DWTS Awards: Which Pure DWTS blogger did you like the most?

Ok, so this was a totally unfair question to ask: Which Pure DWTS blogger did you like the most? So, I don’t actually think it’s a good idea to post the detailed results. Especially since I added the option, “I like all of you!” after many had voted.

I will say that even with adding the “I like all of you!” option late, it still won by a LANDSLIDE!! It had about 60% of the vote and that makes me very happy since to be quite honest, the bloggers on Pure DWTS are fantastic!

Some of the write in comments were also pretty funny:
have trouble telling you apart!
I don’t think this is a terrible thing. Although, if you look at the top of each post it says “Written by: Author’s Name” In fact, if you click on the person’s name, you can see all of the posts by that person. Of course, sometimes there are multiple people writing a post and this won’t reflect that.

the ones that weren’t vicious
I’m glad you like me;-) What can I say? Some like em vicious and some don’t.

Cheesecake my favourite!
Cheesecake is so good!! Plus, if you buy a Cheesecake Factory gift certificate right now they give you a free slice of cheesecake gift card. That’s an awesome deal if you’re like us and LOVE eating at cheesecake factory. In fact, we go in and just buy a bunch of gift certificates for ourselves so we can get the free cheesecake. Plus, my kids love to see it in their stockings. Yummy!! Oh wait…you meant the DWTS cheesecake? I like that too!

DWTS – Media Who Is It, Dance With me Updates

Hi!!! How are all of you Pure Dancettes today?? Just a few media updates. First of all, would you like to guess which pro-dancer this is? Answer will be revealed in the comment section tomorrow sometime. ;)

Next, and special thanks to PureDWTS fan Evaine, here is Maks with a new “Dance with me Soho” update. He tells us what he’s been up to and introduces Tony as his new partner in his dance studio ventures. They both are shooting a really HOT photo shoot that I can’t get enough of. I want too see more. Maks has disabled the embedding, but, you can SEE IT >>>HERE at his You Tube Channel.

Special thanks to PureDWTS fan Figmentation for more news on the “Same Sex Couple” idea. It sounds like ABC is canning the idea for now. Here is a take from Celebuzz.

After toying with the idea of including a same-sex couple on the next season of Dancing With the Stars, ABC has abandoned the notion, PopEater’s Rob Shuter reports.

A source within the network tells Shuter that the plan fell through after Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi turned down an offer to appear on the show and ABC was unable to come up with a non-controversial replacement:

“If Portia had agreed then this would have been a done deal. She was the only star that could have pulled this off without completely offending the program’s conservative viewers.”

Now, the source adds, producers have decided to hold off on the idea for a few years, hoping that cultural attitudes change, and don’t plan to “rush into creating a same-sex dancing couple just to get attention and publicity.”

In other DWTS ideas and possible contenders, what do you think about the idea of Lindsay Lohan as a contestant next Season? I’m kind of negative on the idea. It depends if she’s kicked her drug habits and done her time. Though that is controversial in and of itself being she’s never had to fully serve it. Why, I don’t know? Don’t the courts realize how much they are hurting her by letting her have her way? But, here is Kyle Massey’s thoughts. He’d also like to see Oprah and Kayne West do the show. Oh boy, not sure on the Kayne West idea either. :o

Speaking of Kyle, he and Lacey helped with “Skating With The Stars” this past week. Unfortunately, the couple they helped had to back out since one of them was sick. From The Examiner. I love Lacey’s advice on how every “move” should mean something and be performed with intent. So true.

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Kyle, Lacey coach ‘Skating’s’ Brandon, Keauna — One of the most popular pairs from Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars appeared again on television Monday night. Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer were brought in to coach Skating with the Stars’ competitors Brandon Mychal Smith and his professional partner, Keauna McLaughlin.

Mr. Smith and Ms. McLaughlin visited the dancing couple in the dance studio. There, they learned about choreography. Lacey Schwimmer told Brandon Smith that every move had to mean something. Each move must be performed with intent and tell part of the story the routine was trying to convey to the audience.

Although the skating pair seemed to gain ground from the Dancing with the Stars duo, unfortunately illness prevented Brandon Smith from competing live Monday evening. His partner, Keauna McLaughlin was in costume and ready to perform in case he appeared at the last minute, but he did not. Instead, ABC ran a video of the pair’s last rehearsal, shot on Sunday.

If you are in Las Vegas on Dec. 10th, be sure to check out Karina Smirnoff as she is planning to join the Chippendales and host “Ultimate Girl’s Night Out”. Here is take from Vegas News. Check the link for ticket information and more if interested.

On Friday, December 10, the Men of Chippendales – the global icon in women’s entertainment – will be joined by Karina Smirnoff of Dancing with the Stars, as she celebrates her new engagement with girlfriends and also hosts The Ultimate Girls Night Out!.

Karina will join the Chippendales onstage as part of the show’s ongoing celebrity guest host series which has recently featured The Bachelor winner Vienna Girardi and model/actress Estella Warren. In addition, Karina will be escorted on the red carpet by the iconic men who have recently been voted the Best of Las Vegas 2010 – Best Male Revue by both editors and readers of the Las Vegas Review Journal. A fan and media favorite of the hit ABC television show, Karina will be joined by a group of girlfriends, all coming to Las Vegas to celebrate her recent engagement to Major League baseball pitcher, Brad Penny, at Chippendales.

