PureDWTS Season 27 Cast Rumors & Watchout: Christy Carlson Romano “Would Love To Do DWTS”

It looks like we’ve got our first campaigner for season 27 – former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano has thrown her hat in the ring:

I think she’d be a great choice for the show – there’s nostalgia there from her Even Stevens and Kim Possible days, but she’s also a wife and a mom now and relatable for the DWTS audience.  And we’re still (relatively) early in the season 27 casting process – she might be a good last-minute casting if they’re still looking to fill out the roster, and it looks like they have talked to her before…so she’s on their radar.  I think she might be a good fit for Alan…thoughts?

PureDWTS Season 23 Cast Rumors & Watchout: Another Racing Driver/James Hinchcliffe, Maybe?

One of the perks of being a lifelong resident of Indianapolis is that you usually have a pretty good ear to the ground when it comes to the goings-on down at the racetrack – I have at least 5 friends whose jobs are directly related to racing, and anything even remotely interesting that happens at the track usually makes it to the local news (even a dog getting loose on the track and delaying practice for 15 minutes…true story).

Occasionally, this connection pays off – as it did a couple weeks ago, when a friend who works very closely with the racing industry (I won’t give any more detail than that, lest I inadvertently get this friend in trouble) mentioned to me in passing that DWTS had been shopping around to cast another racing driver for season 23. Said friend mentioned that they were looking at Indycar, and the name that he/she kept hearing was James Hinchcliffe’s.  Given that Hinch was spotted in the audience this past season (see below), I don’t think it’s entirely unbelievable that the show might be angling to cast him.  Interestingly, James also favorited/responded to some interesting tweets asking if he would do the show – including one of mine:

Pretty cool to be @dancingabc tonight for the live show! Where are you @heliocastroneves !?! #Indycar #DWTS

For those who aren’t familiar with Indycar or are asking “So why would DWTS cast him?”, let me give you a crash course (no pun intended…ok, maybe a little) in Hinch: he’s Canadian, he’s basically the face of Indycar right now, he has a podcast, he has his own beer, he was on Family Feud recently, and the dude’s hilarious.  Charisma for DAYS. Oh, he also almost died in a crash last year and has made a recovery that is nothing short of miraculous. And with Indycar experiencing a resurgence in popularity in the past year, while NASCAR continues to decline in viewership, and the with the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 making the news? He’s got relevance. So to recap: big personality? Check. Relevance? Check. Amazing backstory? Check.  Even if this is the extent of his dance ability heading into the show, who the hell even cares? I’d probably laugh my ass off just listening to him read the phone book. 😛

Schedule-wise, it might be a bit of a challenge at first – the Indycar season doesn’t end until September 18 (in Sears Point, California…not too much of a trek from L.A.), so his partner might have to do some traveling with him prior to the start of the season and for the first week of the season; interestingly enough, the penultimate race of the Indycar season is on September 4 in Watkins Glen, New York…last year’s fall cast announcement was on September 2 on GMA, in NYC. See what I’m getting at here? 😉 For what it’s worth, the 2007 Indycar season didn’t end until September 9, and the season 5 cast announcement was on August 29…so Helio was in a similar position and had to rehearse with Julianne concurrently with the Indycar season. Ditto for the All-Star season – cast was announced on July 27, Indycar season didn’t end until September 15, season 15 premiered on September 24. So a bit of overlap between the seasons doesn’t necessarily negate the possibility of him doing the show. It’s also worth mentioning that Michael Waltrip had quite a bit of overlap with the NASCAR season when he did season 19.

If, for whatever reason, they opt not to cast Hinch (or he declines), there’s still some other casting possibilities within Indycar – you might remember that Tony Kanaan was a rumor a few years back, and nothing really came of it; he’s still very much an Indycar fan favorite, and recently appeared on both American Ninja Warrior and Family Feud. Also noteworthy? Alexander Rossi, the winner of the 100th running of the Indy 500 and the first rookie to win the Indy 500 since Helio won it back in 2001 – I could see the show running with that buzzworthy fact.  Granted, I personally just don’t find either to be as interesting a casting as Hinch (though TK comes close), but they’re options nonetheless.

