This weekend Dancing With The Stars pros Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, and Henry Byalikov are dancing at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo, Utah for “THe Vibe and Udo Present MOVE” Show. Below you can watch Lindsay and Witney being interviewed by 4Utah. They talk on the show and give a dance preview. They also talk about Dancing With The Stars a little saying they haven’t heard anything on the new season, but, they have to report back at the middle of February. If you live in the Provo area, be sure to check them out this weekend!
Special thanks to @DmitryDreamTeam, you can catch up on ‘all things’ Dmitry Chaplin at this facebook link. He’s been a busy guy since being on Dancing With The Stars from being on “So You Think You Can Dance”, to being on an episode of “Bones”, to now a web episode “Broken At Love” which you can watch below. He’s also dancing in a few of the new Ballroom With A Twist shows now travelling the country. If interested, see this link for more.
The Reporter Herald interview Dancing With The Stars Tristan MacManus and Emma Slater about their upcoming shows for “Ballroom With A Twist. Below are a couple of up-close and personal takes which describe the show. Too fun….
Visiting by email from a cruise ship, where they are performing, Slater and MacManus shared their thoughts about the upcoming show.
“This is not my first time with ‘Ballroom with a Twist’,” said Slater. “Both Tristan and I have been a part of this fabulous show in the past. It’s wonderful fun, and I love being involved.”
“The talent in the show is mind-blowing, whether it’s the singing or the dancing,” said MacManus. “We have both singers and dancers who rotate in and out for different shows. The energy is always high, and the experience is always different for us, as well as the audience, which is great for keeping the show and the numbers fresh.”
“Ballroom with a Twist” promises something for every lover of dance from jazz to hip-hop, contemporary to ballroom, along with powerful vocals. “My favorite number from the show is called ‘Gravity,'” shared Slater. “Three of the amazing ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ finalists dance together in a beautiful contemporary piece. It’s unbelievable, they are so talented.
“There is also a number sung beautifully by our male vocalist, while a very talented young chap spins on his head! Crazy.”
During the evening, a few audience members will be asked to join the dancers onstage. Those in the audience can dance along as well. “It’s a great interaction between the audience and the cast,” shared Slater.
Both MacManus and Slater come from across the Atlantic. MacManus began dancing in his hometown of Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland, while Slater is from Tamworth in England. “I do absolutely love being here in the U.S. — the weather and opportunity among other things,” said Slater.
She hopes those watching “Ballroom with a Twist” will “enjoy watching dynamic dance live and up close (not possible on TV) and really be inspired to dance at home.”
“People want to come to a show, see something they haven’t before, feel involved and then go home smiling,” said MacManus. “There is nothing better then the next few days after seeing something and still thinking about it and smiling, and for me, that’s what ‘Ballroom with a Twist’ does.”

Isn’t this an adorable picture? Yesterday, despite snowy conditions, @DmitryDreamTeam went to the first Ballroom With A Twist show in Wilmington Delaware. If you’d like to see more fun photos from the show, visit her personal facebook page. Note how she even got autographed pictures from the pros. She said she “loved the show”. A fan from Pure Derek Hough saw the show as well. You won’t want to miss what she wrote at this link. Below are a few instagrams of the pros taken during their stay courtesy of Derek Hough, Peta Murgatroyd, and Cheryl Burke. Brrr, but, so cute and having fun!
ETA: Below is a new radio interview on Ballroom With A Twist with Tony, Peta, and Cheryl. Thanks to @DWTSGossip for this gem. Also, don’t missing seeing DuPont Theatre Facebook for some beautiful high quality photos from the show last night.
ExperiencedSD wrote a fun review on the Ballroom With A Twist show that took place in San Diego last weekend. This is a must read…especially if you plan to attend one of the Ballroom With A Twist shows. Below is a take about the “question and answer” part of the show. Check out what Mark said about Maks. lol Hilarious!!
In the middle of the show, there was a Q&A session with Peta and Mark. It was an open session and anyone in the crowd could ask any question they want. We learned that in Dancing with the Stars, the dancers are paired to their celebrity by height or by personality (which is sometimes usually clashing). We also learned from Mark Ballas that Maks Chmerkovskiy can be as Mark describes it, “pranky,” that in the Mark’s first appearance at DWTS, Maks cup-checked him!
