DWTS Media Mentions On Derek Hough, Maria Menounos, and Gavin DeGraw (Photos)

Bella NYC has named Dancing With The Stars pro Derek Hough as one of their sexiest men of 2012. They write how Derek’s “grounded sense of self and unwavering passion” and “thoughtful, deliberate, and somewhat soft-spoken” qualitites landed him in their list of most sexy. In a new interview with Derek with them, he describes what “beauty” is to him in a woman. He also dishes a little on his new movie and his new love for the Argentine Tango and why. More in some takes below. You can read more at Bella NYC.

His definition of beauty: Talent, ambition and character. “Oh, and humor,” he adds. “Someone who is talented, funny, ambitious and overall very comfortable in their own skin and self, and happy with who they are, is very beautiful to me.”

Hough, who’s starring in a new movie “Cobu” due out this fall, says he was born to entertain. “I’ve always been interested in many art forms. I was just watching some old home videos that my dad pulled out. In one from when I was 5 years old, I was going to town, dancing like nobody’s business. I started dance classes at 10 or 11, but had been dancing all my life, just for fun.”

His current favorite dance is the Argentine Tango; one that Hough says is relatively new to him. “Growing up and competing, that dance wasn’t one of ‘my things,’ I wasn’t taught it, I recently had to teach myself. And as of late, I’ve grown to love it. I love dances that are passionate, intense, sexy and dark; I gravitate toward those. I wonder what that says about my character?” (laughs)

Speaking of Derek and dancing, be sure you visit Pure Derek Hough. Heidi has some great new videos of Derek and pics of he and Maria going to practice. She’s also got details on dance partner Maria Menounos’ “After Buzz TV” site where she plans to have a Dancing With The Stars after party every week after the show. Heidi has also started a “Team Menough” t-shirt contest which is always fun! Be sure to take part and/or watch it all go down in the coming days. There are some really talented dance fans out there that amaze!!

Also, below is Maria arriving at LAX yesterday. She and Season 14 Dancing With The Stars opponent, Gavin DeGraw (also pictured below), attended the ‘Escape To Total Rewards’ in New Orleans, Louisiana Friday night. You can see more pictures at Zimbio.

Pure Dancing With The Stars Odds And Ends For Your TGIF, Feb. 10th!!

Hi All!!! I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday!! Stay tuned for John’s announcement of our Brooke Burke Giveaway Contest winners. For now, here are some Dancing With The Stars odds and ends!!

First up, the producers of LIVE! With Kelly must have enjoyed Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba co-hosting with Kelly that they’ve asked her back. According to ABC Media, Carrie Ann will be helping Kelly on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd during LIVE! With Kelly’s “Hawaiian Week”. Lots of things are on tap for this special week in Hawaii including a wedding segment where Derek Hough will make an appearance again teaching the winning couple how to dance. Carson Kressley will also join in to help the couple with their wedding attire on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd. You can read more on the week at ABC Media.

In other TV mentions, Dancing With The Stars pro Mark Ballas will be weighing in on “VH1’s 100 Greatest Women In Music”. The 5-hour special will rank the “biggest of the big” including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston and more. Hours 1 and 2 will air February 13th at 10PM. For more details and other episode times, be sure to visit MarkBallas.com.

Moving on to another dancing pro!!! Have you noticed Lacey Schwimmer’s recent twitter profile picture? It looks like she’s changed her hair to a more darker shade. Well, Rex Features has some close ups of Lacey walking out and about in Los Angeles recently. Her hair is a little different from her new twitter profile picture, but, you can her current look here. What do you think? I’m liking it. I hope she goes with more natural highlights like this (versus something funky) for the show if she’s picked again.

For some more news on Derek Hough, this week he attended a Cold Play concert in Los Angeles. Don’t miss some fun shots of him at Pure Derek Hough. Heidi has also posted some cool new Cobu3D collages. A MUST SEE Derek Hough Fans!! 🙂

Thanks to this news from Evaine, Maks courted his Mom to an Espen Salburg fashion show this week looking gorgeous as ever and happy. See a fun picture of them here.

Last, but, not least, back to Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke. This week Brooke was seen on a beach in Malibu taking shots for a new photo shoot. According to her twitter, she was shooting a summer cover for Prevention Magazine. Below is a picture of her walking in the sand all smiles. You can view more pictures and read more on the shoot at the Daily Mail. Nice, I’m loving this dress!!

Ok, that is all for now. Maybe more later…if you’re good? 😉 xx

Pure DWTS Random Talk On Mel B, Brooke Burke, Corky Ballas, Madonna, And The Super Bowl

Just some random reportings today on things related to dancing and Dancing With The Stars!!

First up, join us in congratulating Spice Girl and Season 5, 2nd place winner Mel B as she has been signed on to co-host the Australian Version of Dancing With The Stars. Below is a take from Adelaide Now with a quote from Mel B confident that she can pull the job off. We wish her much luck!

