PureDWTS Season 15 Week 3: Media And Interviews After The Iconic Dances

It’s media time after the dance on Dancing With The Stars! What a night!! I’m still so blown away by Derek & Shawn’s performance…and what about Kelly & Val (the dark horse!! Or is the dark horse Melissa and Tony?) and Apolo & Karina? I could go on and on. Ok, let’s get some reactions from the couples with George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet and more….

First up, Kirstie and Maks. They talk of embracing their characters last night. Is Maks wearing a mouth piece? LOL to having a new respect for women because his make-up hurts everywhere. So funny.

Emmitt hopes the fans are voting. He and Cheryl don’t like being towards the bottom, but, they hope to just keep focusing on the dance. What’s important is that the fans are happy. They loved the audience reaction at the end of their dance. They can’t wait to have Paula Abdul as a judge next week.

Melissa doesn’t mind being compared to a Cola by Len. She’ll take any kind of compliment. Tony couldn’t be more proud of a partner as he is in Melissa. Practice was tough all week, but, it was worth it last night when the dance came together.

George highlights Bristol’s strength and ability to tell it like it is. She’s glad the rough week is over. They are still at the bottom and hope their fans will vote and keep them in. If they survive, Bristol is excited to see what dance the couples pick for them. George tries to get more from her, but, she won’t give it. She wants to keep things in perspective (I never know what she means when she says that?).

DWTS Bristol Palin Talks Of Paso Doble, Tensions In Rehearsals With Mark Ballas

Sarahnet Radio has interviewed Bristol Palin again. They review last week’s dance and how happy Bristol is to be dancing again on Dancing With The Stars. She says the “crap” people give her for making it just motivate her that much more. Then they talk of the double elimination this week and Bristol and Mark’s Paso Doble. Bristol says the double elimination is “intimidating”, but, she’s staying “focused” on the dance. The competition with the cast has risen to another level and she’s been working even harder. So much so, she comments her and Mark are like an “old married couple” and they went at it this week in rehearsals which we’ll probably see in their package tonight.

Hmmm…not sure I am ready for tonight or not? 😯 LOL

ADDING: People.com has posted a rehearsal video with Mark and Bristol. You can watch it HERE. As you will soon see, it hasn’t been a smooth ride this week for them. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments and if and how it will effect voting tonight?

DWTS 15, Week 2 – The Cheesecake Awards!!!!

Heidi: I’m on a roll…or a tear, depending on your POV, this week. I’m feeling mean. You’ve been warned. Don’t come crying to me later for my sense of humor having a mean streak this week.

Courtney: But everyone out to be thankful that Heidi’s on a streak, because I myself am feeling a bit…sedate.  Apparently I am allergic to either Cajun seasoning or lump crabmeat, as I broke out into hives about 15 minutes after sampling a hot seafood dip Mama Spence made for the Colts game.  A few hours, a trip to the urgent care, and a shot of dexamethasone later, I’m feeling less itchy…but a little blaaaahhhh.  But hey, at least the Colts beat the Packers! 😀

The C U Next Tuesday Award, Redux: Carrie Ann Inaba, for rather heavy-handedly chastising Bristol Palin for breaking hold in her quickstep

Courtney: Let’s get one thing straight: I fully acknowledge that Bristol & Mark broke hold in their dance (if you haven’t yet, see my post about it) and I agree that the judges were right in pointing it out.  HOWEVER – I don’t endorse CAI for going all Regina George on Bristol for it, claiming she was going to “slam back” because Bristol “slammed them in the face” by breaking the staying in hold rule. First of all, I have to laugh at how egocentric CA must be to think that all the couples break rules with the intention of somehow dissing the judges – I’ve heard her make the same ridiculous assumption about couples doing lifts, as if every single choreographic decision the couples make that doesn’t fit into her her specific (and ever-changing) rule book is a personal insult to her.  My god, woman, IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!!! Second of all, at least direct your unwarranted indignance at the real guilty party – Mark.  Have you somehow forgotten that the pros ultimately make the choreographic decisions??? I don’t care how much influence you may think a celeb has over their pro partner – the pro gets the final say in the choreography, and if it really was Bristol insisting they break hold (and I’m not sure it was), then Mark should have had the cojones to put his foot down and tell her no.  But that’s neither here nor there – CA is a grown woman, not a teenage girl slamming another girl against a locker for stealing her boyfriend/copying her outfit/whatever.  Grow up, ya diva…before they have to pull an extra chair up to the judges’ table for your ever-growing ego.

