Pure DWTS 2011 – Derek Hough Starts Filming Cobu 3D This Week

Hey Derek Hough fans, just a quick update to let you know Derek begins the filming of Cobu 3D this upcoming week. In honor of the event Heidi and friends have put a super cool update detailing the event, the movie, the cast, what the title of the movie means, and more. Be sure to check it out if interested at Pure Derek Hough here. Below is a picture of Derek, BoA, and some of their castmates for what BoA recently tweeted. They look like they are having fun, don’t they?!

DWTS Season 12, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…When?

Ah, time for the Team Dancings once again. 🙂 I usually like the team dances…we’ll see if this season holds up for me.

Also, once again, we have a random assemblage of dances which I assume is due to the stupid-ass theme weeks they keep foisting on us. This week it’s “Ballroom Greats” or some such thing. Hey, here’s an idea!! How about we have a week (or several) where you give the couples actual songs that go with the actual dances – and then everyone dances. Preferably one of two dances on a given night. How’s that for a “theme”?? :::rolls eyes::: We should be so lucky. I think once they start down the road to stupid, it’s hard to do a U Turn.

Anyway…who’s dancing what?? Oh, and I’d like to thank Louis Van Amstel for his big mouth and sharing “Team Ham” with us. 🙂

Ralph and Karina – Quickstep
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.08

Kenda and Louis – Tango
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.07

Chelsea and Mark – Paso Doble
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.01

Kirstie and Maks – Jive
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.11

Kirstie and Maks had fun up on stage at the Prince concert last night:

Romeo and Chelsie – Samba
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.05

Chelsie with her family after rehearsal yesterday:

Hines and Kym – Tango
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.03

For some reason, Louis called his Cha Cha team Team HAM. Why this makes sense, since the team consists of Hines/Kym, Kendra/Louis and Kirstie/Maks, I don’t know. Someone want to clue me in? 🙂

That leaves the other team consisting of Ralph/Karina, Chelsea/Mark and Romeo/Chelsie. Well. I dunno, based on choreography, I have to go with Team Ham – and I’d be okay with that, if we could switch Ralph with Kendra. 🙂 Based on past team performances, I just think that Maks, Kym and Louis have the edge, even if they don’t have the “best” partners, other than Hines. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the judges are feeling this week and if they’re smoking high grade stuff or not. 🙂

As for the individual dances? I think Romeo and Hines are probably in good shape. Chelsea and Ralph probably are also, although more Ralph than Chelsea. I have a hard time seeing smiley Chelsea in the the passionate Paso. Kirstie and Kendra? Oh dear. For different reasons. I know it’s very hard to remember that Kirstie Alley is 60 years old, but 60 she is – and the Jive is hard. Kirstie is way older than me and I don’t know if *I* could do the Jive for 90 seconds. I’m hoping that several weeks of dancing has increased her stamina. As for Kendra – well, she’s a wild card at this point, but I think it’s safe to say that she better pull it off or she could be in trouble. But a Tango? Man…can’t see this one either.

There weren’t many (any?) pictures of the couples competing this week, so I’m doing a little update on those no longer on the show…for one reason or another. 🙂 Derek had fun at the UFC Fights in Toronto with some of his gang from Cobu 3D, including Allison Holker from SYTYCD and Napoleon of Napoleon and Tabitha who are two of the apparently several choreographers on the movie.

And I couldn’t resist this picture of Julianne and her babies in Miami for filming “Rock of Ages”:

Anna and Jonathan at the Race to Erase MS event the other night. Anna commented that they looked like they were at prom. 🙂

WOW – she looks AMAZING.

And you all recognize this lovely lady – Edyta Slwinska with the Willmington Baseball team’s Mascot; Edyta threw out the first pitch, apparently.

Guess which dancing family this little one belongs to. It’s all in the eyes… 🙂

DWTS – Derek Hough Doesn’t Want His Fellow Dancing Costars To Get Too Comfortable In His Absense

People.com interviewed Derek this week. Derek promises that he’s coming back to the show and with “new tricks” to boot. Not only that, Derek teases his fellow dancers not wanting them to get too comfortable in his absense. Already, I’m noticing some people at twitter taking the line to Maks below wrong saying Derek is being “rude”. Well, in my opinion, anyone that knows Derek (INCLUDING MAKS!), knows he is just funning around. (Heidi’s Comment: Well, some of Maks’ fans are notorious for completely lacking a sense of humor, so no surprise there. 🙂 After some of the swipes that Maks has taken in the past, I say SCORE, Derek!! Ha!)

