PureDWTS Season 21 – Rumor Round-Up

As we’re on the eve of the announcement of the first season 21 celeb in less than 12 hours, I figured it was time to come up with a summary post of all the rumors we’ve covered so far this season.

As usual, here’s my explanation: I’ve divided our potential dancers this season into 5 categories: the “legitimate possibilities”, which are rumors that have surfaced within the last week or so (when most casting leaks occur) and come from sources that are generally pretty reliable when it comes to casting leaks; the “long shots”, which are rumors from less-reliable sources, vague tweets, and ambiguous responses from the celebs themselves – basically, rumors that we aren’t really as confident about; the “wannabes/campaigners”, who are celebs who have expressed interest in doing the show (but haven’t actually been reported as a rumor by any reputable outlets); “pure randomness”, which is for random and slightly interesting observations that may or may not indicate a certain celeb’s possible participation in this season – generally, they mean nothing, but we’re adding them here for sh*ts & giggles :-)  And then there are the “no’s”, the celebs that have confirmed that they won’t be participating in this season. I’ve added short notes in wherever I’ve found it pertinent.

Legitimate possibilities:

Shay Mitchell
Nick Carter
Kacy Catanzaro
Kaitlyn Bristowe

I’m a just leave this here. ~Heidi

Bethany Hamilton
Anthony Davis (said he turned it down – but acted rather wishy-washy about it)
Nick Jonas
Lindsay Lohan
Scott Disick
Pippa Middleton
Marilu Henner
Kobe Bryant or Vanessa Bryant

Christine Ouzounian
Andy Grammar
Ramona Singer
Terrell Owens

Pure Randomness:

Alison Baver
Boris Kodjoe (was originally supposed to be on season 18, but backed out)
Ricky Martin
Maureen McCormick
Chris Colfer
Christie Brinkley
Nick Lachey
Heather Locklear
Nina Dobrev
Drita D’Avanzo (draw your own conclusions – but it’s interesting)

The Definite No’s:

Rick Schroeder
Jodie Sweetin (personally told me “not this season”, but an interesting person liked my picture of her on Instagram)
Piers Morgan
Caitlyn Jenner
Amanda Bynes

Don’t forget to keep an eye on this post to see the names announced each morning this week on GMA! (NOTE: post won’t be active until tomorrow morning)

DWTS Rumors And Watchout: Cast Set And Celebrity Rumors??

Fashion Style posted a set of the pros set to return for Dancing With The Stars Season 21. They also write that Len Goodman has retired as a judge. Not only that, they post on celebrities interested in doing the show. Like @DWTSGossip posted at twitter, I agree how they never set the cast this early. I’d take this all with a grain of salt (even though I love who they mentioned for celebs). Heidi, what do you think? Scroll below to see her comment…

Pending any further commitments, the following pros are slated to return to the ballroom floor.

The male pro cast will include Derek Hough, Tony Dovolani, Mark Ballas, season 20 winner Val Chmerkovskiy, Artem Chigvinstev and Keo Motsepe.

For the females, reportedly returning will be Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Allison Holker, Emma Slater and Peta Murgatroyd.

Uncertain as to their return is Kym Johnson, who is currently in a relationship with former partner and “Shark Tank” star Robert Herjavec.

Also returning to the judge’s table are Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tognoli. Len Goodman has retired from the United States version of the series, but will remain in the U.K. to judge “Strictly Come Dancing.”

There has also been a report that several celebrities are interested in appearing on the show, including singer Ricky Martin, “Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick, “Glee” star Chris Colfer, model Christie Brinkley, actress Marilu Henner, singer Nick Lachey (who’s brother Drew Lachey won season 2) and actress Heather Locklear.

To read the full article, see Fashion Style.

Heidi: Total BS. Like “Fashion Style” is going to have  clue before any other outlet.  Derek doesn’t even know if he’s back yet and he said so as recently as a week ago. I thought I heard Kym was going back to Oz as a Judge. As for who they claim is interested?? Also BS with the possible exception of Heather Locklear, Christie and Marilu (which they probably got from us). As for Len, there was just a more reliable source that quoted TPTB saying not to count him out just yet.

DWTS Season 17, Week 5 – The Phone Flaps!!

OMG so much complaining about phone issues this week.  One actual significant one….and one that is about people being pissed of cuz they were outed as being stupid. 😀

Phone Flap #1 – The wrong phone numbers posted at the end of the show. This one is actually pretty significant to people who are casual watchers and, therefore, potentially unaware that those numbers were WRONG.  See the photo, below:

Wrong phone numbers

Heidi: Gee, you’d think that people who WORK ON THIS SHOW would know that the phone number to vote for a couple stays the same over the course of the season. But some yahoo in production made the list match the actual dance order of monday night. :::rolls eyes::: Lawd have mercy. Christina and Jack’s numbers are the only two out of the nine that are actually correct and that was just dumb ass luck. I have a feeling we’ll get an announcement at the beginning of next week’s show that the east coast phone votes are going to be tossed, and that’s a damn good thing. Much like last season, if you throw them ALL out, then no one gets an advantage or disadvantage.

