Dancing With The Stars All Star Title Shoot Interviews And ABC Title Shoot Promo (Videos)

Thanks to Access Hollywood today, here are some interviews that took place during the Dancing With The Stars All Star Title shoots a couple of weeks ago. These are great. If they post more, we’ll be sure to add them. Also, before you watch the interviews below, be sure you see THIS ABC TITLE SHOOT PROMO TOO!! A MUST!!! Ok, onto the Access Hollywood interviews. If for some reason the videos don’t work, you can see them at Access Hollywood.

First, Mark and Bristol talk of the trainwrecks they had the first time they danced. Mark is excited for how great Bristol looks this time. He says they will take it week by week and will look forward to each challenge. Bristol thinks that’s the best attitude to have going into it.

Here is Chelsie and Helio! Helio discusses the good shape he’s in since he’s been racing. Hopefully, this will give him an edge in the competition. Chelsie is confused about what kind of racer he is.

Being Melissa is a mother now, she has her priorities, but, she’s hoping to dance well. She wants to stay healthy and not break Tony’s nose again. Tony wants them to challenge themselves. They are the underdogs and he wants the fans and the judges behind them.

Pamela says she’s looking forward to being put into uncomfortable postitions again. 😯 Tristan giggles. She can still do the splits. Tristan keeps giggling. They are excited to be dancing together.

You can see Pamela and Tristan dancing in this one (Thanks for the heads up JustMe)….

Exclusive to Entertainment Weekly, Dancing With The Stars has a new on-line Emmy campaign video to help them win for “Outstanding Reality Competition” which they’ve been nominated for six times without a win. They’ve decide to use this season’s All Stars cast to help them make a pitch for it. Check it out at Entertainment Weekly. It’s a MUST SEE!! Pamela Anderson oozes. Drew Lachey is a hoot at the end. Wow, and did you know 500 people work behind the scenes? 😯

The Emmy Awards take place on Sunday, September 23rd on ABC at 7:00pm ET. To view a list of all the Emmy nominations for Dancing With The Stars this year (and some reactions), see our previous posting here.

Thanks to @LinzeyReed for the heads up on the video.

Dancing with the Stars 2012 Emmy Nominations!!

And the nominees are….

OUTSTANDING HOST

TOM BERGERON
Cat Deely
Phil Keogan
Ryan Seacrest
Betty White

Jeff Probst not nominated and he usually wins. I would say Tom or Cat were a shoe in, if not for Betty White.

OUTSTANDING REALITY PROGRAM

DANCING WITH THE STARS
So You Think You can Dance
The Amazing Race
Top Chef
Project Runway
The Voice

TAR wins this one every season.

OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY

Travis Wall, Without You (DWTS)
Stacey Tookey, SYTYCD
Christopher Scott, SYTYCD
Spencer Liff, SYTYCD
Joshua Bergnasse, Smash

I don’t know whether to rant about this now or save it for later. I KNEW when they had Travis on DWTS that our choreographers were going to get shut out of this category. I predicted it back when the show was on this last season. Let’s just say I’m pissed off at this nomination and I’m pissed off at this category – it is unbelievably slanted toward anything that is not ballroom. They didn’t even list the nomination ballots on the website like they did for everything else. I spent a long time looking for it.

OUTSTANDING HAIR STYLING FOR A MULTI CAMERA SERIES OR SPECIAL

DWTS for episode 1407 (season 14, week 7)

OUTSTANDING LIGHTING DESIGN FOR A VARIETY SERIES

DWTS for Episode 1307

OUTSTANDING MAKE UP FOR A MULTI CAMERA SERIES

DWTS for Episode 1307

OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL DIRECTION, CAMERAWORK, VIDEO CONTROL FOR A SERIES

DWTS for Episode 1410A

That one makes me chuckle a bit, considering how often Courtney and I put camera gaffes in our Cheesecake Awards. 😀

That was all the nominations I saw – now Vogue will go behind me and make sure I didn’t leave anything or anyone out. And look at the Choreo again, would ya?? I think it drove me temporarily insane and I might have missed something. 🙂

UPDATE: Vogue here with some Emmy nomination reactions from Tom Bergeron, Travis Wall, and the Dancing With The Stars Make-Up Team….

Tom tweeted, “Probst will still find a way to win this thing!” He’s a crack up as always.