“I’m learning so much,” he recently told PEOPLE in Las Vegas. “I’ve been teaching so long and it’s interesting because now I’m like the student. The role I’m playing required me to do things I haven’t done before. I’m doing a lot of tapping, which is interesting because I’m not much of a tapper.”

Hough doesn’t want any of his former (and future) costars to get too comfortable in his absence, but he’s having a good time razzing his fellow dancers.

Hough said: “I told [Maksim Chmerkovskiy], ‘Here you go buddy, now that I’m gone you can have this one.’

More at People.com. Also, don’t miss visiting Pure Derek Hough as well because Heidi has some super cool new pictures (like the one above) and videos of Derek at the “Sucker Punch” premiere this week.

DWTS Season 12 – PRO WATCH!!

IT’S ALMOST TIME!!!!!  🙂

Well, it’s about that time again, folks, and even though we are having a Hough-less season I find myself very excited to start this all over again!! Last season was rough there at the end and I’m looking forward to a fresh start – the time off (mostly) did me good. 🙂 So where are we on the pros?? Well, the only thing certain right now is Derek is out. Most of the remaining pros appear to be assembling in LA, including Damian and Peta – although I’m not sure where Maks and Tony are. But do they really need to be in LA to find out?

Check back here often – we will update this post as we go. With my luck stuff will happen when I’m unavailable. But maybe Courtney and John can update if they don’t see me do something rather quickly and can’t get me online. Here’s the list we’re starting with – I’ve intentionally left out Alec and Edyta based on their tweets, but let us know if I’ve neglected anyone.

The Men

Derek – Out for Season 12; filming Cobu 3D
Maks – ??
Mark – Per @BewitchBallas,  his Management says end of next week he finds out.
Louis – IN (see below)
Tony – IN – per Disney News and the tweet shown below
Damian – ??
Dmitry – ??
Jonathan – ??
Corky – ??

The Women

Cheryl –IN (changed from tentative to “fer sure” per Cheryl’s Facebook)
Anna T. – ??
Lacey – IN (?? see below)**
Chelsie – IN (? See Video Posted by Vogue)
Karina – ??
Kym – ??
Anna D. – ??
Ashly – ??
Peta Murgatroyd* – ??
Julianne* – ??

*I included Peta and Julianne with the women mainly due to some internet blather about Jules and lots of clues about a potential Peta appearance as a full time pro (really, will the producers be able to resist a new “couple”??).

Lacey tweeted a comment not too long ago to Derek saying something like “I’m excited to be your dance class buddy”  – people took this several different ways. Some thinking it meant she was out for the season and working her Dad’s studio, and Derek was participating in some way. I took it to mean that Derek was taking lessons related to his movie, and she and/or her dad was somehow involved. It could be both, I suppose, but Lacey has been abnormally quiet on the subject of DWTS and I can usually rely on her to blab. 🙂 Times like this I actually LOVE that about her.   But if I find out she has a part in Derek’s movie, I may go postal. 🙂  You’ve been warned.

Cheryl and Mark fully intend to be on this season and are waiting to find out if they are or not. I think some questioned whether they would be around based on Cheryl’s book tour and Mark’s music related activities.  Louis also wants to be on the show pretty badly, based on his excitement over finding out. The rest, as far as I can tell, have been pretty mum on the subject.  TALK, PEOPLE!! 🙂

ETA:  Think Lacey is in??

ETA 2: How about Louis?? I’ve updated the tweet I had with the one below – when someone tweeted asking if that meant he was on DWTS for sure, he responded with only a wink. 🙂

[blackbirdpie url=”http://twitter.com/#!/LouisVanAmstel/status/39406702977757184″]

ETA 3: Tony doesn’t usually say, as I recall, but I’ll take his smile here as a yes.

DWTS – Derek Lands A Movie Role & More Media On Tony, Maks, Cheryl, And Mark!

