I usually do more polls as the DWTS season progresses, but this year I’ve been kind of busy. However, at this point in the competition it’s a lot of fun to see who readers of Pure DWTS think will be in the top 3. This should provide some interesting results to compare with Courtney’s DWTS power rankings. You can vote for up to 3 couples from DWTS season 12. Tomorrow after we know the final 3 I’ll post another poll where you can vote for who you think will be the Dancing with the Stars Season 12 winner.
As you all know, one of the great things about having a popular Dancing with the Stars blog is that we can run polls and get an idea of who will be the winner of Dancing with the Stars 2011. Ok, so the polls aren’t always perfect, but the accuracy of our Dancing with the Stars polls has been pretty phenomenal. Plus, if nothing else it’s great fodder for those of us who follow all the Dancing with the Stars fun.
On that note, it’s time to vote for which couple will be the Dancing with the Stars 2011 winner. I’ll follow up later with the results of the poll and who the Pure DWTS readers believe will be the winner of season 12.
Which controversy caused the biggest stir on DWTS season 11?
brandy eliminated instead of Bristol 1
brandy’s elimination 1
maks in general 1
the haters of the palins causing such a vicious scene 1
Jennifer’s continued presence 1
Terribe treatment of Bristol Palin and Mark 1
BRANDY’S ELIMINATION 1
Heidi: LOL – someone wrote “maks in general”??? That’s hilarious. And it wasn’t me. I see we have two people upset over the “vicious scene” the “haters of the palins” caused. LOL – and you guys are into politics? Seriously?
Voguerista: This year took the “controversy cake”. I am just glad Bristol didn’t win first or second or think of the controversy backlash in that? Understandable too why someone wrote “Brandy’s Elimination”. Fans on twitter were more vicious than I had ever seen them.
Courtney: No big surprises here – in fact, I think Bristol’s presence seemed to actually spawn a few controversies of its own (“Boogate” and Brandy’s elimination – assuming that Bristol would have gone home had Brandy stayed). I think people wouldn’t have such a bad taste in their mouths post-season 11 had Bristol either gone home much earlier or perhaps hadn’t been on the show at all – it allowed politics to spill into something that is supposed to be fun and entertaining. I did have to chuckle at the response of “Maks in general” as well, although I think Maks was pretty tame this season in comparison to some of the Bristol backlash going on; and “Jennifer’s continued presence”? Really? I can’t recall too many people who were up in arms about her staying week after week…not nearly as many those who were upset about Bristol.
Which couple were you most disappointed to see eliminated?
The Situation and Karina 1
florence and corky 1
bristol and mark 1
Margaret and Louie 1
Mark and Bristol 1
Bristol and Mark 1
Heidi: So, four whole people were disappointed to see Bristol eliminated? What? You actually thought she should win? I want some of what you’re smoking please.
Voguerista: I remember thinking the elimination of Audrina and Tony was bad and then came the elimination of Maks and Brandy. *CRIES*
Courtney: Honestly, I think all of the eliminations from Audrina & Tony to Brandy & Maks were disappointing, since it seemed like better dancers were getting sent home while mediocre ones (who shall remain unnamed ;-)) remained. But I agree that Brandy’s cut was the unkindest of all – I did think she deserved to be in the finale, and I wanted to see what she had up her sleeve for the freestyle.

Of all the “nice guys” on the show this season, who was the most charming?
Derek Hough 2
mark ballas 2
Corky Ballas 1
Mark Ballas is the best 1
Mark Ballas 1
Voguerista: I had trouble picking between Kyle and Kurt. I see everyone else did too.
Courtney: I think in the end Kyle ended up charming viewers with his youthful energy, and the fact that he was around the longest probably made him more memorable in their minds. Kurt & Rick’s charm came more from their peaceful, grateful approach to being on the show – and the former interacting with his kids was totally endearing to me. As for the Sitch – he was just a lovable dork :-) I agree that Derek was charming this season, but I think he was the same as he was any other season; as for Mark…erm, did you guys see some of his backstage & red carpet interviews? I don’t know that he was necessarily charming in them.
