Dancing With The Stars 2011 – Saying Good-bye To Chris Jericho (Videos)

It seems every Season I am pleasantly surprised by the celebrity contestants they pick to do the show and how much I end up liking them and Chris Jericho was one of them. I, like many of you have expressed here and at twitter, am sorry to see him go. He took this dancing challenge seriously and with the same fierceness and intensity he did for the wrestling ring. But, most of all, he had such a genuine, fun-loving, light, and refreshing spirit that we all embraced. So, here’s to Chris Jericho!! Below are some videos of he and Cheryl talking about their journey on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Good Morning America. Such a class act with the loss and just thankful for the experience.

DWTS Season 12, Week 6 – Dancing by the Numbers

Well. Overall, I was underwhelmed. Loved Romeo and Ralph, for different reasons. Still love Hines and Kirstie. But this Derek fan is missing him terribly. I don’t need to list the numerous reasons why. :::sigh:::

Poor Chris and Cheryl – he was too much in his head and it showed in his dancing. And, as I believe I mentioned in last week, in the comments if not in the post itself – NO ONE can afford to have an off night. You have an off night this season and you can pretty much count on going home unless your name is Ralph, Kirstie or Hines. I just think those three are the vote getters – I could be wrong, of course.

Anyway, on with the scores…

The Judges Scores and Percentages

Place Celebrity Score Percentage
1. Romeo 28 15.56
2. Chelsea 28 15.56
3. Hines 27 15.00
4. Kirstie 26 14.44
5. Kendra 25 13.89
6. Ralph 24 13.33
7. Chris 22 12.22

So, what does Chris have to do to stick around?? Well, he’s going to have to rely VERY heavily on his and Cheryl’s fans this week. His saving grace is Cheryl Burke in that she is probably the most popular female pro on the show. Has Chris formed enough of a voting fanbase out of DWTS regular viewers to stick around? I’m very sad to say that I kind of doubt it. Here’s what he needs to have happen to stick around:

- He needs 11,120 more votes per Million votes cast than Ralph, OR;
- He needs 16,700 more votes per Million votes cast than Kendra, OR;
- He needs 22,250 more votes per Million votes cast than Kirstie, and I could go on but I won’t.

The ONLY one I see him reasonably beating is Kendra and I just don’t know that his and Cheryl’s fanbase is that much bigger than Kendra’s. I hope like hell I’m wrong. I really think after the fall that Ralph is safe (and was probably safe before the fall) and I also think that Kirstie and Maks are very well liked. So, what happens if Chris does MUCH better in the votes that I’m thinking he might? Well, next in danger is my sweetie, Ralph. :-) If we take Chris out of the equation and say he gets plenty of votes, what does Ralph need??

- Ralph needs only 5,600 more votes per Million votes cast than Kendra, OR;
- Ralph needs 11,120 more votes per Million votes cast than Kirstie, OR;
- Ralph needs 16,700 more votes per Million votes cast than Hines, OR;
- Ralph needs 22,250 more votes per Million votes cast than either Chelsea or Romeo.

I can see Ralph getting that many more votes than Kendra, easily, but the rest of them? Not sure. Not sure that it even matters, since I think it’s pretty much down to Kendra and Chris tonight, with Chris going home. I hope I’m wrong. :-( For Ralph to go HOME and Kendra and Chris to both stay, it would mean that Chris got 11,120 more votes per million cast than him and Kendra got more votes than him, period, since she has a higher judges score than him. It would mean that he didn’t have the 5,600 more votes than her that he needed. I don’t see that, which is why I think it’s down to Kendra and Chris. Follow?

Let’s say I’m hugely wrong, and we’re in shocking elimination territory – it is the magical week 6, after all. Or is that cursed? :-) Who are the most likely “shocking elimination” people?? Well, since they are two of the people who came into this thing with smaller VOTING fanbases, I would have to say Chelsea and Romeo. I think Hines likely has a massive fanbase, as do Kirstie and Ralph – again, these are assumptions on my part and you know what happens when you assume. Anyway, I think Chelsea and Romeo are the two celebs who are the largest candidates for “shocking eliminations”. So, if either one were to be eliminated tonight, ALL of the following would have to happen:

- It would mean that Chris got 33,350 more votes per million votes cast than the one going home, AND;
- It would mean that Ralph got 22,250 more votes per million votes cast than the one going home, AND;
- It would mean that Kendra got 16,700 more votes per million votes cast than the one going home, AND;
- It would mean that Kirstie got 11,150 more votes per million votes cast than the one going home, AND;
- It would mean that Hines got 5,600 more votes per million votes cast than the one going home, AND;
- It would mean that the person at the top of the leader board STAYING got ONE more vote than the one going home.

