New DWTS Season 12 Cast Rumors – Wendy Williams, Candice Cameron Bure, and Carlos Leon Possibilities & More

Finally, some serious Dancing With The Stars Cast rumors coming out. WTMA via The New York Post is reporting TV talk show host Wendy Williams will be a contestant on Season 12 of Dancing with the Stars. The quote below also mentions Kendra Wilkinson, Candice Cameron Bure, and Lorenzo Lamas (Lorenzo and Kendra we’ve heard might do the show before).

The New York Post reports Williams will put her show on hiatus while she participates next month. A spokesperson for The Wendy Williams Show was unable to confirm the report.

Other celebrities rumored to be joining the cast this season include reality star Kendra Wilkinson of Girls Next Door, former Full House star Candice Cameron Bure and former Renegade star Lorenzo Lamas.

Here is a picture of Wendy Williams in case you don’t know who she is.

Here is a picture of Candice Cameron Bure.

This is a “wannabe” long shot. But, Marc Malkin of E Online (who is known for sticking some DWTS rumors out there that end up being true which is why I thought this might be worthy of a mention?) is reporting Carlos Leon (a former flame of Madonna’s and father to her daughter Lourdes) has recently expressed he wants to do the show. Madonna first met Carlos in a gym. They’ve worked out together and have been friends ever since.

One of her ex-boyfriends tells me he wants the chance to compete for the mirror ball trophy.

And it’s not just any ex…

“I”ve gotten quite a few offers to do reality shows,” says Carlos Leon, AKA Lourdes’ dad. “I got offered to do Dancing With the Stars a couple years back. I didn’t do it, but if they come up with the offer again, I would totally do it.”

Here is Carlos.

So, talk to us. What do you think of these possibilities? I’m open to all the above. If Candice is dancing, I hope she gets Maks and I’d love it if Carlos danced on the show. I bet he has some moves. I can see him with Cheryl. I bet they could pull off a killer Argentine Tango!

Thanks to PureDWTS readers Nathan and Vin for the help with this post! Heidi too for adding some links from past posts on Lorenzo and Kendra.

ETA: And Candace says NO.

DWTS – Cheryl Burke’s Press Tour For New Book “Dancing Lessons” (Excerpt from Book)

Cheryl is making her rounds on TV (Good Morning America, Extra, Entertainment Tonight, and The Ellen Show) today. Here she is on Good Morning America this morning.

You can also read this exclusive excerpt from her new book “Dancing Lessons” where she writes all about her life, her love, and Dancing With the Stars. Much more of the excerpt at Good Morning America.

The Freestyle: Finding Myself in the SpotlightThe freestyle dance is not restricted by any conventional steps or required choreography. It is simply a dance in which the dancer can showcase whatever movement or emotion seems appropriate.

I’ve always been kind of a play-by-the-rules girl; I tend to like things structured, predictable, and sometimes even a little boring. But all of that changed on February 26, 2006, the last night of my first season on Dancing with the Stars. It was an evening when all of my rules went out the window and everything in my life suddenly changed for the better. Yet I almost missed out on what has been the greatest adventure of my life so far because I was afraid to break out of the comfortable mold in which I was living. I know it sounds unbelievable to say that I almost turned down the opportunity to star as a professional dancer on the hit reality dance show, but that’s the truth.

Six months prior to that February night, I was living in New York City with my boyfriend and ballroom dance partner when suddenly I received a phone call from one of the show’s producers, who wanted to talk to me about the show on ABC. The dancer Louis van Amstel, whom I knew from the ballroom dance world, worked on season one of the show, and he recommended that the producers get in touch with me. I didn’t have an agent at the time; some of the producers just saw me perform at a competition in Los Angeles and agreed that I might be exactly what they were looking for, so Louis passed along my number.

My immediate reaction was to turn them down because of my strong fear of cameras. But the more I thought about it, the more I figured, “Why not? Give it a chance, at least, before you turn them down.” So I went to Manhattan for the meeting, but even then I was not bowled over with enthusiasm. I kind of downplayed it to my dancer friends, who were as skeptical as I was.

Extra also interviewed her. Note what she said about being on the show this upcoming Season in bold text.