John: Ok, based on the other answers, I guess we should have clarified that the pros don’t count in this award. Although, that’s an interesting idea for a future one.
Which routine was the most emotionally-charged on DWTS season 11?
Voguerista: I had a hard time choosing between the top winning three in this poll. Each was so good and commendable. But, in the end, I gave it to Jennifer and Derek because they literally brought tears to my eyes by the end of it. I don’t remember in any Season of DWTS getting that choked up. That’s when you know dancing has just hit new heights. I love that.
Courtney: I agree with everything Vogue said – each of these dances seemed to really get the celebs emotionally invested in them (which is why I chose them as the contenders), but in the end I think Jennifer’s Viennese waltz had the right combination of vulnerability, honesty, and good dancing. As for some of the “other” choices – I actually did contemplate putting Brandy & Maks’ waltz as an option, but then I remembered a lot of people thinking it was a little over-the-top and melodramatic, so it may not have fared so well in this category…I chose their rumba because it seemed a bit more natural in terms of emotion. I also actually considered Bristol & Mark’s waltz too, but decided against it because I felt like the drama of it came more from the music & lighting than it did from Bristol conveying any sort of emotion in it – and I believe Carrie Ann actually said something about that as well.
John: There were a bunch of Bristol related other answers. Not enough to dent the results, but that was a different meaning for emotionally charged than what we intended I think. Although, I know some of our male readers loved her. Emotion is a funny thing.

Which DWTS musical guest did you enjoy most?
Enrique Iglesias/enrique/enrique igleasis/Enrique Englasias/Eglasis/inrigue inglesia 11
Christina Aguilera/Christina Augulierra/christine aguillara/christina aquilara/christina agulara 8
Annie Lennox 5
Taio Cruz 4
John Legend 3
Bruno Marks 1
Rod Stewart 1
The little kids dancing 1
Santana/India Arie 1
Voguerista: Enrique by far! Sssss, where are your votes?
Courtney: I think I’d rather have a root canal than listen to Enrique shrieking on “I Like It”, lol. But it looks like Santana & Daughtry was the most crowd-pleasing…although I still enjoyed Heart quite a bit. Didn’t realize there were so many alternative spellings for Christina & Enrique’s names…one of the caveats of having the “other” category is the myriad of responses you get, hehe.
John: Well, this was probably my fault that we didn’t have Enrique and Christina on the poll. Even Ne-Yo and Annie Lennox would have likely done better if they were on the poll and not just a write in. Enrique will still be happy to know he has a lot of fans (even if they don’t know how to spell his name).
Who had the worst luck when it came to DWTS song choices?
jennifer and derek with So what 1
Kyle and Lacey’s Foxtrto to the “Charlie’s Angels” theme 1
Jennifer and derek’s 1st paso to rock star 1
derek and jennifer shut up 1
bristol and mark’s monkees 1
Voguerista: It seemed liked everyone was given a bad song choice at one time or another. I really wish officials would let the dancers and contestants pick their own songs. Sometimes it’s almost like they are setting some couples up to fail?
Courtney: I think the results of this one are very telling. Sitch & Karina got absolutely HOSED when they were given “Boom Boom Pow” for a foxtrot, but they managed to turn it into a memorable routine that actually managed to get the encore for the week – which to me illustrates the idea that a truly good pro can turn a crappy situation (no pun intended) into a decent routine. I’ve noticed a lot of fans try to blame song choice when their favorite couple has a ho-hum routine…and while I agree that a song can really influence the way a dance turns out, I think it’s ultimately up to the pros to make the best of the situation and suck it up. I really only think one of the above dances was truly bad – Margaret & Louis’ Viennese waltz – and I think that had more to do with the silliness going with the choreography than the music itself. For those in the “other” category – it’s interesting that a few of you thought Jennifer’s 1st paso to “So What” was a bad song choice, considering it’s already been used for a paso once before on the show (I believe it was Shawn & Mark’s first paso in season 8 – which I recall they did pretty well on); as for the TV theme week dances, I think everyone was probably equally bad off with their songs, since TV themes are pretty cheesey to begin with
Ok, so this was a totally unfair question to ask: Which Pure DWTS blogger did you like the most? So, I don’t actually think it’s a good idea to post the detailed results. Especially since I added the option, “I like all of you!” after many had voted.
