PureDWTS Gossip Talk: Maria Menounos To Replace Erin Andrews?

Update: GossipCop is reporting that it is just a rumor. Doesn’t make it any less fun to consider Maria as host.

I imagine this is total gossip from Showbiz Spy, but, it made me think of Maria Menounos and what a great host of Dancing With The Stars she could be. Would you be up for it next season if she were to replace Erin?

Insiders claim that the 35-year-old earned enemies due to her diva behavior, including arriving late and complaining about things like her wardrobe and parking spot.

“Her cold, masculine commentary might work well on the football field, but it just comes across as harsh on Dancing With the Stars.

“Producers love Maria’s charm and easygoing way with celebrities. Plus, her experience talking to celebs during difficult moments is second to none. That’s what this show needs.”

DWTS Executive Producer Conrad Green Comments On Rumor Cast And Producers Aren’t Happy With Erin Andrews

Have some of you seen the “Life & Style” article where they reported the cast and producers of Dancing With The Stars aren’t happy with Erin Andrews?

Insiders reveal to Life & Style DWTS producers aren’t too happy with their brand-new hire, Erin Andrews.

“She’s arrogant, obnoxious and difficult to deal with,” an insider explains to Life & Style, on newsstands now.

“She was always complaining about her costumes, bossing people around, late for rehearsals, late for makeup. Everything.”

“So far, Erin hasn’t made any friends,” another DWTS *insider reveals to the mag of their new co-host, who replaced longtime co-host *Brooke Burke-Charvet**.

“The cast and crew can’t wait for her to leave after each show.”

Well, Rumor Fix asked Executive Producer Conrad Green about it. Below is a quote with his reply back. Be sure to see Rumor Fix for more as Erin’s rep commented as well. E Online also has an article posted about it.

…but DWTS executive producer, Conrad Green, also tells RumorFix, “This report couldn’t be further from the truth. Erin and our entire cast have been getting on brilliantly.”

My thougths: Hmmm, I have to wonder if there isn’t some truth in it being many of us aren’t happy with Erin either and want Brooke BACK!!

PureDWTS Season 18, Week 2 – Power Rankings

Hopefully everyone has had enough time to sleep off the whiplash you likely got from watching last night’s show – because seriously, kids, I don’t think I could have choreographed a sh*tshow that was sh*ttier than this show 8-O I felt sorry not only for the couples for a) not knowing when they were going to be dancing, and having to be prepared at a moment’s notice; but b) having the double elimination hanging over their heads all night.  Oh, and then there was the partner switch-up tweeting, too, which was haphazardly thrown in without a whole lot of explanation or clarification.  If the producers set out to turn last night’s show into the television equivalent of K-Mart on Black Friday, they succeeded – it seemed like total bedlam on the set last night.

I guess Erin improved only slightly this week – although I don’t really know if it was that she improved or that I was just waiting to get blindsided by more twists and turns and wasn’t really paying attention to her to begin with.  I do agree with the fans on one thing: she will NEVER look as good in those dresses as Brooke did.  WTF was she wearing last night? A discarded leotard from Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video? And my god, Erin (or whomever is pushing this stupid Jeremy Miller nonsense), just STAAAAHHHHP.  Both Cameron & Danica have clearly moved on, and let’s just say Ben Seaver hasn’t exactly aged gracefully…if you’re expecting a catfight over that doughy, average-looking washed-up actor, you’re going to be waiting for a very, very long time.

As for the eliminations – can’t say I’m too surprised about Diana & Henry.  I would have liked her to stay a bit longer, but I kind of wondered about both she & Henry’s respective fanbases – I doubt they would have been able to stick around for more than a week or two.  As for Sean & Karina – I’m honestly a bit shocked about that one, because I seriously thought Karina had the fanbase to at least pull her through the first few weeks, and I thought Sean was starting to finally open up.  Apparently he mentioned something about getting into an argument with Conrad & Co. over his rehearsal package last week during his elimination interview on GMA this morning (with the implication being “If you fight with the producers, you get sent home!”), but we’ll probably never know for sure if it was the votes that sent him home or Lord Conrad’s delicate ego.  I’d be lying, though, if I said I wasn’t THRILLED that Billy Dee & Emma get to stick around for another week ;-) Read more..

