Wow, what a night!! I’m still upset about how the judges reacted to Sharna and Charlie. So unfair. Sharna tweeted that she isn’t sure what Charlie has to do, but, they will keep fighting. That’s the spirit.
In media things after the show, George Pennacchio of ABC7 has a recap and some previews of his interviews. Note how Sharna said she and Charlie have a Quickstep just like we previously posted last night. You can learn of more of our other dance spoilers here.
Also, On The Red Carpet has some awesome photos from the night. Pure Derek Hough has some screen caps of Amy and Derek and the Team dance too and more will be posted a little later.
And just to review the scores again in case you need them….
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough: 36
James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd: 35
Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy: 33
NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani: 31 (Eliminated)
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess: 36
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas: 35
Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 39
One more thing, did you happen to see Gleb Savchenco and Elena Samodanova in the audience? She indeed wore a dress from her new line as promised. Below are some instagrams of them both. Beautiful!!
Ok, that is all for now. More later. Keep checking back!! 😉 xx

I’d like to start by thanking our regular readers, the casual readers and our haters. 😉 Our page views have never been higher. So thanks. For some of you, I doubt this was what you intended. LOL.
Some of you who are fond of copying our stuff and then claiming we don’t know jack are in for a bit of a disappointment. I already know what three of the couples are dancing next week and if you behave yourselves, I might just share. Soon. 🙂
Now, on with the show. Tonight’s drinking game is about Danica. How often will they mention, pimp or otherwise exaggerate her injury that sources say isn’t as bad as is being portrayed? Take a shot every time. DOUBLE shot for words to that effect out of Danica’s mouth…Triple shot for Val. Do NOT send me your rehab bill. 😀 I’m paying for my own since I’ve been doing a shot every time someone is kissing Meryl’s ass in the comments. It beats back nausea. HA! Read more..

Val Chmerkovskiy tells Today that this past has been it’s been it’s most challenging from them all this season on Dancing With The Stars. The workload has increased because of the team dance. Also, Thursday they found out his partner Danica McKellar has a broken rib. Here is more…
I would say last week has been the most challenging week of the season for different reasons. The workload has increased with a group dance and the pressure is higher. It’s already been two and a half months of grueling work that has taken both a mental and a physical toll. I’m doing my best with Danica when it comes to playing both sides of the fence. I’m accommodating to her physical pain and troubles, but I understand there’s a job to be delivered every Monday.
The problem is we found out on Thursday that Danica has a fractured rib. It’s a big problem. I’m responsible for her and progress, but most importantly her well-being. It’s very hard for me not to blame myself a little bit — if not a lot of it.
This is a pain that Danica’s had since week two. We tried a couple of lifts this week while rehearsing and we heard a “pop” and then it was over. The pain was so bad she started crying. We went to the hospital for another X-ray. She has a fractured rib.
We didn’t even practice on Thursday. That night, we flew out to Washington, D.C., for a science and engineering conference that she’s on the panel for. She’s doing some lectures and a book signing. We have a huge salsa number and a huge team dance. It’s not looking good right now.
We have an amazing team for our team dance, which consists of Candace Cameron-Bure, who had to travel on Wednesday, and Meryl Davis, who had to travel on Thursday, also. Derek Hough and Amy Purdy are on the team, too. I’m not worried about the team dance. I know we’re going to pull that together as a collective unit. We’ll create something amazing. As far as Danica’s solo performance, that’s all on her and me. We’ll see. We’re going to go day by day.

Pop Candies was able to catch up with some of the cast leaving rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars this weekend. Below, Amy talks of how much Dancing With The Stars has helped her. Danica says “good” when asked how her ribs are holding up. Val comments that she’s doing good too. More with some of the other cast members at this link. Also, don’t miss seeing Amy Purdy and Derek on the Ellen Show today at Pure Derek Hough. They dance too. So cute!

