Ok… I am not happy… I mean Sabrina was actually growing and doing better and better. She was actually opening up and she has such an engaging personality it is like, “what the hell?” But then again TPTB probably have so much invested in Gilles and Kelly that Sabrina got the short end of the stick…
Ah well… what can you do? I know it has been a while since I did one of these… but in all honesty it is getting towards that point in the season where the comparison statistics may actually look decent. Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the chart where it compares the predicted scores with the actuals between Sabrina’s original Season 5 and the current Season 15:
Confused? Yeah I was too… but before I break the above down even further… let’s look at the data between Season 5 and Season 15:
There… now that you have the data let’s go back to the charts: Read more..
She was given the lowest score of the night on Monday… and even my elimination predictions have her not just towards the bottom of the list… but in last place as well. The Week 1 Score Predictions had her scored second the last ranking just above Kelly Monaco and Valentin Chmerkovskiy (who scored far higher on Monday night).
So yeah, she didn’t really have a lot going for her here no matter how you look at it.
So enough with what happened during Week 1… let’s look back with her time prior to Season 15. How did she fare and did she even stand a chance? Well hard to say. So what I did was go back in time and looked at her actual scores during her time on Season 10 and compared it with how her score predictions would have looked prior to Season 10. Then for the hell of it I also added the scores predicted for Season 15 using the same dances from Season 10… and let’s say the results were fascinating…
First the table:
Looking at the numbers alone she was all over the spectrum. There were some dances she scored higher than… while others she scores below… and still others right on par. But if we were to take the average score from the predicted scores of Season 10 vs the actual scores… Season 10 Average Prediction: 21.708 Season 10 Average Actual: 22.286
Almost a whole half-point difference. Which sometimes doesn’t seem like a lot, but in the world of stats and mathematics is a hell of a whole lot.
So how does this look like on a graph?
Her actual scores from Season 10 appear to be all over the spectrum when compared to the Season 10 predicted scores… while when compared with the Season 15 predictions are a little more in line…
Now I wouldn’t go so far as to say whether she was over or under scores in any capacity mainly because I have to rewatch the episodes to know that… but I am kind of curious to see how the other celebrities stack up in hindsight when comparing their actual scores with the various predictions.
For some reason I have a sneaky suspicion that a few of these stars are being set up as elimination fodder in the guise of being an “All-Star”. Yeah, I know… TPTB are always trying to set up storylines in an effort to propel others…
Right now, Pamela was the most obvious as elimination fodder…. if the first four eliminations include at least two of the above… if not three… well let’s say I wouldn’t be surprised.
So at long-last, we have EVERYONE’s pictures, since Kirstie & Sabrina’s were released last week. We can definitely see the chosen color pattern for this season was blue, purple, and various shades of black, white, and silver - and after going through all these pictures with a fine-toothed comb, I can see that the costume department has been extra busy hacking apart, dying, and generally futzing around with pretty much any costume they can get their hands on. The few costumes that seemed to escape the carnage probably could have stood to be altered a bit…needless to say, I’m becoming progressively less impressed with the costumes as the post-Randall seasons wear on. Randall, are you out there? If so, can you please come back and slap the clowns in the costume department across the face with a raw trout and tell them to quit acting a fool?
Anywho, if you’d like to repeat the magic of part I, you can check it out here. And be kind, kids – this particular edition was an absolute betch to put together.
Battle of the black, see-through lace asymmetrical dress with silver bra/season 3 Emmitt & Cheryl vs. season 15 Emmitt & Cheryl: Emmitt & Cheryl’s season 3 promo photo vs. Emmitt & Cheryl’s season 15 promo photo vs. Cheryl’s cha-cha with Chris in season 12
Courtney: This one had me stumped for the longest time – and as I found with a lot of the costumes in this half of the pre-season 15 edition, I just happened to stumble upon the ditto whilst looking for other stuff Praise the lord for happy accidents! Anywho, I think what throws me in Emmitt & Cheryl’s all-star promo photo is that he seems very laid back and happy-go-lucky – and she’s giving us this smoldering sexpot look. Needless to say, there is a bit of a disconnect – which is why I like their season 3 promo photo better. And I actually like her dress in her cha-cha with Chris better than I thought – maybe the pearls make it seem less…skankalicious. And the tousled hair with the tinsel was a fun touch.
Heidi: Heh – their promo has cognitive dissonance written all over it. I also like the version in the dance with Chris and I can’t quite put my finger on why. You’re probably right about the pearls – but they are also very odd, considering the underlying style of the dress. Just all around weirdness. I, too, liked Cheryl before her Kardashianification. Clearly spending too much time with those girls, she is.
