DWTS Season 25, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Welp. Here we are again. It’s still summer, so I’m going to keep this brief – hopefully – then I’m going outside.

Overall, I thought the show was really good this past Monday – I don’t have any real gripes other than I think TO was underscored by a point or two.  I wonder why they seem to do that on purpose? It’s got to have been pointed out to them by NOW that they really almost always low ball the first dancer out of the gate, not just in week one, but in many/most weeks. WHY??? Seems stupid and artificial.

But other than that, I thought we had a pretty good night. No one really sucked. That happens from time to time, but usually week 2 is a real eye opener. We’ll see how it goes this week with two dances. …Read more

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 25, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

How much would I kill to see Derek’s choreography to “Look What You Made Me Do”?? So, so much. :::sigh:::

Anyway, everyone does a dance on Monday night (first song and dance listed for each couple). Those who survive the Monday night elimination do the second dance to the second songs listed below. Latin on Monday Night, Ballroom on Tuesday?? Or do I have them backwards? Sorry, Vogue is in charge of the press release. Vogue? Eh, doesn’t matter at this moment – All first dances listed are on one night, all second dances listed are on the other night. Good enough for now.

Winners: Vanessa, for sure. Really?? Foxtrot and Salsa?? Lindsay isn’t faring too badly with Salsa and Quickstep, although the quickstep is going to be harder than the foxtrot – but Mark is a better choreographer, so there you go.

Losers: Everyone who got Samba – widely recognized as the hardest dance to do. Rumba is also going to be tough. I think Debbie may be especially hosed with Quickstep and AT – harsh.

Opportunity: Sasha, Jordan and Nikki, in particular, have a real opportunity to show two very different sides to themselves and show a lot of range.

Other thoughts?

PureDWTS Season 25 Week 1 Media, Recaps, Scores, and Interviews After The Dances

Wow! Where do I start? First of all, I want to thank the producers of Dancing With The Stars for not getting any political figures to dance this season and trying to cause friction and alienate fans like the Emmy producers did Sunday night (stupid!). Instead, we are getting a season of “celebration” just like Tom Bergeron teased a few weeks ago. I have to say, I am loving all the contestants so far. They are all so different and fun. More on that later in Courtney’s Power Rankings post. 😉 For now, let’s review the scores;

Lindsey & Mark 22 (7, 8, 7)
Jordan & Lindsay 22 (8, 7, 7)
Vanessa & Maks 21 (7, 7, 7)
Nikki & Artem 20 (7, 7, 6)
Victoria & Val 19 (7, 6, 6)
Frankie & Witney 19 (7, 6, 6)
Sasha & Gleb 18 (6, 6, 6)
Derek & Sharna 18 (6, 6, 6)
Nick & Peta 18 (6, 6, 6)
Debbie & Alan 17 (6, 5, 6)
Drew & Emma 16 (6, 5, 5)
Terrell & Cheryl 15 (5, 5, 5)
Barbara & Keo 14 (5, 4, 5)

To watch the dances again, see Idolxfactor.com (these videos work internationally) and the official Your Tube page.

Ok, onto some media, recaps, and interviews. First up, see People. I loved what Victoria Arlen said of her dance below. Be sure to read more from others at the link;

“I feel like as much as it was seven years ago, I can go right back there and I saw a particular clip of me in the hospital and suddenly I was right back there trying everything to get something out of my legs,” said Arlen, who was visibly emotional and wiped away tears before performing. “To have watched this show through those challenging times and to finally be here, and then to look over and Val was getting emotional too, I was like, ‘I’m about to dance here in pink fringe and sparkles.’ It was just very surreal and incredibly emotional and far beyond anything that I could ever imagine. It was one of those moments where I just thought, ‘I’m really glad I lived.’ ”

Although Arlen admitted that the dance was a “challenging” one to learn, she is proud of herself for achieving her goal.

“I did it. I survived and made it. I climbed to the top of the mountain and my feet did what I needed them to do. It was incredible. It was just something – you set these dreams when you’re little and you never imagine the things that are going to take place that will derail everything,” she shared. “And to be so derailed and for it all to fall apart just to come back and be better and sparklier and just to nail it was incredible. I was like, ‘Don’t cry on national television, Victoria.’ But I did.”

