DWTS Season 9, Week 8 – Media from the Home Stretch (Part 2)

Written by: Princess Heidi

Say what you want about LaToya, but she’s actually doing a reasonably good job with these interviews – Access Hollywood

Oh, this is too bad – from People.com:

Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks have decided to call it quits, a source tells PEOPLE. “This was mutual. They needed some time apart,” says the source.

Hough, 21, and Wicks, 30, both are still expected to attend the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday – Wicks is covering the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight and Hough is a presenter.

DWTS Costumes…Sparkle and Shine!

Written by: Jeanne

Hey Everyone! I’m a new blogger for DWTS so I thought I’d let you guys know what to expect from my blogs :) I will be blogging about the costumes featured on this season and the choreography/technique of the dances and how well (or not so well) each couple performed them! Now that we have that out of the way let me get started!

I absolutely love the costumes that the celebs and pros wear on DWTS and I first wondered how all the costumes got sewn and fitted in time! I googled Randall Christensen, the head wardrobe designer, and found that he only has 3 1/2 days to get costumes made! This has got to be a crazy time during the first weeks of competition since there are so many couples! I also found this AMAZING youtube video interviewing Mr. Christensen about the process:

To me, what makes are great costume is a combination of:

  • Is the material used appropriate for the dance style?
  • Is the costume suited for the celeb and pro as a couple?
  • Does the style of the costume match the style of the dance?
  • Are the sparkle and shine elements right on for the costume or not quite there?
  • Are the accessories perfect for the costume or are they to much or to little?
  • Overall, does the costume compliment the celebrity to showcase their dance strengths instead of their dance weaknesses.

With that said…here are my top 5 favorite costumes and my top 5 train wrecks!

TOP 5 FAVORITES (Season 4 – Present):

  1. Chelsie Hightower and Ty Murray: Season 8

DWTS – Miscellaneous News and Rumors

Written by: Princess Heidi

Sweet Interview with Gilles in Celebrity Baby Blog. Here’s an excerpt:

Gilles Marini started off season eight of Dancing With the Stars known only as the naked neighbor from the Sex and the City movie, but he quickly danced his way into America’s heart — and second place in the reality competition.

His success with a more intimate audience, though, is what really makes him smile. With Father’s Day approaching, the 33-year-old former firefighter and model opened up to Life & Style about life with his wife, Carole, and kids Georges, 10, and Juliana, 2 ½. “Being a parent is simple,” he says. “Be with them, love them, and everything should be perfect.”

Chuck Wicks on How to Rope a Country Hunk.  Chuck, Chuck, Chuck…I just don’t know. :-)

Animal instinct.

Girls with dogs are the way to go. If they can love a dog, they can baby something, and that’s what guys want. They want to be taken care of and babied all the time.

According to Buddy TV, Gilles Marini heads to Nip/Tuck.

“You don’t see me in the shower. You see me in a towel and you realize that I’ve just had sex and I’m coming out of the shower because I needed to be clean,” Marini described his sort of naked scene on Nip/Tuck.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant will be playing the new husband (a much younger bad boy) of Vanessa Redgrave’s Erica—which means that Julia’s evil mama is definitely back! Obviously, these two didn’t marry for love.

“He’s involved in trying to scheme Sean away from his kids so we can have the control of them. They realize I’m not the guy she should have married because I’ve done bad things, and then there’s a big payback from Julia,” Marini revealed.

Karina Smirnoff wants the Fairy Tale

“I definitely want that fairy tale, big skirt ball gown,” she told Usmagazine.com at Wednesday’s Russian Heritage Festival in NYC. “When else can you wear that?”

Karina and Maksim in US Magazine (much longer article):

“We had our first meeting with the wedding planner, and we’re really excited,” she told Us. “He is amazing, and we’re finalizing all the details.”

Smirnoff said the nuptials — likely to take place next summer — will be in New York.

“He wants it in New York, and if that makes him happy, I’m sure I’m going to earn brownie points,” she tells Us.

Chmerkovskiy added: “And that will make 90 percent of our friends happy!”

Chuck, Julianne and a Big Diamond Ring

Secondly, it appears that Julianne has gotten the lead female role in Footloose. Not exactly surprising news since the buzz has been that she was a shoe-in for the role and the director kept gushing about her, but it’s nice to have a definite yes.

Lastly but certainly not (?) leastly, Chuck and Julianne were spotted last week and Ms. Hough was sporting a sparkler on her all-important finger. The pair were spotted eating at Logan’s Road House in Nashville and Julianne was wearing a big-diamond on her ring finger.

The second rumor about Julianne has been debunked in several articles and entertainment shows. The first rumor, regarding Footloose, appears to be true.

First Marc Malkin said Julianne got the role in Footloose

Sources tell me that Dancing With the Stars hoofer and rising country music singer Julianne Hough is finally in negotiations to star opposite People magazine’s Hottest Bachelor in the upcoming remake of Footloose…

He updated yesterday with this:

Update: Have Julianne Hough supporters been a little too enthusiastic in claiming she’s the Footloose top choice? I’m now being told that while the filmmakers certainly consider her among their favorites, they’re hoping she’ll be able to improve on her acting skills before the cameras start rolling.

DWTS – The Tour

Written by: Princess Heidi

What tour, you ask? Well, there isn’t one this summer. It’s really annoying. I’m experiencing serious DWTS withdrawal, particularly after having gone to one of the tour shows this past winter.  Yeah, I go outside. Yeah, I have cocktails with friends. But still.  Today, for the first time in a while, my filter box search turned up 4 entries on DWTS.  FOUR?!?! Are you kidding me?  Sheesh.

So, to try to cure my withdrawal symptoms, I’ve been posting DWTS tour video in that other place where I spend lots of time – yeah, you’re going to have to live with my Derek-centric videos if you want to watch what I’ve put together (or filmed myself). I can’t help it. That’s how I roll. :-)   Keep checking back here, as I’m not even close to done yet.

On the bright side, I should be able to get some video of Gilles on one of the entertainment shows tomorrow (I think it was ET) – supposedly all about his surgery. And possibly some coverage of Shawn at the Young Hollywood awards. Shawn and Mark are also (reportedly) presenting at the CMT awards next weekend here in Nashville.  I will need to be paid lots of money to actually go down to Music Row to try to catch a glimpse (it’s fan week for country music this week – going downtown will require serious bribes), but the local news should cover more than the networks do – I’ll see what I can catch.  As of right now, I’m also planning on going to the celebrity softball game on Tuesday (?) where Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks are supposed to be playing.  I do have a full time job, so we’ll see.

That’s all I got, for now. ;-)

ET Video with DWTS Pros after Finale

Written by: Princess Heidi

Apparently it’s date night after the Finale! Maks and Karina are double dating with Derek and Shannon (with spare BHB band members tagging along), and Julianne and Chuck get caught by the cameras as well. Julianne confirms once again that she is only taking one season off.

Dancing with the Stars on InFANity

Written by: Princess Heidi

InFANity is a show on the TV Guide channel that I’d never heard of before – but this week they delve into Dancing with the Stars. The video is in five parts, each part covering different aspects of the show. Every part has a lot of clips of dances and interviews, past and present. Stars from every season are interviewed, as are the judges and the hosts. The only people we see, but don’t hear a lot from, are my favorites – The Pros.

Part 1 – About the Show and the Judges

Part 2 – The Stars and The Winners