New Las Vegas Odds For DWTS Season 18 Week 2: Speaking of Switches

Sports Bovada has posted their new odds for Dancing With The Stars Week 2. As always, there is a shake up after we see them dance the first time. This week they have Meryl and Charlie tied for first and note how Amy has moved up the ladder to 3rd! Danica and Candace has also moved up knocking Cody and James down. I love how Drew Carey made a move as well. I think Sean should be higher, but, I would say the tie at the bottom for last is about right, would you?

Charlie White 5/2
Meryl Davis 5/2
Amy Purdy 4/1
Candace Cameron Bure 11/2
Danica McKellar 15/2
James Maslow 10/1
Cody Simpson 20/1
Drew Carey 25/1
NeNe Leakes 25/1
Sean Avery 33/1
Billy Dee Williams 100/1
Diana Nyad 100/1

Last weeks odds:

Meryl Davis 3/2
Charlie White 3/1
Cody Simpson 6/1
James Maslow 6/1
Amy Purdy 10/1
Candace Cameron Bure 15/1
Danica McKellar 15/1
NeNe Leakes 15/1
Sean Avery 20/1
Billy Dee Williams 25/1
Diana Nyad 33/1
Drew Carey 33/1

Let’s get Miss Heidi and Court’s thoughts and be sure to let us know your thoughts as well in comments.

Courtney: I actually agree with this week’s odds, for the most part – the fact that James’ odds are twice as good as Cody’s has me really puzzled, though.  Were we watching the same show, oddsmakers? Because Cody made a pretty big splash on Monday, while James was just treading water…and I don’t expect that to change a whole lot throughout the course of the season.  I think we might begin to see more of a gap between Meryl & Charlie as the weeks wear on, as well – I’m guessing he’s going to continue to thrill each week, while she might have some off-weeks (which I’m thinking may have to do more with Maks’ choreography than anything else).  And if my gut feeling is right,  I think Candace & Danica may flip-flip back and forth in the odds each week – I get the feeling they’re setting that one up to be a neck-and-neck race, with the girls alternating who does better each week.  Other than that, I think the odds are pretty spot-on…I might have given Billy Dee a slight edge over Diana, just in terms of fanbase, but that’s kind of a moot point…

Heidi: Yeah, I’m not finding anything to argue with on this one. Shocker. :-)  I think Meryl and Charlie will remain at the top and Amy, Danica and Candace will flip flop around with each other depending on how they do in a given week. Aaaannnndddd…..I got nuthin’ else. :-D

PureDWTS Season 18, Week 1 – Power Rankings

So season 18 – the season of “lots of big changes”, and I’m not so sure I’m liking them.  Right off the bat – skeptical about Erin as a cohost.  Seems like she isn’t about playing 2nd banana to Tom – felt like she was just waiting for her turn to talk, and was trying too hard to be clever and funny when asking her questions…which, by the way, were exactly what I worried they would be: pointed, uncomfortable, and at times, salacious.  Not sure if it’s her asking those questions (or somebody up in the booth feeding them to her), but I’m not liking the gossipy, almost tabloid-y direction the show is taking – suddenly, we have to know who’s dating who, and what their significant others think about their partners, and who stole who’s boyfriend in the past, etc.  Seemed especially evident when Erin was needling-er, interviewing Cody & Witney – didn’t really enjoy the tone of that one in particular, as it sounded to me like Erin was throwing some serious shade in Witney’s direction (“Well, I think you’re a distraction!”).  Just SHUT UP, Erin – I had my fill of you channeling Regina George back in season 10.  Remember: those who stir the sh*t pot should have to lick the spoon. ;-)

And then there’s the “rivalries” – ugh.  The three major ones that they seem to be pushing are Meryl vs. Charlie, Cody vs. James, and Candace vs. Danica.  And while Conrad may have referred to them as “healthy rivalries” in his press release – I would hardly call dredging up 20-year-old drama about stolen boyfriends to be “healthy”.  Are we sure the Muppets in the production office haven’t been replaced by high school girls? Because some of this stuff is seriously immature.  But hey, if they’re gonna continue pushing the rivalries – guess I’ll do a weekly scorecard of them, too, since these things seem to be UBER-IMPORTANT on DWTS these days.  But anyhow…shall I get on with the rankings? :-)

