Pictured above is Cheryl Burke and NHL player Joffrey Lupul. Wednesday the two made an appearance at the “Jockey for a Cause” event in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The charity event, held at the DeHaven Estate, raised money for jockeys injured while competing. You can read more at E News. More pics at Getty Images. Wow, Cheryl has never looked more stunning! What do you think? Is this dress a hit in your opinion?
Just a couple of Dancing With The Stars media tidbits!! First up, get ready to set your DVRs! HGTV is reporting that the five remaining designers on “Design Star All Stars” must transform two large rooms for Dancing With The Stars pros Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskya. It might be challenging since Jonathan wants a “sophisticated man cave” while Anna wants a “chic living room/dining room that can double as a rehearsal space.” You can more at HGTV.
Also, isn’t this a great picture of Peta and Maks below? Now if these two don’t look happy, what’s happiness? Friday night the two celebrated Peta’s birthday at the Southampton Social Club. Then on Saturday, Maks and Peta along with Val headed to Georgica. You can read all about it and more social events in the Hamptons at Hamptons.com.
And in the land of Tony Dovolani….guess what? Tony will be taking over the “host” spot in the Dancing With The Stars Live In Las Vegas show from August 1st-5th. For more details, visit Broadway World. Louis Van Amstel will also be dancing in the show from July 19-29th. According to his twitter, he just arrived in Los Angeles. Will Louis be seeing a lot of Los Angeles in the next 4 months? It remains to be seen.
Last, but, not least, don’t miss heading over the Pure Derek Hough as soon as you can. Miss Heidi has more goodies on Derek to share which includes more new gorgeous pics including this hot gem. Someone take our temperature. No don’t.
And that makes this a wrap!
Thanks to Court for seeing this tweet which Heidi and I think is suspicious too!!! As many of you know, Trista Sutter and Louis Van Amstel were partners on the first season of Dancing With The Stars. This is when Louis had long hair. LOL! Flashback video below at the end of this post. LOL!!
Let’s get Miss Heidi’s thoughts:
Heidi: My thoughts are that Trista is one to watch…for the next ten days, anyway. Now, it’s entirely possible that this is nothing. In fact, since Trista was the first one out her season, it’s kinda likely that it’s nothing. But the timing is very coincidental…and of course, a new season of the Bachelor will be starting before you know it, along with Bachelor Pad. And we know how ABC feels about cross promotion. Before you know it, they’ll be having TWO family members on each season. Anyway, I did a quick google on her and it doesn’t seem like she has anything going on other than motherhood – which is great, but makes this tweet all the more interesting. Things that make you go “hmmmm….”
Wow – random thought. My brain always goes to the pro pairing, so what do you suppose would happen if, say, Derek, Val or Tristan end up with Trista. In fact, Trista and Tristan has a funny ring to it. I’m just thinking about the possible fall out if pros who would like to be back on the show get one of their former partners handed off to either a newbie or someone who has no former partners coming back. Yes, I am evil.
I’m sad. It sounds like Ralph Macchio won’t be dancing for the Dancing With The Stars All-star Season liked many of us hoped. Below is more from USA Today. Note what he reveals about the cast being already set (he thinks) and that he’s heard it will be previous top 3 “finalists” and note the word “all” (which I’m not sure how to take? ). Be sure to see the link because Ralph is interviewed about his role on “American Gypsies” too which sounds really good. Check it out!
Ralph Macchio says Dancing With the Stars gave him “a very positive shot in the arm.” Competing on the show last year was hard work, and his knees would have liked it a lot better “20 years ago,” says the original Karate Kid star, who is now 50.
But he loved performing and loved the fans. “The joy I got was how much joy everyone else got out of it.”
However, he will not be on the All-Star edition that kicks off in the fall. “I think that cast is set already,” he said Monday in a phone interview. He says, “I hear it’s finalists,” all previous top-3 performers.
“I never campaigned,” he says. (Like Joey Lawrence has on Twitter.) “I would have been flattered if they came to me, but I think it happened at the right time.”
In other words, he has other things to do.
The Examiner has a great piece up on former Dancing With The Stars contestant Joey Fatone. They ask him about the possibility of returning for the Dancing With The Stars All Star season. Below is what he said about it. Note how he said he hasn’t got “the call” yet and also note how he’s in the process of moving to Los Angeles. Hmmm?
While Fatone is grateful for his varied career opportunities, he said that “Dancing with the Stars” was one of his greatest experiences, as it took him out of the element of what he was used to. When asked if there was any chance of him returning for the show’s star-studded 15th season, which will mix up the format a bit by bringing back past contestants for a chance to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy, Fatone said he wasn’t sure just yet if that was something he wanted to do.
“I don’t really have to redeem myself, as I came in second place,” he explained. “But maybe for the fun of it. I haven’t gotten a call though [inviting him back], but I should know soon enough.”