More at ExperiencedSD including pictures of Mark and Peta!!

Who is planning to see “Ballroom With A Twist”? Producer Scott Stander told PureDWTS that we will see “a very special show as we have a few people in covering for some cast members. We are doing a performance in San Francisco with Val Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd. So a lot of surprises.” Surprises indeed. I can’t. I plan to see the Wyoming show. If you haven’t got tickets to a show in your area, see this link as they are travelling all over the country. Scott along with Cheryl Burke also talked with Delaware Online. Below is a take from the article on the show….
“Ballroom” has “kind of evolved,” says producer Scott Stander from a concept that began with: What do you get when you combine three television reality shows? “You get ‘Ballroom With a Twist,’ ” he says.
This is the first time that Burke, a California native from the San Francisco area, will be on the “Ballroom” tour, although she remembers visiting Wilmington with the “Dancing With The Stars” tour a few years ago, but the show left after a night, she says. This time around, she’s looking forward to being in Delaware for a week.
“I have no idea what to expect on the show,” Burke says, “But I know I’ll be dancing with Tony Dovolani, Derek Hough and Peta Murgatroyd. A lot of my friends are part of ‘Ballroom with a Twist,’ and have been for the last few years. I’m excited to be able to dance in front of live people and just have a good time. For me, when it comes to dancing, it’s always better to perform in a more intimate setting like a theater.”
Dancing in a big arena requires big performances, she says. But dancing in a theater allows the audience to see the interplay between the dancers and appreciate the emotion and subtle moves.
This show will start with a Broadway-style number. During the night, fans will see dances that include samba, waltzes, foxtrots, quickstep and jive.
“If you’re a fan of these shows, you’ll be tickled pink,” Stander says. “If you’ve never watched the shows, you will end up a fan of those shows because of the amazing talent on the stage. What they do with their bodies is amazing. Dancing is all different these days, very athletic.”
The show will a question-and-answer session with the stars.
“I do expect to be getting a lot of questions,” says Burke, who has been on “Dancing With The Stars” for 15 seasons. The questions always include things like whether they pick their own partners, how much work they do and who their favorite partners were. (Jack Osbourne and Emmett Smith were two of them).
“Ballroom With a Twist” is designed to be the kind of show you can bring kids to, or you can bring grandma, and they’ll all have a good time, Stander says.
“You’ll see flashy costumes, you’ll see some great production numbers and some great singing,” he says. “The audience will get up and have a good time and dance.” One of the numbers is a Cirque du Soleil-style number featuring Cirque performer Eric Newton to soaring vocals.

Let the “Ballroom With A Twist” news begin! If you visit the Delco Times, you can read a nice little lead up to the show from Peta Murgatroyd. She also discusses how her dancing dreams came true and what it’s like working on Dancing With The Stars. The pic above below is of she and Mark Ballas at rehearsals for Ballroom With A Twist this past weekend in San Diego courtesy of Mark. Note: If you go to any of the “Ballroom With A Twist” shows coming up and would like to write a guest blog, send pics, or videos, write to us here or at Pere Derek Hough by using our Contact forms or dm us at twitter. We appreciate anything you’d like to send us and would love to feature it.
Murgatroyd, speaking by telephone from San Diego, said she usually takes a break after a “Dancing with the Stars” season, but that “Ballroom with a Twist” provided a chance for fun she could not resist.
“I love to work, and I love travel. This show allows me to do both.
Murgatroyd also said she loves working in live theater. She earned her job as one of the professional dancers on “Dancing with the Stars” after a producer saw her in the ballroom dance show, “Burn the Floor,” on Broadway.
“Broadway had always been my dream,” Murgatroyd said. “From the time I started dancing, and that was at the age of 4, I wanted to be in a Broadway show. Coming to New York in ‘Burn the Floor’ was particularly amazing because the show was so well-received, and I had the sequence where I danced blindfolded in ‘Weatherstorm.’