Movieline has rated their Top 10 Reality Shows for 2010. They’ve put “Dancing With The Stas” at #10. Here’s why…

10. Dancing with the StarsTV’s schmaltziest hour of dance and pseudo-fame is usually worth a couple episodes of actual entertainment, but this year, Bristol Palin’s relentless survival turned the show into a musical remake of Network. Fans rioted, ratings boomed, dignity died, and viewer outrage felt as flammable as one of Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s leisure suits. Though Jennifer Grey won the season, it was Bristol Palin’s weak hoofing and dictatorial reign that made for violently good TV.

I promised….I am not going to say a word. :o lol

Lastly, here is Chelsey and Kym on Access Hollywood doing a promo for their “Dancing” workout DVDs. Margaret Cho joins them as well.

Ok Kids, that is all for now. Though if you haven’t done so yet, don’t forget to VOTE in our “End of The Season Awards” >>>>>HERE!! Also, a reminder to VOTE in the “People’s Choice Awards” as well if you want to see the show and your favorite dancers win an award(s) this year >>>>HERE!!

DWTS 11 Finale – The Cheesecake Awards!!

Ahhh…the last cheesecake of the year. It’s all good – we need a vacay. Some would say desperately. :-)

Biggest Disappointment: The returning stars’ dances

Courtney: It was actually painful to watch some of these :-( The Hoff belting the theme song to Baywatch while Kym, Peta, and another pro frolic about in red swimsuits? Margaret & Florence prancing around in the world’s tackiest costumes while the resident pocket-sized pros (Louis & Corky) gyrate around them? Rick & Kurt doing the requisite “Athlete vs. Athlete” paso doble in costumes in their old teams’ colors? Don’t even get me started on The Situation’s dance…if you can even call it that.  It was more like an exercise in self-love and machismo.  As for Brandy & Maks…*sigh* Yes, it was and still is a very cute quickstep, but seeing it for a 3rd time was a bit of a yawn for me.  I know, I know, they allegedly ”didn’t have any time” to  choreograph something new – but from what I’ve seen of finale-hopefuls on the show in the past, some of them actually start working on their freestyle as soon as the show starts…they literally start brainstorming and choreographing from week 1.  I was kinda hoping Brandy & Maks had maybe done the same thing and had at least a portion of their freestyle that they could have performed for us, especially since Bruno requested it.  Oh well.  I guess I should have expected to be let down by the returning celebs’ dances, since they’ve been on a pretty steady decline the past few seasons.  I still shudder at that reprise of Kate’s paso last season :-(

Heidi: Well, at least the opening dance wasn’t the massive trainwreck that it was last season. I mean, that’s really all you can expect me to remember, right? :-) Seriously, I watched them again and I thought Anna’s dress was really cute and did you notice she had Kurt’s number inked in small numbers on her back?? Digging deep for something positive to say and I’m coming up pretty empty. :-) The Sitch’s was so bad that it wasn’t even cheesy – it was just bad.

The “Zip it!!!” Award: Bristol’s comment about giving the middle finger to all her “haters”

Courtney: Oy vey.  If a good portion of viewers were like me, they probably let out a collective “D’oh!” and slapped their foreheads a la Homer Simpson when this gem slipped past Bristol’s lips in the confessional.  Even Mark seemed to let out a little warning yip as she said it, as if saying “DUDE! DON’T TAKE IT THERE!” If there’s anything that I don’t think ANY competitor should do in the finals, it’s being anything less than gracious and polite – and this comment kinda stomped all over that.  It just came across as a bit vindictive and actually kinda crass to me – and I don’t think it helped that she brought up her mom’s name.  And even if she did win – I don’t think it would have been much of a proverbial “middle finger” to her “haters” (and while we’re at it, I’m totally sick of hearing that word – it just sounds dumb…can we agree on a suitable synonym? Naysayers? Detractors? Skeptics?), considering that it seemed a pretty widely-held opinion that Bristol did not deserve to win…at least based on merit.  And I can just hear the Bristol defenders now, calling me a “hater” just because I don’t worship the ground she walks on.  I’m only gonna say this once: Bristol seems like a decently nice girl, but I don’t think she’s a good dancer and I don’t think it was appropriate for her to make that comment.  That is not “hating”; that is having a rational opinion of someone that doesn’t involve any sort of personal vendetta.  I’d say the same thing about anyone else on the show who said the same thing and was not a good dancer. And spare me the crap about how “Bristol is just a kid!” and “How would you feel if you were in  her shoes and getting all this hate?” I don’t think anyone that signs up for the show should get preferential treatment just because of their age – there have been several contestants younger than Bristol that have dealt with the pressure just fine.  And signing up for a reality show of ANY kind basically guarantees a target on your back for ridicule…anyone that thinks otherwise is living in a dream world.

Heidi: I know right? Bristol, that poor “kid” with all the “haters” is laughing all the way to the bank after making about 350k on DWTS and charging 35k a pop at her speaking engagements. That’s very…motivational speakerish…of her. I would be very eager to help teens for that wage too. :-) My point, in talking about the cash, is that it just rings very false when she complains about haters. I’m sure there are actual haters out there (and no I don’t mean it in the bulls*^t way the immature tend to throw it around on this site and others when you don’t kiss someone’s butt), but they ALL have them – even the pros have “haters”. DEAL with it – you chose the public eye. I agree that she seems like a nice girl, but I didn’t like her behavior that last week (or recently) – SHE made it as much about politics and her mom as anyone did. My gripe was that she was NOT a good dancer, compared to several people who didn’t make it to the final. But it sure is convenient to cry politics for her fans, and quite hard to argue that she’s a great dancer. :-) And yes, I hate that word “haters” and how it’s used as well – very immature.

