DWTS Season 25: Rumors or Wishful Thinking? Gina Rodriguez and Michael Delorenzo

In the absence of ANYTHING concrete (yet), I was roaming around twitter looking for clues about celebs for next season of Dancing with the Stars. Looks like Michael Delorenzo would be up for it if they asked – check out his feed, as he’s talking about it a lot and using some interesting emoticons. 😉 I’m quite sure you’ll recognize him as a character actor from Blue Bloods, CSI Miami, and other things. Long resume.

Secondly, thanks to Dee for the heads up that Gina Rodriguez is now following Sasha Farber! Guess who Gina is friends with? Derek Hough…the dude who said he knew someone that was going to be on this season. 🙂 I questioned Dee relentlessly since Sasha is way down on Gina’s follow list if you look on the actual twitter, however she says that Sasha was Gina’s most recent follow on the app she uses. Not sure how Twitter sorts all that stuff. Anyway, just in case – plus, it appears that Derek and Sasha are the only two DWTS folks she follows. I could be wrong since I can only go down so far in her list right now. I think she would be great and would give Sasha a real shot at the MBT, if she is on.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Carrie Ann Inaba Chats On Pet Health, Cats, And The Best Routines On DWTS

Parade interviewed Dancing With The Stars Carrie Ann Inaba on the best routines and more on Dancing With The Stars. She also chats on her cats and the importance of pet health.

Tell us a little bit about your fur babies.

They make life amazing! I have three cats. Mimi is my oldest, she’s about 12 years old. She’s a rescue, and she’s a black cat. We call her Mimi Vader because she’s got some chronic health conditions, so she snorts when she breathes. There’s Reb, who is just over a year now. He was a feral kitty, and he’s shy around people, so he requires a little bit more care. I spent the first three months making sure I spent quality time with him every day. Now he loves to be petted, and he’s the most social cat. Then, we have Sophie, who’s the kitten. She’s a Russian Blue and about five months old. She was found on the streets. A friend of mine dropped her off to me because I’m that lady. I was going to take her to a shelter, but they were so filled up. Reb walked over to her and pulled her in and started to clean her, and they have been inseparable ever since.

Let’s talk about Dancing With the Stars. What has been your experience as a judge on the show?

It’s so much fun. When I was 18 and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, I never would’ve said, I want to be judge on a ballroom dance show. It was not anything I ever wanted or thought about. Now that I’ve been doing it for 25 seasons, I feel really lucky. Dancing With the Stars is more than just a dance competition show. It’s people getting out there, trying something new, which is so important in life. It’s inspiring, and I get to take that home with me every time I’m there.

What are some of the best routines you’ve seen on the show?

There’s been so many! I will say that Gilles Marini, when he danced with Cheryl Burke—that’s one of those outstanding partnerships. That’s the definition of Dancing With the Stars. The passion they had was incredible. Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough were also one of those couples that was hard to beat. They were fantastic. This past season, Normani (Kordei) and Val (Chmerkovskiy) had something spectacular.

I want to say that this year, one of the best partnerships was Rashad (Jennings) and Emma (Slater) because there was something really profound about their journey, and I think everybody at home tapped into it. What I love about our show is that people vote with their heart—they don’t have to vote for the best dancing.

Great interview. Be sure to read the interview in full at Parade.

In honor of#blackcatappreciationday -I present Mimi Vader!!!!! The coolest cat ever. Even today, someone said to me, "I don't usually like cats but I love her. " Mimi came to me by way of @perrys_place_la and is a rescue. She was once part of a feral colony… and she loves herself a good pack to run with. When the dogs run in our house, Mimi is right up with them… she's the most friendly cat ever. She always comes when you call her. She brings you toys… mostly the big dog bone stuffed toy. And she never complains even though she suffers from a chronic sinus infection. She's always cheerful and she just makes everyone smile. Another unique quality? She has curly hair on her tummy! So, on this special day, we honor you #Mimi -our sweet little girl. #blackcat #cat

PureDWTS Watchout #2: Anthony Scaramucci Asked On Dancing With The Stars Again

You might have seen our previous Anthony Scaramucci “watch-out” post when TMZ asked if he’d like to dance on Dancing With The Stars. At the time, he acted shocked and kind of dismissed the question and said he couldn’t dance. Well, in a new interview this week, he said, “We’ll see, who knows”(more below). Also, last night, DWTSgossip, PureDWTS, myself, other dancers (thanks Kristyn), and people were followed by him at twitter. Kinda makes one go “hmmmm”. Did this watch out just get a little stronger? Let us know what you think in comments. From Hollywood Reporter….

