DWTS19 Going Into Week 2 Las Vegas Odds Discussion

What an interesting shake up at Sports Bovada going into week 2 of Dancing With The Stars. Note how they gave Lolo Jones 7 to 1 odds last week….and well, we know how that turned out. So, when you take a look at the new odds for this week, do you think the odds makers have it right this time?

Alfonso Ribeiro 3/2
Sadie Robertson 3/1
Bethany Mota 7/1
Lea Thompson 15/2
Janel Parrish 8/1
Jonathan Bennett 10/1
Randy Couture 15/1
Tavis Smiley 15/1
Antonio Sabato Jr. 25/1
Tommy Chong 33/1
Betsey Johnson 100/1
Michael Waltrip 100/1

Last week’s Odds:

Alfonso Ribeiro 3/1
Janel Parrish 5/1
Antonio Sabato Jr. 6/1
Jonathan Bennett 7/1
Lolo Jones 7/1
Sadie Robertson 9/1
Bethany Mota 10/1
Tavis Smiley 12/1
Randy Couture 15/1
Lea Thompson 20/1
Betsey Johnson 33/1
Michael Waltrip 33/1
Tommy Chong 50/1

My thoughts: I think they have the odds pretty correct. Though I am not convinced on Lea yet. I think they should switch her and Randy Couture. Even though Tavis had a great showing, I thought Antonio made a better one. As for everyone else, I think they are placed about right…for now.

Let’s see what Heidi and Courtney think and be sure to let us know on your thoughts too in comments.

Heidi: Actually, unless Val picks it up (and the judges start pimping), I think Randy should be switched with *Janel*, not Lea. Lea is a dancer and a very good one, even considering her age. Her only drawback may be Artem. Artem needs to choreograph for the US audience, not the UK one.  We’ll see if he gets there. I rewatched Lea’s foxtrot again and it was beautiful. I actually think they have the top 4 right, and the number 1 right. I expect if any of them have an off week the odds will change but I doubt that will change the reality. Hard to say. The youngsters don’t always get the votes. I would not be surprised to see Sadie beat both Janel and Bethany though because the girl is goofy and charming. Bethany is too, but she’s a bit quieter, I think. But…maybe that was just week 1. Derek knows what he has to do for her to stand out.  If he gets the idea that she’s not? Look out. :-)  I think I would switch Tommy and Tavis as well.

Courtney: Hehehe…heavy is the crown, huh Janel & Antonio? Antonio’s drop in this week’s odds is particularly spectacular – here they had him as this big contender, and he…well, wasn’t.  Just like we said :-) And I wouldn’t rule him out as a possible early elim. And for all the boasting Val did on Twitter about how great his partner is (and for all the showmancing they did), Janel ended up looking just ok up against the likes of Bethany, Sadie, Alfonso, & even Randy. Those two have got a LOT of hard work ahead of them if they expect to have a fighting chance against some of the names I just mentioned. Still think Randy is better than they’re giving him credit for – he made a far bigger splash than Tavis, and yet they still have them neck-and-neck.  Michael is not a great dancer, but I think he’s got a better chance of sticking around than Betsey – people seem to be taking a liking to him.

Dancing with the Stars Season 19, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What….and When? (Song Spoilers)

Well, well, well….DWTS tryin’ to spoil our spoilin’. Those crazy kids. Maybe some knickers were twisted by last weeks spoiling?? LOL

Hey, Lea mentioned doing something with “Back to the Future” or a “surprise” for next week – think next week is Personal Story week? ;-)

Anyway, here are the dances and a few songs for you folks. Derek is about as subtle as a sledge hammer with his song, and DWTS spoiled Janel’s and hinted at Alfonso’s. So, just to be contrary, we’re throwing in Randy’s too. Unless they’ve spoiled that somewhere as well. Bummed that Janel is almost certain to ruin my happy memories of “Call Me Maybe”.

Anyone else think that Sadie and Mark will KILL the Jazz?? I sure do.

ETA: We’d appreciate you not jumping the gun in comments, thanks.

ETA2: Well, ABC reallllly wanted to be in charge of releasing the songs this week, as they’ve put them all in a press release, spoiling all our fun. ;-)

Monday’s show kicks-off with a spectacular opening number featuring the full cast and judges dancing to a medley of the judges’ favorite songs. Each couple will then perform a variety of dances, including the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Jive and Rumba, to their favorite jam. (Heidi’s Note: yeah, not so much.)