The “Gag me with a SPOON!!!” Award: Mark Ballas and his pre-cage dance pep talk to Bristol

Heidi: :::hurl, puke, gack::: Mark saying, “Be a bad bitch. A bad bitch. Gimme some SEX…” This, I’m sorry to say, took me to a place in Mark’s private life that I REALLY didn’t want to go. I mean, ick. I never thought I was the sensitive type, but hearing those words come out of his mouth really really…..disturbed me. And the tone of voice!! What the hell kind of pep talk is this? I’ve never been a prude (far from it, actually) but this was just…ick. They didn’t even put in the captioning with the first part – would the network get them for the written word and not the spoken one? Everytime I watch this little segment (the things I do for you people) I cringe all over again.

Courtney: *shudder* Glad I wasn’t the only one that thought that exchange was icky.  I found it funny that he told her to “give him some sex” – isn’t that kinda counterproductive to her activisting? (Did you all catch the made up word? ;-)) And isn’t that what got her into trouble in the first place? Oh, the irony.  And if any guy is gonna call me a bad bitch and ask for sex…I’m gonna need at least an expensive dinner and a good bottle of wine before I’m even gonna think about obliging, hehe.  I would expect a bit more out of Mark…I mean, he is Mr. Romance…couldn’t he have sprinkled some rose petals in the cage and popped open some bubbly before making that request? Or perhaps recited some Shakespeare? :-P

Heidi: Activisting…hmmm, let me call Oxford, maybe you can get it added. :-) I hadn’t even thought of the irony – thank you, oh wise one, for taking my train of thought into the station at the end of the line. ;-)

The “SHOW MUST GO ON!!” Award: Jennifer Grey

Heidi: Girlfriend has cojones people – and Broadway in her blood, apparently. A ruptured disk, a day at the hospital, and still she dances. For all the people whining about her crying too much and some claims of her faking it, the woman is hurt enough to require surgery last week and still sucked it up and performed, and did NOT utter a word any of the 500 times that Brooke asked her if her body was holding up. To the point that Brooke gets her own award again. GET WELL SOON, JENNIFER!!!

Courtney: My heart jumped up into my throat when they brought her out at the beginning of the show to talk about her injury…I was like “Noooo! Don’t tell me she’s bowing out at the 11th hour!!! Soldier through, Jennifer, soldier though! You’re almost there!” And thankfully, she did.  And I completely echo Heidi’s sentiments about all the naysayers who were accusing Jennifer of malingering and faking her injuries – doctors don’t perform surgeries on minor bumps & bruises, and a ruptured disk is not something you can easily fake, like a stomach ache.

The “OH, STFU, Already” Award: Brooke Burke, asking Jennifer how her body was holding up no less than 500 times in a 2 hour period.

Heidi: Brooke, if she didn’t confess that she was going to fall apart the first three times you asked her, I doubt you were going to trick her into giving it all away the last 15 times you asked. The only time I really got that she was hurt was the look on her husband’s face after her first dance – dude was less than happy. Even my mother – the sage – mentioned it: “Her poor husband was soo worried.” I was like, “Mom, I have a really bad cold (to the point of not leaving my couch in four days) and you’re in paroxysms of guilt because you didn’t call me yesterday to see how I was – of course he was worried about her dancing with a ruptured disk.” But seriously, every time Brooke spoke to her, that was all she had – “Jennifer, how’s your body holding up??” She did manage to try Derek one of those times – “Derek, how scared were you?” I bet she about popped a blood vessel when Derek turned it into a “oh, everyone’s scared but I’m just glad we’re all here…yadda yadda PC Derek PC verbiage….” LOL. Poor Brooke – that had to be a frustrating night with no one cooperating and giving her the dirt/scoop she so desperately wanted. :-)

Courtney: She’s like a discount parakeet at the pet store – y’know, the one that can only repeat a few useless phrases, and is incapable of learning new ones? I think I’ll just refer to her as Brooke the parakeet from now on.  For the love of all things sacred Brooke, please – either improve or quit.  You drive me bananas with your inane questions and subpar improvisational interviewing skills.

Heidi: LOL – but it did lead to a pretty good funny from Tom B. After the last scores and Derek’s PC response, Brooke says, “Oh, it just got very serious in here.” To which Tom replied, “That’s them SERIOUS??” I LOL’ed – dude kinda poked Brooke with a “don’t listen to the voices in your head” stick with that one. Maybe he’s trying to train her in improv? We can hope. :-)

The “Pardon me, I was just hit by a truck” Award – Christina Aguilera

Heidi: I love Xtina, but the saying “rode hard and put away wet” kept running through my mind when watching her perform her first song. What’s going on here? The woman can undoubtedly sing, no question. She was just lookin’ a bit rough on this evening. “Beautiful” was beautifully done though – great song.

Courtney: I think the phrase that came to mind when I saw her had something to do with a train (those with dirtier minds can probably figure that one out ;-)).  I mean, eee gad…did she even brush her hair before hitting the stage? And while I still think she’s a great singer, she seems to be developing a case of Mariah & Whitney-itis – her voice is sounding a little worn live, compared to what it used to be.  Maybe she was having an off-night – who knows.  But I have heard rumors floating around about her possibly being pregnant – and at first I brushed them off as nonsense, but I did go and see Burlesque last week and it is a bit peculiar how different her body looks in it.  She’s definitely curvier now.  Who knows.  It was nice to see some familar faces performing with her on the results show though – anyone catch Chelsea Traille from SYTYCD season 4? Or Paula Van Oppen, the chick who turned down a spot in the top 20 of SYTYCD season 6 in order to do this movie? Or Tyne Stecklein of This is It fame who performed on DWTS last season with Teddy Forance? If only Julianne had been there.  *sigh*

The WTF??? Award for Costuming, Female: Lacey Schwimmer (Insta-Cha Cha)

Heidi: What the hell is that thing?? It’s not lace, exactly, but it’s some kind of sparkly see-though body stocking with fringe attached over a bra and panties. Can I just vote her off the show for that outfit?? Girlfriend’s taste in costuming just seems to get worse and worse as the weeks go by. I’m pretty sure it’s possible to be edgy without being…..THAT. Whatever that is.

