Val Chmerkovskiy and Daria Chesnokova Dance For The Saratoga Gaming And Raceway (Photos)

Looking at Dancing With The Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy and Daria Chesnokova and without saying a word to describe, you can tell why they were partners in world dance competitions for so long and highly decorated at that. The two recently danced and participated in a meet and greet at the Vapor Night Club at the Saratoga Gaming and Raceway in New York!! You can see a huge gallery of cool pictures covering this event at Albany Alive. Val looks to be such a charmer and passionate about his fans as always.

Maks Chmerkovskiy, Kirstie Alley, Sherri Shepherd, Tony Dovolani Talk DWTS, All Star Season, & More

Entertainment Tonight interviewed Maks at his Birthday bash last Friday night!! He talks of how thankful he is for everyone who came for the event. He remarks on Demi Moore’s recent troubles saying he hopes everyone will leave her in peace so she can get better. Kirstie Alley is interviewed as well. She’s asked on whether she will be Mak’s partner if there is an “Dancing With The Stars All Star Season” which is possibly in the works two seasons from now as you might have read from a previous posting. They interview Tony and his wife. He plugs Victor Cruz for Dancing With The Stars. Check out Sherri Shepherd as well. She is literally dying to dance on Dancing With The Stars (in my opinion!). She remarks of wanting to Samba, but, doesn’t think she can “keep up with the youngsters”. Erin Andrews and Chelsie Hightower gives Maks’ future partners some good advise (and I mean some REALLY good advise!! LOL). Lots more below….

Below is Tony with Extra also interviewing Kirstie. He also asks her on the Dancing With The Stars All Star Season too. I am so game if she will be his partner!!

An ‘Incredible’ And ‘Magical’ Night For Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s Birthday Bash (Photos)

What a great and touching night it must have been at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, NY for Maks Birthday Bash!! Val called it “incredible” at twitter. One of Maks fans described it as “magical”.

To help Maks celebrate, his close friends and family were there…as well as some of his dance partners from Dancing With The Stars including Kirstie Alley and Erin Andrews.

Pictured above is Maks, Kirstie, Val, Tony, and Teddy V. The last I heard at twitter, Maks had teared it up three times over the touching moments.

You can view more fantastic shots of the night at Zimbio. Getty has some great coverage and pics on the night too which include everyone in attendance from Sherri Shepherd, Chelsie Hightower, Erin Andrews, Kirstie Alley, Kurt Warner, and more.

ADDING: ProBeautyNYC at You tube has posted some cool videos from the night. Be sure you check them all out here if interested.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Dishes On Birthday Bash, His Friends, Family, DWTS, and More

If you haven’t noticed at twitter, promotion for Maks 32nd birthday bash in New York City is in full gear. In light of the event which is only a couple of weeks away, Maks did an interview with Kaptur. Maks dishes on everything from Dancing With The Stars, teaching Dance, the surprise guests and more details on his birthday bash (for what he knows and doesn’t know, lol), his friends and family, and yes, his dog Sir Sleep as well. Excellent interview!! Here is just a little take, but, be sure to read the full interview at Kaptur which is well worth the read.

We had to ask Maks: Where does he get his energy?
“I have to admit, this past year has been intense,” says Maks. “Between choreographing, performing on Dancing With the Stars, launching my jewelry line, writing my blog, teaching dance seminars, planning our June Summer Invitational Showcase, working abroad and now planning the upcoming Birthday Showcase, I really haven’t had much time to relax. It was a very action packed year. But there’s two really important things to keep in mind. One, I have amazing business partners and teams around me. I really couldn’t do it all by myself. Two, I was taught to give your all to what you do and to make the most of what opportunities the world gives you. So I do my best to try to do that. Most people who know me know that I work hard and play hard. I always try to fit it all in. But I won’t lie, it felt really good to get away over the holiday break. I closed out 2011 by letting things slow down just a little bit—but not too much,” he laughs.

One thing he will not cut out of his schedule, however, is teaching. What is it about teaching that Maks seems to enjoy?
“Teaching has always just been a part of who I am,” says Maks. “Even as we were developing the Birthday Ballroom Bash story, it really hit home how much teaching is such a huge part of my life. Starting with the Rising Stars Dance Academy, I guess I’ve always enjoyed helping shape and grow others. I taught Val since he was half my size, maybe even smaller. And I have always taken pride in his success because I know just how hard he worked to succeed. I’d been there with Val each step of the way. Don’t get me wrong, Val is successful in his own right. He earned everything he has worked hard for. We’re all proud of him. But it just feels good for me knowing that maybe I helped him become a little stronger. I’ve done the same for Teddy and Nicole Volynets as well as Kiki Nyemchek and about 20 others, who are all like my own little brothers and sisters, my own family. There’s something amazing about helping others and watching them grow up. It feels good to say in some way maybe big or maybe small, that you helped someone else. Through dance, I’ve been able to do that.”