Heidi: She’s just a nutbar. As you said she’s done this before – taken it as a personal insult to her that someone broke the rules.  Like Derek or Mark or Maks sit in a room with their partner saying, “What can we do to REALLY get CAI’s goat and piss her off?” But see, that’s the difference between CAI and the pros on this show. The pros are actual choreographers…it’s an art form, and sometimes they make creative decisions to put together the most exciting, memorable dance and that means a rule gets broken.  I doubt CAI was considered until they looked at the final routine and figured that they better warn their partner they might get in trouble because CAI is a self centered biotch who thinks it’s all about HER.

The “Making out is the new black!” Award: Helio & Chelsie and Apolo & Karina, for finding ways to smooch in their routine; honorable mention – Val Chmerkovskiy, for finding any excuse he could to kiss Kelly on the head/hand/arm/etc.

Courtney: This seemed to be one week where the makeup department was discouraged from using the long-wearing lipsticks that we’re used to seeing – as both Helio & Apolo proudly sported lipstick kisses on their faces from their female partners.  Love certainly seemed to be in the air this week…maybe they were inspired by Kirstie’s enthusiastic congratulatory smooch to Tom last week? 😛

Heidi: Well, I think Val and Karina have crushes. Don’t know what the hell the deal is with Chelsie. 😀

The “STFU Already” Award for Beating of a Dead Horse…AGAIN: Len Goodman for YET AGAIN reminding us of how shocking Sabrina’s elimination was in Season 6

Heidi: OMFG…how many times do we have to hear about this!!! Are they going to give her top of the leaderboard every week just to get the story they want at the end of the season?? “The most shocking elimination EVER finally wins!!! All is right with the fucking world.” :::rolls eyes:::  I think I actually freaking screamed when he said it yet again.

Courtney: Wait…Sabrina’s elimination was shocking? Hold the phone. MIND…BLOWN.  😯 Read more..

DWTS All Stars Week 2 – A Dancing by the Numbers Retrospective

So, lots of surprise and shock that Joey was eliminated this past week on DWTS. How could that happen, when three women had lower scores than him and he was such a charmer??  Well, there are lots of theories – I didn’t even really consider him as an option for elimination, but that’s what’s crazy about this season.  So, let’s explore how that might have happened. There are a number of possible reasons, but first we’ll go over the “How did it happen” as opposed to the “Why”.

As you might remember from my “Dancing by the Numbers” post for Week 2, Joey was tied for 7th place with Drew and Emmitt.  For Drew, who had been in the bottom two the previous week, to stick around, all he had to do was get ONE more vote per million votes cast than Joey, and voila! He’s safe. Same for Emmitt. Clearly, that happened.

But how did Helio end up in the bottom over the previously at-risk Drew? Drew had to have gotten at least 1,812 more votes per million votes cast than Helio. What else?? Well, ALL of the following had to happen for Helio to land in the bottom two:

–          Bristol got at least 18,116 more votes per million votes cast than Helio, AND;

–          Kirstie got at least 7,246 more votes per million votes cast than Helio, AND;

–          Kelly got at least 3,623 more votes per million votes cast than Helio, AND;

–          Drew and Emmitt both got at least 1,811 more votes per million votes cast than Helio.

Now, I had never believed that Helio was in the running for the MBT. I and others also said that he was a potential early exit. But Joey?? That was rather surprising. ALL of the following had to happen for Joey to be eliminated:

–          Bristol got at least 16,304 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, AND;

–          Kirstie got at least 5,435 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, AND;

–          Kelly got at least 1,812 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, AND;

–          Drew and Emmitt both got at least 1 more vote per million votes cast than Joey, AND;

–          Joey didn’t cover the spread between him and Helio.

DWTS All Stars, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Ah, week three – let’s all recreate iconic dances and make fans of the original cringe in horror. 🙂  I thought I would post this one a bit early, since it is bound to generate a lot of talk. 🙂  We’ll do the Cheesecake tomorrow, for those wondering.  Still lookin’ for a porno gif of the week. 😉

ETA: As I’m adding the video links to the post I’m watching the dances and I have to say…iconic??  Yes to the Futuristic Paso and yes to Mel and Maks Paso.