Yeah. I don’t see it happening either. Again, I could be wrong, but that’s a lot of votes. If it happens to one, it’s more likely Romeo… but then, he’s been doing really well, so maybe not. Hines is only one point off Chelsea and Romeo and is arguably more popular, so I don’t see that happening either.

And here’s a problem I see happening for the next couple weeks; someone who doesn’t have a huge voting fanbase coming into this show (Chelsea, Romeo, Kendra, Chris) has an off night and they go home. I am thinking that the Ralph/Kirstie/Hines fans are greater in number and therefore PROBABLY counter any lower scores from the judges. SO, if you are one of those other couples and DON’T happen to score at the top of the leader board? Bye Bye. And this is what I think will happen to Chris tonight. It could be Kendra, but I’m thinking Chris. Very sadly. What happens if, after tonight, everyone does very well?? HA! I don’t see it – this season has been too wacky. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Sorry, Chris – I will miss you and your darling fake British accent.

Dancing With The Stars 12, Week 6 – Post Show Interviews & Highlights (Videos)

What a night on Dancing With The Stars. Lots of good dancing for the most part and we saw our first “10′s” of the Season. Here is Tony Dovolani on Good Morning America today with some highlights and a review (he clearly seems to favor Mark and Chelsea.uggh).

Our favorite Dancing With The Stars interviewer from ABC LA, George Pennacchio, interviewed all of our couples to get a reaction on their dances, the judges scores, and some information about next week’s dances if they make it.

First up, here is Kirstie and Maks ecstatic about their dance and funny as ever. Also, George asks them on an upcoming “Team Cha Ca” if they make it tonight.

Ralph and Karina talk about the fall last night and the futuristic choreography they created (which I LOVED!).

Romeo discusses how much he has ended up loving the show and dancing….which he never thought he could do. He wants to buy Chelsie diamonds.

Chelsea and Mark dish on the stressful dance rehearsal they had the day before the show, Mark’s injury, and their high scores regardless of the challenges this past week.

Kendra had fun “for once” (“for once”? Geezzz. and I thought she said she had fun last week. I guess not). Louis said Carrie Ann thinks they are a contender now. He also talk of next week’s dance if they make it (the Tango or Paso Doble).

Hines and Kym talk about their friendship and chemistry. Hines just wants to try and stay consistant. They loved the standing ovation for them last night.

Lastly, Chris and Cheryl discuss how they are perfectionists. They also talk on the scores lastnight and if their fans voted for them. Cheryl seems very nervous.

Access Hollywood also interviewed our dancing couples. Below is Ralph and Karina on the night. Be sure to see the link for more interviews.

Ok, that is all for now for this Week 6 interview roundup. Here’s to the results show tonight!! It’s going to be a fun one!! ;)

DWTS12 Week 6 Power Rankings

Well, as high as my hopes were for “Guilty Pleasures” night, I’m left with mixed feelings this evening – definite highs and lows, some wonky scoring, and yet another unfortunate mishap.  But hey, at least I’m not left with complete negativity like I was last week! 6 out of the 7 songs I predicted before the show were correct…but I didn’t get a Ralph & Karina paso to “Sunglasses at Night” Sunglasses at Night - Corey Hart: The Singles :-( A girl can dream…

1.) Hines & Kym – For the first time since week 1, I feel like I actually saw Hines a little bit off his game – this Viennese waltz seemed to lack the finesse that usually sets his performances apart from the other contestants.  He seemed to get a little bit “ahead” of the beat at times, and looked kinda flat-footed to me.  My best explanation? He couldn’t reconcile the fast tempo of the V. waltz with the romantic feel of it, and thus ended up somewhere in between the extremes – just kind of “blah” and more in his head than in the dance.  Was it a bad dance? No.  Did it leave an impression on me? No.  Certainly wasn’t his best dance, and I thought it was overscored by a point or two.  However, he does have the 2nd highest score of the night, and has been a fan favorite since day 1 – I get the feeling his support only grows week to week.  With the points spread the way it is, his chances of going home are slim to none.

