Pittsburgh Steeler and Dancing With The Stars Season 12 Champion Hines Ward Arrested For DUI

This is a hard one to report on, Folks! According to Yahoo News, in the early morning hours today Dancing With The Stars Season 12 champion, Hines Ward, was arrested for a DUI in Georgia. Let’s hope for whatever is going on with Hines personally and if he has a drinking problem, he can can get some help and conquer it. He’s still and will always be a Dancing With The Stars Champ to me and I know a lot of you….and I think he is still a gem of a person. Here is a take from the link. For the rest of the article, you can go to the link.

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff’s officials said.

The former Super Bowl MVP and reigning “Dancing With the Stars” champ was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond.

The sheriff’s office said it had turned over paperwork to the courts and couldn’t release any further information about the player’s arrest.

A Steelers spokesman did not immediately respond to a message, and it was not immediately clear if Ward had an attorney.

Dancing With the Stars Alumni Aaron Carter Claims Michael Jackson Gave Him Drugs (A Rant Post)

Ok, get ready for a rant and maybe you need to do so too? Currently, Aaron Carter, former Dancing With The Stars Season 9 contestant with Karina Smirnoff, is in the news headlines everywhere claiming Michael Jackson gave him drugs and wine when he was 15. But, I’m having a hard time believing this story especially in 2004 Aaron told People he never used drugs? Even if Michael Jackson did give him drugs and wine, why talk about it now and after all of this time? Sorry, but, in my opinion, this is a poor attempt to getting his name and career back in the headlines not to mention dishonoring Michael’s memory which is totally uncool. 😕 Aaron always put me off a little when he was on Dancing With The Stars as well. So curious for your thoughts on this? From USA Today:

“This is the first time. … I miss Michael. … I have spent such incredible times with him. I did things with him that nobody else did.. … But I was also troubled about what he did to me.”

When asked if Jackson gave him wine, Carter said, “Yes, he gave me wine. I mean, I could have refused, but I was 15.”

And, says Carter, “He gave me cocaine. … We spoke afterwards, hours and hours, on the phone. I admired Michael, but his behavior bothered me a lot. Then my mother called the police…”

Back in 2004, Carter’s mother told Access Hollywood about a night Aaron spent unsupervised at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, suggesting that the elder singer gave her son drugs. But Carter told People magazine, “I don’t do drugs. I didn’t do them with Michael Jackson and I don’t do them with anyone else.”

Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, entered rehab in January for seek help for “some emotional and spiritual issues.”

Romeo Miller After Dancing On Dancing With The Stars & More

What’s Romeo Miller aka Lil Romeo been up too since dancing on Dancing With The Stars? Lots!! Black News recently caught up with Romeo to talk about his career and charity work for children. He disses on his Dad and has great messages for young kids again. He explains why he is so commited because of the personal struggles he’s went though. Below are some takes about his Dancing With The Stars journey. Be sure to read the link for more. Great interview with some great questions for him in it!!

KW: What interested you in doing Dancing with the Stars, especially after your father fared so poorly on the program during the 2nd season?
R: I wanted to do this show to show our future generation not to be afraid to fail. More and more kids are dropping out of high school and letting their dreams slip away because of failure. I felt that this show was the perfect opportunity for me to step outside of my comfort zone and take an unknown journey with my fans. I did Dancing with the Stars for the kids and my charity “URBANBORN” [UrbanBorn.org]. And FYI, my dad taught me all of my dance moves. [LOL]

KW: Did you have to get in shape for the show, and how challenging did you find learning the choreography?
R: Coming straight from playing Division 1 Basketball at USC, I was in terrific shape. But after doing the show, I was in even better shape! My vertical jump went from 39 inches to 42 inches, and my cardio and footwork was better then ever. Being a perfectionist, I made the choreography a lot tougher because I wanted every dance to be perfect. I’m a very fast learner, but becoming a ballroom dancer was definitely the most difficult task in my life yet. I definitely respect dancers a whole lot more now.

KW: Tell me a little about the charity you played for.
R:Â People may not know that I’ve gone to regular school through my whole career. Education has always been the rock in my life, and I think that every kid should have the proper education and that experience. School for me has been like the real world in a bubble. Everything about school and education has built me to be the man that I am today, and I wanted to share that with our future. With UrbanBorn.org I do a lot of “Read to Achieve” events and I go to a lot of underprivileged schools to express the importance of education. The kids are the future and I just want to let them know that somebody cares.

