New “Make Your Move 3D” Trailer Released, Mystery Project, And More Derek Hough News

And the buzz steps up a notch! This week, the producers of “Make Your Move 3D” released what we think is a slightly longer trailer for Derek’s new dance movie “Make Your Move 3D”. You can watch it full below. Yahoo also has an article about the new movie with pictures and a place to comment if you like what you are seeing so far. “Make Your Move 3D will be released to theatres in the US on April 18th!! Note: Duane Adler is the director of “Make Your Move 3D”. In case you didn’t know, he also directed “Save the Last Dance” and the original “Step Up” movies which are so good if you’ve never seen them before. The film also features choreography from Emmy-award winning couple Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo from “America’s Best Dance Crew” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Also note that Derek wrote some music for this movie. If you’d like to read more, visit Make Your Move Fans.

In other things on Derek this week, more news came out about a “Mystery” Project” that he is planning with his sister Julianne Hough. We think it might have something to do with an upcoming new tour called “MOVE” with the two, but, we aren’t sure? Also, a new Ballroom With A Twist promo was released by he and Cheryl Burke. You can catch up on all of these news items and much more including a really touching fan review of the Dancing With The Stars At Sea Cruise at Pure Derek Hough. Too fun!!

Trailer for Derek Hough’s Movie Posted by Dutch Film Distributor

Make Your Move, Starring Derek and Asian pop star BoA has a trailer – and I think it looks pretty good! It was put up by a Dutch distributor so it has subtitles. Now….if we can get an American release date, all would be right with the world. 🙂  I’m not going to Holland this year.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Trailer Almost Finished For DWTS Derek Hough’s New Movie “Cobu”, New Dances Added, and More

DerekBoACOBU

Has promo just began for the release of Derek Hough’s new movie “COBU 3D” ….or uhhh, should we say “COBU”? Yesterday, director Duane Adler answered questions from fans regarding the movie at twitter. Here is what we found out (and I hope I didn’t miss anything):

1. Cobu is an Indie movie
2. The title is still undecided. “3D” has definitely been dropped.
3. In post production, two new dance scenes were added to the movie: one with Derek in New Orleans and another “steamy one” with Derek & BoA! The scenes “enhanced the plot”, but, didn’t change it.
4. The Trailer is nearly finished. Derek has written a song for the movie called “Let Me In” which will show up not only in the movie, but, in the trailer and for marketing.
5. They are hoping for a 2013 release favorably towards the end of the summer when dance movies (such as the “Step Up” movies) have done well. Duane thinks they have a shot of it being a “surprise hit”.

Lots more in detail at Pure Derek Hough at this link where you can get all the latest info on this movie. Heidi has stills, video teasers, and all the recent tweets for what transpired yesterday with director Duane Adler. So, be sure to check it out as this post doesn’t do it justice. Heidi, may have more to add below too. Yay, bring this movie on!!

Heidi: Duane is on Twitter again today and added the following comments:
– He wants to show “behind the scenes” during the marketing;
– They are planning to release this year in USA, Europe AND Asia;
– BoA, who is a huge music star in Asia, will have a new song time to the release of the movie;
– Trailer will be done next week, then it will be mixed for a week.

All I can say is…about time!! We’ve been waiting long enough, but I guess with Indie pics that’s the name of the game.

Derek Hough on Dancing With The Stars: “I’ve definitely been speaking with the producers…”

So, the promotion for Derek Hough’s new movie, “Cobu3D”, is in full swing. ET has a great new interview up with he and BoA, his costar. As of right now, shooting for the film has wrapped up in Canada. Derek talks of how different ‘film making’ is from doing Dancing With The Stars or a tv series. He also talks of the possibility of coming back to Dancing With The Stars next Season. Here is what he had to say about it:

“We’ll see what happens,” Derek disclosed. “I’ve definitely been speaking with the producers. I might be going on there and trying some new things.”

I hope he’s going to be back as the show hasn’t been the same without him. Once again, note how three dancers (First Cheryl, then Lacey, and now Derek) have mentioned doing “new things” for the show. You have to truly wonder what’s up with Season 13?