From ET, Travis Wall said, “I can’t believe that our dance company’s (Shaping Sound) first performance on TV got an Emmy nomination. I am elated! It’s amazing to have a nomination two years in a row but it’s surreal to have this nomination with my best friends!”

Also, from the Dancing With The Stasrs Make-up Team at facebook, they wrote: “Great news today! The Dancing with the Stars Makeup Team has been nominated for an Emmy Award!!! We hope to bring it home for a 2nd time. Please wish us luck!!!”

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Court’s DWTS Las Vegas Adventure (Live Show Review & Other Miscellanery)

As many of you know, I was in Las Vegas last weekend and had the pleasure of seeing the DWTS live show at the Tropicana – which, of course, I will review for you guys, since certain other individuals *cough*JOHN*cough* haven’t managed to write the 2nd half of their review of the premiere of said show 😉 This post could get a bit wordy, as I took quite a few notes (and just have a really good memory, to boot) and I’ll throw in a few other possibly-unrelated-to-DWTS details for context, as well as some general Vegas info, since some of you have asked about my trip – so if you’re only interested in my review of the show, feel free to skip the next few paragraphs.  And if you hate spoilers (i.e. you want to be COMPLETELY surprised when you see the show), I’d either just skip this post altogether or just read my overall take at the bottom – because I’m not holding back.  You’ve been warned 😉 And special thanks go to Heidi, for helpin’ a girl out with some picture merges that were driving me cray-cray 😛

So why was I in Vegas in the first place, you ask? My best friend Kendra is getting married at the end of July, and she wanted a bachelorette party for the ages – so naturally, we HAD to go Vegas 🙂 There were 12 of us altogether (11 rowdy bachelorettes and 1 gay bachelor, who I must say put us all to shame with how fabulously he was dressed the entire trip ;-)), and the majority of us stayed at the Flamingo, since we were able to get a great rate on standard rooms – with 4 girls to a room, it was only $82 total for each of us for 3 nights, which is pretty awesome for a well-known hotel on the strip that isn’t a total dive.  Overall, I wouldn’t say the Flamingo is a particularly special or ritzy hotel (if that’s what you’re looking for, I’d go with the Bellagio, Palazzo, or Venetian…but be prepared to shell out big $$$), but if you’re on a budget, it’s certainly more than sufficient – the rooms are clean and the decor is kitchy & cute (think 1960’s, Rat Pack, original Ocean’s Eleven – lots of dots, stripes, retro furniture, and of course, pink :-)).  I’m very into the nostalgia of Vegas, so the Flamingo appealed to me in that it was originally built by infamous mobster Bugsy Siegel, and legend has it that the actual motive behind his murder was to change the management of the Flamingo.  But anyway – if you’re in Vegas, I definitely recommend trying their Paradise Garden Buffet – it’s pretty affordable, as far as buffets in Vegas go, and is quite good…especially the brunch buffet.  Plus the views of their courtyard and flock of live flamingoes are gorgeous 🙂 Also at the Flamingo? Donny & Marie Osmond’s live show – I didn’t see it (no time, and honestly, not much of a desire), but I did see these in the lobby:

The one on the left is Donny’s costume from his freestyle with Kym in season 9, as well as his MBT (and yes, according to the guest services director that I asked, it is his real MBT – apparently he insisted it be put in the case with his costume); the one on the right is Marie’s dress from her quickstep with Jonathan in season 5 (and one of those freaky dolls she designs – guess they had to put SOMETHING there when they found out that Donny wanted to display his MBT, although I’m not sure why they didn’t display this doll instead).  I found Marie’s costume pretty unremarkable up close – for as fabulous as it looked on the show, upon further scrutiny, it’s really just a tan silk gown with some gems glued on; but Donny’s suit is very well-made and clearly took a lot of work.  Interesting how different the costumes look on tv vs. in person (more on that later). PureDWTS Personal Interview With The Passionate And ‘Gypsy At Heart’ Sharna Burgess

