Afterbuzz TV has posted their new commentary for Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Week 7. This time Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson joined them. I haven’t watched this in full yet, but will later. See if you agree with them this time and let us know in comments….
Lois is back and this time she writes a fun poem for Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Week 7! Thanks Lois!
MY POEM FOR WEEK SEVEN
LOOSELY BASED ON THE ADDAMS FAMILY THEME SONG
THE SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY
They were Spooky, they were Foxy, they were ooky
The Ballroom Family was crazy and they were kooky
Their ballroom was a scream from each genius team
SpookyBomBom a Halloween graveyard it would seem
The Foxes were unleashed, sneaking around the floor
Foxing Awesome, their tails brought laughter and more
A mysterious announcement filled the ballroom air
Glory be, a guest judge will be the incredible Cher
The Ballroom Family felt pressure to do their very best
With each dance performed, they passed the final test
From Las Vegas to Los Angeles, Elvis came to inspire
Viva! Bill and Emma Quickstepped, they were on fire
A television anchor with special news went on the air
Elizabeth and Val’s Quickstep was attacked with flair
Tony and Leah shook their hips to a furious Salsa beat
Shimmying across the floor their steps were really neat
Brant and Peta Jived to a Tutti Fruitty, delicious song
It was a high-stepping treat, our feet Jived right along
Derek, Amber’s Paso Doble rocked the spooky crowd
Flying across the floor to rousing applause really loud
Corbin and Karina danced a sharpened Cha Cha Cha
Cheers rang out, there was many an oh, many an ah
Jack and Cheryl warmed up their feet with the Jive
It was a sparkling, spectacle, they surely came alive
Sasha and NIcole electrified with a Samba so fine
It was shimmery, glimmery, meriting scores of nine
The time came for the elimination, who would go
Oh dear, Sasha, Nicole surprisingly left the show
THE SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY
Flew through the ballroom, so bewitching to see
Week Eight will come next week how can that be
We will pay a return call to see the Ballroom Family!

SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY WERE SCREAMS!
HALLOWEEN, BOO! IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR IT SEEMS!
Kind of a strange, low-energy night for me – I feel like everyone, across the board, had kind of a so-so night, and I think it’s due in part to the fact that two dances a week are really starting to wear on some of the couples. I think I notice it more this season than any other season – some are dealing with injuries, some are dealing with strained partnerships, some are dealing with illnesses, and everyone seems to be feeling the pressure.
I think most of us can agree that it was not Nicole’s time to go home – however, I’m appalled at some of the sources of blame I’m seeing from those who are upset about it, and I place a lot of blame on the shoulders of TPTB for some really sh*tty scoring decisions. Nicole got a very kind score for her samba – while it wasn’t bad, I certainly don’t think it was 27-worthy, as she seemed to struggle with timing and there was very little hip action. So you can’t blame scores for her exit…although the judges likely screwed her over by overscoring just about everyone except Bill – it only served to make the margins smaller, which meant that someone below her needed even fewer votes to surpass her. And this was ON TOP of the big points dump from last week, so the margins were itty bitty. And sorry, but those of you upset about her going home – you were actually voting for her, right? Cause I’m finding that the biggest complainers about Nicole’s exit were people that didn’t bother to throw a single vote her way all season. If you didn’t vote, you don’t get to bitch & moan, and you are part of the problem. Snookole needed VOTES…and she didn’t get them. Kinda how this show works…this isn’t really a revelation, kids.
And fair warning: I’m going to be prone to bouts of rantining this week, after some of the wanton idiocy and deductive reasoning leaps I witnessed after last night’s elimination. I’m allergic to stupid, y’know
1/2.) TIE: Corbin & Karina and Amber & Derek – Just kind of an odd night from both of these couples – I don’t feel like either one was operating at peak performance levels. I think Corbin & Karina coped as well as they could with a rather odd cha-cha song – seemed like there was a lot of what Len would call “frippery”, though…lotta side-by-side hip-hop sections, but I kinda blame the rhythm changes in the song for that. Someone on Twitter remarked that Karina seemed stressed – and yes, I have to agree, and wonder if the constant pressure to make their routines better and better is beginning to wear on she & Corbin’s partnership. Then there was Amber & Derek, who both had injuries to contend with – while I think they handled their paso doble well, I think Derek did kinda take the safe route on it; seemed like it wasn’t as daring or impactful as some of the other paso dobles we’ve seen from him. Pleasant to watch, yes; super-innovative and exciting? Not really. Let’s hope they can get back into good physical form so they can tackle more daring stuff. Read more..
