PureDWTS Exclusive: New Interview With Sharna Burgess, Special Message To Fans, And Lots More

We thought it was high time to catch up with Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess!! In a new exclusive interview below, Sharna chats with us about Dancing With The Stars Season 19. She answers fun questions on choreographing, whether Dancing With The Stars is neglecting ballroom styles, and the Dancing With The Stars Season 10th Anniversary coming up (but, her lips are completely sealed 🙂 ). We also ask Sharna about her and Derek Hough’s routine for Goldie Hawn’s Inaugural “Love In For Kids” Benefit that took place a few weeks ago. She also chats with us about her upcoming projects including “Shall We Dance On Ice December 16th, “Sway“, and Dancing With The Stars At Sea. Also included is a special message to her fans. Lots lots more below. We thank her so much for taking time out of her busy schedule for us. Enjoy…

Vogue: Hello Miss Sharna! How are you? It’s so cool to visit with you again! I hope you are well and you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi love!!! Great to chat with you again! My thanksgiving was filled with lots of love and too much food… Exactly the way it should be

So, how are you feeling overall about Dancing With The Stars Season 19? Was it everything you expected? I thought it was a fantastic season. My only complaint is there weren’t enough Pro Numbers during the middle part of the season, but, for what we did see, they were fantastic thanks to your choreography.:) So, if you were to name your favorite pro number from this past season, which would it be and why?

Season 19 was a fantastic!! So much creativity from so many pros. I loved Derek’s salsa, paso and of course his freestyle. Mark and Sadie I loved nearly every dance, he was soooo on point this season with her!! And Val truly took his creative concepts and vision to another level this season, it wasn’t always about steps, it was about telling a story… And we all know that’s my favorite thing in the world!! And of course… We finally had a male celeb win since Peta and Donald Driver!!! Yay girl power and Witney certainly was the girl for the job… What a team!

SharnaBurgess1

There really wasn’t enough pro numbers this season, (and yay thank you for the love) being out so early this season I really missed not having more to do or create. I am super proud of the group numbers I created this season, but honestly my favorite Read more..

Will Allison Holker Be back For Dancing With The Stars Season 20?

And the fun continues! Happy Thanksgiving, All!!!

For starters today, Allison Holker has written a new blog at In Touch Weekly. She reflects back on the finale and her first season of Dancing With The Stars. The interesting part is that I think she will be back for Season 20 (yay! Love love love her!). Read on…

It’s such a surreal feeling to stand out on the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ dance floor with so many watching — so last night just moments before the show started, I stood on that dance floor and closed my eyes and just listened to the audience screaming and cheering for the show and everything that it brings — which is happiness, hope, and a chance to do something you didn’t think you could do. “DWTS” brings joy and entertainment right into people’s homes, and I am honored to be a part.

‎Thank you to everyone in the “DWTS” family. You’re truly the best. Season 19 was perfect, and I’m proud of all the work we put out, and congrats to Alfonso and Witney on winning the mirror ball trophy!

What’s next? Well, next season is “DWTS” 10th anniversary! And that will be a celebration you won’t want to miss. See you soon.

More at In Touch Weekly including some pictures of her and tWitch.

Rob Wade Talks On Who Is Staying And Who Is Leaving Dancing With The Stars, More Finale Interviews

There has been much speculation about Cheryl Burke and whether she will be back on the next season of Dancing With The Stars. According to Executive Producer Rob Wade, she’s decided to exit the show. Tuesday night was her last night. Below is more from The Wrap. Note that he also says Len Goodman and Julianne Hough will be returning to judge full time next season.

ETA: You can read more with Rob Wade at this link. He talks about ratings, his vision for the 10th anniversary, and more.

Wade feels that the popular pro’s exit gives the series a chance to highlight other dancers.

“We’ll only survive as a show if we keep innovating and changing. It’s very sad to see cast members leave, but again that gives you the opportunity to grow. So, I’m quite positive about having the opportunity to bring new people in or bring back some of the old faces.”

Additionally, head judge Len Goodman, who took a several weeks off this past season due to conflicts with shooting the show’s U.K. version, will be back full-time on Season 20. And although there’s some scheduling conflicts still to be resolved, Julianne Hough is also contracted to return in the spring to the judges’ table.

