Emma Slater Interviewed On Dancing With The Stars, The New Tour, Hayes Grier, And More

Dance Pro Emma Slater tells the Niagara Gazette that her work on Dancing With The Stars is like a “paid holiday” since she loves it so much. She says they all feel like that and going on tour with her friends and seeing the country makes it even more special. Hayes Grier has now joined the tour as well. More below….

“I don’t see my work as anything other than a paid holiday because I love it so much,” Slater said. We all feel like that, going on tour is a great opportunity to see the country and I am fortunate to be with my colleagues, who happen to be my friends, and doing something I love.”

Slater is originally from England and has been performing on the show for the last five seasons. She fondly remembers how she wound up in Los Angeles and became part of the Dancing with the Stars ensemble.

“I’m from Birmingham initially, which is in the middle part of England. I finished school at 16 and then started touring as part of a dance show. I moved to London for three years and then from the age of 19 I was fortunate enough to tour the world and work on Broadway. They find you, and once they became aware of me I was contacted by the show for an interview and not long afterward they asked me to be a part of the show. It was one of the best days of my life.”

During her five seasons Slater has been paired with an interesting mix of stars, including former Star Wars cast member Billy Dee Williams.

“I have not seen (the new Star Wars movie) yet but Artem (Chigvintsev) has seen it and he told me it is really good. I have seen all of the other Star Wars movies and I am a fan. I’ll definitely have to catch up with Billy Dee Williams over the holiday when I am back in L.A. to see what he thinks.”

When Williams was paired with Slater he was already in his mid-seventies in season 18, last season Slater was paired with 15-year-old Hayes Grier who will be a special guest at the Seneca Niagara show. Working with a large range of ages has its unique challenges according to Slater.

“The age does not matter as much as the retention. Working with Hayes (Grier) was a real eye-opener. He had so much enthusiasm and youth, and was able to retain things quickly so we were able to refine our routines. With the older gentlemen I found they had more confidence, Bill Engvall had no problem putting himself out there, which was a bit more of a struggle for Hayes.”

Grier and Slater’s talent will be on full display Saturday as part of what promises to be a great evening of entertainment at Seneca Niagara. Slater promised that there will be some fun surprises and audience participation as well.

Lindsay Arnold Talks About The New DWTS Tour, Hoping To Be Pro Again, And More

Good Grit Magazine talked with Dancing With The Stars pro Lindsay Arnold about the new Dancing With The Stars Live “Dance All Night” Tour. She says the new tour has been so fun so far. She also speaks of how the tour is different than what we see on TV.

GOOD GRIT: How has the tour been so far?

LINDSAY ARNOLD: The tour has been so fun! We’ve only been out for a week and a half, but it feels like we’ve been together for so long. It’s fun to travel and see the fans, and all of the support we have. We have so much fun together, especially on tour because the pressure is off and it’s more about having fun and enjoying yourself and performing

GG: What’s different about seeing this show than seeing you guys on TV?

ARNOLD: This show is totally different from the live television show. We’re dancing longer routines that have more of a story. On the show, we only usually get a minute or a minute fifteen to tell a story and we only do one dance a week; whereas, during this show, I’m doing at least sixteen dances. This is my first tour; but if you’ve seen the tour before, we have something completely new this time around. We have an incredible stage and our entire backdrop is a LCD screen that creates the most beautiful pictures during every single dance. During the dancing, the screen content is moving along with us to complement us, which is incredible and I think that’s something that really adds to the dancing.

More at Good Grit Magazine including how she hopes to be a pro again in the next season of Dancing With The Stars.

Lindsay Arnold Interviewed On The New DWTS Tour, The Cast Visits The Children’s Hospital In Los Angeles, And More

Lot’s of goodies on the tour today. First, check out the New Orleans Advocate. They talked to Lindsay Arnold about the new Dancing With The Stars Live “Dance All Night” Tour. She says the show “really went all out for this one” and she is right!!

“You’re going to see every style of dance you can imagine,” said Arnold, who has performed with the show for six seasons.

This is Arnold’s first time on tour.

“The show really went all out for this one,” she said. “The stage is enormous, and we have these incredible LED screens. And for portions of the show the dancers interact with the content on the screen. It adds a whole other effect to the movement.”

Arnold said fans of the show will recognize not only the dancers, but some of the choreography as well.

“I’ll actually be performing three dances that were on the show,” she said.

While “Dancing with the Stars” traditionally skewed more toward ballroom dancing, Arnold said the show has recently started to showcase a broader range of styles, including jazz, ballet and hip hop.

“They’ve really opened up the show, and you’re going to see that on the tour as well. We really get to have fun with it. There’s going to be everything from waltzes to contemporary. The show is really made for all ages — anyone who loves dance.”

Below are some video instagrams from the show last night in Los Angeles. Note that the cast also visited the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles yesterday. Sweet!! Read more..