Mak’s Birthday Bash celebration takes place on January 27th. For ticket information on how you can attend, visit Dance With Me Studios.

DWTS Maksim Chmerkovskiy And Friends Dance With Me Studios Ballroom Birthday Bash 2012

On January 27, Dance With Me Studios in New York will be hosting a big birthday ballroom bash for Maks and friends. If interested, you can get ticket information at Dance With Me USA. Tickets range from $75-$200 depending on where you want to sit. What a nice Christmas present for the serious Maksimista fan….as well as fans to Val, Daria, Teddy, Nicole, Tony, and Kirstie who might be attending the event as well.

Speaking of…and according to My Style, Maks intends to focus on his Dance With Me studios in the off season of Dancing With The Stars as well as his new “Maksim” jewelry line which is currently available at JCPenney’s just in time for the holiday season. Of the new line, Maks told My Style, “I like bracelets and leather. I’m into non-denominational rosary beads so that anybody can wear it. We’re doing non-semi-precious metals because it’s more affordable. Nowadays, it’s not about selling a $2,000 diamond. I want to give people the opportunity to purchase a couple things they can enjoy.” You can read more at My Style and see a cool picture of him in his “cold” garb.

Introducing Dancing With The Stars Season 13’s New Pro Val Chmerkovskiy!!

Next up and last in our three new Professional Profiles this Season is the quiet, intense, mysterious, and passionate dancer: Val Chmerkovskiy. As with the other two previous profiles on Tristan MacManus and Peta Murgatroyd, I’m going to ask Courtney and Heidi for their thoughts and predictions at the end of this post and we’d love to hear yours too. Before beginning, I’d like to thank DanceInfo.net, Wikipedia, ABC Dancing With The Stars, I Am Val You Tube, and Val Chmerkovskiy Facebook for helpful information and photos for this post.

Let’s get right to it! Valentin Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy was born March 24, 1986 in Odessa, Ukraine. He is the son to Aleksandr aka Sasha and Larissa, and younger brother to professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Val was just 7 years old when he first started to train as a ballroom dancer and ‘against his will’ mind you. But, Val worked hard regardless and after three years he competed in his first international competition The German Open. He was one of only 2 US couples to participate with his brother, Maks, being the second.

Val won first in the IDSF World Championship when he was 15 and became the first and last American to ever do it. At 19, Val had the privilege of snagging the Blackpool trophy which was an honor he only dreamed about at the time.

But at 23 years old, the rules of competing in Ballroom dancing started to change and for the worst according to Val. He kept competing with his longtime partner Daria Chesnokova (pictured above). Though after fighting the lack of motivation and the new rules to compete, Val decided to retire at 25 and thus came the greatest adventure to be offered to him next….a pro on Season 13 of Dancing With The Stars with first time partner and Italian Model Elisabetta Canalis.

This isn’t Val’s first gig on Dancing With The Stars. He helped to critique his brother Mak’s routines with his celebrity partner Laila Ali in Season 4. Also, in 2006, the two brothers had a dance off: Valentin and Valeriya against Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff. Val has also danced in several pro numbers over the last several Seasons. In Season 10, he did a country western themed routine with his brother Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Edyta Śliwińska and Snejana Petrova (seen above).

In Season 11, Val really steamed up the show with unforgettable and most memorable Dancing With The Stars performance (and one of my favorites of all time) with Mark Ballas dancing and playing his Violin to Britney Spears’s hit song “Toxic.” The two were the greatest rivalries once competing when they were kids, and now here they were battling it out in “strings” on a Dancing With The Stars results show (seen above). You could feel every inch of it which brings us to Val’s second love next to dancing which is making music for which you can view and listen to many of his songs at I Am Val You Tube. Below is his song “White Boy Boogie” which I love. Yes, white kids can rap…and Ukrainian kids at that!!

Just like his brother Maks, this special guy leaves you wanting more. Watch out World! This highly “decorated” competitor and powerhouse performer in multi-talented ways has only just began and we wish him much much success.

Ok, here is Courtney and Heidi with their thoughts!