For more on this interview with Derek (with a video included), be sure to see Pure Derek Hough >>>>HERE ! Heidi has all the recent news, photos, and gossip on Derek. In fact, there is a “must see” video with Derek and BoA fooling around on the set too that you can’t miss. Derek is a true natural at acting as he is dancing. BoA is just lovely as well and their connection is just “sweet” to say the least.

(Heidi’s Note: I think when he says “new things”, he’s thinking of pro dances – I hope. I would kill to see one of their numbers from Cobu on a results show. Either way, it’s sounds like all the dancing training he did really pumped the old creative juices.)

Pure Dancing With The Stars – Derek Hough “Feet of Flames” on Cobu 3D

Things are really starting to heat up and I’m not just talking about the temperatures outside or Mak’s engagement pick on the Ukraine Bachelor. I’m speaking about Derek Hough and the set of Cobu 3D. For the last several weeks the cast and crew of this new edgy, street dance movie have been tweeting pictures from the set including Derek who, as most of you know, has the male lead. Not only that, yesterday, Derek took a little time to talk with E News about the new movie. Derek also gives us a little sneak peek into one of his dancing scenes. Let’s just say, this new movie and Derek has garnished the name “Feet of Flames” by one of his fans for a reason. I’ve never seen anything like it or comparable. Be sure to see this new fun interview and sneak peek into Cobu 3D at Pure Derek Hough >>>>>>HERE. While you are visiting the link, be sure to check out the other updates on Derek at Pure Derek Hough to see the latest set pics and more like the picture above. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the hype that is about to surround this movie. Can I buy my ticket now?

Pure DWTS – Derek Hough Speaks Out On New Movie Role & DWTS Season 13

I will let these excerpts from People do the talkin’!!

“I’m taking season 12 off,” three-time champ Derek Hough tells PEOPLE. The Dancing pro, 25, will be busy playing the lead role in the upcoming dance movie Cobu 3D, which is slated to film in New York and Toronto this spring.

Hough will play a New Orleans street dancer who moves to New York and falls for an Asian drummer (played by Korean pop recording star BoA). The Romeo and Juliet-style love story (their dance groups are rivals) will be accented by “some incredible dance numbers,” says Hough. “People will see a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I’m capable of doing.”

Hough has already started training for the film by working out in the gym and brushing up on his tap dancing skills. He says he’s put on “about 10 lbs. of muscle” for the film, “which is a lot for me.”

A “more edgier” and “musclier” Derek? Sounds good to me. 😀

And Dancing fans can expect Hough to come back to the ballroom better than ever for season 13.

“I will be making it back to Dancing with the Stars in the fall. I’m just taking a little break and taking this chance to grow and expand a little bit as an artist,” Hough says. “It’s like I told one of the producers on the show – I’ll come back with a whole new set of skills.”

That is such a relief to know he will be back for Season 13 and with a ‘whole new set of skills’. I love how Derek is never afraid to learn more.

For all things Derek even more in depth and this new movie project, be sure to check Pure Derek Hough daily. To pacify us a little for now until this project is released and to see who Derek is working with, here is BoA dancing….

Heidi’s Note: For anyone interested, Cobu is a NYC dance troupe who does a fusion of Taiko Drumming and Funk Tap Dance

DWTS – Derek Lands A Movie Role & More Media On Tony, Maks, Cheryl, And Mark!

Let’s get right to it. Our top news story of the Day via Allkpop and Pure Derek Hough: Derek has landed a role in a new dancing movie called “Cobu 3D”. He will be starring with South Korean singer BoA. Here are some details…

BoA will be starring alongside Derek Hough, the champion of America’s hit reality show, ”Dancing with the Stars“. The two stars play the role of dancers who grew up in vastly different environments, and so they knock heads when they first meet at an underground New York club. Although they start off as fierce rivals, they eventually fall into a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ type of love.