ETA2: Okay…maybe Julianne and Apolo…and I adore Carson.  And Julianne and Helio…but wasn’t that one all about the kiss at the end??

ETA3: Hmmm…I think that Helio and Julianne stretch the rules a good bit in their dance.  I think Derek’s going to break them completely, judging by one picture I saw.

ETA4: UPDATE to Gilles/Peta’s dance. They were inspired by Maks and Erin’s tango – which Court says is ordinary and which I can’t even remember. At all. Silly. And by they way, Gilles, your tooting of your own horn on Twitter, telling us how epic and amazing you’re going to be is not only tiresome, but cringe inducing. STFU, you’re making me want to vomit.

ETA5: Awesome, Gilles dancing second.  Of course, he’s telling us his dance is “real hard” and he wants to make it wonderful for us.  He could make it wonderful for me by shutting up. Geez.

ETA6: This is starting to look….interesting. 🙂

ETA7: Sheery, in the comments, says a Bristol fansite (there is such a thing??) is saying she’s 10th. And Mari mentioned that Karina tweeted that they were fourth, although I somehow missed that one. So, by process of elimination, Derek and Shawn have the pimp spot.  Perhaps the rumors about that dance are true?

Dancing With The Stars All Stars Details And Entertainment For Week 3, After Party Info

ABC MediaNet has released a press release detailing next week’s shows on Dancing With The Stars. Note how there will be an “exclusive encore” and “behind the scenes” footage from Monday night’s iconic dance night before the Results show. On tap to perform on the Results show is the group “Karmin”. Frankie Moreno will also perform with the troupe, Lacey Schwimmer, and…drum rolls….Kyle Massey. More details listed below and at the link.

“Episode 1503 & 1503A” – It’s “Iconic Dance Night” and the couples have been challenged by Judge Len Goodman to deliver show-stopping routines that the series has never seen before. The 11 remaining celebrities have chosen an iconic “DWTS” dance to reinterpret, MONDAY, OCTOBER 8 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. For the first time ever, the celebrities have taken charge of the creative direction of the routine, given the responsibility for all artistic decisions relating to the performance.

In a one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars – An Exclusive Encore,” we will recap Monday night’s stellar performances as well as include new, exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen interviews , TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). Following the special, on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars — The Results Show” (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), the couples face a double elimination and Karmin perform “Hello” and their irresistibly addictive single, “Brokenhearted,” from their debut album “Hello,” out now. Last year Karmin captured the attention of music lovers worldwide when they posted a cover of Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now.” The clip went viral, becoming one of YouTube’s most viewed videos; since then they’ve racked up about a half billion views for all of their videos online. The duo released their first album, “Hello,” earlier this year, shortly after their television debut on “Saturday Night Live.” Amy and Nick spent the earlier part of the summer touring around the country and headlining festivals, including a performance for a crowd of more than 100,000 in San Francisco last month. Also performing Tuesday night is musician Frankie Moreno with a medley of “Tangerine Honey” and “Real Wild Child,” accompanied by Troupe members Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey.

Also during Tuesday night’s results show, we will have the season’s first “AT& T Spotlight Performance,” featuring Joshua Johnson. Joshua, an ambitious young man from New York City, had always dreamt of going to college. But when his acceptance letter came from Penn State University, he realized he was never going to be able to afford it. His mother had lost her job years before and they had been living in shelters ever since. Josh decided he would raise the money he needed by tap dancing on the subway. He danced for hours, holding out his hat for donations. Eventually, he collected enough money to cover his freshman year of college. But to pay for future years, Josh would take a five-hour bus ride to New York every weekend and raise more money by tap dancing on the subway. Currently in his junior year at Penn State, he still travels to New York every weekend with the hope of raising enough money to get him through to graduation. Tuesday night, the ballroom welcomes Joshua and eight other dancers who will be dancing in a powerful piece by renowned choreographer JT Horenstein. The performance will be beautiful tribute to the people of New York, as Josh knows that without them he wouldn’t be in college.

Also, don’t miss watching the Dancing With The Stars After Party after the show on Monday night. According to Grinya Talent Agency, Anna Garnis will join the panel to critique the dances and the show. You can follow Anna on twitter at @AnyaGarnisLA. In telling you a little about Anya. She has performed in some of the results shows on Dancing With The Stars (beautiful flash back performance below). She’s also a dancer on So You Think You Can Dance. You can read more on her ballroom career here.