So what do you guys think? Do you think Hinch or another Indycar driver would be a good get for this season? Who would you like to see him paired with, if he is cast?

Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Week 4 Las Vegas Odds To Win

Last week, Sports Bovada didn’t post their new odds for Dancing With The Stars, so that’s why you didn’t see us post on them. However, they have posted a new set of odds for Dancing With The Stars Week 4! Note how tight they are to previous seasons at this time which is a credit to this cast of dancers. Also, note how Amy Purdy moved up to second place ahead of Charlie White!! After she and Derek’s dance this past week, it’s no wonder…

Meryl Davis 7/4
Amy Purdy 5/2
Charlie White 3/1
James Maslow 10/1
Danica McKellar 10/1
Candace Cameron Bure 15/1
Cody Simpson 20/1
NeNe Leakes 25/1
Drew Carey 33/1

Odds two weeks ago:

Charlie White 5/2
Meryl Davis 5/2
Amy Purdy 4/1
Candace Cameron Bure 11/2
Danica McKellar 15/2
James Maslow 10/1
Cody Simpson 20/1
Drew Carey 25/1
NeNe Leakes 25/1
Sean Avery 33/1
Billy Dee Williams 100/1
Diana Nyad 100/1

So, what do you think? Do the odds makers have it right this week? I think they do with an exception to Nene, Drew, and Cody. I think Nene should be in last place. I think Candace should be lowered to next to last with Drew and Cody in the middle of the pack. Other than that, they have it about right.

Court and Heidi, what do you think?

Courtney: *shrug* Do the odds really even matter anymore, with all of the shady business going on behind the scenes? I feel like I’m betting on a fixed boxing match.  I guess I understand why Meryl is at the top – seems like she’s being set up as the golden girl now, after a few weeks of Charlie actually being the golden boy.  Do I think she’ll actually win? Hell no.  Mark my words, the “setting up” will backfire.  Glad to see Amy moving up; looks like everyone else is kind of staying the same.  I would put NeNe before Drew, though – I doubt the Real Housewives fanbase is going to carry her a whole lot further, past switch week.

Heidi: I’m kinda with Courtney. And I think Charlie will end up winning in the end. I think we’re going to get to some dances that Amy may struggle with and I think Meryl will come off too much like a sure thing and it will backfire. People do like an underdog and they’re the ones putting Charlie there – really, he talks in his package about how it’s nice to be at the top of the leaderboard and then he’s underscored to make sure he’s lower than Meryl? That’s not at all transparent!! If they don’t hose Meryl but good a couple times, or at least get real with Maks on not upping the choreo, I think she’ll lose.  They had her 3 points ahead of the next couples – bad idea.  I do agree that Drew will last longer than NeNe – he just has a larger fanbase and unless they start overscoring her and underscoring him, I think he outlasts her.  I do wonder if we’re going to see a “shocking” elimination of either Candice or Danica – Candace because she’s not dancing that well and is kind of in the background (note they didn’t even really show her Full House cast in the audience) or Danica because Maks is back and any cross over voting Val might have benefited from in the past is going all to Maks to help him win. And if not….well, that supports my Meryl isn’t going to win wager. 🙂  If not one of the women, possibly either Cody or James and I’m leaning toward Cody right now because James is making a strong showing.

New Las Vegas Odds For DWTS Season 18 Week 2: Speaking of Switches

Sports Bovada has posted their new odds for Dancing With The Stars Week 2. As always, there is a shake up after we see them dance the first time. This week they have Meryl and Charlie tied for first and note how Amy has moved up the ladder to 3rd! Danica and Candace has also moved up knocking Cody and James down. I love how Drew Carey made a move as well. I think Sean should be higher, but, I would say the tie at the bottom for last is about right, would you?