The verdict: Hangin’ out with the Kardashians is baaaad, mmmkay? Read more..
Dance alert! The new cast of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars will be announced on Friday, July 27! Are you ready for this?! #DWTS
This is Vogue with an update: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement will take place during the Television Critics Association summer press tour. Here is more…
The network, which hasn’t officially set its fall premiere dates yet, will debut the ensemble of previous DWTS competitors during its presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Previously, announcements for DWTS have come just three weeks shy of the premiere and been televised during Good Morning America or the network’s primetime programming block. The move also signals that the cast will have more time to prepare for the competition — or, less likely, an August premiere.
With all of the coverage of the upcoming all-star season we’ve been doing, we realize it can get a little hard to keep up and remember who’s said yes, who’s said no, who’s just a maybe, etc. So for the sake of maintaining everyone’s sanity and trying to keep at least some degree of organization, here’s a handy list of what celebs we’ve been covering as it pertains to the all-star season, broken down by their original season, along with a brief summary of where they stand. We’ll keep this post stuck to the main page until the cast announcement, and we’ll post updates in redas they come in.
ETA #1: Updated with coverage of Joey Fatone & Trista Sutter, and an update of Ralph Macchio.
ETA #2: Added info on Kelly Monaco.
ETA #3: Update on Maria Menounos.
ETA #4: A little over 24 hours until the cast announcement and updates & rumors coming fast & furious! Thanks Vogue & Heidi Updates on Gilles Marini, Joey Fatone, Melissa Rycroft, Stacy Keibler, Kendra Wilkinson, & Carson Kressley; added info on Melissa Joan-Hart & Pamela Anderson.
Trista Sutter – a few interesting tweets that seemed to imply she was heading somewhere to do something secret, but now says she is definitely not taking part in the all-star season Kelly Monaco – hinted at a GH fan event that she was “going to need fans’ help with something that’s getting announced next Friday!”
Jerry Springer - said he may do SOMETHING for the show and would love to be in the audience, but wouldn’t dance again Mario Lopez – spilled the beans about being asked to do the all-star season on Live with Kelly way back in May, and was thinking about it; however, he now says he’s “too busy” and “doesn’t think he’ll be able to do it” – mentioned as a rumored candidate to host X-factor Joey Lawrence - asked fans on Twitter to vote for him to get on the all-star season
So many of you brought it to our attention that Donny was asked about doing the all-star season the other day on The Talk, and I was finally able to locate a clip. While he seemed to tend more towards the “no” side (“It’s a lot of work!” and “I have one mirror ball trophy I rub in Marie’s face. Why two???), he did say he’d “love to get that trophy again!”. Video below for those who want to see for themselves…it’s around the 10:00 mark. Notice how Donny looks a bit guilty & fidgety when first asked about it:
So while Donny seems to give the impression of “sounds fun, but I’m super busy”, I wouldn’t necessarily write him off as a no-go for the all-star season. I wouldn’t write Marie off just yet, either. Why, you ask?
Our reader Christy pointed out to us last week that Donny & Marie both appear to have cleared their schedules for the fall, as the last event either of them have listed on their respective websites is a gig in Atlantic City on August 5. After that, they have nothing scheduled until their UK tour in January of next year. Are they allocating time to participate in the all-star season, perhaps?
What about their long-running Vegas show? Well, officially, their show at the Flamingo is contracted through October of this year, so there could be a bit of overlap if they do decide to do the all-star season…but the show is dark on Monday evenings, and having a Vegas show sure didn’t seem to stop Donny during his season on DWTS, as Sharon aptly pointed out on The Talk. And as of right now, you’re only able to purchase tickets for their Vegas show through July 28 on the Flamingo website. Could they be ending their run in Vegas early, and heading for Hollywood to go head-to-head in the all-star season?
I decided to get a bit sneaky and see what I could find out by calling the Flamingo box office. I pretended to be a daughter whose parents were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and were planning a trip to Vegas, and I wanted to gift them with tickets to the finale of Donny & Marie’s Vegas show in October. The sales rep on the other end of the line, while very friendly, got a bit dodgy with me at that point, and delivered the obligatory “I’m sorry, ma’am, at this time we have only opened ticket sales for shows leading up to July 28. But if you call back in a month or so, we might have tickets available for shows at a later date.” Bah…cop-out. It could mean nothing – maybe they’re still planning out the last few months of the show’s run. But I thought it was interesting nonetheless, and gave me some food for thought.
So what do you guys think about Donny and/or Marie possibly coming back for the all-star season? Let’s get your thoughts…