Oh, and this (results show) has potential…

Judge Julianne Hough takes to the ballroom floor and will dance in a number featuring Derek Hough and the male Pros.

Antonio and Cheryl – Rumba (Song: “Adorn” by Miguel)
Vote: 1-800-868-3402

Tavis and Sharna – Cha Cha Cha (Song: “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire)
Vote: 1-800-868-3412

Bethany and Derek – Foxtrot (Song: “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor ) …Read more

DWTS Season 19 Week 1 Media After The Results Show, More Premiere Interviews

What a great results show last night!! It was so good to see the pros dancing in more numbers. Though unfortunately, someone always has to go home. The couples as well as our eliminated couple Lolo and Keo talk all about it below with Access Hollywood and Afterbuzz TV. Lolo also talked with People about her elimination at this link. E Online also has some interviews and coverage after the show (sorry I can’t embed those as they mess up the site). Lastly, ABC7 has posted George Pennacchio’s interviews from premiere night. Lots of fun things to watch and listen to when you get time today. One more thing: don’t miss seeing some pics of the pros at an after party Monday night at Just Jared Jr. Really cute!!

ETA: Afterbuzz TV is loading more Results show interviews as I type. Be sure to see them all at this link.

ETA2: Lolo and Keo’s GMA interview this morning has been added below.

DWTS Season 19 Week ONE RESULTS!! Let’s discuss tonight’s show! (Spoilers)

Yay – a results show!! Let’s hope for some great dancing!! Maybe material for cheesecake, if Courtney and I are feeling up to it. :-)

Once again, comment to your hearts contents, as long as you remember the show night rules.

  1. Our server gets totally hosed when people sit at their computer and click “refresh” constantly. Post a comment, then walk away for five minutes so that others have a chance…and so that Courtney and I can actually post on the site. :-)
  2. THIS SITE IS NOT TWITTER. Do not post like you are on twitter. You get one warning and then I put you in time out. :-) We need context and content. Believe it or not there are a lot of people who don’t watch the east coast feed of the show, so they don’t know what the hell you’re talking about when you post a comment that says, “Boy, that sucked.”  If you want to say “____ and ____’s dance was not good at all, crappy choreo” that’s fine. That would be context. It is good. :-D  Remember, if you post five one liners in five minutes, you’ve broken rule number 1. ;-)

Lots of fun ppl in the audience like…..RALPH MACCHIOOOOOOOOO !!! (I love him.)

Nice opening dance by the women – Allison and Whitney pretty much rule this style but they were all awesome. :-)

Thought for sure they were gonna call Betsey safe. That they didn’t makes me question whether she actually IS safe.

So, I guess we’re putting four in jeopardy? Lea? That’s just wrong.

Allison is just a BEAST.

Oh. My. God. Derek’s screen test. Best thing I’ve ever seen. And neither he nor Julianne had a clue what was going to be shown.

Okay….The four in jeopardy are:

Michael and Emma

Betsey and Tony

Lea and Artem

Lolo and Keo

And tonight, leaving the ballroom is…..(This was a REAL BOTTOM TWO with Betsey being the other half)

LOLO AND KEO

Courtney’s Pick: Lolo and Keo

Heidi’s Pick: Lolo and Keo

Vogue’s Pick: Lolo and Keo

Executive Producer Rob Wade Interviewed On The New Cast Of Dancing With The Stars And More

Give it up to Dancing With The Stars Executive Producer Rob Wade! I can’t commend him enough for the cast he’s put together and all the changes and surprises we saw last night!!! It really feels as if he is listening to us (ie: choosing Allison Holker to dance, bringing Sharna Burgess and Gleb Savchenko back, and more). Below is a new interview with The Wrap for where he talks all about it. More at the link for why he chose Julianne Hough as a 4th judge, how there will be more guest judges, and more!

The Wrap: Have you met your expectations on the cast?
Rob Wade: What’s great is we have a real diverse cast. Nineteen seasons in, we’re still able to find people from different backgrounds and different types of celebrity. We have Bethany Mota, a YouTube star. We’ve never had that before. Also, NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip, we’ve never had that before and it really opens the show up to others. We have young. We have old. We have some really good dancers, as well. I’m excited by it.