Courtney: The dynamic between Val & his brother kinda reminds me of me and my younger sister – I’m the outspoken hothead, while my sister is the quiet, pragmatic one.  I actually recall meeting (or, quite literally, bumping into!) Val several years ago at the Ohio Star Ball in Columbus.  I was in the ballroom watching the amateur Latin competition, and got up to use the restrooom, which was located over near the “on-deck” area where the couples who were about to compete were lining up.  While standing in the queue for the ladies room, a heavily tanned, heavily hair-gelled male Latin competitor brushed past me in quite a hurry and accidentally bumped me a bit harder that he likely intended to.  He stopped, turned around, and quickly apologized in a soft Russian accent. “I’m so sorry, miss! Just in a hurry…my heat is starting soon!” It was Val! He smiled quickly and darted off, likely in seach of his partner Valeriya so they could line up for their event.  The entire exchange lasted less than 10 seconds, but I immediately got the impression that he was a guy whose parents had raised him right – unlike so many of the other male competitors, who I often found to be cold, arrogant, and unapproachable.  As for his dancing – in all the years of watching him compete, I always found Val to be exceptionally on-point with his technique & performance quality, especially in comparison to other competitors his age (*cough*MarkBallas*cough*), and perhaps even a bit better than big bro.  He & his old partner, Valeriya, always had the best exhibition dances – he wasn’t afraid to be playful and a bit cheeky.  Check out this cute jive exhibition they did at OSB back in 2008 – Val can be such a ham sometimes. 🙂 They also did a really sexy, slick cha-cha to Prince’s “Kiss”, which of course I cannot find on YouTube because the song is copyrighted :-(, but if you google it I’m sure you can find a clip of the performance.  Overall, I’m excited to see just what Val can bring to the table – I just hope he adapts quickly to the “fluff” of DWTS, since many of the current pros on the show seemed to have an adjustment period when they first joined the cast.  Real ballroom vs. DWTS is definitely a big switch to make!

Heidi: I think Val has the advantage of being Maks’ brother when it comes to adjusting to DWTS fluff versus real ballroom competitions – at least I hope so.  I also hope to see him school Mark in music and dance once again. Hee.  I also get the feeling that, while I don’t find him remotely attractive, I’ll end up preferring him to his big brother.  I have not paid tons of attention to the pre-season media, but my sense is that Val is a bit more down to earth than Maks is – I could certainly be wrong, I’m not a Chmerkovskiy expert by any stretch of the imagination.  I’ve said many times that I think that Maks sort of takes on the personality of his partner which is often a great thing (Kirsti), but it can also be very bad (Erin).  I mean that he’s a bit of an emotional reflector, not that he’s being fake or anything (just to be clear).  I wonder if Val also has that trait or if he’s more even keeled.  Damn, I can’t wait till Monday!!!  🙂

Peta Murgatrord, Tristan MacManus, and Val Chmerkovskiy: Full Profiles Coming Soon!

As you all know, we have three new Professional dancers on Dancing With The Stars Season 13; Peta Murgatrord, Tristan MacManus, and Val Chmerkovskiy!! We hope to do a special feature on each of them in the coming days leading up to the premiere of Dancing With The Stars September 19th. In the meantime, enjoy these performances from the past to see why maybe the producers felt Dancing With The Stars Season 13 was THEIR TIME?!!

Below is Peta Murgatroyd during her run in Burn The Floor in 2009. Check out her sexy, curvy dance lines. It was actually this very video performance that drew my attention to her last year during Season 11. The next thing I knew I was doing a search for her at twitter and facebook wanting to know MORE!;

Tristan MacManus was also in Burn The Floor off and on until the first quarter of 2011. I love this Latin number. I believe Tristan is dancing in the above video as well?;

Lastly, here is Val Chmerkovskiy with his dance partner Daria Chesnokova dancing the Jive in the Dance With Me Soho Studios in 2010. He’s such a powerful and muscular dancer just like his brother Maks!;

Dancing With The Stars Tony Dovolani Albania Documentary, Ballroom on Broadway, And More!!

Tony Dovolani has had a busy summer like the other dancers. As most of you know, he’s been helping Maks to open their new Dance With Me L.A studio as well as helping with the others. This past week, Tony travelled to Albania and Kosova to help film a new documentary on on his homeland’s culture and to promote tourism with Eliza Dushku who recently became an honorary citizen. According to former Dancing With The Stars contestant and Eliza’s boyfriend Rick Fox they all met up in Prishtine for a Dancing With The Stars meet up and Eliza got a dancing lesson from Tony. Here is a picture from Tony’s facebook of he and some of his friends at a Pub in Prishtine. Tony is all smiles.

Stay tuned. This Sunday Tony and Maks will be hosting a new “Dance With Me Soho” production at the Manhattan Center called “Ballroom on Broadway.” Their students will be performing as well as Val Chmerkovskiy (Maks’ brother) and Daria Chesnokova. For more information, go here.

A special thanks for @Marleneb4 and @Lannatexasgal at twitter for their news tips on Tony in Albania!! And thanks to Heidi too for her help with this post!xx