Well, it’s Candace’s time in the hot seat, with Drew leaving us last week. Lucky for her, her road isn’t nearly as rough as Drew’s was. Who’s going to be eliminated it a bit more up in the air.
Meryl, of course, is still pretty insulated at the top of the leader board – she did a great dance and she shouldn’t have any problems this week. Even though there are risks being pretty consistently at the top too. Four out of six weeks, Meryl has been at the top of the leaderboard – sometimes it has been earned and other times – not so much. Thing is, she’s been up there all by herself most of the time when I feel like others have danced just as well (Charlie), with harder choreography. So, the question is – how much complacency is in her fanbase?? I’m sure Maks’ fans are anything but complacent at this point – but the pros fanbase won’t get you the win. Obviously.
There are five weeks of dancing left – I doubt they will start underscoring Meryl, but the question is, will they start giving Charlie the scores he deserves? If they are going to do that, it’s time for them to start the growth arc. If they are determined for Meryl to win…they won’t start scoring Charlie appropriately. I’m quite curious to see what happens. I called Charlie for the win before the season even started – but my prediction kinda hinges on him getting scored appropriately. He sure hasn’t been until now. If Meryl were dancing with Derek, I’m certain she would probably win. I don’t think it’s a sure thing with Maks. I still think Charlie has a real shot.
Another big question I have – why is NeNe getting so much love from the judges?? For all the whining and complaining I see about Amy and her scores, girlfriend can seriously dance AND Derek is giving her actual dances that resemble (strongly) the style they’re supposed to be. Some people still want her marked down for some reason (I have theories, fear being a large component). But the same cannot be said for NeNe. NeNe is putting on good performances (most of the time) but her dances have only been in the stated style about half the time – yet no one has said a word, she’s getting 9s and people bitch about Amy. It’s rather mind boggling. I hate to break it to you folks who are scared of Amy and Derek – when NeNe is getting high scores, it’s MORE likely that your favorite will go home in a shocking elimination. There is not a huge spread between the dancers when EVERYONE is doing pretty well, score wise. Some of you focus on Amy – you should be worried as much or MORE about NeNe. There is a method to their madness, after all. A reason why she’s getting good scores. You better hope they wise up fast. If she’s hitting some metric of popularity which results in overscoring so she sticks around – she’s the one you should be scared of. See Leah Remini staying longer than Christina and Liz. Same thing – over scoring of Leah put her in easy striking distance of Liz. Combine the likely-very-popular Candace at the bottom with the overscored NeNe above her…well, it could get interesting. A comment before we get to this weeks dances… if you claim you hate this site, and then copy what we write verbatim (or copy Courtney’s tweets verbatim), post it to your skating forum or Maks tumblr and take credit for the info, you are a sad, poor thing. Not only are you a hypocrite who spends way more time here than your little friends realize (thanks for the hits!!), but hopefully now your little friends know you got it all from here. 😀 Ya stole it with nary a mention of those of us who actually told you what to say. Tisk tisk. Do you think we don’t see?? Honeys, every time you visit the site, we know where you came from. 😉 We appreciate your visits…we’ll put you on blast next time, we appreciate you so much.
Now, on to some other stuff. NeNe is apparently playing a Madam trying to prevent the randy Tony from getting to her girls. Why do I sense multiple, scantily clad females in this dance? And why have all the dances suddenly become “super sized”?? Rarely do I like it. Val’s cups and saucers were cute and Derek’s wedding. That’s it.
Charlie has a song, apparently, that is not even remotely Latin. Why does this guy keep getting screwed?? I don’t get it. Can we have some normal music please? I don’t like Amy’s song either, so there you go. Read more..