How much does the craziness of the show’s casting rumors affect your decisions? Do you take a temperature on it?

I wouldn’t say we take a temperature on it, no. We definitely listen to people’s ideas and hear what people have to say. Casting the show goes beyond ‘Is that a good name?’ You have to think of the cast as a family and you need different aspects for the cast. It can’t be one note.

We’re the only show out there at the moment that’s genuinely a family show. You can watch this with your grandchildren, your aunt, your grandfather, your father. There’s something in this show for everyone. So, obviously, not everyone is going to please everyone. If they did, we did something wrong. Everybody in the family has to have someone to cheer on.

Fans seem to miss having a results show. How do you handle the loss of that?
No individual one thing is bigger than the show as a whole. It’s just a great format. It gives us great ability to do different things. We have got two results shows for the first two weeks this season, which is great. There’s a lot of entertaining and interesting stuff in there.

But then again when we do get to one day a week, the great thing about that is that you make it an event once a week. Both things are good. You have to adapt and use change for your advantage.

Dancing With The Stars Season 19 Week 1 Interviews After The Dance And More Goodies (Recap, Videos, Photos)

What a night…and hey, a “colorful” one at that!! Wasn’t the set and the costumes beautiful? I’m still having “awwwww” moments in more ways than one. Photo below courtesy of Adam Taylor from Getty. To view more photos of all the couples dancing, the judges, etc. go HERE. If you missed any of the dances, troupe bumbers, etc, see Ballroom Stars Your Tube.

So, let’s find out what some of the couples thought of their dances with Access Hollywood below. You can also view some new interviews at E Online (we would embed those, but, they always mess up the site). Also, you can read a fun recap and view a fun gallery of photos at ABC7. Also below is a new interview with Alfonso with ABC7 before the show last night. You can also watch Tom Bergeron on The Chew yesterday at this link. Jimmy Kimmel’s predictions are also included below (he’s picking Alfonso to win). Glamour has some backstage coverage and pictures of the cast. Lastly, Heidi was up late last night capping some of the “behind the scenes” action from the official site. You can view what she posted at Pure Derek Hough. More later. We’re just getting started!

DWTS Season 19 Week ONE!! Let’s discuss tonight’s show!

Hi kids!! Because there is a results show tomorrow night, this isn’t the usual spoiler post. But we thought you still might want someplace to discuss the show as it happens, etc. So here we are. As soon as Courtney gets her power rankings done, she will likely unstick this post from the top of the page and you can move over there to discuss if you like. Unless you’re off the topic of the couples….then you’ll probably want to stay here for a bit. :-) Either way, comment to your hearts contents, as long as you remember the show night rules.

That would be context. It is good. :-D  Remember, if you post five one liners in five minutes, you’ve broken rule number 1. ;-)

My first comment of the night is: dammit, four live streams and a digital interview show?? Are you producers trying to hurt my poor little brain that just wants to watch a pretty dance show with hot boys?? SIMPLIFY people. Simplify. I don’t want to watch all that crap, but since I blog for two sites I feel obligated.

Thoughts so far:

Antonio – wooden

Lea – fantastic

Janel – over rated. They spent how much time on Lea’s experience and none on hers?? Not enough content – mugging at the camera, though.

Of course, TPTB put shipper tweets up on the screen for Val and Janel. And Val has started alluding to it. :::rolls eyes:::

Oh god, lolo.  Screw up and then talk too much.  Thank god for Tom Bergeron. I’m sorry, but the 6’s were generous.

Tony….PROPS ARE BAD. You and Betsey were doing so well up to then!!

Tavis did okay but I think Jules might have gotten into CAI’s crack. :-D

Sadie is soooo cute.

Rick Schroder in the audience…

Michael, I love you. “My onesie gave me a wedgie!”

OMG – I love Tommy Chong. That was amazing. Nice guest appearance by Cheech!!

Holy crap – Randy and Karina!! We got a competition, folks. Between the good dancers and the fun characters? Wow. Tough season.

Great job by Bethany!! And we had that freakin’ song right the first time!!!  Courtney texted me a “DAMMIT”. :-)  Very cute dance….I think she will be a contender if she can loosen up a bit.

Well, this could be a six way race to the trophy with Alfonso leading the way, followed by Randy, Lea, Sadie and Bethany.

Great first show everyone!! Courtney is coming up before too long with the Power Rankings!!