Dancing with the Stars Season 25, Week ONE – Live Blog

Here we are again folks and finally the DWTS producers have decided to try a slightly (only very slightly) different formula than they have the past several seasons. Artem has a younger (possibly talented) partner, Alan has the potential ringer (maybe? Not sure – haven’t looked. Every other singer that comes on this show seems to get that label), Cheryl and Mark are back (yay!), and we have married couples competing against each other (oh, wait – not NEW but old and tired). Val doesn’t appear to have an actual ringer, but still has someone who will likely make it to the end just based on her story. Jury is out on Val being up to that challenge.

Let’s hope the opening number is as good as the one that Mandy won an Emmy for….

…And that was quite good. Well done, Mandy. When she focuses on content, she can get it done. I even liked the married couples part. As long as it doesn’t continue all season. The only gripe I have is the insertion of the celebs. I got my hopes up there that we were going to get a dance similar to that in season 5 or .

Cheryl and TO up first! Go Cheryl, show them who’s boss. 🙂

And she is not to be underestimated! That was an excellent dance. Look out folks, she ain’t playin’ and she got a good dance out of him. He appears to have some talent. He was also honest and seemed charming.

Keep in mind…they’ve had a few weeks to get this routine together. The REAL test is in weeks 2 and 3. If he’s still doing well next week and the week after, look out.

Massively underscored – that’s like, insane, to give him a 15. But let’s see how they score the other dancers. They may have it in their head to go low week 1. But odds are good that a chosen few who may not get votes will get higher scores. …Read more

DWTS Season 25 Week One Pre-Show Facebook Chats, Interviews, Blogs, And Previews Before Show Time

Things are really starting to steam up before show time. To see what I mean, see the Dancing With The Stars facebook page with some live facebook chats with Sasha Farber, Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews HERE.

Also, Cheryl Burke is really excited to be back this season as you know. You can read a Dancing With The Stars preview from her at Yahoo. I’ve always enjoyed her blogs. Here’s a take. Be sure to read the link for lots more.

My partner, Terrell Owens, and I started kind of late in the game. He just signed on, so we haven’t gotten to 100 percent know each other yet. We didn’t get that three-week grace period of training like everybody else did, but so far Terrell is just such a hard worker. And I’ve always said out of everybody I’ve danced with, I prefer athletes because of their hard work and determination and them just wanting to get it. What’s so great about athletes is they know how to be coached. They don’t get their feelings hurt. And I’m known to be a hardcore coach, and it’s basically tough love with me, so I don’t have to walk on eggshells with these athletes, especially with Terrell. Because if anyone can handle me, it’s definitely Terrell. I definitely don’t hold back with him. I really push him hard, and he can handle it.

It’s nice winning, but I have to say for me now, I love being able to change the audience’s perception of who my partner is. Which is why I came back last year for Ryan Lochte. Which is why I came back for Terrell Owens. These people have been labeled as certain personalities, and I love finding out that’s not who they really are. They’re really quite the opposite. It’s great to win a mirrorball and all that, but I love being able to change people’s lives and change people’s opinions on certain personalities I dance with.

Our first dance is the cha-cha, and we’re dancing to the song “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by the Temptations. This cha-cha is just about having fun and really showing you Terrell Owens behind the mask. Terrell’s fans will recognize a little end zone dance that he did. We’re definitely adding moves in this dance that you’ll recognize from when he would celebrate a touchdown.

I’m also looking forward to Latin Night. Latin dancing is something I specialized in when I competed back in my day, so I just love that we celebrate Latin night on Dancing With the Stars. It’s my specialty, it’s something I feel very comfortable with, and I think with Terrell being my partner, hopefully, we’ll do great. Hopefully we won’t be eliminated before that night!

And here’s a fun interview with Drew Scott and why he decided to dance. His wife is so cute.

Isn’t this a fun preview with Artem and Nikki Bella….

Lastly, I can’t get enough of these two jamming together. Watch out, we’ll get to hear this next week….

Stay tuned to the spot below. We may post more later….

ETA: I can’t get enough of these two either…