Duane Adler (who’s known for his work with “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up“) will be directing the film, and it’s being co-produced by Robert Cort, CJ Entertainment, and SM Entertainment.

“COBU 3D” aims to escape from the standard dance movies that focus on battles instead of delivering a solid storyline. The film will shed light on a beautiful love story, as well as spotlighting a variety of dance styles including tap, hip hop, and swing.

The movie is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and CJ Entertainment will be distributing it in Korea, China, and Japan. Lionsgate International will be the international sales agent, and they’re planning to begin pre-sales at the Berlin International Film Festival this February.

UPDATE (thanks to Lisa G and Heidi):: Sadly this means, Derek Hough won’t be returning for Season 12 on Dancing With The Stars. Conrad Green, executive producer for DWTS, has made this statement to Access Hollyood.

“Dancing” executive producer Conrad Green told Access they expect Derek to return to the ballroom later this year.

“We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall,” Conrad said in a statement to Access.

BoA is pictured below in case some of you may not know who she is. More on her and her career at this link.

This is going to be fun especially for us dance movie freaks! Congradulations Derek! You can see him on the set working in this tweet.

Tony has landed a fun role in a new episode of “Are We There Yet” too. Jason Palmer tweeted a picture of the two which you can see below.

Wow, to our pros this year. They’ve had big off seasons. Same with Maks who as you know is currently filming The Bachelor in the Ukraine. Special thanks to a resident and native of Russia named Marina (via tweeters @ScibblerNY and @FLLottodreamer), we have a full English translation of Maks’ new interview from the Ukraine that we reported to you earlier. You can read it in full >>>HERE. I thought this quote was interesting. I’m dying to know, how this will effect his role on DWTS,…that is if there is one this Season?

Q: As far as I know, the indispensable condition for you is to marry after the project…

MC: No! The main thing, I need to propose: all comes to an end with a betrothal (engagement)… Whether there will be a real wedding depends on me. It happens, people change/disagree. Perhaps when I learn more about this girl, she will change, be another person. Or me. But I wouldn’t want that to happen. My decision is serious. You know, I love clever, intellectual women. It is not interesting to me to only communicate on topics of shoes, socks and glasses. Nice to talk about politics, sports, art… Then the relationship will be comfortable.

Q: Is there a marriage contract to sign?

MC: Yes, I gather. But I wouldn’t want to disclose these legal details.

Not only has Cheryl revealed how much being molested hurt her, she also has revealed how hurt she was when a tabloid published photos of her looking heavier. Here is a take from People. Be sure to pick up the new issue which hits new stands today if you’d like to read more.

Secretly, however, the two-time Dancing champ, 26, was devastated, and tried everything from nearly starving herself (“Couldn’t do it,” she says) to diet pills (“Nasty – I felt anxious and shaky).”

Ultimately, the weight came off gradually, thanks to her rigorous dance schedule and a focus on eating plenty of vegetables, avoiding preservatives, and allowing for occasional splurges.

“I love carbs and I love chips,” she says. “I’m not going to deprive myself – but instead of eating potato chips I’ll eat Triscuits or low-fat Cheez-Its.”

Lastly, we have a couple of interviews to share with Mark promoting his new album “HurtLoveBox”. The interview below was taken after his concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington D.C..

From MartinGuitar, Mark discusses his musical influences, the new album, and Chelsie. Much more at the link.

Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences?
MB: I have a wide range. Growing up, there was a lot of flamenco played in my house. I love Paco de Lucía and the Gypsy Kings. So it was that kind of stuff. I’m a huge Eric Clapton fan. I think today—nowadays—I would say that John Mayer is kind of someone I really look up to, and I love his music. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well… Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, so yeah, all those kind of guys.

When you first started performing, did you play a lot of cover songs, or has it always been an original thing for you?
MB: I think my first gig, I remember, was at a place called the Rugby Club in Guildford, England, and we played about half and half. It was about half our own songs and then we did some covers as well. So usually, the set was about six originals and six covers as well.

Have a sweet weekend All!! More soon! 😉 xxx