KW: What’s more fun, making movies or being a contestant on a reality show?
R: I would definitely have to say making movies! [Laughs some more] Although I loved the Dancing with the Stars journey, I must admit I have never been sooooo nervous in my life. When I’m making movies, I’m a lot more comfortable and relaxed. I feel reality is more fun for the viewers because you get to see the celebrity in a different light. But for me, learning a new dance in a few days to perform in front of 20 million people equals nervous breakdown. [Chuckles]

KW: Editor/Legist Patricia Turnier asks: What message do you think people will take away from Jumping the Broom and what did you learn from appearing on Dancing with the Stars?
R: Jumping the Broom teaches that anything is possible with true love. From Dancing with the Stars, people will learn that in order to succeed you’ll sometimes have to fail and  that, at the end of the day, all that matters is you doing your best. Life has no limits if you just try.

Pittsburgh Holds Rally For Dancing With The Stars 12 Champs Kym Johnson And Hines Ward

Today Hines and Kym brought the Mirror Ball Trophy to Pittsburgh so the city could celebrate their Dancing With The Stars Season 12 victory. Hundreds of fans showed up outside the City-County building at Noon in Pittsburgh while Kym and Hines gave a speech and danced. They had fun with the crowd by holding dance contests and more. Details below along with a fun message from Hines. Go to WTAE to see lots of cool video coverage. Lots of fun photos of the event HERE. These two are so cute and it’s good to see them together again.

Johnson danced and twirled a Terrible Towel on stage, and she helped her partner judge a quick dancing contest with three couples who had posted their own videos on YouTube earlier in the week.

All the finalists got to have their photos taken with Ward, Johnson and the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Ward and Johnson also whipped out their phones and shot some video of the crowd for themselves.

Ward thanked everyone who watched the show and voted for him and Johnson to win. He said they tried to use black and gold colors in their outfits as much as possible because “I just really, really wanted to put the city of Pittsburgh on the map and let everybody know that we are the city of champions.”

He also had a separate message — and some words of advice — for the show’s male viewers.

“I know it took a lot for you guys to watch ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and I apologize if the wives make you take dancing lessons now,” Ward said. “You know what? But do it, because a happy woman is a happy household, so go out there and dance with them.”

And on a side note….check out the new purchase Hines bought for his Mom this past week! Isn’t this cool? He’s so good to her!!

Dancing With The Stars Peta Murgatroyd Covers Pilates Style Magazine July August 2011

Dancing With The Stars Troupe member and choreographer, Peta Murgatroyd, has done some outstanding magazine spreads lately. As reported to you earlier, she did a fabulous, beautiful, and sexy spread for the June issue of Regard Magazine. Now Peta lights up the cover of “Pilates Style” magazine. They also interview her where Peta credits pilates for keeping her injury free while dancing. Peta also dishes on her entire career from the beginning to “Burn The Floor” to dancing on “Dancing With The Stars”. Like all aspiring dancers, the road hasn’t always been an easy one which you read in a take below as well as more at the link!! She also talks of how she’d like to act!!

As a troupe dancer, she isn’t paired with a star; instead, she performs in group dances with the other pros. “Being a troupe dancer, you are given certain songs from an artist who will be guest-starring that week,” she says. Murgatroyd, who’s also a choreographer, often is asked to arrange the dances.

Being a troupe dancer “is a definite stepping stone into becoming a featured dancer [the dancers who are partnered with the stars],” she explains. “They can see how you interact with the audience, how your fan base is growing.”

Besides doing a mat routine on her own everyday, “I probably do classes two times a week at my gym, The Sports Club/LA in Beverly Hills,” she says.

Good core strength is key in ballroom dancing, Murgatroyd says. “Having a partner, you don’t want to rely on them so much. When doing lifts, you have to be able to lift your own weight and not be deadweight for the guy. You have to have your own core and your own strength. I rely on Pilates for breathing a lot as well.”

While dancers and celebrities on the show frequently suffer injuries, Murgatroyd has managed to stay healthy, thanks to Pilates. “I’ve always been taught that prevention is the best cure,” she states.