“To have the opportunity to host Dancing with the Stars is great, as I know exactly what the contestants will be going through,” she said.

“To be honest, I’m just really looking forward to this year. I feel like it’s going to be my Aussie, Sydney year. I also hope to get my (Spice) girls out here.

“Emma (Bunton) and Victoria (Beckham) have new babies. As a group we’ve only been here two days, so we never got to really experience it and I’ve been telling them how fabulous it is out here.”

Speaking of co-hosting, there has been some chatter here, around the internet at various places, and at twitter about Brooke Burke possibly not co-hosting next season’s Dancing With The Stars since she tweeted about some disappointing “crazy Hollywood Industry” news which hit her hard this past week. The tweets lead many to believe it had something to do with her losing her co-hosting job. Well, with two tweets similar to the first tweet below within 8 hours apart yesterday along with Tom Bergeron addressing her as his “partner” in reply, I think it’s safe to say her job is safe?? Then again, who knows? The Hollywood Industry is indeed “crazy”. Look what happened with Steve Jones, Nicole Scherzinger, and Paula Abdul on the X Factor this week. Never did I think they’d be let go in such a fashion and so soon. 😯

Moving on! Give it up to Dancing pro Corky Ballas!! He’s been recently helping Olympic ice skating hopefuls Maia and Alex Shibutani on their choreography since last year’s world championships in which they finished third in just their first season as senior skaters. Below are some takes from ESPN. Be sure to read the link in full as they write about how costume designer Randall Christensen helped them with their costumes as well.

The Shibutani siblings got in touch with Corky Ballas through their agent, using the Yamaguchi connection, and headed to Los Angeles to begin working with him after the worlds last summer.

“But we are the first skaters he’s worked with in a while,” Alex, 20, said. “Obviously with his background, his son, Mark, and Derek and Julianne, we were honored to work with him. He’s such a fun guy to work with. It was an intensive boot camp-style Latin training with him. He’s kept up with our performances. He thought we could use a breath of fresh air.”

The coaches had high praise for the Shibutanis’ performance.

“It was awesome, awesome,” Zueva said. “All the changes worked really well. Most Latin dance movement is very sharp off ice, but it totally disappears on the floor because the surface is different. [Ballas] found them the best movement on ice.”

They worked with Ballas again in Detroit after the ISU Grand Prix Final, where they finished fifth. Alex said they have gotten “really comfortable” with the Latin style, a break from their usual, more classical style.

“The new program is much more exciting and a much stronger vehicle for us,” Alex said.

Lastly, if you are a fan to dancing in general and huge dance productions, be sure to tune into the Super Bowl halftime tonight. According to the New York Post, Madonna will be dancing, performing and singing 3 classics: Vogue Vogue - Celebration , Ray Of Light Ray of Light - Ray of Light with Holiday Holiday - Madonna mixed in it, Like A Prayer Like a Prayer - Like a Prayer , and her new, hot single Give Me All Your Luvin Give Me All Your Luvin' (feat. Nicki Minaj, M.I.A.) - Give Me All Your Luvin' (feat. Nicki Minaj, M.I.A.) - Single from her new MDNA album Give Me All Your Luvin' (feat. Nicki Minaj, M.I.A.) - Single - Madonna . I wanted to give this a special mention since number one, I’m a huge fan 🙂 and, number two, Madonna did a Salsa in challenging Dancing With The Stars rumored contender Victor Cruise at a press conference on Thursday, and number three, Nappytabs has been helping with the production of it. As you know they’ve helped with choreography on Dancing With The Stars among many other dancing accomplishments in their career. They are also currently helping Derek Hough with his new movie Cobu3D. Below are some tweets Tabitha shared about rehearsals.

Yes, can you tell I’m excited? 🙂 Be sure to let us know your thoughts and here’s to a fun Super Bowl Holiday!! xxx

UPDATE: According to Madonna website Madonnarama, the Ray of Light and Holiday Mash-up has been replaced by Music(ft. LMFAO – “Party Rock Anthem/Sexy and I Know It” Remix). Also, there will be an
“Open Your Heart/Express Yourself” interlude to transition from Give me all your Luvin’ to Like a Prayer. Madonna has tried to keep the final setlist a secret as long as she could.

DWTS Season 14 Rumor: Derek Hough Signed For Next Season Of Dancing With The Stars??

Robin Leech of the Las Vegas Sun interviewed Derek at the 4th Annual Fighters Only World Mixed Martial Arts this past week. In Robin’s interview, he mentions that Derek told him he signed to do the next season of Dancing With The Stars. Doing some checking with Heidi, we don’t think anyone should accept this new information as an official “confirmation” or as “fact” as of yet since (in the past) signings usually don’t begin this early and a lot of things can happen between now and then. When we find out more, we’ll be sure to let you know. For now, read a take below from the interview. Note how Derek talks about his shoulder injury and a little on his new upcoming movie Cobu3D. The link also has some quotes from Cheryl and a video of her and Derek on the White Carpet as well.