Courtney: Now while I don’t want to sway the voting of the end-of-season awards in any way, I have to say – I will be very surprised if Lacey does not win the worst dressed award.  I mean, that black thing she was wearing…I mean, I don’t even quite know what to call it.  Lady Gaga meets Elvira meets potential S&M costume reject pile? Ai ai ai.  But I guess it’s what we’ve come to expect from Lacey!

Tom Bergeron Line ‘O the Night: “We don’t give them food, water…The Ballroom is like a veal pen”

Heidi: Smart is sexy, fer sure. :-) So, raise your hand if you didn’t get the veal joke. I got it, but I always wonder if I’m alone in getting some of his obscure comments. That’s a slight paraphrase by the way. Court accidentally deleted the full thing and I’m too lazy to go back for an exact quote. :-)

Courtney: *shudder* I don’t really want to think about veal in graphic detail, but I do give Tom props for yet another apt, cerebral reference.

The OTT Production Tick of Finale Night: The scores, all about the scores and nothing but the scores.

Heidi: Between them explaining the scoring, showing us the scores and Brooke asking about Jennifer’s body ad nauseum, we could have had one hell of a drinking game on Tuesday night. The hangover would have been murder. :-) I mean, has DWTS ever seemed MORE defensive than it was this season?? Between “boo gate”, “maks gate”, etc. and the scoring issues, they are just bizarrely defensive. Suck it up, Conrad. Quit buying into your own hype and just enjoy the buzz. Who cares if they were booing Palin or not? Most who watch the show regularly know that wasn’t the case. The scoring is very clearly explained on the website and the press are too stupid to get it, then screw ‘em. Being so defensive on both issues makes it seem like you WERE playing politics, and not in a good way.

Courtney: Why didn’t they just have Conrad walk center stage holding a sign that had in bold caps “WE ARE NOT RIGGING THE VOTING!” Because methinks the show doth protest too much – the more energy you put into explaining the voting & scoring process, the more we wonder if you really are hiding something nefarious.  Let it be, powers that be!

DWTS – Your Cha Cha Cha Holiday Media Updates

Hi!!! How is everyone doing this week so far? I hope well and you are starting to get your Christmas shopping wrapped up? Huh, you haven’t even started? Well, good news then. Here are some good ideas for what you can get your family and friends for Christmas if they love dancing and the show. From the NY Daily. Be sure to check the link for more cool Christmas ideas to other TV shows.

Twelve seasons later, this glitzy competition is going strong with younger and younger aficionados every year. You’re never too young to feel the beat, or trash celebs.

— Toning your tush to the Tango might be just the ticket for the holidays. There are plenty of DWTS-inspired workouts on DVD. Watch for this new one: “Dancing With the Stars: Ballroom Buns & Abs,” featuring fitness pros Chelsie, Edyta and Kym. They promise sexy dancer curves in three workouts.

— Grab the hubs and go for Samba lessons. He’ll groan but they’re paid for already …

— For kid fans, Dance Star Mickey by Fisher-Price is catching some buzz for the holidays. This mighty animatronic robot mouse has different moves for different grooves. He walks, he talks, he tells jokes, he moonwalks. Just press his foot and away he goes.

— Treat a teen to some leg warmers, from chunky cables in wool to lighter-weight versions made for actual dancers in stripes or warm pink.

In other media and news updates out there, Carrie Ann told E-Online that she thinks we need a “Palin vacation for a minute” when asked if Todd Palin would join the show next season. Shew, I am so glad for this and she makes some good points. She also talks of the “Same-Sex couple idea again as well. Here is take.

“I think one Palin was enough for awhile,” Carrie Ann Inaba told me last night at the Trevor Project’s Trevor Live benefit at the Hollywood Palladium. “I think we need to go on a Palin vacation for a minute.”

In other words, she’s not too keen on Todd Palin being on the show.

But why? Didn’t the Palin factor mean a lot more people were watching and talking about DWTS?

“Although it was great media attention, I think it was too controversial,” Inaba explained. “I think people got confused about what they were rooting for: Are you voting for dancing on the show or are you voting for a Party?

“I think that made it very uncomfortable for a lot of people who just want to see a dance competition. I like to keep it simple. I think it diluted the nature of the competition.”

At the same time, Inaba said she’s hoping DWTS follows in its Israeli counterpart’s footsteps by including a same-sex couple in the competition.

“I want it to happen,” Inaba said. “I think we’ll have to work on some of the judging and the techniques of leading and stuff like that, but once we get passed all that, I think it could happen.”