But she knows from experience how devastating an injury can be. When she was 16, a cumulative ankle injury sidelined her for months—and ended her ballet career. “Over time, I could just feel it was harder to get up onto pointe; the back of my ankle would pinch and that’s when I went to seek treatment,” she says. “I had to have pieces of bone in my ankle removed and the tendons in my toes realigned. It was a massive ankle reconstruction. I had to do rehab therapy and physical therapy. Pilates was one of the things that definitely helped.

“It was absolutely awful,” she recalls. “I didn’t realize how annoying crutches could be. Being so active, having to rely on something to help you walk and get anywhere was beyond frustrating.”

She also couldn’t dance for six months and when she did go back to ballet classes, “it was never the same. My ankle didn’t feel the same as before.”

I love Peta as many of you do. I hope all of her dreams come true which includes letting her be a teacher with the best of them on Dancing With The Stars!!! Will producers hear our pleas?!!

Adding: I just noticed the link from Pilates Style has been taken down. Not sure why. Be sure to pick up the magazine at news stands so you can read the full article.

Pure DWTS – Derek Hough Speaks Out On New Movie Role & DWTS Season 13

I will let these excerpts from People do the talkin’!!

“I’m taking season 12 off,” three-time champ Derek Hough tells PEOPLE. The Dancing pro, 25, will be busy playing the lead role in the upcoming dance movie Cobu 3D, which is slated to film in New York and Toronto this spring.

Hough will play a New Orleans street dancer who moves to New York and falls for an Asian drummer (played by Korean pop recording star BoA). The Romeo and Juliet-style love story (their dance groups are rivals) will be accented by “some incredible dance numbers,” says Hough. “People will see a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I’m capable of doing.”

Hough has already started training for the film by working out in the gym and brushing up on his tap dancing skills. He says he’s put on “about 10 lbs. of muscle” for the film, “which is a lot for me.”

A “more edgier” and “musclier” Derek? Sounds good to me. 😀

And Dancing fans can expect Hough to come back to the ballroom better than ever for season 13.

“I will be making it back to Dancing with the Stars in the fall. I’m just taking a little break and taking this chance to grow and expand a little bit as an artist,” Hough says. “It’s like I told one of the producers on the show – I’ll come back with a whole new set of skills.”

That is such a relief to know he will be back for Season 13 and with a ‘whole new set of skills’. I love how Derek is never afraid to learn more.

For all things Derek even more in depth and this new movie project, be sure to check Pure Derek Hough daily. To pacify us a little for now until this project is released and to see who Derek is working with, here is BoA dancing….

Heidi’s Note: For anyone interested, Cobu is a NYC dance troupe who does a fusion of Taiko Drumming and Funk Tap Dance

DWTS Season 12 Pro Watch! Derek, Maks Out??

Derek is definitely a no-go for Season 12, as Vogue mentioned in her updated post from the other day – and I’ve added video (below) from Access Hollywood to compliment Conrad Greene’s confirmation that he’s taking the season off to film Cobu 3D. As for Maks – I *think* this is still in the rumor stages. It appears from Twitter that a good number of his fans are seriously concerned that he won’t be on this season. Usually, a guy’s fans have their finger on the pulse of what is going on – so is this just fear like Derek fans have had (with good reason it turns out) for the past few seasons? Or is there something to this, maybe because of the Bachelor Ukraine?? Several DWTS watchers say this one is an unknown for the time being. I’ll go with them and say it’s a rumor, for now. I have to say, as much as Maks has the tendency to annoy me, a season sans BOTH Derek and Maks has the potential to be deadly dull. 🙂 So Maks, for me – come back. 🙂

The only other pro chatter I have seen to date, other than that mentioned above, is Louis Van Amstel. Good old Louis – always keeping his fans fully informed of what’s going on with him:

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS – Derek Lands A Movie Role & More Media On Tony, Maks, Cheryl, And Mark!

Let’s get right to it. Our top news story of the Day via Allkpop and Pure Derek Hough: Derek has landed a role in a new dancing movie called “Cobu 3D”. He will be starring with South Korean singer BoA. Here are some details…

BoA will be starring alongside Derek Hough, the champion of America’s hit reality show, ”Dancing with the Stars“. The two stars play the role of dancers who grew up in vastly different environments, and so they knock heads when they first meet at an underground New York club. Although they start off as fierce rivals, they eventually fall into a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ type of love.

