Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough on DWTS

Chuck Wicks is paired with Julianne Hough will be on Dancing with the Stars 8. The most star power that could probably exist in a pair. Kind of crazy to think that Julianne might have more star power than Chuck does. However, Chuck at least has more hit songs than Julianne (for now).

I met Chuck at the finale of last season’s Dancing with the Stars and he was one of the most kind and easy to talk to people I’ve met. He’s as down to earth as any star I’ve seen. In fact, it was a nice breathe of fresh air compared to many of the other stars I met. Not that anything was bad or wrong with the stars we met, but Chuck was just relaxed and really put my wife and I at ease. Not sure how this helps him on the show, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Chuck does have faithful country fans. I think country fans are probably the best fan voters out there. Chuck has a slender frame and Julianne should really bring the most out of it. [Country] Fans will also love any “love” songs or sensual songs that can show off Julianne and Chuck’s true feelings for each other. We all want the 2 little love birds to live happily ever after.

Julianne is beautiful, a great choreographer, a bubbly personality, and a star in her own right. There’s no doubt she’s the most popular professional in the list. It’s no wonder why she was on every entertainment show leading up to last season. She’s the media darling and in many ways the image of DWTS. Anyway, she’s definitely a power house on the show and Chuck will really benefit from her expertise and fan power.

I’m predicting a final 3 from Julianne and Chuck. Chuck will have a rough week or two, but in the end will be really polished and the pair will have 2-3 of the most memorable dances in DWTS history.

44th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards Nominations Announcement

Looks like Julianne Hough meant it when she said she wanted to focus more on her music and “that’s where her heart is.” While dancing with boyfriend Chuck Wicks, she’ll be singing at a whole bunch of tour stops along the way. My only disappointment is that she won’t be performing in her home town of Las Vegas (at least partially her home town).

Quick Hitting Dancing with the Stars News, Interviews and Rumors

Looks like I was right about my prediction that Mark Ballas Jr will be with Shawn Johnson. Check out these pictures of Mark and Shawn at their first Dancing with the Stars practice:

Maks also talked about Shawn Johnson being on the show along with pleading the fifth about Julianne Hough paired with Chuck Wicks:

TVGuide.com: What sort of unique challenges face Shawn Johnson, who is just 4-foot-10?
Chmerkovskiy: I actually think her main challenge is that she’s so young [age 17] in a big girl’s world, so to speak. Her challenge will be to spice things up if the judges say that she’s too quiet and calm. But we all saw her at the Olympics — she’s amazing and focused and determined. A very hard worker.

TVGuide.com: She could break into a tumbling pass in the middle of a Paso Doble!
Chmerkovskiy: Oh, she could do a cha-cha on her hands! We’re kind of guessing that she’ll be paired up with Mark [Ballas], and he’s crazy with the [choreography].

TVGuide.com: Some are speculating that dancing as a team could be tough on Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks, her country singer-boyfriend. But I think if DWTS has shown us anything, it’s that it cultivates romance. They could come out of this stronger.
Chmerkovskiy: I don’t want to start the season with a usual Maks rant, so I’m going to plead the fifth on that pairing!

Maks is great. Probably the best interview on the show. Anyone have a connection with Maks? I’d love to interview him for this blog.

Maks told People these 2 little nuggets:

“Planning the proposal was the most nerve-wracking thing of my life,” Chmerkovskiy, 29, tells People magazine.

The couple plans to wed in late 2009 and Chmerkovskiy said the they definitely are looking forward to starting a family. “Our kids would be rock stars,” he told People. “They’re going to be like royalty.”

Finally, check out this short video from the Dancing with the Stars tour finale in Philly. Derek (and other dancers) pulls a lucky fan out of the crowd for a little spin spin and dip on the dance floor.