“A judging panel isn’t about individuals. It’s about chemistry. That has happened remarkably quickly for Julianne in that role,” Wade said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

“I think the ballroom experience and the dance experience and the star quality and vibrancy that Julianne has brought to the panel has been exceptional,” he continued. “I also think that the way that Carrie Ann [Inaba], Bruno [Tonioli] and Len have embraced her and have individually been so great this season, as well, has been wonderful. I think it shows their character that they can do that. The three of them have been absolutely wonderful in welcoming Julianne in and I think it has been lovely to watch.”

Sad, I’m going to miss Cheryl. I hope she changes her mind…especially for my Dad’s sake. For the full article, see The Wrap. Thanks to Lisa for the heads up on this news. Below are some interviews with The Wrap from last night as well….

DWTS Alfonso Ribeiro May Have To Pull Out Of The Competition

This is sad! Let’s hope Alfonso is going to be ok! From TMZ….

Our DWTS sources say Ribeiro injured his back during rehearsal Wednesday night as he tried to overcompensate for a groin injury which he suffered on the show, performing his signature move.

The back injury is bad — he’s having trouble even walking. Alfonso skipped rehearsals Thursday so he could get an MRI.

Doctors are telling him the next 48 hours are critical, but they say there’s a real chance he can’t dance.

Make A Last Minute Dancing With The Stars Season 19 Pro Wish List

The professional dancers might be starting their negotiations (or have already according to some speculation on twitter) for Dancing With The Stars Season 19. Back in June, you made your Pro Wish List, but, I thought it might be fun to do them again just in case you’ve changed your mind some (like I have). So, with that said and the new season approaching soon, what are your last minute pro wishes for Dancing With the Stars Season 19? Pick only 12 (6 males and 6 females). You can name some alternatives if you like too. Let us know in comments!

Here is my last minute Pro Wish List:

Females: Sharna Burgess, Karina Smirnoff, Elena Samodanova, Cheryl Burke, Witney Carson, Peta Murgatroyd

Males: Derek Hough, Gleb Savchenko, Mark Ballas, Val Chmerkovksiy, Armen Way, Henry Byalikov

Alternates: Nika Kljun and Allison Holker. I love Tristan MacManus too, but, I know he can’t dance in the US version of Dancing With the Stars because he will be dancing in the UK instead this season.

Olympic Equestrian Rider And Coach Jane Savoie Wants To Dance On Dancing With The Stars

Normally, we don’t really post a lot on celebrity campaigns, but, this lady sounds different and kind of interesting. According to the Equestrian Chronicle, Olympic equestrian rider and coach Jane Savoie wants to dance on Dancing With The Stars. Be sure to read how she came up with the idea to dance and why at Equestrian Chronicle. Below is a take for her message….

Savoie said she thinks it’s important for people to see that just because they’ve received their Medicare cards doesn’t mean that there’s not room for plenty more adventure in their lives, especially adventures as physically demanding as dancing.

She said that ballroom dancing isn’t all glittery sequins.

“There are hours and hours of sweaty practice behind the scenes,” she said.

“I started at 63. I’m 65 now,” she said. ”I think it’s encouraging for people that are in my age group who maybe have stopped dreaming to realize that there’s no expiration date on having a dream and going for it and staying fit and staying vibrant. I personally think it’s very encouraging when I see middle-aged and senior athletes just doing their things.”

Now that Savoie has sweated, practiced and competed, it’s time to impress the producers of “Dancing With the Stars.”

“They need to know that there is enough of a fan base within the horse industry because they’re not going to put someone on the show who doesn’t have a good following,” Savoie said. “I need people to like my Jane Savoie Dancing With the Stars Facebook page and share it with everyone.”

So, what do you think? Jane Savoie to dance? I say yes!!

ABC Officially Renews Dancing With The Stars For 19th Season

Yay, it’s official!! Dancing With The Stars has been renewed for another season!! Below is a take from the Hollywood Reporter.

ABC continued its wave of renewals Friday morning, officially announcing the pickup for The Middle and picking up its flagship reality competition series Dancing With the Stars for a 19th season.

Adopting a once-weekly format during the 2013-14 season, Dancing With the Stars’ ratings losses are still apparent — but have slowed. The two-hour Monday offering is averaging a solid 2.5 rating among adult 18-49 during its current cycle and has made efforts to freshen up the live telecast by bringing on alum Erin Andrews as Tom Bergeron’s new co-host and playing with voting.