Haven’t the AfterBuzz TV interviews been excellent this Season? I’m liking them as much as the George Pennacchio interviews for On The Red Carpet. They get to the heart of the matter below. Also, and as in previous weeks, they find out a few of the new dances for next week. Note how Emma and Bill have a Disco dance (but, it could possibly change). Karina and Corbin have the Argentine Tango. Peta says she doesn’t know their dance yet, but, it’s one of two. Val and Elizabeth don’t say.
Great opening dance by Mandy Moore!
The Big ANNOUNCEMENT is that Cher is performing and guest judging – BFD. I mean, really? That warranted me not missing the first few minutes?? You’re going to be pimping the crap out of it for the next 7 days!! Is Cher on a label affiliated with ABC/Disney???
Derek is dressed to Dance!!
Brant and Liz both use a shit ton of frippery and once again don’t get called on it. We’ll see if anyone does tonight. Wonder if Derek has any frippery.
Len is still in love with Liz.
Bruno says Brant went off time a couple times and still gives a 9. Right. AND he slipped on the skirt. Right.
Team Spooky Bon Bom is smack talking – biggest smack talkers usually lose.
ETA: Team FoxingAwesome easily wins the Team dance – wasn’t as close as the scores imply, IMO, just based on the fact that FA had actual dance moves in their dance. And Ballroom to boot.
Bill and Nicole were the last two standing – and I’m pissed that we lost the darling Nicole while Leah still darkens our dance floor.
Sorry, Rioters – I cannot celebrate with you. Nicole was a better dancer, even though I liked both couples very much.
Hey All! This is fun teaser….and kind of riveting! Check out People.com. They have a new video where you can watch the team captains picking the couples for their team dance. They get told about their songs too. More at People.com.
Indeed Brooke, “let the rehearsals begin”!!
Today former dancing contestant Christina Milian was a guest on Good Morning America (along with Enrique Iglesias! *sigh ). Christina talks on Dancing With The Stars and how no one knows if there will be one or TWO eliminations tonight!! The pressure is on. They interview Cheryl and Jack in rehearsals. They’ve been dancing as if it’s their last dance. Emma and Bill were also interviewed. They were so relieved to be called safe last week. They are all scared and working really hard. Bill says, “Everyone is kinda crunching right now”.
ADDING: So, with a “big announcement” coming, are they trying to prepare us that there is a “double elimination” tonight? I don’t know what to think?
ADDING2: Btw, Jack and Bill’s dances for tonight look pretty good in rehearsals. Let us know your thoughts.
Well, I can’t believe we’re in week 7…and we still have 8 celebrities. I don’t know if dance order is so important at this point, and particularly not this season. Also, everyone has been VERY quiet today – I expect they’ll all start blabbing as soon as I leave to go out with my friends.
ETA: Vogue here and we have our first update. Yep, as soon as Heidi took off, some dance orders were announced.

The first thing that popped into my head when looking at the numbers was, “Damn, Bill has a shot here.” Seriously, he really could. And when they add another 50 – 60 points to each couple, it could get better. But I skip ahead. The table below shows my estimated scores along with the actual scores.
Gee, when all is said and done, the two “shocking” scores are the only ones I wasn’t either on target or very close with – does anyone think this is coincidental?? I don’t. I mean, they weren’t natural or normal, so there you go.