DWTS 2009 Couples Update

I previously posted my mostly sarcastic (and hopefully funny) Dancing with the Stars 2009 couples suggestions. It looks like only 2 of the couples have officially been announced. GMA had Denise Richards on the show this morning and introduced her to her partner Maks. It was kind of fun to see Denise see her partner for the first time. It was also funny that Denise and her house/family have affectionately named Maks, Maksy Pooh. This looks like it could be fun. She seems like the exact opposite of hard core Maks. I can’t wait for their first confrontation.

The second couple People announced was Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough. Imagine that!

Ok, so Chuck and Julianne being together isn’t a surprise at all. Should be interesting to watch. My wife and I went to the finale of the last season of Dancing with the Stars (thanks Julianne’s mom) and we had a chance to meet Chuck and Julianne backstage. It was cute to see their young love. We also were able to chat for a second with Chuck Wicks and he was super laid back and nice. We’ll definitely be cheering for them both.

Here’s the picture we took at last year’s finale with Chuck Wicks. Let’s hope he’s at the finale of next year holding up the mirror ball trophy.

An ABC spokesperson says the remaining professional dancer/celebrity pairings will be announced on Thursday, February 12.

Dancing with the Stars eighth season premieres March 9 on ABC.

Dancing with the Stars 2009 Couples Suggestions

Tonight, they announced the official Dancing with the Stars cast. They still haven’t announced the couples that will be dancing on Dancing with the Stars 2009. Until we hear the official announcement of couples, here’s my take on who might be good partners for the stars on Dancing with the Stars 2009. To make things simple, I just used the professionals from last season even though I’m pretty sure that at least a couple of the professional dancers will be different this season as well.

Chuck Wicks and Lacey Schwimmer just because just think how jealous Julianne would be if this happens. Actually I’ll be surprised if Chuck dances with anyone other than Julianne Hough. I know if I were Julianne I wouldn’t let Chuck dance on the show without me. However, that pick was too easy so I took Lacey to replace Julianne.

Denise Richards and Alec Mazo because Alec always seems to get really attractive stars for his partners. I wonder if that’s just to make Edyta jealous.

Gilles Marini and Inna Brayer because people barely know Gilles Marini and they barely know Inna Brayer. Sounds like a perfect match for failure to me.

Lawrence Taylor and Karina Smirnoff because she deserves to be with a popular football player. Too bad Lawrence Taylor isn’t really all that popular and is way past his prime. He’s definitely not Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice or Jason Taylor. Too bad Karina, another year of not doing very well.

Lil’ Kim and Corky Ballas just because it would be the funniest looking couple. Actually, I’m guessing Corky won’t be back for this season, but just imagine him and Lil’ Kim together and you’ll realize that Dancing with the Stars is actually a comedy.

Nancy O’Dell and Maks Chmerkovskiy because they would just make the best couple. 2 beautiful and tall dancers would be great to watch.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas Jr. since Shawn is really short and Mark is probably the shortest professional dancer.

Steve-O and Edyta Sliwinska because Edyta always loves to make the oddest faces when her partners do something weird. Just wait to see her reactions after being around Steve-O.

Steve Wozniak and Kym Johnson because Kym always gets screwed by having a partner that can’t dance. Plus, just having Woz and Kym together would make nerds all over the world proud to be a nerd.

Belinda Carlisle and Tony Dovolani because Tony always seems to get stuck with the old ladies. Not that Belinda’s that old, but this group is relatively young.

David Alan Grier and Cheryl Burke because David is likely to come up with something like “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” and Cheryl will wonder how she went from winning so many mirror ball trophies to this. Plus, the producers won’t want Cheryl to win too many times and so this would pretty much guarantee she won’t.

Ty Murray and Julianne Hough since Ty seems to like country singers.

Jewel and Derek Hough because 2 beautiful blonds provide an interesting story. Blonds might be stupid, but I’m guessing that Derek and Jewel would prove that blonds can dance!

As you can tell, this was a real scientific method for selecting the possibly Dancing with the Stars season 8 couples.

Dancing with the Stars Season 8 Cast Announced