Let’s get right to it. Our top news story of the Day via Allkpop and Pure Derek Hough: Derek has landed a role in a new dancing movie called “Cobu 3D”. He will be starring with South Korean singer BoA. Here are some details…

BoA will be starring alongside Derek Hough, the champion of America’s hit reality show, ”Dancing with the Stars“. The two stars play the role of dancers who grew up in vastly different environments, and so they knock heads when they first meet at an underground New York club. Although they start off as fierce rivals, they eventually fall into a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ type of love.

Duane Adler (who’s known for his work with “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up“) will be directing the film, and it’s being co-produced by Robert Cort, CJ Entertainment, and SM Entertainment.

“COBU 3D” aims to escape from the standard dance movies that focus on battles instead of delivering a solid storyline. The film will shed light on a beautiful love story, as well as spotlighting a variety of dance styles including tap, hip hop, and swing.

The movie is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and CJ Entertainment will be distributing it in Korea, China, and Japan. Lionsgate International will be the international sales agent, and they’re planning to begin pre-sales at the Berlin International Film Festival this February.

UPDATE (thanks to Lisa G and Heidi):: Sadly this means, Derek Hough won’t be returning for Season 12 on Dancing With The Stars. Conrad Green, executive producer for DWTS, has made this statement to Access Hollyood.

“Dancing” executive producer Conrad Green told Access they expect Derek to return to the ballroom later this year.

“We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall,” Conrad said in a statement to Access.

BoA is pictured below in case some of you may not know who she is. More on her and her career at this link.

This is going to be fun especially for us dance movie freaks! Congradulations Derek! You can see him on the set working in this tweet.

Tony has landed a fun role in a new episode of “Are We There Yet” too. Jason Palmer tweeted a picture of the two which you can see below.

Wow, to our pros this year. They’ve had big off seasons. Same with Maks who as you know is currently filming The Bachelor in the Ukraine. Special thanks to a resident and native of Russia named Marina (via tweeters @ScibblerNY and @FLLottodreamer), we have a full English translation of Maks’ new interview from the Ukraine that we reported to you earlier. You can read it in full >>>HERE. I thought this quote was interesting. I’m dying to know, how this will effect his role on DWTS,…that is if there is one this Season?

Q: As far as I know, the indispensable condition for you is to marry after the project…

MC: No! The main thing, I need to propose: all comes to an end with a betrothal (engagement)… Whether there will be a real wedding depends on me. It happens, people change/disagree. Perhaps when I learn more about this girl, she will change, be another person. Or me. But I wouldn’t want that to happen. My decision is serious. You know, I love clever, intellectual women. It is not interesting to me to only communicate on topics of shoes, socks and glasses. Nice to talk about politics, sports, art… Then the relationship will be comfortable.

Q: Is there a marriage contract to sign?

MC: Yes, I gather. But I wouldn’t want to disclose these legal details.

Not only has Cheryl revealed how much being molested hurt her, she also has revealed how hurt she was when a tabloid published photos of her looking heavier. Here is a take from People. Be sure to pick up the new issue which hits new stands today if you’d like to read more.

Secretly, however, the two-time Dancing champ, 26, was devastated, and tried everything from nearly starving herself (“Couldn’t do it,” she says) to diet pills (“Nasty – I felt anxious and shaky).”

Ultimately, the weight came off gradually, thanks to her rigorous dance schedule and a focus on eating plenty of vegetables, avoiding preservatives, and allowing for occasional splurges.

“I love carbs and I love chips,” she says. “I’m not going to deprive myself – but instead of eating potato chips I’ll eat Triscuits or low-fat Cheez-Its.”

Lastly, we have a couple of interviews to share with Mark promoting his new album “HurtLoveBox”. The interview below was taken after his concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington D.C..

From MartinGuitar, Mark discusses his musical influences, the new album, and Chelsie. Much more at the link.

Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences?
MB: I have a wide range. Growing up, there was a lot of flamenco played in my house. I love Paco de Lucía and the Gypsy Kings. So it was that kind of stuff. I’m a huge Eric Clapton fan. I think today—nowadays—I would say that John Mayer is kind of someone I really look up to, and I love his music. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well… Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, so yeah, all those kind of guys.

When you first started performing, did you play a lot of cover songs, or has it always been an original thing for you?
MB: I think my first gig, I remember, was at a place called the Rugby Club in Guildford, England, and we played about half and half. It was about half our own songs and then we did some covers as well. So usually, the set was about six originals and six covers as well.

Have a sweet weekend All!! More soon! 😉 xxx