I will say that even with adding the “I like all of you!” option late, it still won by a LANDSLIDE!! It had about 60% of the vote and that makes me very happy since to be quite honest, the bloggers on Pure DWTS are fantastic!
Some of the write in comments were also pretty funny:
have trouble telling you apart!
I don’t think this is a terrible thing. Although, if you look at the top of each post it says “Written by: Author’s Name” In fact, if you click on the person’s name, you can see all of the posts by that person. Of course, sometimes there are multiple people writing a post and this won’t reflect that.
the ones that weren’t vicious
I’m glad you like me;-) What can I say? Some like em vicious and some don’t.
Cheesecake my favourite!
Cheesecake is so good!! Plus, if you buy a Cheesecake Factory gift certificate right now they give you a free slice of cheesecake gift card. That’s an awesome deal if you’re like us and LOVE eating at cheesecake factory. In fact, we go in and just buy a bunch of gift certificates for ourselves so we can get the free cheesecake. Plus, my kids love to see it in their stockings. Yummy!! Oh wait…you meant the DWTS cheesecake? I like that too!

Thank you for addressing Princess Heidi properly.

Watch for the DWTS Awards early next week!
I’m sure many of you are wondering where the Cheesecake Awards are. Well, don’t worry, they are coming. Courtney and Heidi will certainly provide some special cheesecake for you just for the holidays. While we love the cheesecake awards, we decided that it would be a fun thing to have an awards that was a little more serious. So, the following is the Pure DWTS End of Season Awards.
First, I have to give Courtney props for doing most of the work in putting these award lists together with some help from the Pure DWTS writers. Next, you’ll notice that each poll has an “Other” option so if you don’t like the choices we’ve provided you can add in another choice. Also, be aware that the order of the choices in each poll is random and the results are hidden so we can have a really cool results post.
No doubt the following process isn’t perfect, but we do what we can to avoid any bias. That said, it’s just for fun anyway. So, vote your heart away, don’t get your panties all bunched up and we’ll post the results later.
My apologies for my absense the last few days. I’ve been delayed in posting some new things since our phone line was out and I didn’t have internet for a few days. Anyway, I am back. So, watch out. lol For starters, how about some video coverage of our finalists on The View this week in case you missed them (like I did).
Bristol and Kyle backstage:
Bristol and Mark on the show;
Kyle and Lacey on the show;
Lastly, Jennifer and Derek on the show;
So, how was your Thanksgiving holiday? I hope really good. More to come! So, stay tuned!!
Hey Guys!! Just because Season 10 has ended, don’t think for a second this site has closed down. We will try and fulfill your dancing needs all winter and ours too. Besides rumors will start surfacing soon. In fact, I think Heidi has one rumor she’s been keeping wrapped tight waiting for just the perfect moment to disclose it. Plus, you never know what’s in store for gossip, news, “Who wore it better posts”, and more. So, stick around if you know what’s good. With that said, here’s some fun media to share after our winning couple was crowned lastnight.
Derek and Jennifer being interviewed by The Insider;
A great wrap of of the night with ABC. Note what Bristol said on her “middle finger”.;
Kyle and Lacey being interviewed by Access Hollywood.
ET covering the night backstage;
Bristol talking some more on her “middle finger” with Access Hollywood (this makes me furious, not cool in my opinion). She says she’s had a lot of “offers” too. Hmmm….
Access Hollywood interviewing Jennifer and Derek after being crowned;
And here are our three finalists on Good Morning America today dancing and more. This is fun!;
Good Morning America also showed Maks and Robin Roberts finally doing their Cha Cha Cha together in honor of her 50th birthday. This makes me want to see more of her. Wouldn’t it be cool if she became a future contestant on the show? “Venturing out of your comfort zone” is good. ;
Lastly, here is our winning couple on the Jimmy Kimmel show lastnight;
Ok, more later All!! Wow, what a night and one of the best finales ever (imo)!! Vin you put it so well;
Last night’s finale was sick!!!