Pro champion Derek, who presented Submission of the Year, told me he’s signed on for the next season of “DTWS” that starts in March. He said that he was injured for the first time this season with a dislocated shoulder. “I still feel that,” he admitted. “I now know how the fighters feel. I admire their dedication and discipline — it’s the same as a dancer. There are a lot of similar techniques between the two sports. There’s a lot of dancing in MMA. … I love going to the bouts. I have hopped over to Vegas to watch many of them because my mom has lived here now for 13 years.”

Derek also cleared up my misunderstanding of his years spent here training at Las Vegas Academy. “No, that was Julianne [Hough, his sister]. She was here. I was 10 years in southeast London, but obviously came here many times for family events.” He’s excited about his debut 3D movie “Cobu” that he’s completed filming and will be released in the spring. Like Julianne in “Footloose,” this features him dancing.

Adding: Be sure to check out Pure Derek Hough. Heidi has posted on Derek’s up coming schedule and another rumor out there.

Derek Hough On Ricki Lake, His Past DWTS Partners, His Family, Cobu3D, and More!

Derek joined the Good Day LA team to talk about Ricki and Dancing With The Stars. He told them Ricki wasn’t a “natural” at dancing as some people assume. If we saw her dance in the first few weeks, we would have thought differently. They ask him on his feud with Maks. Derek jokes how they had a dance battle in a cage. LOL Lots more below! I love how Derek handles the press and some of their questions!

Derek Hough Says He Will Be Back For Dancing With The Stars 13

Derek Hough will be back for Season 13 of Dancing With The Stars! Derek told People.com “I will be back!” Derek also talked about his break away from the show and hopes he can live up to everyone’s expectations. More in a take below and at the link.

While casting for the new Dancing with the Stars season won’t be officially announced until Aug. 29, one person who will definitely be on the show is three-time champ Derek Hough.

“I will be back!” Hough tells PEOPLE. Following his third mirror-ball-winning season with Jennifer Grey last November, Hough took time off in the spring to shoot an independent dance movie Cobu 3D.

The time off gave the 26-year-old a chance to “push myself and introduce me to a career I’d love to do more. It was a fantastic experience.” The time off gave the 26-year-old a chance to “push myself and introduce me to a career I’d love to do more. It was a fantastic experience.”

The break also gave Hough a greater appreciation for the show that made him a fan favorite.

“When we’re doing the show we’re in the bubble and we get into the stress and the drama and all of the behind the scenes stuff,” Hough says. “It was good for me to take a season off and see what he audience sees. It gave me a new boost and inspiration to want to do some great things.”

Also, the new picture above is of Derek at UTA in Beverly Hills, CA.! Is he not gorgeous or what?!!! He reminds me of James Dean. I picked this up at Heidi’s site Pure Derek Hough via Eyeprime.net. You can see another pic and a link to more similar to it at the link. Heidi also has some ‘must read’ articles up on the possibility of seeing Derek getting a role in the “Dirty Dancing” remake. Remember not to believe all the tabloids. They have Derek begging Kenny Ortega for the part as if he’s desperate for the role and more. So, until you read something from a credible source, don’t believe anything. Anyway, be sure to bookmark and frequently check Pure Derek Hough for all things Derek and here’s to seeing Derek on Dancing With The Stars Season 13! 😀

Derek Hough on Dancing With The Stars: “I’ve definitely been speaking with the producers…”

So, the promotion for Derek Hough’s new movie, “Cobu3D”, is in full swing. ET has a great new interview up with he and BoA, his costar. As of right now, shooting for the film has wrapped up in Canada. Derek talks of how different ‘film making’ is from doing Dancing With The Stars or a tv series. He also talks of the possibility of coming back to Dancing With The Stars next Season. Here is what he had to say about it:

“We’ll see what happens,” Derek disclosed. “I’ve definitely been speaking with the producers. I might be going on there and trying some new things.”

I hope he’s going to be back as the show hasn’t been the same without him. Once again, note how three dancers (First Cheryl, then Lacey, and now Derek) have mentioned doing “new things” for the show. You have to truly wonder what’s up with Season 13?

For more on this interview with Derek (with a video included), be sure to see Pure Derek Hough >>>>HERE ! Heidi has all the recent news, photos, and gossip on Derek. In fact, there is a “must see” video with Derek and BoA fooling around on the set too that you can’t miss. Derek is a true natural at acting as he is dancing. BoA is just lovely as well and their connection is just “sweet” to say the least.

(Heidi’s Note: I think when he says “new things”, he’s thinking of pro dances – I hope. I would kill to see one of their numbers from Cobu on a results show. Either way, it’s sounds like all the dancing training he did really pumped the old creative juices.)