We have an exclusive “one on one” personal interview with Dancing With The Stars Troupe member Sharna Burgess. As most of you know, I love the Troupe!! Not only do we get to see new dancing talent and a way to see even more dancers dancing on the show, they are the future of Dancing With The Stars as we have seen so far with the addition of the amazing pros Peta Murgatroyd and Tristan MacManus. So, without further ado, below is Sharna on her life and career so far for how and when she began dancing. When I read her answers, I was amazed at how much work she’s done on other dancing and movie projects and Dancing With The Stars “behind the scenes”. I also loved what she said about her other interests, being “a gypsy at heart” and why, and her compassion for her pets and animal rescue in general. Also, did you know she was the lead Latin Choreographer for “StreetDance 2 3D“? She also says there are some amazing things coming up for Dancing With The Stars in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy and if you have any further questions you’d like to ask and know about Sharna, leave them below in the comments section (as well as your thoughts) and we’ll be sure she receives them and feature them at Pure Dancing With The Stars in another new post in the coming weeks. So, below is the beautiful Sharna….

To begin, you are such a beautiful and passionate dancer, how long have you been dancing? How were you inspired to dance and who is your greatest dancing mentor?

Thank you!! Wow I’ve been dancing now for about 20 years (quite frightening how fast that’s gone!). I started when I was 6 with jazz, ballet and tap, and I was 8 when I started ballroom. I was a very active kid, in between singing into hairbrushes and making up dance routines in my lounge room, I was outside climbing trees, riding bikes and playing with all the kids in my neighborhood. I grew up in a country town called Wagga Wagga(Australia) until I was 12, so I was blessed to have a lot of freedom.

I kind of fell into dancing because I was that kid that was in everything. Sports teams, dance class, gymnastics, and swimming. I was always busy doing something. And I had potential for all of it. But even when you’re that young, something sticks to you more then the other. When I was 12 we moved to Sydney and it was too difficult to try and continue everything, simply put we couldn’t afford it in the big city. So I chose dance, it wasn’t difficult, I knew what I wanted the most. I found my passion, and I didn’t need the rest of it.

Its very difficult to pick a mentor, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the worlds best and most respected ballroom dancers, and each of them special for their own strengths. I think possibly, the man who helped me find who I was as a dancer was Jason Gilkison. He taught me to discover myself through dance. It was quite an amazing transformation, realizing that being different and unique is a strength not a disadvantage.

My greatest idols however!! I think everybody in this industry will mention Michael Jackson, and I am no exception to that. I respect and admire creative individuality, innovation and breaking the rules.

Taking a look back to your first competition dance: what was it like and what do you remember the most about it? Also, what is your greatest memory looking back at your competition days?

LOL!!! BIG HAIR…. BIG BIG HAIR! That’s what I remember most 🙂   My first competition I was in a lime green costume, my mum was fussing over me with lipstick and hair, making everything perfect. And my Grandma and Dad had THE proudest looks on their faces I think I’ve ever seen. I danced right in front of them on the floor, and I can still hear my dads voice cheering “COME ON MICHAEL AND SHARNA”. It wasn’t long after that we were traveling up and down Australia doing all the bigger competitions, and despite my young age, I had goals, I wanted to win… I wanted to be the best. It’s kind of special to remember that first day, my parents are my biggest supporters. Without them I would not be here answering your questions, I owe them a lot.

My greatest memory isn’t necessarily my greatest accomplishment. From the minute I started setting goals, the one at the very top of my list was hearing my name announced while walking down the staircase in the final of the Australian Open Championships. At the time that seemed like the biggest thing in the world I could do! And at 14 I made the Junior Open Latin final and walked down those stairs. It was incredible, the feeling of accomplishment, and hearing the arena erupt with all of my friends and family supporting me. I was walking on air and that smile didn’t leave my face for days!

How did it come about when you were asked to be on Dancing With The Stars?

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Champ J.R. Martinez Welcomes Baby Girl Into The World

Congratulations to Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Champ and Iraqi war veteran, J.R. Martinez. He and girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones welcomed daughter Lauryn Anabelle Martinez into the world lastnight in Los Angeles. Below is a take from People.com with J.R.’s reaction. So cute!!

“She’s already got a nickname — Belle,” Martinez, 28, tells PEOPLE of his newborn baby girl, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and is 21 inches long.

“She has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips,” he continues.

“It’s just amazing to see her, finally. She’s beautiful.”

The Iraq war veteran and Gonzalez-Jones met when he landed a role on All My Children in 2008, and announced in December that they were expecting their first child.

“God has a tremendous sense of humor that he wants to continue to surround me with women,” Martinez said with a laugh, revealing that a baby girl was on the way.
