Be sure to watch Paul Mitchell’s Shall We Dance on Ice this Saturday, February 13th or on Saturday February 27th on ABC. It includes Dancing With The Stars pros Chelsie Hightower, Dmitry Chaplin, Anna Trebunskaya and Damian Whitewood. Rumer Willis, Meryl Davis, and Charlie White are also part of the show. Below is a fun promo.
It’s that time of year again and who knows what kind of funky will go down this season. Will Derek finally hang up his DWTS shoes? Will Artem get hosed again in favor of the ever annoying Val? Will Sasha finally get his chance? Will Sharna continue to follow in the wrong footsteps, making unwise statements? Who will take Allison’s spot? These questions and more will hopefully be answered soon. 🙂
I don’t want to hear about Jenna being dance captain. I think that is likely decided among the dancers themselves and I doubt it has any significance in regard to the show – maybe she’ll be a pro, maybe she won’t. Derek and Julianne’s dance captain was someone you’ve likely never heard of. So what?
Kristyn Burtt claims that the pros have been told rehearsals start on February 22 – it remains to be seen if that is true or if it actually happens. Last season was so…fluid…that we’ll have to wait and see. I do think we’ll start to hear stuff from those with a lack of ability to keep their mouths shut. 🙂 There are some Derek fans that worry his media sweep happening next week will include an announcement about his status. The media sweep is because of Disneyland 60 – if an announcement happens, it will likely be that he’s out. If he says nothing or hems and haws, it might be that he’s in. He’s a tough call, as usual Read more..
Stay tuned for Episode 8 of “Agent Carter”. Entertainment Weekly is reporting Louis Van Amstel has choreographed a dance that will be featured. Not only that, several pros from Dancing With The Stars and other dancers will be performing. Read on for details. I don’t watch this show, but, I may have to watch this episode.
Here’s the deal: “Episode 8 ends with a cliffhanger where Peggy and Jarvis [James D’Arcy] get in big trouble and are knocked out,” executive producer Michele Fazekas tells EW. “Episode 9 begins with a dream sequence that starts in black and white — by the way, [Atwell] was made for black and white. She looks like Rita Hayworth. She looks spectacular.”
Then, in true Wizard of Oz fashion, everything goes into color, leading into a full-on Broadway musical dance number that features an original song from lyricist David Zippel and composer Christopher Lennertz, in conjuction with executive producers Tara Butters and Fazekas.
Choreographed by Dancing with the Stars’ Louis van Amstel, the sequence features a number of pros from DWTS, including van Amstel, Dmitry Chaplin, Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, Sasha Farber and Damian Whitewood. Dancers Robert Roldan, Malene Ostergaard, Amanda Balen, Serge Onik, Jenya Shatilova, Lacey Escabar, Alla Kocherga and Paul Kirkland also join them.
Be sure to see Ballroom With A Twist if you can in a city near you! Below is Dmitry Chaplin and Chelsie Hightower talking all about it…

Starring Anna Trebunskaya and Dimitry Chaplin of “Dancing with the Stars” – and featuring vocals by Marcela Rios – FOREVER TANGO features 12 world-class tango dancers and an on-stage 11-piece orchestra anchored by the bandoneón – the accordion-like instrument that is the mainstay of tango music – in an evening that celebrates the passionate music and dance of Argentina.

VIP tickets are available for $125 and include a meet-and-greet with Trebunskaya and Chaplin (90 minutes prior to performance), preferred seating and a FOREVER TANGO CD. “San Francisco has one of the most vibrant and active tango scenes outside of Buenos Aires,” says Luis Bravo, creator and director of FOREVER TANGO. “Ever since our first engagement in 1994, FOREVER TANGO has captured the hearts and passion of the San Francisco Bay Area. We look forward to our return engagement this December!”
Sensuous and sophisticated, the tango inhabits a world where everything can be said with the flick of a leg, the tug of a hand, the tap of a foot and the arch of an eyebrow. Hailed as “a must-see!” by the New York Times, FOREVER TANGO was voted “Best Touring Musical” by Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle in San Francisco where it played an unprecedented 92 weeks at the Theatre on the Square and has returned season after season. Truly an international event, FOREVER TANGO was also awarded the coveted Simpatia Prize at the 1996 Spoleto Festival in Italy. FOREVER TANGO opened on Broadway in June of 1997 for what was expected to be an eight-week engagement, ran for 14 months and has since performed on Broadway on three separate occasions.