My first team dance post was getting a bit lengthy…so I decided to carry on the discussion here 🙂 I thought I’d take a look at several factors that may affect the outcome of the team dances – things that may affect scores and overall success on each of the teams. Join me, won’t you? 🙂 And be sure to vote in the poll at the bottom!
Just as a reminder, the teams are:
Team Loca: Meryl & Maks, Danica & Val, Amy & Derek, Candace & Mark
Team Vida: Charlie & Sharna, James & Peta, NeNe & Tony
Pro Team Dance Experience:
Derek: 10 wins, 0 ties, 0 losses; average team dance score: 27.65
Mark: 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 tie; average team dance score: 24.6
Peta: 2 wins, 2 losses, 0 ties; average team dance score: 27
Maks: 2 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie; average team dance score: 25.5
Sharna: 1 win, 0 losses, 0 ties; average team dance score: 25
Tony: 1 win, 3 losses, 0 ties; average team dance score: 25.38
Val: 0 wins, 3 losses, 0 ties; average team dance score: 25.33
The writing is kinda on the wall with this one – Derek wins team dances, so he’s a real asset if he’s on your team. Peta may not have as many wins, but the teams she’s been on have pulled in high enough scores that her average team dance score is pretty high. Mark’s average team dance score may be a bit artificially low – it was hard to account for the 4th judges’ score in season 12, so I just removed it – that ended up throwing things off a bit.
Who’s got the edge: Team Loca
Number of couples:
Team Loca: 4 couples
Team Vida: 3 couples
We only have two precedents for this one – season 9 and season 14, and there are pros and cons for both. In season 9, Team Paso had 4 couples and Team Tango had 3; Team Tango beat Team Paso by 4 points, with Louis citing that having fewer couples was easier because there were “fewer egos” and it’s easier to get a smaller number of couples in synch. In season 14, Team Tango had 4 couples while Team Paso had 3 – Team Tango beat Team Paso by 1 point, and Derek said that having more couples allowed them to “create more cool patterns on the floor”. From what I’ve heard from Deep Throat so far, both teams are looking great – but it seems like Team Vida might be having an easier time with the synchronized group sections.
Who’s got the edge: Team Vida
Dance Style:
This gets a bit tricky, as the team dances are freestyles once more and obviously, none of the current celebs have any experience with the freestyle yet. So which pros have experience with the freestyle?
Derek: 7 individual freestyles; 2 team freestyles
Mark: 5 individual freestyles; 0 team freestyles
Maks: 4 individual freestyles; 1 team freestyle
Tony: 3 individual freestyles; 2 team freestyles
Val: 2 individual freestyles; 2 team freestyles
Peta: 1 individual freestyle; 2 team freestyles
Sharna: 0 individual freestyles; 0 team freestyles
Even if they haven’t necessarily WON with every single freestyle they’ve done, I think it’s good for every pro to at least have some experience with the freestyle – and Team Loca has Team Vida beat in that respect.
Who’s got the edge: Team Loca
Music:
Team Loca: “Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin
Team Vida: “The Cup of Life (La Copa de la Vida)” by Ricky Martin
This one is rather subjective, as it’s just a matter of opinion who got the “better” song. “Livin’ La Vida Loca” has been used once before, as Kendra & Louis’ samba in season 12; “The Cup of Life” has been used twice before – once as Melissa & Tony’s salsa in season 8, once as Maria & Derek’s salsa in season 14. Both songs are conducive to both a samba and a salsa beat; there are also certain sections of each that might work with paso doble & cha-cha. Personally, I think all of Ricky Martin’s stuff kinda starts to sound the same after awhile – so I don’t really think either one is better than the other.
Who’s got the edge: TIE
Average individual score:
Team Loca: 25.63
Team Vida: 25.11
This is kinda reaching, but since everyone on the same team gets the same score, it might be worthwhile to look at what their average individual score is as a team. Not a vast difference between them – I would not be surprised if whoever won this team dance won it by only 1 point.
Who’s got the edge: Slight edge to Team Loca…but not by much
COURT’S OVERALL THOUGHTS: On paper, everything seems to be stacked in Team Loca’s favor: they’ve got great choreographers, great dancers, and are getting along well. Apparently Val is even refreshed at how good it feels to work as a team 🙂 But I just can’t shake the feeling that Team Loca is being set up to lose – seems like a lot of emphasis is being placed on the fact that Derek has NEVER lost, and according to our sources, Team Vida is looking really good. We’re also at the point in the season where any potential dark horses (namely James, and to a lesser degree, Charlie) could have a bit of a growth arc and surge into the lead. Gotta love storyboarding. If they aren’t deliberately setting Team Loca up to lose, I would imagine the teams are going to be very, very close in score.
So what are your thoughts? Who do you think has the edge…and who do you think will actually end up winning?