1.) Charlie & Sharna – Can’t say I’m too surprised here, as we had heard that Charlie’s routine was “REALLY good!” and we all kind of expected both he & Meryl to easily handle their routines.  Was pleasantly surprised at how well he handled the (pretty short) section of side-by-side contemporary choreography – he seems to really get the “pulse” of contemporary, and knows how to use his limbs properly.  He’s obviously SPECTACULAR doing lifts, and he handled the many ones Sharna threw at him without so much as a bobble…but that’s probably my one big critique of this routine: it was very, VERY lift-heavy.  Seemed like most of the routine was either prepping for a lift or doing the lift, as opposed to doing any separate steps.  Contemporary does NOT mean “do all sorts of lifts!” I would caution Sharna not to get tempted to throw every lift she knows into any routine in which it’s allowed, simply because her partner is quite possibly even a better lifter than Tony.  Beyond that, I really enjoyed it, and I’m excited to see what else this partnership can do. First Couple Of Weeks Of DWTS Will Be “One Packed, Spray-Tanned Sausage”, More Rehearsal Arrival Photos

Dancing With The Stars Tom Bergeron talked to Yahoo TV about the new season and all of the new changes coming. He comments that his new cohost, Erin Andrews, will be “great at both sideline and quick interviews and such.” Tom also commented that the first couple of weeks of the show will be “one packed, spray-tanned sausage” (LOL!). Monday promises to be “quite the adventure” when the show goes LIVE! Below is more….

After revealing that last season’s crowded celebrity holding area, the Glitter Pit, would be no more (“Hallelujah!” he said of the pit’s demise), Bergeron hinted at what the celeb hangout will look like in the new season: “A version of the skybox will be there. I don’t know if it will be the old celeb-aquarium, but it’ll certainly be more like the celeb-aquarium than the Glitter Pit,” he said. “These are all words I never thought I’d use in a sentence.”

The popular TV host seemed particularly excited about the star-studded cast for the upcoming season, which includes “Wonder Years” sweetheart Danica McKellar, “Star Wars” icon Billy Dee Williams, and five athletes.

“Particularly to have [Olympic gold medalists] Meryl Davis and Charlie White, they’ve been together 17 years as partners, and this is the first time they’ve split up and they’ll be competing against each other,” Bergeron said. “A lot of interesting possibilities with this cast.”

But when it comes to another big change this season — the midseason partner switch — even the show’s longtime host is in the dark.

“I went into the office last week, and they were being very secretive about it, and I don’t know if it’s going to be for a week or two or the balance of the season,” Bergeron said. “It’s something we’ve never done before, so it’ either [going to] be amazing or a train wreck. In both cases you got good TV.”

Reading his words gets me even more excited for the new season. Be sure to read the full article at Yahoo TV. Also, if you’d like to see more pics of the cast arriving to rehearsals this weekend, see the Daily Mail here and here.

Host Tom Bergeron Talks On The New Season Of Dancing With The Stars

E Online interviewed Tom Bergeron about Dancing With The Stars Season 18. In the interview, they ask him about Erin Andrews and the new Switch Up dance (sounds like he’s much like us about it?) which you can read about below. Lots more at the link including his thoughts about Brooke Burke Charvet and who he’s excited to see dance.

“Erin and I first worked together when we did the Scripps Spelling Bee for ABC back a few years ago,” Bergeron said. “She’s very energetic and smart and funny, and I think she’s going to bring all of that to the show.”

But he did have some advice for Andrews, which he shared with her over dinner.

“I just basically said to her, ‘Trust your gut, and if you want to—because we’re friends—take a shot at me.’ I was telling her about when Drew Lachey filled in some seasons ago for a few weeks, he would take these shots at me, and I love that, so I told her not to hold back.”

The other major change in store for fans is the new “Switch Up” twist, which will give America the chance to change up the dance partners. And some of the contestants have already expressed their dislike of the new twist, which pro Val Chmerkovskiy called “horrible.”

“I’m not sure yet how it’s going to play out. I don’t know if it’s just for a week or whatever they do it they’re going to do it for the balance of the season, so I’m kind of as curious as you and the dancers are, as to how this is going to play,” Bergeron said. “It’s either going to be very intriguing and exciting or a trainwreck.”
