And The New Cast of DWTS Season 28 Is….GMA Live Blog

Well, today’s the day!! Christie Brinkley? Hannah B? Gronk, Camille, Jessica..? Michael, Magic, Kobe?? Who the hell knows. I’d be willing to bet that close to half the cast we won’t be surprised about. Just say no to Abby Lee Miller. Sweet Jesus.

And, unfortunately, it sounds like a lot of the pros will be back. Sorry – love the women – but I feel the male side needs a good solid shake. 🙂

Show starts in T-minus 15 minutes…

Of course they had to ask Ginger if she saw her dance partner, Val, upstairs and she of course says yes. Lord, get over it already.

Sounds like 8:18 is the time. Gonna run for the shower. Let me know if there are any stupid hints between now and then.

Uptown is Christie Brinkley, IMO. I don’t have rewind capability…other clues? “Office”?? Rainn Wilson? That could be interesting. Crossing the Creek…James Van Der Beek? Joshua Jackson? Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

ABC Entertainment President, Karey Burke, Teases On The New Season Of Dancing With The Stars

Well, we aren’t really learning anything new from other teasers recently, but, exec from ABC, Karey Burke, talked a little on the changes coming to the new season of Dancing With The Stars which sound good. From TV Line….

Speaking with TVLine last week at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour, Burke offered new insight into the retooled DWTS, which returns Monday, Sept. 16 at 8/7c. For starters, the exec characterized the alterations as “format tweaks” vs. format changes,” adding, “It’s about [shifting] the focus of the show to really focus on it being a celebration of dance, and also focusing on the celebrities.”

By “leaning into its strengths,” Burke believes DWTS will once again cement its position as “the most entertaining dance show on television.”

Meanwhile, Burke remained mum on Season 28’s celeb cast, but promised the lineup is “really good.”

“Impressive Names” Coming To Dancing With The Stars Season 28?

In May, we got a little teaser from Deadline on the format changes coming to Dancing With The Stars Season 28. They also talked on the possibility of bigger stars doing the show. Now there is another teaser from the same source. Let’s just say they are hoping these tweaks and the new casting will help the show stick around after this season….

“The producers were just in last week talking about the casting and the creative evolution. It’s all very exciting. It won’t be major format changes, just tweaking and tinkering… the show’s been on so long and it’s been so successful elsewhere, I think they’ve done quite an impressive job of looking at what works,” she said.

Burke added that the hope is the format tweaks will lead to more seasons of the show.

“I’m quite excited about the casting they’ve put together. It’s not done, but the names that I have heard [are impressive]. I think it’s going to be a big season,” she said.

Chris Harrison From Bachelor in Paradise Talks On Which Alums Would Be Successful On DWTS

ET caught up with Chris Harrison who is the host of Bachelor in Paradise. He talked of which alums from the show would be successful on Dancing With the Stars. Read on and then see this link for more. Hannah Brown, Colton Underwood, and Tyler Cameron are all mentioned…

While Harrison had high hopes for recent Bachelorette Hannah Brown, he wasn’t so optimistic about Underwood’s chances.

“If Hannah’s on, she’d be great. Colton I don’t think would be great,” Harrison told ET.

Despite thinking that Underwood is “awesome,” Harrison said the former NFL player would have to “take his shirt off on day one and use his unbelievable charm and charisma and personality” to compete on DWTS.

“I love Colton. He’s like my little brother. He’s not a good dancer,” Harrison said of Underwood, who chose Cassie Randolph at the end of his season of The Bachelor. “… He has no rhythm at all. That doesn’t come to you.”

Though he’s uncertain about Underwood’s dancing abilities, Harrison confirmed that the 27-year-old reality star would make for “great TV.”

“He’ll go far ’cause, here’s the thing with Colton, he is a ridiculous athlete, obviously, he’s a world-class athlete, and he grinds and he will try,” Harrison said. “He will put in the effort, but I’m talking he’s at zero, he might get a two if he crushes it. Whereas Hannah is a performer. I think she can dance. She’ll be at a four [and] can get up to an eight.”