Cheryl decided to go public with her painful story in her new book, “Dancing Lessons,” which is also an account of her lifetime struggle with her body image, and the travails of enduring two abusive exes. “I had no self-esteem. I had no self-confidence.”

The dancer also recalled gaining 10 pounds and receiving negative attention from the media. “And then the next day I had to go and perform in front of millions of people in skimpy outfits.” During that time, Burke revealed she did not have the support of Max and Louie, her co-stars on “Dancing.” “That was very hurtful, but we are at peace now and everything is fine.”

Burke went on to tell Adrianna that she has “a good feeling” she will be back for season 12 of “DWTS,” but has yet to find out who her new partner will be. The new cast will be announced on February 28.

And here she is on The Ellen Show. I love some of the pictures from the book they show in this.

Entertainment Tonight also interviewed HERE.

DWTS Season 12 Cast Rumors – Al Sharpton Says “No” To Dancing With The Stars

Well, dang!! Al Sharpton would have been a hoot on the show in my opinion. From TMZ today.

Rev. Al Sharpton just turned down ANOTHER offer to join “Dancing with the Stars” … but not because he’s scared of the competition — in fact, Al insists, “I’ve got moves … I’D BLOW ‘EM OUT!!”

The Rev claims he just doesn’t have the time due to his commitments with the National Action Network — but wants to make one thing clear … “There would be no chance for anybody to touch me!”

Be sure to visit the link to see a video of him too. I’d embed it here, but, they have the embedding feature turned off. Here he is busting some moves. lol

DWTS Season 12 Gossip and Innuendo – LeAnn Rimes

I saw this the other day and ignored it because I thought it was likely just more crap. LeAnn is a bit too big for the show – or she was. LeAnn says she was asked three times, including (or in addition to) this season. I don’t think I believe LeAnn here. For one thing, she implies that Benji Schwimmer is on the show and that she would only do it if he did it. Really?? I hope like hell they don’t hire Benji to get LeAnn. A DWTS sans Derek I can deal with. A DWTS WITH Benji? Not so much. I didn’t think he was a ballroom dancer, in any case.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Pure DWTS – Fascinating Things We Should Know About Derek Hough & Hong Kong Coverage

Dance Spirit has a great article up about Derek and 8 things we should know about him. Some details below, but, be sure to visit the site for much more. If you are like myself, there are some fascinating things you might not have heard before. Special thanks to Heidi and Pure Derek Hough for this news. Plus, if you haven’t swung by her site for Derek lately, be sure to do so as she’s got some great new high quality pictures of Derek and Julianne performing in Hong Kong and MORE.

4. He’s a perfectionist.

Derek holds himselfβ€”and his partnersβ€”to an incredibly high standard. But at one time, it was almost too high. β€œI mentally self-destructed on competition days,” Derek says of his early days on the ballroom scene. β€œI was terribleβ€”I would fall apart, I would throw up. I’ve always danced better in rehearsals than I’ve ever danced in any competition.” Derek credits his time on β€œDWTS” to helping him let go, saying it taught him
β€œto have more patience.”

5. The β€œDWTS” schedule is demanding, but Derek’s no stranger to hard work.

While training with the Ballas family in London, Derek undertook an extremely intense training regimen. His days were filled with classes at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where he studied everything from math to acting to music. After school, Derek, Mark Ballas and Julianne honed their Latin ballroom skills until 11 pm every night. Weekends were filled with lessons and competitions, and the rigid routine repeated every week. β€œIt was a seven-day training regime that was hardcore and full-on,” Derek remembers.

6. The Ballas family changed the course of Derek’s dance career.

When he was 7, Derek met ballroom legend Shirley Ballas while taking master classes at Center Stage, and she immediately took notice of the budding superstar. β€œHe and Julianne were like little stars,” she recalls. β€œOne time, he didn’t come to class. I inquired about where he was and found out they were going through family difficulties. I asked someone to get in touch with him and, out of the blue, he asked if he could come live with me in London.” Derek and Julianne went on to live with Shirley, her then-husband Corky and son Mark (now both β€œDWTS” pros as well) for close to a decade.

