PureDWTS Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Answers Fan Questions On Noah Galloway And The New Season Of Dancing With The Stars

TeamShway

The lovely, sweet, and talented Miss Sharna Burgess was gracious enough to take time out of her busy schedule and rehearsals to answer a few questions from our readers. Sharna chats with us about her new partner Noah Galloway, the new season of Dancing With The Stars, and lots more. I think this is one of her most informative, touching, and inspirational interviews that we’ve done with her. See why below and here’s to this heart warming team this season and what we are about to learn and witness from them. Enjoy and thanks to all who sent us questions! Instagram photos courtesy of Noah and Sharna. From all of our hearts, THANK YOU SHARNA!!

Hello Miss Sharna. This is Vogue. How are you? I hope you are well. First of all, know we are all so excited and thrilled that you back and are paired with Noah Galloway this season. We can’t wait to see you dance and do your magical thing on the dance floor again.
Hi lovely! I’m super excited about this season too! Noah is already inspiring me every minute of our rehearsals with his determination. He wants this soooo much!

So, how was your off season? Did you find some time to rest and relax after doing Shall We Dance On Ice, Sway and the Dancing With The Stars Cruises?
Lol! I found very little time to relax, straight after the season I left for dwts at sea and a number of other gigs. I didn’t get back home to LA until the first week of Feb. I’m not complaining though, I love being busy and the work I was doing over the last 3 months was incredibly rewarding. Sway was amazing, being a part of it even more so! I also got to go home to Australia and be there for a birth in the family, and meet my brand new god daughter! Moments like these I cherish, I’ve been away 10+ years now and usually miss out on a lot of the important things. So my off season wasn’t relaxing, but it was special in so many ways.

Here are some questions from our Administrator John:
Have you ever worked with other dancers with disabilities? If so, which ones and what was it like?

Hi John! I have actually, about a year ago I was choreographing with Paul Kirkland in London for Sports Relief. We had 4 of their Para-Olympians in the number dancing with 4 of the SCD pros. We had a blind soccer player, two women in wheelchairs and a guy who was amputated from just under the hip. What I learned very quickly is that every amputee is different, what works for one won’t work for the other. And as much as you try and imagine what it would feel like to not have that joint or limb… You can’t. You have to discover WITH them what’s possible, and then feel out how far to push them each time. Truly Sports Relief 2014 was the most wonderful experiences. I tried to thank them right before we shot the number on the SCD set and lost it, I looked at Paul to help me out but he was no better! Wanna talk about being inspired? These 4 individuals showed me more passion, strength and positivity than I had seen in a long time, even from myself. I am so grateful for that experience and those memories.

What do you think of the new live streaming of the rehearsals?
It’s so awesome! I think it will allow you guys to really see more of our authentic chemistry and the way that each of the pros work. I’ve been told it’s fascinating watching Noah and I work together at discovering new ways of doing things. I’m looking at this season as no rules… (Ok some rules πŸ˜‰ ) I’ll do things the opposite way around if I want to.. Because, why not? We’ve so far had a recorded rehearsal and 1 live, I have to say I was a little nerves about the live one. I’m so used to getting in there and just working, I would forget the cameras are there with people watching very easily. But, that’s not the point, At last not initially. I want for you all to get to know him more, we are always talking about his story which is very emotional, but he’s also incredibly funny and sweet!!!! (Just don’t tell him I said that πŸ˜€ ) we kind of tease each other like brother and sister already. I can’t wait to do another live stream that’s for sure.

With all of the various dancing tours and dancing shows in Vegas, why isn’t there a ballroom dance show in Vegas?
Interesting question! There used to be, at least for short runs. Burn the Floor was at the Luxor for 3-4 months in 2006, and of course we had DWTS there too in 2013. You never know what can happen in the future, I hear ideas all the time of people looking to put something up in Vegas and I’ve certainly thought about it! Keep an eye out, there’s something coming soon I can feel it. πŸ™‚

What do you think the role of social media and blogs like Pure DWTS play in the show? Do they impact voting?

Social media and bogs play a huge role in the success of the show! It gives fans a place to have a voice,
share opinions and discuss… Or debate πŸ˜‰ But the point is it continues the passion people feel watching the show long after the episode is over. I love that, I love that people across America get to converse about something they love with other people that feel the same.

It’s only my assumption, but I would say that it impacts voting in one way or another. Some people might come on to a site like Pure to find clarity in their thoughts, or after discussing see it a different way, or catch up on the latest interviews and press and fall in love with a different couple. You guys make that possible, you essentially turn a 2 hr show into something that people can tune into any day at any time. That’s kinda awesome. πŸ™‚
