Pure Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Talks On 2014 Version Of DWTS, BWAT With Gleb Savchenko, And Lots More

What a joy it was to interview our beautiful Miss Sharna again!! After seeing her and Gleb Savchenko in “Ballroom With A Twist” in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I had so many questions. What’s fun is…she and Gleb put an amazing, show-stopping dance number to “Fever” together only several hours before the show. Let’s hope they will perform it again on Dancing With The Stars as it literally took my breath away and I know it would take yours away as well.

Also, Sharna catches up on all of her projects that happened in the off season of Dancing With The Stars! She and her boyfriend and dancer Paul Kirkland spent Christmas together and they also helped to choreograph two dances for “Strictly Come Dancing”. Not only that, but, they also put a dance piece together for a sports charity called “Sports Relief” with 4 incredible paralympians. Sharna also recently danced in Holland America’s Dancing With The Stars At Sea Cruise. She sent us some incredible photos and pictures highlighting everything as you will soon see.

Lastly, Sharna also gives some thoughts on the new season of Dancing With The Stars and how it will be the “2014 Version”. We think you might find her thoughts interesting.

So, without further ado, below is Sharna Burgess! We thank her so much for her time again and let’s hope we see her and Gleb on the new season of Dancing With The Stars.xxx

It is so great to visit with you again, Sharna. And first, omg,…can I just say, you and Gleb took my breath away at the Cheyenne, WY Ballroom With A Twist Shows Feb. 1st! So, what did you think of Cheyenne and the Rocky Mountains? Did you like the SNOW? I hope you will come back to the Rocky Mountain region again one day again.

Hi Vogue!!! Thank you so much for your beautiful review AND amazing photos!! that certainly means a lot to both Gleb and I. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see very much of Cheyenne, I flew in late the night before the show and super early the morning after, but I have to say that I loved the snow. Being Australian I have never really seen snow all that often, and what little snow we do have in Australia is really icy and hard, being in Cheyenne I truly understood what people mean when they say powder!! Its just so beautiful and fun to play in!! Of course we know mother nature can sometimes be cruel turn that beautiful snow into a menace, and my heart goes out to all of you who have been suffering with blizzards and painfully cold weather this season. I am truly grateful for every single person in the audience that braved the cold to come out and see us perform, Cheyenne was such an AMAZING audience and I had so much fun up on that stage! I feel like everyone’s troubles got left at the door and we all just had a wonderful evening. Its an honor for me to know that I was a part of that. I also hope that I make it back there again soon :)

BWATCheyenne2014 014

What kind of rehearsal process did you go through in getting ready for Ballroom With A Twist? I thought you and Gleb were only doing 2 dances. So, I was so happy and pleasantly surprised when you did more! They were just breathtaking as well as your costumes. You and Gleb were in an element of your own. I have to say (and I’ve heard this from other fans at PureDWTS too) that you two make one of the most beautiful pro pairings on the show. It’s true. There is a magnetism and chemistry there. Plus, you are both so funny too with the way you would tease one another.

Oh thank you!!! I absolutely love dancing with Gleb, not only is he the sweetest most humble guy on the planet, he is a fantastic partner and Read more..

Emma Slater Interviewed About Dancing With The Stars And Ballroom With A Twist

Highlands Today caught up with Emma Slater to talk about Dancing With The Stars and the Ballroom With A Twist and how much she has enjoyed dancing in both. Here is more. *love her!!

Slater, who grew up in the Midlands of England, moved to London when she was 16 where she performed in competitions and theater shows. She joined “Dancing with the Stars” in 2012 and made her pro dance debut in Season 17 with funny-man Bill Engvall. The exposure from the TV show has been both “shocking” and “heartwarming,” with everybody saying nice things about her, Slater said. “Career wise it has been the most significant for me,” she said. “It literally changed my life.” She had to move to a different county and faced new and different challenges such as taking care of a celebrity and creating the choreography, Slater said. The outcome of the dance pairing of Engvall and Slater surprised many. “We got to the finals and it was very unexpected because he was literally thought of as a person who would go out first. The bookies in Las Vegas had him leaving the show first and he ended up going all the way to the finals and no one was more shocked than he was.”