7. Derek loves to take risksβ€”on and off the floor.

Rick Robinson affectionately calls Derek β€œwild and crazy”—and we can see why! He’s been known to do everything from back-flipping off the judges’ table to breaking the β€œDWTS” rules with illegal lifts. Although Derek credits Corky for inspiring his β€œout of the box” ideas, Shirley Ballas says Derek’s been a daredevil ever since he was a tiny dancer. β€œHe loved gymnastics and was always trying different tricks,” she says. β€œWe tried to make him feel like he could conquer the world. If you instill fear, fear is what you will haveβ€”Derek is fearless.”

8. If it wasn’t for β€œDWTS,” Derek might not have returned to the U.S.
Derek was a star of the stage way before he stepped out on the small screen. While still in London, he had the lead role in the West End production of Footloose, and last year, he starred on Broadway opposite β€œDWTS” pro Kym Johnson and β€œSYTYCD” fave Mary Murphy in Burn the Floor. Without β€œDWTS,” Derek says he might have taken an entirely different course: β€œI was in London, busy doing my thing, and got the opportunity to come do the show,” he says. β€œI couldn’t pass it by.”

Pure DWTS – Kym Johnson And Julianne Hough At The Grammy Awards

A few of our pro dancers were seen at the Grammy Awards last night. Julianne showed up on the Red Carpet in a dress designed by Catherine Malandrino. I wasn’t sure I liked it on her at first. But, it reminded me of Spring. And well, Julianne just says β€œSpring” anyway.

You can see a Red Carpet interview with TV Guide with Julianne >>>>HERE!!! They ask her if she’ll ever return to Dancing With The Stars.

Kym was intervewed backstage by 965Tic Radio. I couldn’t embed it, but you can listen at the link. The link has a little picture of her as well. She discusses the DWTS Hair extensions used on the show, the new Season, and David Hasselhoff.

Just a little heads up too that Cheryl Burke will be on The Ellen Show tomorrow promoting her new book too. So, stay tuned. We’ll try and post some video footage.

DWTS Season 12 Cast Rumors – Time To Address The Brett Favre DWTS Rumors (Daughter Tweets “No”)

At the beginning of this week, we were hit with an article from Popeater with Kurt Warner’s desire for Brett Favre to dance on Dancing With The Stars. Since that time, other news sources have picked it up and the rumors have grown like a wildfire. Will Brett Favre dance on the show or not remains to be seen. But, the quote below (in bold text) from Popeater had me thinking this is not going to happen from the beginning of the week onward and why I dismissed even reporting it.

Kurt has made his thoughts on Brett known before, and recently told The New York Times that although he’s a “surefire Hall of Famer” and one of the game’s greatest, “I do think some of the things that happened off the field has to hurt his legacy to some degree. I do think people look at him differently now — at least in the short term — than they did five years ago.”

Maybe Brett should follow Kurt’s advice and dance those cell phone images right out of our minds. That’s if ABC would ever invite him, a prospect that my source says is unlikely.

“No way would ‘Dancing’ want any part of Brett,” a show insider tells me. “They love having colorful people in the cast but you have to remember this is a family show and not the right fit for someone who has been accused of e-mailing private photos of himself to young ladies.”

Not only that, USA Today is reporting that he won’t be dancing on the show. His daughter just posted this tweet this morning.

Brittany Favre, the daughter of longtime NFL QB Brett Favre, moved to stop speculation that he father might be joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars on Friday.

“No to DWTS rumors,” Brittany Favre said on Twitter a day after speculation ran wild that the 41-year-old QB might be the next NFL player to join the show.

http://twitter.com/brittanyfavre/status/36104422425628672

I would say this is a “NO” go? Keep in mind though that an ABC news affiliate has reported Favre is on a “DWTS Shortlist”.

Heidi’s Comment: I think this entire thing comes from the mouth of Kurt Warner. And ABC is regurgitating crap they heard, which is regurgitated crap they heard, which is regurgitated crap they heard and so on. See it every day on twitter – the wishful thinking of one person turns into fact by the great game of “telephone”. I could be wrong. πŸ™‚