2.) Ralph & Karina – Though I’m still mourning the fact that “Sunglasses at Night” was not used as his music (*sniff*), I think this paso started off strong and had a lot of promise – Ralph attacked it with a fierceness I haven’t seen from him since week 1.  Then came the 2nd “fall heard round the world” – aye dios mio.  I really don’t want to see any other contestants - celebs or pros – falling down anymore this season.  I feel horrible for them, even if they aren’t necessarily my favorite people.  Karina looked like she was near tears, but I was impressed with how Ralph managed to keep going despite the mishap.  Really & truly, as warped as this may sound – I think the fall may have helped them more than if they had done the whole routine without a hitch.  High scores often bring complacency with voters – low scores and mishaps are what spur people to vote hard.  And that’s exactly what I think will happen this week: Ralph’s fans are just going to vote that much harder to protect him from danger.  Daniel-san has a few more weeks left in him, at least ;-)

3.) Romeo & Chelsie – After the last beat of this waltz, I thought to myself “Wow…Romeo could be the wild card for the finale!” Seriously – if he continues to improve the way he has the past few weeks, I could see him possibly bumping one of the favorites (perhaps Ralph or Kirstie) out of the finale.  He’s finally let go of the “cool guy” exterior, and seems to be throwing himself headlong into every dance – I gotta give the kid props, he really seems to get into the “character” of each dance.  And his technique is improving too – this waltz was the smoothest and most controlled I’ve seen him so far.  And nobody can accuse the kid of not being romantic – he laid a smooch on a very unsuspecting Chelsie at the end! He’s tied for the high score this week, and seems to be gaining support on Twitter – more and more people seem to be taking notice of him each week.  My only concern is that he may be sharing a voting demographic with Chelsea – people voting for “young & charming” may be dividing their votes between the two of them, which could result in one or both of them getting sent home earlier than expected.  I think he ought to be ok this week, but he could be a possible “shock elim” in the coming weeks…

4.) Kirstie & Maks – Wow.  Kirstie did a lot better than I thought she would with this samba – especially since the music was not great.  Was it perfect, or her best performance? No.  But it was good to see a little bit of the attitude back from her cha-cha the first week, and overall, it was entertaining – even if she mess up a few times.  Was really impressed that she handled the samba rolls so well – gotta give credit to both Maks & Karina for not holding back this season & dishing out one of the most difficult samba moves.  Thankfully, I think these two are in a good place this week – not so high as to make their voters complacent, and not so low as to be in legitimate danger. But let’s just hope they can carry this momentum for the next few weeks, because we are definitely in “shock elim” territory.

5.) Chelsea & Mark – Something about this quickstep left me very uneasy – well, a few things actually.  This was the first time I’ve seen Chelsea actually look uncomfortable out on the floor.  Even when doing her “rule-breaking” jive and “risk-taking” Viennese waltz, she looked perfectly at ease.  At times tonight during this quickstep, she looked completely lost to me – a strained smile,  a tense frame, and a look in her eye that seemed to say “I’m holding on for dear life.” Mark was Mark-squared this week – exaggerating every bounce & flick, which just seemed to draw even more attention to the fact that Chelsea wasn’t moving with her usual energy.  I would even go so far as to say that I saw this same “trying to keep my head above water” cry for help on Shannen’s face a year ago, when doing Mark’s exceptionally difficult Viennese waltz.  I just wish he could scale things back in order to suit his partner’s abilities – that’s all.  Here’s what I think their big problem is – despite their high score, I don’t know if they’re going to be memorable enough this week – Hines is Mr. Consistent, and is likely getting loyal voters each week; Kirstie had a comeback week; Romeo had a breakthrough week; and Ralph had a live television accident week.  Is anyone going to really remember this dance amongst all that excitement? Plus, they’re tied for the high score – a dangerous place to be if your fanbase is iffy, since it also breeds complacence…ask Audrina.  If there was going to be a shock elimination this week, I’d say it would be these two – there’s just several factors at work that, if combined, could result in disaster.  Do I think they deserve to go home? Hell no.  But I wouldn’t rule it out completely, either.

