After doing Good Morning America yesterday, our three finalists headed to The View where they were interviewed about their unions and journey on Dancing With The Stars. They also danced and brought the house down. Below is Val and Kelly dancing their Paso Doble. You can watch more in the full episode at The View’s official website.
I always love these. Check out Kelly’s good luck bracelet that Val gave her. Melissa screams while Tony gets sentimental. Derek and Shawn talk of the ending flip which they never did before.
Dancing With The Stars Louis Van Amstel is back with a new blog at ABC. He reviews last night’s dances and gives an update on he and Sabrina. He also gives us a little preview for the performances tonight. This is going to be interesting, hmmm?
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the entire cast, except for the final three couples, had to do all group rehearsals on Sunday. Even though it was a crazy long day of rehearsal we had so much fun, joking, laughing, and pranking each other all day. I actually can’t believe with all that going on we were still able to be productive. Kuddos to Lacey Schwimmer who choreographed the finale group number and kept us all in line when necessary.
During tonight’s finale, the two group dances — “Gangnam Style” and “Call Me Maybe” — will be performed again with former competitors Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson replacing finalists Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy and Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower and Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya taking the place of Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough and Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani. I have to say seeing Joey and Kym do “Gangnam style” is absolutely hilarious. That routine was made for him. I laughed so hard when I saw it during camera blocking.
Tonight the champions will be revealed after they dance the unpredictable “Instant dance,” which is either a Samba, Cha Cha or Jive. No one knows which one they will have until they pull the dance out of a hat at the beginning of the show. It’s going to be very interesting!
Also coming up tonight, the eliminated couples will each perform a routine, either an existing dance or a brand new one. Sabrina and I will dance our “Wanted” Rumba, which was so special to both of us. (Hopefully many of you who had no power due to Hurricane Sandy to watch will enjoy this emotional Rumba!) There will also be kids dancing with some of the celebrity couples. These kids are fearless and amazing. You’re going to love it.
You can read more in detail at ABC.
Last year’s champ Donald Driver was a guest on Good Morning America today. He reviews Monday night’s finale dances on Dancing With The Stars. He thinks Shawn Johnson stole the show. He also talks of Melissa and how she deserved her “30′s, but, he still thinks Shawn will win. He supports Shawn and Derek’s quickstep and the risk of doing it without any changes because it’s all about the fan votes at the end of the day. Donald also comments for how he would like to see Melissa win because it would be her first mirror ball.
“Still the champ” …Donald Driver. You can watch his interview in full at Good Morning America HERE.
It’s so good to see him and his big SMILE again!
This season, we opted to do things a bit differently – as we have with just about every other regular feature we do each season, since the format is a bit wacky, to say the least First, we’ve divided WWIB into two parts – mainly to accomodate the fact that Kirstie & Maks’ and the 13th couple’s (who we now know to be Sabrina & Louis) promo photos have yet to be released, but also to buy us some time for the labor-intensive task of finding good pictures for some of these Secondly, we’ve included the couples’ promo photos from their original seasons for comparison as well. But as always, we’ve offered up our usual
snark commentary on each of the costumes, for your enjoyment
Battle of the turquoise & black lace corset dress/Kelly & Alec vs. Kelly & Val: Kelly & Alec’s season 1 promo pic vs. Kelly & Val’s season 15 promo pic vs. Edyta in the season 9 pro tango demo
Courtney: The Iceman cometh! Wow, even Alec’s promo pic screams “I have no emotions” to me. And while Kelly is a bit better, I still wish she’d actually smile in her promo pics – the whole “smoldery non-smile” she does just seems like she’s trying too hard to me. And I’m probably the only one that feels this way, judging from some of everyone’s initial comments on the promo photos, but I’m not really all that wild about Kelly & Val’s pic…you’ll see I’m not much of a fan of the couples that went the “smoldery” route with their promo pix. As for the costume itself – gotta go with Edyta on this one. Granted, it’s hard to hold a candle to Edyta in pretty much ANY costume, but I think I like it better with a lace skirt, as opposed to a fringed one. And while I was cursing under my breath while putting this edition together about how BAD some of the costumes have gotten since Randall left, I thank my lucky stars we’re not still stuck with Designs to Shine, who costumed the first season. Can we say “tacky”?
Heidi: Val sez, “You…are sooo sexy.” To which Kelly sez, “You are sexy, but I am sleeping with my cousin’s best friend’s husband’s brother and am simply toying with you as a cover to hide our true looove….” That is my long winded way of saying, Kelly is a soap actress…they only do smolder. Sometimes well, sometimes not – and Val is a huge step up from Alec in terms of emotion and Kelly has evolved to smoldering with her mouth *closed*. The dress you ask? I go with Edyta sans fishnets. Although I think it’s cuter in the shorter length.
The verdict: Just say no to soap opera smolder. Read more..

So this past week, Dancing With The Stars pro Chelsie Hightower travelled to Indianapolis, Indiana to help with Sugar and Bruno Apparel’s Annual Dance Camp. Kathryn McCormick, the star of the upcoming Universal Pictures movie, ‘Step Up Revolution’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ alumni also headlined the event. Dancers participated in a dozen classes and activities, including a FLASH MOB that was held on June 22nd which you can watch below. This is fun. I love Flash Mobs and Chelsie was in her prime as always.