Slater enjoys dancing to the live singing of “American Idol” finalists Gina Glocksen and Von Smith on the “Ballroom with a Twist” tour. “They are amazing,” Slater said. “It’s so much better to dance to than just a recorded track.” The show’s dancing styles includes: ballroom, Latin, hip hop and contemporary. “There is nothing that can really replace live performances,” she said. “So the audience can expect a lot of energy, a lot of passion and very, very high quality live dancing.”

DWTS Val Chmerkovskiy Excited To Be In Florida For Ballroom With A Twist Shows (New Interview)

Here’s to the “Ballroom With A Twist” shows in Florida this week!! For tickets and scheduling information (and info on who the pros who will be dancing), see this link. Below is a teaser from Keys News as they chatted with Val Chmerkovskiy about the show.

“Yes, there is definitely a difference in that Ballroom with a Twist doesn’t include the competition factor,” Chmerkovskiy told The Citizen Sunday. “But I love live performance, no matter what. I love being on a stage and the energy that goes along with it.”

Ballroom with a Twist also includes audience interaction with the performers and a question-and-ansewr session at the end.

“Fans of Dancing with the Stars can expect to see us perform different and exciting numbers during Ballroom with a Twist, and they can get to know us a little,” Chmerkovskiy said. “This show combines incredible performance with a very intimate, and cozy kind of feel because of the interaction we have with the audience.”

Chmerkovskiy said he has not been touring with Ballroom with a Twist for all of its performances, but said he is excited to be in Key West, where he visited several years ago.

I will admit it’s no accident that I happened to sign on and be available for this show, which happens to take place in Key West in February, said the dancer who was born in Ukraine and moved to Brooklyn when he was 8.

It’s a great show. Be sure you see it!! More at Keys News.

Tristan MacManus Discusses DWTS And More, Ballroom With A Twist Pictures Including Emma Slater

What a fabulous interview with Tristan MacManus by MacManiacs.org. Tristan answers questions about Dancing With The Stars, the Holland America Dancing With The Stars At Sea Cruise, Dirty Dancing The Musical, Ballroom With A Twist, and more. Below are a couple of takes including his thoughts about the orchestra being let go. Be sure to visit the link for more. A great weekend read!! Instagram below is of Tristan and Gina Glocksen. Currently they are in Ft. Collins, Colorado doing “Ballroom With A Twist” which one fan reports was a “great show” Thursday night. Also below is a picture from Emma Slater from behind the scenes of “Ballroom With A Twist” in Ft. Collins.

We’ve recently learned that Harold Wheeler and his orchestra as well as the singers will not return for Season 18. Do you have any special memories of working with them? What did you enjoy most? What will you miss the most?

Yeah, I just read that the other day, and I have reached out to a few of the singers who I really like. It’s such a shame and I’m disappointed but I don’t know the reasons behind it and won’t really have an opinion on the new structure until we see or hear how it’s gonna play out. I think the singers and band are as big a part of the show as the dancers and celebrities and I think it will be a huge loss but unfortunately, just like us, everyone and every idea is replaceable. I hope that everyone moves on to bigger and better things and maybe it’s a blessing in disguise for some. Time will tell, I guess.

You were Dance Captain for Dirty Dancing. That must have a been a lot of responsibility and likely gave you a broader perspective as to what overall production entails. Would you tell us what that job was like and what responsibilities you had?

Dirty Dancing was great craic. I was the Ballroom Dance Captain so I was supposed to be teaching the ensemble and actors how to do the ballroom. I got to help some but not as much as I would have liked and I wasn’t allowed to make any changes (which annoyed me) to choreography. Some of the actors had been in the show a few years so they did what they did and left it at that. I would have liked to re-choreograph it to suit everyone in it better. Dirty Dancing The Musical is the same as the movie; you don’t change lines and you don’t change anything….at all – haha. The cast were the best people I ever met. We honestly all got on great with each other so I miss it a lot sometimes and I’m am still in touch with the majority of them. I was more responsible for the morale in the end – haha. Seriously though I had to clean numbers and if someone was sick I had to make sure the swings (covers) knew where to be and what to do.

In one of your venues for Ballroom With a Twist last summer you performed on a circular stage. How did you have to adapt the dancing for that?

Yeah. It was tough enough but great though. I like having everyone all around but you always have your back to somebody. It was tough because it was so dark and there was only one ramp exit off the stage so when you have been spinning and turning to keep everyone involved for the whole dance finding the way off in the dark was very amusing. We tried to catch each other out and send someone off to the far end until the lights came back on. Haha!