6.) Kendra & Louis – Kendra’s best performance, but it’s not really saying much considering she has been a rather big letdown for me this season.  Yes, Kendra had a lot of fun tonight and it showed – but this was 80% gyrating and only 20% actual samba, and the little samba I saw was pretty atrocious.  I just don’t think she really knows what to do with her arms & legs sometimes – I guess the word “flaily” describes it best.  At least she seemed to try to keep the attitude to a minimum this week (aside from an eye roll or two).  Do I think she deserves to stick around, based on her performances so far? No.  I’d say she’s probably the least improved of the remaining dancers, and will likely get eaten alive if she manages to eek out another week on the show.  But I think this week we’re finally gonna get to see if her fanbase is as “huge” as it claims itself to be – she isn’t at the bottom of the leaderboard for once (she’s got a 3 point cushion), and she’s not up against someone like Petra with a small fanbase.  Will her fans rally, since the urgency is not there?

7.) Chris & Cheryl – Ugh.  I really wanted these two to do better tonight – but unfortunately, I think they kinda got the score they deserved :-( However, I’m going to partially blame the music – I don’t think either of them were thrilled that they got “Don’t Stop Believing”, as it seemed like they both never really connected with the dance.  Honestly, this song & the tango are a complete disconnect – a fierce, aggressive dance paired with a song about hope and perseverence? No wonder these two looked lost! Chris seemed terrified with every step – as if he might shatter the floor if he moved too quickly – and I’m a bit disappointed with Cheryl for reverting to her “I’m just gonna dance around my partner and hope no one notices” ways that she used with Chad & Rick.  This week was not good, but if I’m looking at all Chris’ performances so far – I’d say he just had an off-week and deserves to stay more than Kendra, since I do think he’s improving.  And I do think he has at least a mediocre chance of overtaking Kendra to stick around – especially since he’s been around longer and probably has a more popular pro to bolster his vote totals.  Can he do it? We shall see.

Ok folks, weigh in: was “guilty pleasures” night better or worse than you expected? Do you think Kendra can survive another week, or is her time up? Will ABC continue to pimp the Pia/Mark (with minor supporting cast Karina) performance? (Ok, we can pretty much guarantee that last one ;-)) What say you? :-)

DWTS Season 12 – Cheryl Burke On Showing The Graceful Side Of Chris Jericho And More

10 Year-old LA Times blogger, Hannah Mitchell, was invited to Chris and Cheryl’s studio to ask a few questions…and they are ‘interesting’ questions to say the least. Below is a small take of the interview. Follow the link for much more.

Q: Chris, has being a pro wrestler helped you to learn to dance?
Chris Jericho: Yes, well, we’re in Week 6 on the show, so I must be doing something right. There are a lot of similarities between dancing and wrestling. The costumes are the same, the spandex and all that, but you have to be light on your feet to do both, and you have to remember choreography. How to switch your balance back and forth and that sort of thing, so there are a couple of things you use in wrestling that you can use in dancing as well.

Q: Cheryl, what was the toughest part of training Chris to dance?
Cheryl Burke: I think the toughest part has been getting him to be a little more graceful, especially with his arm movements on the slower dances. Really trying to make sure everything he does isn’t abrupt and show the graceful side of Chris.

Hannah topped the interview off with this little video. It’s so cute!

Pure DWTS 12 – Dancing With The Stars Pros: “The Road To Ballroom Success” (Video)

Good Morning America did a nice little spread on the pros and their backgrounds today to see where all of their talent came from and what they are like off the dancefloor!! Don’t miss it! The pics of them when they were so young are so cute!! I wish Mark would grow his hair like he had it in his teenage years. Look, Derek is included in this too. :) (Heidi’s Note: Heh. DWTS Stats Class – Week 6

Guilty Pleasures Night! The songs that we love to listen to and are ashamed to admit that we rather enjoy.

What is your guilty pleasure? I’ll name a couple of mine:
- Backstreet Boys: Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely - Millennium
- Girls Aloud: Life Got Cold Life Got Cold - Sound of the Underground

Hmm… a wee melodramatic aren’t I?

Ok for something a wee upbeat:
- Westlife: Uptown Girl Uptown Girl (Radio Edit) - Unbreakable - The Greatest Hits, Vol. 1

ANYWAY! Onwards!

Ralph and Karina – Paso Doble
- Age [40s]: 22.417
- Occupation [Actor]: 25.778
- Pro Partner: 24.4
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Ralph hasn’t hit his stride like everyone thought and hoped he would. After such a strong showing in the first couple weeks something hasn’t clicked yet. Be it nerves or fatigue or something… in either case, unless something changes or clicks he might be out of the door sooner than most of us would like. Ralph tends to do better in dances that are a bit more “fun-loving” which is NOT the Paso Doble. Still it’d be interesting to see the passiong come out for this dance.