Ballroom With A Twist Cast Meets The Cast Of “Ruthless! The Musical”, Photos Of DWTS Dmitry Chaplin, Chelsie Hightower, And More
In more Ballroom With A Twist news, the cast attended the hit off Broadway show “Ruthless! The Musical” while in New York City this week. To view a fun gallery of backstage shots including photos of former Dancing With The Stars pros Chelsie Hightower and Dmitry Chaplin, see BroadwayWorld.com. Ballroom With A Twist producer Scott Stander advises everyone to see this show if you are in New York City. It’s “so much fun”!
The cast of Off-Broadway’s smash hit Ruthless! The Musical met the stars of the live dance sensation BALLROOM WITH A TWIST, which is currently touring the country. And the sparks flew! It was a love-fest for the talented showmen and women after the August 10th performance of RUTHLESS! when the stars of both of both shows mingled and posed for photos.
According to the Greater Patchogue, Gilles Marini has been added to the cast of “Ballroom With A Twist” from Aug. 12 – 16 in Patchogue, NY. You can even meet him…
Not only is Marini part of the cast in the interactive celebration of song and dance called Ballroom with a Twist — which is running from Aug. 12-16 in Patchogue through Gateway Playhouse — attendees might even get to chat or dance with him.
They’d get to meet the other performers at Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts as well.
Those include Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower and others from the show Dancing with the Stars, as well as past participants of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. (See video from Wednesday’s warmups.)
In a pre-opening night interview Wednesday, we asked Marini if he was aware the local ladies had been asking about him.
“Saying like, what? What is he not wearing?” the French model responded.
“I’m very excited to do the show,” Marini continued. “People get involved. It’s not only watching and that’s it. There’s a lot more to it, that’s why we call it Ballroom with a Twist, because we’re making people involved.”
So how would admirers of his work and his, um, ability to shower respond to getting so up close and personal with him?
“I think the response is enjoyment and they realize we are very much human,” he continued. “People see the people from the movie industry or whatever it is, not too accessible, but we all become one. Whenever people come to the show we all become one.”
Here we are again!! It’s about that time of year, folks.
And, as usual, the pros that I don’t want to be in, are already in. Or in Derek’s case….mostly in. 🙂 He’s been telling fans in Meet and Greets that he’s likely going to be on but doesn’t want to confirm in case something happens to change that. DWTSGossip says that he did indeed say yes to this season – but as she correctly pointed out, he’s said no before and it turned into a yes. But, this is Derek’s life right now (many, MANY irons in the fire) – he’s not doing it for PR, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen. Drives me crazy. 🙂 I’ll be writing a blog soon on PureDerekHough.com about my Meet and Greet and how he answered a particular question I asked him that bodes very well for his future.
Val has also said he’ll be back and, as reigning champ, that’s no surprise. He also doesn’t seem to have the options that Derek does. I also will be curious to see how much they pimp and manipulate for him and his partner, now that he actually has a MBT. This could be one of the more interesting things about this season – if their behavior toward him changes, now that it’s mission accomplished. Someone please explain to me why Sharna or Emma don’t get the pimpage treatment?? Their social media accounts can’t touch the men’s, but still.
What about Mark? I expect him back as it helps his music career, and now his studio, for him to be on the show. I think it’s about time for him to have another shot at the MBT again – it’s not like he’s been handed ringers the past couple seasons (unlike some), he’s just been surprised and fortunate, like Derek has in the past. But I haven’t seen any talk from him on the matter. Read more..