Duane Adler (who’s known for his work with “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up“) will be directing the film, and it’s being co-produced by Robert Cort, CJ Entertainment, and SM Entertainment.

“COBU 3D” aims to escape from the standard dance movies that focus on battles instead of delivering a solid storyline. The film will shed light on a beautiful love story, as well as spotlighting a variety of dance styles including tap, hip hop, and swing.

The movie is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and CJ Entertainment will be distributing it in Korea, China, and Japan. Lionsgate International will be the international sales agent, and they’re planning to begin pre-sales at the Berlin International Film Festival this February.

UPDATE (thanks to Lisa G and Heidi):: Sadly this means, Derek Hough won’t be returning for Season 12 on Dancing With The Stars. Conrad Green, executive producer for DWTS, has made this statement to Access Hollyood.

“Dancing” executive producer Conrad Green told Access they expect Derek to return to the ballroom later this year.

“We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall,” Conrad said in a statement to Access.

BoA is pictured below in case some of you may not know who she is. More on her and her career at this link.

This is going to be fun especially for us dance movie freaks! Congradulations Derek! You can see him on the set working in this tweet.

Tony has landed a fun role in a new episode of “Are We There Yet” too. Jason Palmer tweeted a picture of the two which you can see below.

Wow, to our pros this year. They’ve had big off seasons. Same with Maks who as you know is currently filming The Bachelor in the Ukraine. Special thanks to a resident and native of Russia named Marina (via tweeters @ScibblerNY and @FLLottodreamer), we have a full English translation of Maks’ new interview from the Ukraine that we reported to you earlier. You can read it in full >>>HERE. I thought this quote was interesting. I’m dying to know, how this will effect his role on DWTS,…that is if there is one this Season?

Q: As far as I know, the indispensable condition for you is to marry after the project…

MC: No! The main thing, I need to propose: all comes to an end with a betrothal (engagement)… Whether there will be a real wedding depends on me. It happens, people change/disagree. Perhaps when I learn more about this girl, she will change, be another person. Or me. But I wouldn’t want that to happen. My decision is serious. You know, I love clever, intellectual women. It is not interesting to me to only communicate on topics of shoes, socks and glasses. Nice to talk about politics, sports, art… Then the relationship will be comfortable.

Q: Is there a marriage contract to sign?

MC: Yes, I gather. But I wouldn’t want to disclose these legal details.

Not only has Cheryl revealed how much being molested hurt her, she also has revealed how hurt she was when a tabloid published photos of her looking heavier. Here is a take from People. Be sure to pick up the new issue which hits new stands today if you’d like to read more.

Secretly, however, the two-time Dancing champ, 26, was devastated, and tried everything from nearly starving herself (“Couldn’t do it,” she says) to diet pills (“Nasty – I felt anxious and shaky).”

Ultimately, the weight came off gradually, thanks to her rigorous dance schedule and a focus on eating plenty of vegetables, avoiding preservatives, and allowing for occasional splurges.

“I love carbs and I love chips,” she says. “I’m not going to deprive myself – but instead of eating potato chips I’ll eat Triscuits or low-fat Cheez-Its.”

Lastly, we have a couple of interviews to share with Mark promoting his new album “HurtLoveBox”. The interview below was taken after his concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington D.C..

From MartinGuitar, Mark discusses his musical influences, the new album, and Chelsie. Much more at the link.

Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences?
MB: I have a wide range. Growing up, there was a lot of flamenco played in my house. I love Paco de Lucía and the Gypsy Kings. So it was that kind of stuff. I’m a huge Eric Clapton fan. I think today—nowadays—I would say that John Mayer is kind of someone I really look up to, and I love his music. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well… Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, so yeah, all those kind of guys.

When you first started performing, did you play a lot of cover songs, or has it always been an original thing for you?
MB: I think my first gig, I remember, was at a place called the Rugby Club in Guildford, England, and we played about half and half. It was about half our own songs and then we did some covers as well. So usually, the set was about six originals and six covers as well.

Have a sweet weekend All!! More soon! 😉 xxx