If there happened to be a showdown between Brown and Underwood, Harrison said he’d put his money on Brown to walk away with the Mirrorball Trophy.

While he’s firmly on Team Brown in a potential DWTS faceoff, there’s another Bachelorette alum that Harrison would like to see in the ballroom — her runner-up, Tyler Cameron.

“Why isn’t it Tyler [on Dancing With the Stars]?” he said. “Tyler dances. He had the whole Footloose thing!”

More DWTS Season 28 Watch Outs (Bigger Celebs?), Secret Format Changes, And More

Will there be bigger celebrities for Dancing With The Stars Season 28? According to Deadline, this is a huge possibility. More below including names Jennifer Love Hewitt and Katelyn Ohasi being thrown out there. Also, their could be some format changes….

“We have been pitched some really fun format changes for Dancing with the Stars by the executive producers but right now they are top secret. [Reality chief] Rob Mills and I had a meeting with them a couple of months ago and got very excited about some of the new ideas that they were talking about to freshen up the format. It’s still the show that audience knows and loves but they’ve got some good ideas in terms of how to surprise people in new ways,” she said.

Burke, speaking at the Disney press upfronts event, added that it was “going after bigger stars than we have in a long time” as the series returns on Monday nights between 8pm and 10pm. This comes after radio host Bobby Bones won the last season, beating the likes of Harry Potter alum Evanna Lynch, Fuller House‘s Juan Pablo Di Pace and former Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider to the top prize.

It will unlikely have trouble finding top names; I Know What You Did Last Summer star Jennifer Love Hewitt recently revealed that she would be interested in appearing and gymnast and viral sensation Katelyn Ohasi said she had been in talks to join.

The ABC chief also said that resting the show, which is based on BBC format Strictly Come Dancing, should have a positive impact. “Resting the show does help us focus on talent and we will go after people that we think will be the strongest. That has been a gift and the producers are chomping at the bit to bring it back next fall,” she added.

More at Deadline. Personally, I never cared about “big names. I just want good dancing and great and creative choreography.

Pure DWTS Watch Out: Olympian Gus Kenworthy Would Love To Do Dancing With The Stars

Olympian skier Gus Kenworthy tells US Weekly he’d love to Dancing With The Stars, but, can he dance? Read below to find out. You can also read more on the possibility of the Shib Sibs taking on the show.

“I would love to,” Kenworthy told Us. “I had been lobbying to try and be on it … last year and really wanted to be, and then it didn’t work out, but I was told that there was interest on their end. So I was definitely hoping that maybe after this Olympics, it’d be a possibility.”

The ABC competition series has been a favorite of Olympians over the years, with five — Apolo Anton Ohno, Kristi Yamaguchi, Shawn Johnson, Meryl Davis and Laurie Hernandez — taking home the coveted mirror ball trophy over the course of 25 seasons.

Don’t be too quick to put all your money on Kenworthy, though. “I really can’t dance, but for me, those are my favorite people to watch on the show,” the 26-year-old freestyle skier said. “Like, the Steve-Os and the people that have no previous experience. And I feel like when it’s like one of the Pussycat Dolls, I’m like, ‘But like, aren’t you already a professional dancer?’”

Us also talked to Olympic ice dancers Maia and Alex Shibutani (a.k.a. the Shib Sibs) about the possibility of competing on DWTS. Though they disagreed about who would come out on top, the brother-sister duo would be open to the opportunity. “I think it would be fun, because we’ve been working so long on something together, where I guess we can be competitive and he thinks he’s got it, but I think I got it,” Maia told Us.

He’s a cutie. I can see him with Sharna. More at US Weekly including videos. If you haven’t read all of our rumors for the Dancing With The Stars Sports Edition, be sure to do so HERE.
