Kansas.com reviewed the Dancing With The Stars Live Tour. They said the show had a lot of “fance footwork”. Here is more….
The athletic dances done on a spare stage of two sets of stairs and a catwalk ranged from an opening “Land of a Thousand Dances” – including the watusi – by Peta Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy to a hip-hop number by Chmerkovskiy and Witney Carson that probably got the biggest ovation and showed that Rycroft was right in giving credit to beyond-ballroom dancing.
Park City/Wichita country music fans even got to yell their approval before the company strutted to “Somethin’ Bad.” A Wichita woman in a long dress and platform shoes was the audience member chosen to fall into the arms of Keo Motsepe and Artem Chigvintsev – and to get very close and personal.
Not all the dancing was modern. Chigvintsev was back on stage for the first time after being injured, and he and Carson – she wearing a flowing gown – floated across the stage to the season-appropriate “Summer Wind.”
Being in Kansas enchanted Brit Emma Slater, who said she knew the state from “The Wizard of Oz.”
“My mom’s really jealous” of her daughter being in Kansas, Slater said, and then turned her back to the crowd and took a selfie with the audience for Mom.

Well, I guess the reviewer of Bakersfield.com wasn’t too impressed with Val’s lines in one performance. Other than that, he gave the Dancing With The Stars Live Tour a thumbs up.
The show opened with Chmerkovskiy in a black robe with “Champ” on the back. Underneath, Chmerkovskiy’s body appeared to be a bit rounder, and he admitted to Rycroft that he’d let himself go since finally winning the mirror ball trophy. But don’t worry, he told her, he’s still got it. Stripping off the robe, he danced a number in a long-sleeved white shirt, black dress pants and suspenders, and a fat suit. Maybe I’m a humorless feminist, but the bit didn’t land for me. Not only do fat jokes from people who have been in shape most of their lives seem a little mean-spirited, it’s just lazy. Which is kind of ironic: it wasn’t Chmerkovskiy that was slacking off; it was the writers.
But you can’t stay irritated once the dancing starts, first with a group number to “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon and later with a decades-themed medley that started with a beleathered “You’re The One That I Want” from “Grease” and went through “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from “Hairspray,” “Aquarius” from “Hair” and “She’s a Maniac” from “Flashdance,” complete with unitards and leg warmers. The quick wardrobe changes for each era must have been frantic backstage, but you’d never guess it as each dancer calmly took the stage.
Several times throughout the show, Rycroft and the dancers mentioned how the tour was for the fans, for the people at home who watch and vote but can’t be in the studio audience. They did a great job getting the audience involved, from a question-and-answer session early in the show to dancers running into the crowd and, for one lucky lady, a one-on-one dance and kiss on the cheek from Chmerkovskiy, who gracefully avoided answering her marriage proposal.
Between dance numbers, which ranged from the paso doble to samba to hip hop, Rycroft introduced the dancers, starting with the men — romantic Keo Motsepe, baby of the group Alan Bersten, prankster Sasha Farber and Chmerkovskiy, who needed no introduction for anyone other than me — and gave them a rose. When the women did a dance on their own, the crowd respectfully cheered, but when it was the men’s turn, hoots and hollers could be heard from all over the venue, including from some very polite-looking senior ladies.

If you head to the Las Vegas Sun, you can read a review of the new Dancing With The Stars Live Tour. You can also view a new gallery of photos. Below is a take from the link…
In the touring show, there was a routine to hip-hop music and one to country, where the outfits were eye-catching: jeans and cowboys hats for the shirtless men; Daisy Duke shorts and bikini tops for the ladies.
The precision of the dance movement was most impressive. When watching at home Monday nights, you don’t see the step-by-step movement of the dancers, nor do you truly appreciate their greatness and the amount of physical and mental preparation.
That dancing savvy is noticeable with each routine during the touring show, with performers such as Witney Carson and Murgatroyd so elegant with each step and sincere in giving fans a great evening of entertainment.
The show is more than dancing. Rycroft, the Dallas native and Season 15 champion, is witty and personable as the host. The dancers also interact with the fans — everything from Emma Slater taking a photo with the crowd and posting on her Twitter (@EmmaSlaterDance) to the men of the show walking down into the audience to distribute roses.
“We’ve been more excited about this stop than any other,” Rycroft said.