Recently, Margaret Cho wrote about Bristol on her blog with some rumors that she heard Sarah forced Bristol into doing the show for political reasons. At the same time, Margaret comments how Bristol is her friend, a warm person, and a beautiful dancer. The way she wrote it, it’s kind of confusing. Being Margaret is a “Comedian”, is this just political satire, is she is just kidding, or do you think Margaret is being mean-spirited or maybe both? I’ll let you decide.;

Why did Bristol do Dancing with the Stars? I heard from someone who really should know (really should seriously know the dirt really really) that the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it. Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she “owed” it to her to do DWTS so that “America would fall in love with her again” and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way. Instead of being supposedly “handicapped” by the presence of her teen mom daughter, now Bristol is going to be an “asset” – a celebrity beloved for her dancing. I am sure the show wasn’t in on this (but who knows anything really).

Although I don’t agree with the family’s politics at all, I really like Bristol as a person. She’s warm and incredibly supportive, and I think that she looks beautiful out on the dance floor. It’s heartbreaking that people are so awful to her about her weight. I think she looks fantastic, and why does everybody think they have a right to comment on our bodies? What are young girls going to take away from that? If people call her fat what kind of impact does that have on women who have similar body types – which is most of us??!! Still, it is a dance competition, and so I am sure that people feel they have the right to judge bodies and not just ability. That’s just wrong.

Bristol is learning. She improved a lot, in my opinion. Her tango was fierce and really the best dance she did. You really do learn to dance in this competition! I am proud of her for shaking her ass! But keep in mind there are other forces at work here and it’s not just for the love of dance.

Now I am scared I am going to wake up with a decapitated moose head in my bed.

And here are some takes for how Bristol replied back to her facebook page.

I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many “facts” wrong in so few sentences. Let me be blunt: my mom did not “force” me to go on DWTS. She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision. After first worrying for me in terms of being exposed to those who hate us for what we believe in, both my mom and my dad became my number one supporters. Anyone who watched the show could tell I performed better, and I felt better about myself, when they were in the audience. I wanted to make them both proud, but politics had nothing to do with it. Loving my parents had everything to do with it.

To my friend Margaret Cho, if you ever have a question, call me girlfriend. Don’t ever rely on “sources” who claim to know me or my family. You will be taken every time. And we need to talk. You say you “don’t agree with the family’s politics at all” but I say, if you understood that commonsense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us, to live our lives with less government interference and more independence, you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert.

*sigh* I was probably ok with Bristol’s retort until the end when she made it sound like Conservatives are the only people wth “common sense values”. I also have to question the bit about her Party being for more independence and less government. That is not what we saw in the Bush era or any political or Presidential era if you think about it.

Moving on, Lacey and Kyle were interviewed on the show during the Hollywood Christmas Parade. They joke around about becoming the “Oreo Mixers” in a future dance tour. lol

Speaking of “Christmas Parades”, The Examiner is reporting that some of our Pros will be starring in the “Christmas Disney Parade”. Here is a take on this news. Be sure to see the link for more of the star-studded line up. You can tune into to see the parade on ABC at 12:00pm ET on Christmas Day.

Superstars are lining up left and right for the chance to perform during Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, and the pros from Dancing With the Stars and American Idol stars are first in line. Professional dancers Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Louis Van Amstel and Chelsie Hightower from Dancing With the Stars are set to perform a jovial jive. Ryan Seacrest from American Idol serves as this year’s host and season nine winner Lee Dewyze performs his own rousing rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy.” Also on tap are pint-sized opera singer Jackie Evancho and Disney star Selena Gomez. Plus, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Phineas and Ferb, and the whole Disney gang will all be dressed in their holiday best as they sing, march and dance through the Disney Parks. It will be a magical Christmas Day made for sharing and making magical Disney memories.

Lastly, Derek and Cheryl gave some Cha Cha Cha and Rumba dance lessons in Cheryl’s studio. “What’s Up Orange County” covered some of the classes. They are so cute with the students. Thanks to Pure Derek Hough for this tip.

DWTS – Season 11 Afterlife Continues, Future Contenders, & Media Wrap Up

Hi Everyone! What’s up in your dancing worlds on this weekend? Have you voted in our PURE DWTS END OF THE SEASON AWARDS Yet? If not, time is getting away. If you haven’t done so yet, please VOTE now >>>> HERE !!

Well, if you’ve been reading some of the entertainment headlines this week, there are a lot of rumors saying DWTS officials are eyeing Todd Palin for the show next year. A site called Thirdage is reporting that Meghan McCain is also a possible contender. But, check out the last question this site asks in the take below while they report on these two rumors that grabbed my attention.

One obvious reason that ABC would want to recruit Todd Palin comes from the unprecedented buzz on the show this past season stemming from Bristol Palin’s involvement.

“They want him big time,” a source told E! Online. “They’d love Sarah, but they don’t think that will ever happen, so why not go for the dad.”

The show is apparently also after Meghan McCain, daughter of 2008 GOP presidential candidate John McCain. This season, Jennifer Grey was crowned winner but Bristol Palin’s long stay and unprecedented fan support became a talking point.

Perhaps the question to ask then becomes: Is Dancing with the Stars intentionally recruiting top GOP connections for more than entertainment purposes?

I hate to say it. But, if this rumor is true, why are they only wanting contenders from the GOP? If they are seriously wanting to continue having someone connected to politics to dance, why don’t they pick someone from another Party?

Anyway, I really hope, like many of you have expressed, we won’t have to go down the same political road next Season. But, being ratings were so good for Season 11, I’m fearing DWTS officials will repeat themselves?

Speaking of Palins, did you know our 3rd place winner this Season and The Situation made a “Pause before you play” commercial for the “Candie’s Foundation“?

I thought the video had a really cool message. However, Keith Olbermann thought differently. Here is a take of that report from The Washington Post and how Bristol responded to him on it.