Courtney: You had ONE JOB, Muppet in the control booth – ONE JOB.  And the fact that you screwed it up unfortunately doesn’t bode well for really anyone.  While they will likely decide to throw out all of the east coast phone votes, I have to wonder if someone like Snooki (who hails from New York) might get cheated out of some needed phone votes as a result…I think it’s entirely possible that the biggest chunk of her phone votes probably came from the east coast.  And this is basically a reverse of what happened at the end of last season, when they threw out the online votes – while throwing out the online votes and keeping the phone ones served to level the playing field a bit (since it basically limited the number of votes an individual could cast), I think throwing out some of the phone votes and keeping the online ones gives a little bit more influence to the power voters, who could sway the outcome a bit more.  I don’t think there’s any resolution to it, unfortunately – but it makes me slap my forehead and go “D’oh!” and hope that this snafu doesn’t cause some unexpected elimination catastrophe :-(

Heidi: Excellent points, all, Court.

Phone flap number 2 – Chris Colfer tweeting Amber’s phone number, saying it was his cell. Frankly, if you didn’t see this one for the joke it so clearly is, you’re an idiot. 😀

Heidi: But yes, apparently people were up in arms about it – me thinks they are pissed that they were outed as stoopid.

Courtney: This was an ACTUAL STORY over at E!.  Woooo hot, controversial topics, E! Such hard-hitting and scandalous stuff.  I’m sure you guys peed your pants 2 years ago when the Kardashian harpies tweeted out Rob’s voting number and claimed it was Justin Bieber’s cell #, right? Or a year ago when Kirstie was also claiming that her voting number was really Bieber’s cell? Yes? No? But c’mon, people – it’s a goddamn 800 number.  Even a low-functioning meth addict could probably take a look at it and go “Wait a minute…that don’t look right.” So if you were dumb enough to think that a) that was actually Chris’ cell #, and/or b) that he was actually dumb enough to tweet it out, you deserve to inadvertently vote for Amber & Derek…oh, the humanity! Such a sadistic punishment!!! *desperately trying to feign horror*

Heidi: Not mention that an ACTUAL reporter would look at Chris’ timeline (see below) and note that the number he tweeted exactly matches the number in the tweet of Amber’s that he retweeted a couple hours before. Credit where due – Ali of The Bachelorette was on E! when Gulianna the dim was complaining about this being “cheating” and she loudly says “Come on! It’s an 800 number!!” LOL – not good when you’re bested in the smarts department by a Bachelorette. Pssst…what are the odds that the Colfer fangirls and boys were already voting for Amber anyway? Yeah, I thought so. 😀

Courtney: Giuliana is an ostrich in a Posh Spice wig.  Pay her no mind as she squawks inanely 😉

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Glee Star Chris Colfer Rumored To Dance On Dancing With The Stars Season 17

Glee star Chris Colfer for Dancing With The Stars Season 17? Not sure how strong this rumor might be, but, Celeb Dirty Laundry is including him in their list of new rumors for the new season along with Paula Deen, Jon Gosselin, and Tony Kanaan (who we’ve already reported about). Here is a take from their story….

Chris Colfer: The multitalented Glee star would make a fine addition to the show and would be a great move on DWTS’s part to help their efforts in drawing a younger crowd to the show. Supposedly, the show will be trying to imbue the contestant lineup with younger celebs.

If true, bring him on. I’ve always liked this actor. He does a great job on Glee. Though I can’t imagine what he and the cast of Glee must be going through losing fellow cast member Cory Monteith. What a sad tragedy that is.

Heidi: No, no and no again. We see this every season on DTWS. Some site makes up some rumor or someone whispers in their ear that so and so is going to be on the show. Yet, that someone is currently cast as a regular or recurring character on a primetime show on another network. Someone currently staring on another primetime show has NEVER been on DWTS…not only that, but even if you are on a *daytime* show on another network, you don’t get to be on.  The only TV people who make it on are ABC stars, Disney stars or some cable channel stars – or people from other networks who haven’t worked for that network for a long, long time. It just doesn’t happen and I don’t see it happening now.  Besides, Glee’s ratings are farther in the crapper than DWTS, so I don’t think they would look there for help.

Heidi again: They also word this as if it is their own wishlist and not rumor. “would be a great move” sounds like a guess to me.