Kirstie and Maks – Samba
- Age [60s]: 20.25
- Occupation [Actress]: 21.333
- Pro Partner: 24
Averaged Predicted Score: 21
Thoughts: Kirstie is another one that had a strong showing at the beginning and then all of sudden just disappeared from the top. Despite some more than stellar performances. I really would love to see her break through, I’m not entirely sure if the Samba would be the dance to do it.

Romeo and Chelsie – Waltz
- Age [20s]: 23.444
- Occupation [Singer]: 24.571
- Pro Partner: 24
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Romeo did it again, I couldn’t stop watching and rewatching the foxtrot. It would seem like he got over his aversion towards ballroom dances, but I’m going to hold my breath a little bit and see how he does with the Waltz.

Chris and Cheryl – Tango
- Age [40s]: 23.667
- Occupation [Athlete]: 24
- Pro Partner: 23.667
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: Chris is another celeb that’s been growing on me and he seems to be getting better in the ballroom dances. He did surprise me a bit on the Paso Doble so here’s hoping he could carry over that tension and passion onto the Tango.

Hines and Kym – Viennese Waltz
- Age [30s]: 24.355
- Occupation [NFL]: 24.5
- Pro Partner: 23.75
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: This guy’s infectious, I love him even more in the ballroom dances, particularly when he’s having fun. As long as he keeps it up, I’m not going to complain about him (I’m not talking about the scores… I blame the producers/judges for that one)

Chelsea and Mark – Quickstep
- Age [20s]: 25
- Occupation [Disney]: 23.75
- Pro Partner: 25.25
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: This couple rubs me the wrong way, despites some stellar scores. She’s doing all right, but I don’t think I could stand her for much longer… there isn’t enough of a balance if that makes any sense.

Kendra and Louis – Samba
- Age [20s]: 26.615
- Occupation [Reality TV]: 23.667
- Pro Partner: 21.5
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: Why the frack is she still around? Can’t we cut her out please? Like now? I’ve got nothing to say about her, she’s not improving in my opinion, and her comments come off as odd for me. So yeah, gone… like now… like last week.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

DWTS Season 12, Week 6 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

I can’t believe it’s Week 6 already! I’ve also ALMOST given up hope that anyone is going to spill their dance order any more. Almost…but not quite. ABC will pimp the crap out of Mark and Pia, but heaven forbid we find out what order they’re dancing in.

Again an odd mix dances this week, but the only double is the Samba – which oddly seems more normal. Or maybe I’m looking for logic in the illogical. :-)

Ralph and Karina – Paso Doble
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.08

Little preview from Karina -

Kenda and Louis – Samba – dancing 5th (per Louis’ Twitter)
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.07

Chelsea and Mark – Quickstep
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.01

Kirstie and Maks – Samba – dancing 1st (per Kirstie’s Twitter)
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.11

Romeo and Chelsie – Waltz
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.05

Chris and Cheryl – Tango – dancing 2nd (per Cheryl’s Twitter)
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.09

Hines and Kym – Viennese Waltz
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.03

I think those with Samba may have issues – Kirstie and Kendra – but they could surprise me. Ralph is looking pretty good except for his hands (which I’m sick of hearing about, frankly – how about we pick on Kendra’s feet??). Chelsea will likely be fine, provided that people aren’t sick of hearing about Pia and Mark. I think the Tango will play to Chris’ strengths. Hines and the V. Waltz?? No idea. Same goes for Romeo and the Waltz. A hard call in both cases. I think Hines will likely do just fine. :-)

Dancing With The Stars 12, Week 6 – Las Vegas Odds Before Showtime

What a shake-up again this week for the Las Vegas Odds! They’ve got Kirstie next to last. *CRIES* She really needs to come out this week. Hines is in a strong first positition. I am glad to see Ralph still at the top. I was worried after last week’s dance. So, here’s to tomorrow night! ANYTHING could happen!!!! (Heidi’s Note: These jokers are guessing just like the rest of us only they are placing all their money on judges scores. When the odds change this much from week to week?? Jokers.)

1. Hines Ward 6/5
2. Chelsea Kane 4/1
3. Ralph Macchio 5/1
4. Chris Jericho 15/2
5. Lil’ Romeo 15/2
6. Kirstie Alley 10/1
7. Kendra Wilkinson 18/1