For now, Fatone is just hoping to spend some more time with his family as he makes the move from Florida to L.A. Whether or not he’ll extend his contact with “Dancing with the Stars: Live in Las Vegas” should the show be extended again remains to be seen, but, as Fatone noted, with 14 seasons of the hit ABC series already wrapped, there are plenty of celebrities to fill his spot should he decide to leave the Vegas production before it ends.
You can read more of this cool interview here.
So, what do you think? Would you like to see Joey come back for the Dancing With The Stars All Star season?
I always liked Joey. I loved NSync too!! I wouldn’t mind seeing him dance again. Remember this? He was quite faster on his feet than I first thought he would be.
As you know from a previous posting with new interviews, etc., Dancing With The Stars pro Mark Ballas has been performing at the Dancing With The Stars Live in Las Vegas show this week. Well, the Morning Blend has interviewed him as well where Mark talks about the 6 numbers he’s in, his pets (did you know he has two dogs and three turtles?), his favorite partners on Dancing With The Stars, his parents and how he got into music and ballroom dancing, and more. You can listen to the fun interview in full here. Thanks to CMHagey You Tube, here’s some great footage of Mark dancing in the show as well. I love this song!
Pictured above is Dancing With The Stars pro dancer Mark Ballas. Sunday night, he looked lean and mean playing his guitar at the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Seeing this picture and others like it at Getty Images makes me want to see him perform on Dancing With The Stars in a string duo with Val Chmerkovskiy again. How about you? Be sure to see all of the pics. They are some of the best music performing pics I’ve ever seen of Mark in action! He really gets into it!
Also, Fox 5 in Las Vegas interviewed Mark on Dancing With The Stars Live In Vegas. Last night, he danced for the first time in the show. He’ll be dancing until July 12th if you’d like to take it in. He will also be performing his music in the Tropicana Lounge on Thursday night. Details below.
Thanks to MarkBallas Facebook and MarkBallas.com for the heads up on the video above!
ADDING: KTNV in Las Vegas interviewed Mark as well as Sabrina Bryan. Yes, the two are reunited again. Watching this interview makes one wonder on if she will be back for the All Star season which is briefly mentioned? You can see the new interview HERE.
As promised, Annie Barrett of Entertainment Weekly posted the videos of her backstage interview with Tristan MacManus, Lacey Schwimmer, Joey Fatone, and Carson Kressley before she saw Dancing With The Stars Live In Las Vegas. Carson shows off all of his costumes including his “Vogue” and “Moves Like Jagger” costumes. Tristan and Lacey talk on their injuries and the show’s ‘different vibe’ from the TV version. They say Tom Bergeron is jealous of Carson’s part and he is a “Silver Fox”. Joey Fatone talks of why he returned to dancing and how he loves his two dances. You can see more of this fun interview in four parts HERE.
Granted, it may be nothing or could it be something? We’ll let you decide.
Go Carson! I would love to see him back!
What a great in-depth three page review for Dancing With The Stars: LIVE In Las Vegas by Annie Barrett of Entertainment Weekly. She gives huge props to Carson Kressley calling him a “marvel” in his hosting duties and how he is “never not funny” much like Tom Bergeron. She calls the show “quite stunning, especially during the many bombastic group numbers” and how the lack of cameras (seen if you are sitting in the audience on the TV version) “frees up the dancers to use the entire stage and actually move.”
The whole thing felt more like a musical — with slow/sensual or fierce/emphatic movements instead of dialogue, or literally (if we want to get all Carrie Ann about it) “beautiful lines” instead of spoken lines.
She also raves about dancing pro Lacey Schwimmer (who got hurt this past week) saying she “commands the stage”…
As I expected, the dancer who embodied that classic for-the-love-of-the-game performance quality the most for me was Our Pro Lacey Schwimmer. Girl knows how to command a stage — even if she had just slunk into a corner, she was all I could see. Also, uh oh: I just read that Lacey hurt her ankle during the week and didn’t dance last night. Noooooo. If she can’t return that’ll be a huge loss for the show. Lacey and her crazy hair extensions (currently pink and purple) are truly the life of the party.
But, Annette’s favorite dance in the LIVE show was, to her surprise, a Rumba with Dmitry Chaplain and Anya Garnis….
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anya as one of Our Pros at some point — though if there’s any intention of maintaining a DWTS Vegas run throughout the rest of the year instead of just in the summer, whoever’s in charge may want to shackle her (using prop police handcuffs) and Dmitry to a Tropicana slot machine right now. She’s on fire!
YES. Fave dance of the night: Dmitry and Anya’s rumba. It took 14 seasons and a trip to Vegas for me to realize this, but maybe there IS a place for barefoot men in the ballroom. They just have to look/play the guitar/open their shirts like Dmitry. Oh screw that, they just have to be Dmitry. NEW RULE: Only Mr. Chaplin can remove his shoes.
Anya can barely even process his hotness.
You can read lots more of this fun review on the show and the cast at Entertainment Weekly. You can see more pictures as well. Also, be sure to read the part on Tristan MacManus. He joined her, Lacey, Carson, and Joey Fatone for a pre-show backstage chat in Carson’s dressing room. We hope to post that interview as soon as it’s made available.