In the PSA, Bristol and The Situation exchanged lively banter as to whether abstinence or a better grade of condom made the most sense for teens contemplating a roll in the hay. Extra points if you can guess which person advocated which.

“Bristol Palin, she has done a public service announcement this The Situation guy from TV’s ‘Jersey Shore.’ It’s about abstinence and safe sex. Sadly, it is not a spoof done by The Onion,” Olbermann said, showing a clip of the PSA.

Olbermann continued: “She’s the Candies spokesperson for abstinence? She and her son? Because it’s got to work this time? This is like saying George Bush kept us safe except for that 9/11 thing, which doesn’t count.”

Bristol responded, at great length, via Facebook:

Recently, a left wing commentator named Keith Olbermann attacked me for being a spokesperson for abstinence education and for being an Ambassador for the Candies Foundation, which promotes teen pregnancy awareness and prevention education. He went so far as to call me “the worst person” he knows, apparently, for my efforts to educate teenagers about the real world risks of premarital sex.

Accusing me of hypocrisy is by now, an old canard. What Mr. Olbermann lacks in originality he makes up for with insincere incredulity. Mr. Olbermann fails to understand that in order to have credibility as a spokesperson, it sometimes takes a person who has made mistakes. Parents warn their children about the mistakes they made so they are not repeated. Former gang members travel to schools to educate teenagers about the risks of gang life. Recovered addicts lecture to others about the risks of alcohol and drug abuse. And yes, a teen mother talks about the benefits of preventing teen pregnancy.

I have never claimed to be perfect. If that makes me the “worst person in the world” to Mr. Olbermann, then I must apologize for not being absolutely faultless like he undoubtedly must be.

To Mr. Olbermann let me say this: you can attack me all you want. But you will not stop me from getting my message out about teen pregnancy prevention. And one day, if you ever have a daughter, you may change your mind about me.

In other things to report, there is a cool interview up at The Washington Post with David Hasselhoff. Here is what he said on his Dancing With The Stars experience. Be sure to read the link for more.

I also wanted to ask you about “Dancing With the Stars.” You were the first contestant eliminated in this last season. That had to sting a little bit…
The funny thing about it is I got more press out of being kicked off first than if I’d won. I didn’t have to go through 10 weeks of hell. It was great. At first I was disappointed because of Kym [Johnson] because we worked so hard. I’ve done Broadway, done the “Producers” and I’ve danced. But it takes me a few weeks to figure out what “5,6,7,8″ really means. I was just breaking through and they told me to camp it up and be funny. And the funniest part about it is the show got the highest ratings in the history of the show when I was on and it got the highest ratings on the finale when I appeared again. So I smile about that.

In a way I was kind of thinking it’s not about the dancing. It’s about who’s popular right now and who’s got the most Twitters and fan support. But it was a very good positive experience and I have nothing but respect for the dancers.

I have to ask, since it was a controversial season, what do you think about how far Bristol Palin got in the competition? Did she deserve to go that far?
I think that, you know, life is not fair. Who deserves what? There’s got to be a reason for it all in the end. I think when I die I’ll ask god, “Hey God, what about Bristol?” He’ll say, “You know we tried to get her mom in the White House and that didn’t work out, so we’ll use this, but then she became the president so it all worked out great.” I don’t know. Who knows? It’s a dancing show, for god’s sake.

We’re sending kids off to Iraq and Afghanistan and no one talks about them. And we’re sitting here talking about “Dancing with the Stars” and Bristol Palin.

The funny part about it is she’s a nice person. A lovely girl. I judge a person, like Martin Luther King said, on the content of their character. She happened to be very kind, very sweet and very shy. It couldn’t have been easy for her being thrust into that, but you know, it made for entertaining television. It’s like they say, “As long as they’re talking about ya, they’re talking about ya.”

So I’m going to go ahead and assume you’re not a Sarah Palin supporter.
I don’t really know her game yet. I really cannot say. I haven’t taken the time — right now I’m just trying to support my daughters and make sure I have enough shirts clean because I’m flying all over the world.

It’s a great time right now, to be honest. If I can say one thing I’ve enjoyed about this show more than anything, it’s been spending time with my daughters.

Is Jennifer Grey thinking of doing Broadway following in the footsteps of her Dad? Broadway.com explores the possibilty.

Daddy Joel fueled a rumor that Jennifer might be interested in appearing with him in the Broadway revival of Chicago (in which he created the role of Amos Hart), teasingly telling Broadway.com, “Maybe she’ll play Velma Kelly, not Roxie. You know what I mean?” Asked about the possibility of portraying a Merry Murderess, Grey responded, “I love that show, but I’m open to anything. There’s always amazing choreography going on here [on Broadway]. As long as I don’t have to do a different dance every week—or four different dances every week!—that really appeals to me.”

So, could a Jennifer/Joel Broadway pairing be in the works? “I would love to work with my dad!” she exclaimed. “We’ve never done anything live together. I’m always open to working with talented people, and I think my dad certainly qualifies.”

As for the demands of Broadway-style singing, Grey said, “I have sung, but I haven’t sung in any way that I would ever call myself ‘a singer.’ But if the right show came along and I worked with a really great Broadway vocal coach, I think I could do it. We’ll see what happens.”

This week Karina whipped Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover into shape using unique moves from her new workout DVD, “Shape Up with Karina Smirnoff.” Check them out here.

Brandy did a media blitz this week where she talked about her career plans with brother RayJ, her Dancing With The Stars experience, and more. Here are some videos in case you missed her on the Joy Behar show, Lopez Tonight, and Access Live.