“My dream came true when I was in my early 20s,” Murgatroyd continued. “I wondered what could top the experience of being on Broadway and being praised for my work in New York. Then, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ came along. I was offered a contract and did not have to audition. The work would be a challenge. I’m not sure that the general public knows it, but the professional dancers are responsible for every aspect of the performances they do with their partners.
“We not only choreograph each dance, but we select the music and design the set and costumes. We can talk to the wardrobe department to get help with our ideas, but when it comes to the music and the dance, outside help is against the rules. Every Tuesday, you wake up with that wonderful but daunting feeling that you have to start all over again thinking of your partner, conceiving a dance, and working out the sound and look you want.
This is pretty cool! Dancing With The Stars Dmitry Chaplin choreographed the half time performance for the 2013 Holiday Bowl. You can watch how he trained the performers and came up with the concept at Educational Travel. And below are the results. Thanks to @DMITRYDREAMTEAM for sending!!
Hey All! Below is the schedule for “Ballroom With A Twist 2″ which is currently on tour with rotating pros from Dancing With The Stars. So, be sure to see Ballroom With A Twist! It’s a lively and fun night of entertainment!

It’s that time of year once again, boys and girls – time for Pro Watch. I’m starting it a bit earlier than normal because we’ve gotten confirmation about Derek and a maybe about Maks earlier than ever before, as I recall. While Derek often knows very early, he’s not usually big on sharing – that seems a bit different this year. He’s confirmed he’s back with both the LA Times and Access Hollywood when they asked him. Now, it’s possible that this could just mean he’s open to it, not that he has a partner, but I suspect if he wants to do it, he gets to do it.
Also, at the TCA Summer Tour, Paul Lee, the ABC President of Entertainment, was asked about Maks and he gave an answer that was interpreted by differently by different outlets. No shock there. Access Hollywood said he said Maks “may well be back” and TV Guide said he said “likely” be back – now, call me crazy, but those are actually different interpretations. So, I am going with “maybe likely” as a happy medium. Particularly after last season, when Maks himself was saying he was back and then he wasn’t. And sorry Maks fans – it’s not a sure thing because, contrary to your world view, the ratings didn’t actually go down because Maks wasn’t there – they have been on a constant downward trend for a few seasons now, including those when Maks was present. We’ve been writing about it for a few seasons now, including after All Stars which was down 20% from season 14 – Maks was on both seasons. Sixteen was lower again = downward TREND.
As for the rest?? Well, Lizzie was asking who we wanted Val to dance with this season, but that could well be a “if we talk like it’s true it will become true” PR style. I suspect he’ll be back though. I wouldn’t count on Gleb or Louis…and maybe not even Tony. I really think they need to give Henry a shot, and I expect that both Mark and Tristan will have spots. As for the ladies, I suspect that Cheryl and Karina, and possibly Sharna, are the only sure things. Everyone else seems like they could go either way.
The big question mark for me?? Will there be a troupe?? I suspect there will be, although we won’t see them nearly as much early in the season. Don’t worry, Troupe fans – if what Paul Lee says about a possible return to two shows a week in the spring is true, then all may not be lost.
ETA1 Vogue here with an UPDATE: According to Enstarz, Val Chmerkovskiy will be dancing in Dancing With The Stars Season 17. He not only told them he will be dancing, he also told them his dream partners as well as saying, “I just want a partner who is willing to work and has a strong work ethic” and “You can be a supermodel, an actress, an athlete… but to be a good partner, you have to be willing to put in the work.” Be sure to read the link for more!
ETA2: Chelsie could be “possibly in”. See this post for more details!!
ETA3 Vogue here again: Due to this tweet by Sharna, we suspect she might be “possibly in”.
ETA4 Vogue again: After discussing this with Court and the way she read Sharna’s tweet, we’ve decided together to take out “Possibly In” for Sharna. The pros may be posting optimistically looking forward to season 17 (or the craziness of it, etc), but, that doesn’t mean they are “in” or are “possibly in”.