Perhaps the most revealing moment in Scaramucci’s Media Comeback Tour came in the last minute of a Facebook Live interview conducted by ABC News political director Rick Klein.

Scaramucci lit up when he was asked if he’d appear on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. “Get Lorne Michaels to call me,” he responded. “I don’t know. I’ll bring my sunglasses for that.” He also jovially parried a question about appearing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars — he’s not a great dancer, he said, but added, “We’ll see, who knows.” (An SNL spokesperson did not respond to a question about a possible Mooch appearance.)

What Are The Dancing With The Stars Pros Shooting Today In LA?

Not sure what’s going on today, but, it looks like the pros are in Los Angeles shooting something? Could it be a new Dancing With The Stars photo shoot for a poster or new promo for the new season? Whatever it is, I’m liking Lindsay Arnold’s costume! 🙂

Insider Shoots Down Dancing With The Stars Season 25 Cast Rumors, Comments On New Cast

At the end of July, TMZ reported producers of Dancing With The Stars were in talks with “Bachelor In Paradise” star DeMario Jackson to dance in Season 25? Variety is reporting is now reporting this rumor is not true. They also shoot down some of the other rumors we’ve reported on. Below is more including a comment on the new season…..

“I don’t think so,” the source says when asked if Olympios has been considered for the dance competition series. “I think [ABC] was really happy with how Nick Viall did in the spring, but if I had to guess, I’d guess that this fall, the show would probably take a break from Bachelor Nation. [The network] doesn’t like these shows to feel too intertwined.”

As for Sean Spicer, ABC had been eyeing the former White House press secretary, but he will not be joining the reality dancing show this season. Our source says that there was “some interest” in casting Spicer over the past few weeks, but plans fell apart this past weekend and it “doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.” However, the network had been talking to Spicer and was interested in him because of his recent pop culture relevance. In the fall, ABC typically goes for buzzy personalities who are newsworthy, since many athletes are not available with football season and have to wait to be cast on “DWTS” until the spring.

According to our source, Anthony Scaramucci, who was quickly ousted from Trump’s administration after a now-infamous explosive and vulgar interview, won’t be putting on his dancing shoes either. ABC hasn’t even reached out to Scaramucci.

“My gosh. By the time the show premieres, who knows how many other communications directors we’ll have gone through,” our source says with a laugh. In jest, the source adds, “Sure — [they’ll cast] Scaramucci, and then the replacement next week, and then the replacement next week. It will be ‘Dancing With the White House Communications Corp!’”

While our insider is staying mum on who has been officially cast for Season 25, the source says the network is “really happy” about who has signed on so far, but is still searching for more celebrity contestants. “I think it’s going to be a really warm cast — really fun and a lot of great dance ability.”

I hope so. More at Variety.

Executive Producer Deena Katz Talks On The Casting Of Dancing With The Stars Season 25

Executive Producer Deena Katz talked to CNN about casting the new season of Dancing With The Stars. Note that she has a couple of slots still open for Season 25, but, she’s not wanting to offend anyone with political figures. Read on….

“I really don’t want to offend anyone and right now, it’s a pretty volatile atmosphere out there,” she said. “I kind of feel like right now, I want everyone to be able to just enjoy themselves.”

She admits the publicity and buzz garnered from high-profile castings is “appealing.” She would never sacrifice the show’s bottom line for it, though.

“I’m not gonna lie, those kind of names don’t hurt. That kind of press does not hurt, as long as it’s genuine and good for the show then I think it’s great,” she said.
Katz also keeps in mind her desire to have a tight-knit cast, who often becomes “like a family,” she said.

“Part of the reason the show works so well is that everybody is rooting for everybody else,” she said of the cast. “And there shouldn’t be any tension and there hasn’t been. That’s not the kind of environment I’m going to make.”

Katz sees her job as “putting together the best dinner party you’ve ever seen,” filled with unexpected characters from varying backgrounds. This year will be no different.
“We do draw from everywhere,” she said. “It’s not me. It’s not my politics. It’s really a cross section of America.”

I really hope she doesn’t choose someone politically. I’m so over it. More at CNN