Now, 4 points seems like a lot, between Bill and Jack/Corbin, but it only translates to 13k votes per million votes cast. That’s a middling number – not low, not super high. Maybe it’s my wishful thinking, but I think Bill can get that over Jack. Probably not Corbin, because I can’t believe they would risk him with a shit score if he wasn’t getting the votes. Of course, ABC just had a commercial that said something along the lines of “Don’t miss the first minute, or you’ll miss a big announcement” – Linz on twitter saw it and she thinks it’s something about JLo performing, someone else said she might be guest judging – I’m thinking they’re going to have a double elimination surprise. And yes, I know Derek said there wasn’t one – but that’s the whole point of a “surprise” right? My cynical brain says that they didn’t announce it last week or put it in the press release because they wanted to see what the votes looked like first. Which could be bad news for Bill and Jack. Anyway, let’s look at how the vote requirements stand after the end of Monday’s show. Read more..
The odds makers have placed their new bets at Sports Bovada!! This time they’ve switched Brant and Snooki! They’ve also switched Leah and Bill! The numbers have changed some too….especially LEAH’S from 18/1 odds to now 100/1 odds!!!
Corbin Bleu 5/4
Amber Riley 7/5
Elizabeth Berkley 6/1
Jack Osbourne 12/1
Brant Daugherty 16/1
Bill Engvall 100/1
Leah Rimini 100/1
Below are last week’s odds:
Corbin Bleu 3/2
Amber Riley 7/2
Elizabeth Berkley 7/2
Jack Osbourne 14/1
Brant Daugherty 18/1
Leah Remini 18/1
Bill Engvall 100/1
My thoughts: Finally, Leah is getting the odds she’s deserved since this season started. She’s just got to go this week. Though I was shocked to see Brant lowered on the list. I thought he and Peta’s dance was good last week (it’s also been one of my favorite dances of the season so far) and I’m even thinking he might be a dark horse now and not Jack? I don’t know…but, these new odds are exciting me a little more than in previous weeks. Though please, I hope Bill keeps proving the odds makers wrong!
Let’s see what Heidi and Court think?
Courtney: Well, I guess if they still think Bill has such sh*tty odds of winning, the next best thing is recognizing that someone else has equally sh*tty odds of winning – especially when said person is total Debbie Downer. The fact that we didn’t have an elim this past week has left me feeling a bit blind to how the votes are going – I like to think Bill is getting more votes than people think he is, but I really don’t know for sure. I’m a little puzzled by Jack being so high, since I think he’s been fading into the woodwork these past few weeks and hasn’t exactly gotten stellar scores – he’s done alright, but he hasn’t done great…and I think he’s running the risk of getting lost in the shuffle. Surprised Snooki isn’t higher – she seems to have done pretty well these past few weeks. As for the top of the pack – I think the judges are going to continue to push Elizabeth on us, to ensure that she makes the finale; I just worry that if they prop her up enough, she could end up displacing either Amber or Corbin for the 2nd place spot. I think Amber & Corbin deserve to be the last two standing (both in terms of dance skill and performance quality), but the very suspect behavior of the judges this past week makes me worry that they may tinker a bit too much in the finale – Len doesn’t like Amber, Carrie Ann & Bruno don’t seem too fond of Corbin, and all three heap praise on Liz. Please tell me I’m being paranoid in worrying about all this now
Heidi: Sorry, you’re not being paranoid. They haven’t really switched Brant and Snooki or Leah and Bill, they’ve lowered Snooki’s odds down to Brant’s and Leah’s down to Bill’s. Why they would give Leah a better shot than anyone, at this point, is beyond me. But I do think the top 3 is shaking out to be what they’ve got up there. The only thing I question is Jack’s placement so high. I agree with Courtney that he’s getting lost in the shuffle – through no fault of his or Cheryl’s. There are just bigger personalities. I think I would switch Snooki and Jack. If not for the judges seeming determined that Bill goes home, I would move him up the board a spot or two as well. But unfortunately, the judges scores do count and the writing seem to be on the wall for him. Maybe. Let me take this opportunity to pimp my Dancing by the Numbers post which will be arriving in an hour or two.