ETA4: This is sad. I hate to even report this, but, according to US Weekly, Kym Johnson won’t be dancing this season. She tells the magazine, that she has an “amazing work opportunity back home in Australia.” More here. Thanks to Lori for the heads up. Also, Chelsie tweeted of receiving “good and bad news”. We have no idea what she’s referring to, but, we’re changing her status to “unknown”.
ETA5: Karina is IN per @DWTSGossip!
ETA6: @DWTSGossip is also reporting Peta, Cheryl, Tony, Val, and Mark “in” as well.
ETA7: The hits just keep on coming, as DWTSGossip tweets that Maks “will not be returning” for season 17. -Court-
ETA8: The day of the furious pro watch updates continues, as DWTSGossip reveals that Anna & Chelsie are out and that Lindsay & Emma are in…although the “I guess” at the beginning of her tweet seems to leave a bit of margin for error…-Court-
ETA9: And now we have a bit of news on Henry. We think he’s “Possibly in the Troupe” or been “Promoted” because of what was tweeted in this twitter exchange. As Court just wrote to me privately, the problem with the guys right now is that we don’t know if any of the male troupe members are getting promoted. So, Henry may be in the troupe or he may have gotten promoted based on the tweet. In conclusion, we’re going to side with caution and assume it’s the troupe. -Vogue and Court
ETA10 Vogue: DWTSGossip is reporting Sharna is also “in”! She’s also reporting via twitter that she knows for a fact Sasha is not a Pro “as of now”. @Dwtsgossip writes to us that Sasha may very well still be in the running. Also, Tristan and Gleb are not confirmed yet.
ETA11: Oksana is out via Val’s twitter. Though the tweet has now been deleted. So, we’re going to mark her as “possibly out”.
ETA12: Just a little update on Troupe member Julian Tocker. He has tweeted that he won’t be dancing full time because of the new format, but, we’ll still see him around. Sad as it makes you wonder if it will be the same for some or all of the troupe members? Also, and if there is a full time troupe, how many will there be in it?
ETA13: Some good news and some bad news today (depending how you look at it and who are your favorite pros). @DWTSGossip is reporting Tristan is “in”, but, Gleb” is “out” (sad, I was hoping to see him back). So, what does this mean for the 6th male spot left? Will it be filled by a returning Pro (Louis? or did they change their mind and decide to make Maks a pro?), a promotion for a troupe member (Sasha or Henry?), or will it be someone entirely new? Penny for your thoughts!
ETA14: Guess what Kids? @DWTSGossip says she got mixed up and Gleb is IN! YAY!
ETA15: I’m baaaaacccckkkk!! And here to report that @dwtsgossip just tweeted “Sasha dancing with Snookie?? Mark out??” Clearly, those are question marks, so don’t get too excited. If true, good for Markie – time to go full bore on that music career, bud. -Heidi
ETA16: And Markie is in…and Sasha may not be. @dwtsgossip can’t confirm him, but he/she can confirm Mark. Again, certain sources out there have a piss poor track record – dwtsgossip is not one of those, and neither is TMZ. I’ll leave it at that. But seriously people -always consider the source. And remember no one is infallible. Don’t get worked up until September 4th. p.s. see mark’s tweet to dwtsgossip.
ETA17: Heidi here to tell you that a few spots in Pro Watch may just be WRONG. Dead wrong. Sorry, that’s all I can say right now. We’re in for one surprise tomorrow and a couple other mild surprises. Maybe – take it with a grain of salt as usual when mysterious sources appear.
ETA18: Errr…well, the cat seems to be out of the bag on some other sites (and Heidi is already in bed), so here it goes: Lindsay has allegedly been downgraded to troupe along with Gleb, Sasha has allegedly been upgraded to pro from the troupe, and one of the “non-troupe lurkers” I mentioned almost a month ago, Tyne, has allegedly been fast-tracked straight to pro. Witney & Henry remain in the troupe, which is now only 4 strong. I’m not exactly happy with this new development (especially since Tyne, to my knowledge, is just a contemporary dancer), but I’m interested to see what you guys’ thoughts are…and keep in mind, this does seem to contradict some of what we’ve already heard from reputable sources, so take it with a grain of salt. -Court-