And lastly, some Derek news (take this with a grain of salt though since many British sources are “HIGHLY unreliable” as Heidi has said). Simon Cowell has reportedly offered Derek a position on the US version of The X Factor. From Digital Spy.

Taking the job as choreographer would see him quit his role on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, The Sun reports.

“He is in discussions for the job,” a source told the paper. “Taking it would mean [Cole and Hough] could be together at home and work.”

The news comes just days after it was claimed that Hough’s close friend Cheryl Cole has landed a £3million deal to join the show as a judge.

I hope this isn’t true. I want him to stay on DWTS!!

Ok, that is all for you for now. Voguerista over and out. Let us know how it’s hangin’. ;) xxx

DWTS – Wednesday Media, Videos, Interviews, and More

Just a few things to share with you today! How is everyone??

First up, did you see Derek and Cheryl on “Live with Regis and Kelly” yesterday? If not, you can see their fun interview and dance in the videos below. Thanks to Heidi and Pure Derek Hough for these.

Do you love watching Derek’s faces when he dances like I do? :)

Corky posted this fun interview on his Twitter last night of he and Florence getting interviewed after the Finale show. She is so cute!

In some more serious news, Access Hollywood is reporting that Jennifer’s “next move” is surgery. Jennifer told them that she would take care of the injury she sustained last Monday night before Tuesday’s finale show. She plans to have the surgery this week or sometime next week. Check her out. She’s so brave and says it won’t be a big deal.

Kyle Massey reveals his future plans too to Access Hollywood. I have a feeling this isn’t the last we will see of this funny guy.

Karina revealed more of her marriage plans to fiancé Brad Penny on Access Hollywood this week. She is as giddy as ever.

Lastly, Julianne Hough was interview by YDR while attending the Red carpet for “Burlesque”. She answered some questions about her career, family, DWTS, and love life “. Here is a take. Be sure to read the link for more.

Where are you coming from? I was in Nashville for a day, which was great because I was home. I missed my sister’s birthday, so I got to take her out and do a whole girly spa day.

You have a pretty big family. Yes. In my immediate (family) it’s not too bad. There (are) five kids. My parents split up and remarried, so there (are) 14 kids, which means there are probably 23 nieces and nephews. (Laughs) It’s kind of confusing.

You spent a lot of time in Europe studying dance as a kid. What was that like? Going over there as a 10-year-old, you think they are still going to be wearing big dresses and using horse-drawn carriages. I was so disappointed when everybody drove cars and was on trains. But it was a great experience. I really think I’m where I’m at today because of it.

What was it like to land “DWTS?” When (producers) asked me to do the show, I first said, “no,” because I wanted to act and sing. It was such a great opportunity. In my first two seasons, I got to be with two great athletes (who) really listened to me. (Laughs)

Your brother Derek Hough recently won “DWTS” with Jennifer Grey. Did you watch? It was exciting, but it’s kind of depressing. We were both tied for two (wins). Now he’s got three. It’s not fair. (Laughs) I was shooting “Footloose” this season, so I couldn’t watch every day. I tried to YouTube him.

What did you think of Bristol Palin? There seemed to be a lot of controversy about her this season. Apparently, I’ve said a lot of it. My foot gets in my mouth every time I say anything. I can understand why she (was) in the competition so long because people vote for who they want to vote for. But I definitely think there were (other) people who probably should have been in the final.

Ok, that is it for now in media out there. If you haven’t done so yet, please VOTE in our “Pure DWTS End Of Season Awards>>>> HERE !! It’s too fun. Let your voice be heard on everything DWTS this Season. ;)

I’m sure many of you are wondering where the Cheesecake Awards are. Well, don’t worry, they are coming. Courtney and Heidi will certainly provide some special cheesecake for you just for the holidays. While we love the cheesecake awards, we decided that it would be a fun thing to have an awards that was a little more serious. So, the following is the Pure DWTS End of Season Awards.

First, I have to give Courtney props for doing most of the work in putting these award lists together with some help from the Pure DWTS writers. Next, you’ll notice that each poll has an “Other” option so if you don’t like the choices we’ve provided you can add in another choice. Also, be aware that the order of the choices in each poll is random and the results are hidden so we can have a really cool results post.

No doubt the following process isn’t perfect, but we do what we can to avoid any bias. That said, it’s just for fun anyway. So, vote your heart away, don’t get your panties all bunched up and we’ll post the results later.

Dancing With The Stars – Media Tidbits, Reflecting Back Question, Exploring Same Sex Couple idea

Ok everyone!! So, when you think back on all of the dances this year, which dances were huge standouts for you??

For me, it was Maks and Brandy’s last Argentine Tango, Jennifer and Derek’s first Argentine Tango and both Dirty Dancing numbers. They were so good!

In some media things for you today while you ponder on that question, first we have Louis being interviewed by the paparazzi. They ask some really good questions about the Season, the idea of a “same sex couple” dancing, and more. He doesn’t hold back.

Speaking of the idea of a “Same Sex Couple” dancing, here’s a take from Fox News exploring the idea.

Reports have been running rampant over recent weeks that next year’s “Dancing With the Stars” will be quite a quick-step from tradition and feature a same-sex twosome.

The speculation stemmed from the announcement that the Israeli edition of the hit show would pair two ladies, at the request of a lesbian sportscaster who felt more comfortable foxtrotting with a female in the competition. Numerous names started being thrown around, including Ellen DeGeneres’s wife Portia de Rossi.

“They (the producers) have approached Portia to do it. I don’t think she is going to do it, but she was flattered that they asked her,” DeGeneres confirmed, although it was not clear whether they asked her to dance with a male or female partner.

