re more likely to say “no” than the legitimate possibilities), the ones that have said they want to do the show or have campaigned to get on the show (but probably haven’t been/won’t be asked), the random one-offs that are usually referred to by a 3rd party (and not a reputable source or the person themselves), and the “endless parade of no” – the celebs who were reportedly asked to do the show, but turned it down.

ETA: Added a new rumor, and threw in some updates on others.  Things are starting to take shape! :-)

ETA2: The rumors came flooding in today…and some of them seem pretty legit.

Andy Dick
D.L. Hughley

DWTS16 Cast More Wannabes And Randomness – Billy Idol, Fiona Hughes, and Tiffany?

We’ve been noticing some more celebrities voicing how they’d like to dance on Dancing With The Stars. Since you never know if TPTB might take them seriously (now or in the future), we thought we might post about them….

First up, OK Magazine (where some of our Pros have blogged from in the past and where they’ve also posted some insider things at times) is reporting that Tiffany wants to take on Dancing With The Stars. Below is take from the link.

“I’m very competitive,” the married mom, 41, tells me this week while hosting an 80s bash at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. “I’m very lazy unless there’s somebody next to me. I’m that way with the gym. Because I’m a multi-tasker, I’m thinking about laundry and all the other things I could be accomplishing while on that treadmill, but as soon as a girl with the right body comes up next to me, I’m like ‘that’s right, we’re staying on this — we’re going. I’ll drop before I get off this thing!’”

She adds, “I’m very competitive in that sense, and I was actually a dancer for many years before I even got a record deal. It would be great to do Dancing With The Stars because that would revive those chops a little bit.”

Hmmm, not sure I’m game for her or not?

Then a few days ago, Access Hollywood interviewed General Hospital’s Finola Hughes. She said she’d like to dance on Dancing With The Stars . Did any of you see the movie “Staying Alive” with Finola and John Travolta? She was wicked good in that movie….and in dancing ability too. SEE THIS LINK! I’d love to see her dance.

With “General Hospital” so close to celebrating its anniversary in April, and “Dancing with the Stars” returning in March on the same network, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a “GH” star on the reality competition and Access has an idea for the upcoming cast – Finola!

“I would love to do ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” she said when Access posed the question. “It would be so much fun.”

Finola has ballet in her background, previously appearing on the London stage, and later, dancing with John Travolta in “Stayin’ Alive.” (Remember THIS?)

The actress also is well-versed in all things “DWTS.”

“I, of course, watched this last season like crazy because Kelly [Monaco, who plays Sam McCall on “GH”] was on,” Finola said. “It just looks like a blast. Yeah, it would be great.”

Also, here is something fun Lisa Rinna posted on Billy Idol. Could Lisa be “in the know” about something being it was so “random” that she felt the need to tweet this? He would be a good get for sure! Thanks to Courtney for this find….

I’d like to see Billy Idol do #DWTSI know. So random my coming out with that at this moment.

Courtney: Mmmmmm…Billy Idol.  Let’s put it this way: even though he’s probably old enough to be my father, I still have some very un-PG-13 thoughts about He of the Sneering Lip, and he could become the object of my lust in season 16…possibly moreso than Apolo’s tree trunk thighs in season 15.  :-P Doubt they got him, but damn – it would be one helluva season if they did! As for Tiffany – she’d be fun to watch, but I’m thinking they may have already filled their redheaded musician quota for the season w/Wynonna.  And if they got Finola Hughes, she could be the ringiest ringer in DWTS history, and I’d have her pegged for the MBT from the get-go – that woman has got some serious dance chops.  As in “classically trained ballerina”.  She played Victoria (a very demanding dance role) in the original Broadway run of Cats.  Lord knows how much of her original skill set she has retained, but man – even if it’s just a little bit, she’d be a force to be reckoned with.

Heidi: Word to Courtney on Billy and Finola. :-) He was SO hot back in the day – I have a clear recollection of screaming “White Wedding” at the top of my lungs with one of my girlfriends. :-)  But can he dance or just curl his lip?? I’m thinking the latter. Finola – massive ringer but what the hell? Could happen. I’m thinking Tiffany would be good someday – don’t know if that day is coming soon.  Would love to see Billy and Finola either this season or a future season. I’m ambivalent on Tiffany. :-)

I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. One of my favorite dancing quotes at the moment: "No matter what, nobody can take away the dance you've already had...." ~Gleb Savchenko . DWTS13, Week 5 – Courtney & Heidi Sing the 80s

Now that we’ve got your attention ;-), sorry to burst your bubble – but Heidi & I will not actually be singing the 80s. Sowwwwy :-P But since we fancy ourselves 80s music enthusiasts (Heidi lived through all of them, and I lived through half…and I also got a big refresher during my Greek years in college), we thought we’d sit down and kick around a few ideas about what we can expect to see next week in the way of music, costuming, gimmicks, etc. Cause let’s face it: the 80s were effin’ RAD. 8) For those of you not fortunate enough to experience the decade of excess, please do the following before reading through this 80s primer: go watch Pretty in Pink & The Wedding Singer; run to the beauty supply store and pick up a crimping iron, a teasing comb, and some Aquanet; rent a Delorean for the weekend; and practice your moonwalk. Done that? Cowabunga!!! Read on…

Courtney: Not gonna lie: I am all kinds of pumped for this theme week :-D Seriously, I’m gonna be like a kid on Christmas morning come Monday…I <3 the 80s! Ok, I think it’s safe to say that crimped & teased hair, scrunchies, acid-wash jeans, neon-rimmed sunglasses, parachute pants, and anything Michael Jackson-inspired are going to be par for the course next week.  Man, Mark would have had a costumegasm if he & Kristin had stuck around till next week! Oh, just think of the cheese…now I kinda wish that goober was still around :-(

Heidi: Since when has Mark needed an 80′s theme in order to dress cray cray?? :-)  Seriously though, Hope has Tango to a Bon Jovi song and Len’s been mean to her. I forsee a rocketship to the top of the leaderboard for her.  But which Bon Jovi?? You Give Love A Bad Name??  That sounds like a Tango to me.  Sounds like a sure thing to me.  Didn’t Derek choreograph a team dance to that song?? Or was it a similar one?   Anyway, just spare me from anything by Christopher Cross. Yuck. Read more..