Charlie White 5/2
Meryl Davis 5/2
Amy Purdy 4/1
Candace Cameron Bure 11/2
Danica McKellar 15/2
James Maslow 10/1
Cody Simpson 20/1
Drew Carey 25/1
NeNe Leakes 25/1
Sean Avery 33/1
Billy Dee Williams 100/1
Diana Nyad 100/1

Last weeks odds:

Meryl Davis 3/2
Charlie White 3/1
Cody Simpson 6/1
James Maslow 6/1
Amy Purdy 10/1
Candace Cameron Bure 15/1
Danica McKellar 15/1
NeNe Leakes 15/1
Sean Avery 20/1
Billy Dee Williams 25/1
Diana Nyad 33/1
Drew Carey 33/1

Let’s get Miss Heidi and Court’s thoughts and be sure to let us know your thoughts as well in comments.

Courtney: I actually agree with this week’s odds, for the most part – the fact that James’ odds are twice as good as Cody’s has me really puzzled, though.  Were we watching the same show, oddsmakers? Because Cody made a pretty big splash on Monday, while James was just treading water…and I don’t expect that to change a whole lot throughout the course of the season.  I think we might begin to see more of a gap between Meryl & Charlie as the weeks wear on, as well – I’m guessing he’s going to continue to thrill each week, while she might have some off-weeks (which I’m thinking may have to do more with Maks’ choreography than anything else).  And if my gut feeling is right,  I think Candace & Danica may flip-flip back and forth in the odds each week – I get the feeling they’re setting that one up to be a neck-and-neck race, with the girls alternating who does better each week.  Other than that, I think the odds are pretty spot-on…I might have given Billy Dee a slight edge over Diana, just in terms of fanbase, but that’s kind of a moot point…

Heidi: Yeah, I’m not finding anything to argue with on this one. Shocker. 🙂  I think Meryl and Charlie will remain at the top and Amy, Danica and Candace will flip flop around with each other depending on how they do in a given week. Aaaannnndddd…..I got nuthin’ else. 😀

Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Monday Morning Media And Pics Starter

Just a little starter for a Monday wake up! If you head to the Daily Mail here and here, you can view some of the cast arriving to rehearsals over the weekend. I’m loving Karina’s hair and I want a pair of Peta’s sunglasses. 😀

In other mentions, Diana Nyad was named as one of the “Sportwomen of the Year” at the LA Sports Awards. Below is more from UCLA Bruins….

In other award presentations, Clippers All-Star guard Chris Paul was honored as 2013 Sportsman of the Year and record-setting long distance swimmer Diana Nyad and Sparks star Candace Parker were co-named the Sportswomen of the Year.

Kym Johnson is in the news too! She’s going to host the 2014 PWN Awards for Pole Dancing. We thank Sally for sending us this news. You can view a beautiful poster of her at the link.

Carrie Anne Inaba is currently vacationing in Italy, but, she promises to be home soon in time for the new season of Dancing With The Stars. I’m loving this pic she posted at her twitter and facebook. She looks so happy.

And just one more thing….7 more days and counting until….

PureDWTS Weekend Media Tidbits, TV Heads Up, And More Wonderings

Isn’t that a hot pose with Peta Murgatroyd and James Maslow? Love it!!! In other media things to share!!! If you head to the Daily Mail, you can see some of the cast arriving to rehearsals again. You can see Danica McKeller, Mark Ballas, Henry Byalikov, Karina Smirnoff, Diana Nyad, Peta Murgatroyd, Candace Cameron-Bure, Val Chmerkovskiy, Nene Leakes, and Whitney Carson. But, if that wasn’t enough, All Access also has some pics of Cody Simpson, Karina Smirnoff, and Witney Carson here, here (Jim, will this do? 🙂 ), and here.

Also, just some TV heads up: Drew Carey will be a guest on Kelly and Michael next Friday, March 14th! Erin Andrews will be on The View on the same day.

Ok, that is all for now except I’m kind of wondering what Tom Bergeron means with this tweet?

Spent a few hours annoying the @DancingABC producers yesterday. They’ve got some fun treats up their spray-tanned sleeves for Season 18.

Be sure to read this link for the convo that took place afterwards.

Also, what is Emma and Billy Dee up to in this new @DancingABC pic?

LOL Loves Emma’s eyes!! And this is fun too…

Ok, Vogue over and out for now!!xx