Insiders close to the show told Pop Tarts that a same-sex couple will “never happen” in the U.S – at least not yet.

“ABC and Disney are afraid of the negative backlash from viewers after watching a same-sex couple
grind on stage,” explained our snitch. “Middle America isn’t there yet – and judging by the conservatives who voted to keep Bristol in the competition, a same-sex rumba won’t happen anytime soon – at least not in the ‘Disney’ funded ballroom.”

A rep for “DWTS” did not respond for comment.

Entertainment industry expert John Ziegler concurred that it would be a bad move on ABC’s part to feature a same-sex dance couple.

“The show just got a huge boost of ‘Middle America’ viewers with the success of Bristol Palin. They are not going to blow that, especially when there is no need,” he said. “The show is on a roll and Margaret Cho’s overt lesbianism did not resonate with viewers. [She was the third contestant to be eliminated this past season.] The gay community is already watching, this would be a stupid ratings move, unless of course the same sex couple involved two hot women!”

Not everyone thinks featuring two male or female partners on “DWTS” is necessarily a bad move — including one of the show’s hosts.

“I fully support that and I think America is ready for that,” the show’s judge Carrie Ann Inaba told People.com. “Our country is much more accepting of same sex couples and it would be great for the show to reflect that.”

So, what do you think? Would you be open to the idea of a Same sex couple dancing on the show? I wouldn’t care one way or the other. I would have more issues if they brought someone in connected to politics again. Though Bill Clinton would be an exception! :D (thanks Zach for that idea that I won’t be able to get out of my head now. lol)

Moving on…. On-line WSJ is reporting that because of Jennifer’s reign on DWTS, “Dirty dancing” has gained more followers. Are we surprised? Here’s a take. Note how “Glee” plans to feature a “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” in a future episode.

The year 2010 is beginning to look a lot like 1987, thanks to the return of “Dirty Dancing.” The film’s star, Jennifer Grey, made headlines last week for winning “Dancing with the Stars.” Its anthem, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” will be featured on “Glee” in the coming weeks while a new version called “The Time (Dirty Bit),” recorded by the Black Eyed Peas, is in the iTunes top five.

According to PageData, a company that tracks metrics and trends on Facebook, the film has more than 6.3 million fans on the site, ranking it sixth among movies. That’s just below mega leaders like “Twilight” and “Harry Potter,” but above “Avatar,” which clocks in at 3.9 million fans.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment Executive Vice President Anne Parducci said the film gets about 150,000 new Facebook fans each week.

“It’s really just people saying they love the movie, they love Patrick [Swayze], they love, love, love everything,” said Ms. Parducci. “There is an innocence to the movie that is so endearing. My 16-year-old daughter says to me, ‘I wish I could live back then.’”

Corky and Lacey were in the Hollywood Christmas parade this last Sunday. You can see them at the 7:37 mark in the video below.

Ok, that is all for you for now. More soon!! ;) xxxx

DWTS Season 10 – Finale Week Costuming

Randal Christensen had some “behind the seams dish” to dish about with Stylelist again. Here’s a take for what went on with the costumes for the finale nights. Be sure to read more at the link.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas: Christensen was amused when the teen activist tossed the tricked-out gorilla suit she wore earlier this season. “It served its purpose and was so last week,” he deadpans. “It was a funny moment and a fun jab at the last time they jived.” Besides, Christensen was more focused on the blinged-out blue jacket he designed for Ballas. “I was surprised we made it to the finale before he asked for it. He loves his bling-encrusted costumes.”

As for Palin’s sexy, lace freestyle booty short bodysuit, Christensen says the teen activist was in complete charge of her look. She asked for fringe to be added to the suit and loved her blinged-out boots and fishnet stockings. “It was fun seeing Bristol’s confidence grow each week,” says Christensen.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer: The teen stars freestyle “Tootsie Roll” rapper medallion was hand-made by a crafty member of Christensen’s team who used gold foil lycra layered over plastic which was tacked on to keep Massey from chipping his teeth while he danced. Really! As for their bright-yellow sneakers: “We’re lucky we are in Hollywood where you can still find that kind of ’90′s thing around,” he says.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough: Hough was so pleased with Grey’s lattice-backed paso doble dress he twirled her around to praise Christensen’s design on national television. The compliment was, “quite thrilling actually” says the designer, whose concept for the gown was to keep it sophisticated but theatrical with the daringly low back. “The splash of garnet silk satin was especially effective when it was ripped off to be Derek’s matador cape,” he notes.

Grey made a deliberate decision not to imitate her signature “Dirty Dancing” finale performance instead dancing to “Mashed Potato” another song from the iconic film. “We were quite seriously paying homage to ‘Baby’ while trying to put a bit of originality into the costume,” says Christensen. And while Grey boasts “rock hard” abs at 50, Christensen added a panel of nude mesh to her hot pink two piece to “make sure she was comfortable.” Scattered crystals finished the look.

I loved Jennifer and Derek’s choices. Jennifer’s gold fringe costume had “Champion” written all over it from the get go. So, who had your favorite costumes for the finale?

Randall Christensen also dished on his favorite Finale costumes of all time on the show so far. See what costumes he picked in a cool slide gallery >>> HERE!

So, I wonder what Randall Christensen will have in store for DWTS Season 12? I wrap this post up with this little memory I don’t think we’ll ever soon forget. lol

Len Goodman to Kyle Massey: It was as though you were engulfed in a huge feather duster and you kept popping out here and there.
