PureDWTS Season 23 Fashion: How great did Erin Andrews, Julianne Hough and Carrie Ann Inaba look on Week 1?

WOW! What a week! Definitely eventful. Memorable. And very scary! Miss Vogue has written about what Carrie Ann says about it here on our site, and a great follow up, where ABC talks to the protesters when they were released from jail here on our site. We’ll focus on the fashions here today.

Carrie Ann’s blog is no longer at Parade magazine, she’s moved to SheKnows. Besides the protest incident, she talks about her dress on Monday, as well as her Creative Arts Emmy dress, and gives us a preview of the dress she’ll wear to the Emmy’s on Sunday. Her stylist is Jen Rade, and I think she did a great job in finding these dresses! I loved the pink in her dress on the show, the cut of the dress suited her, and the dress made the turquois in the jewelry pop!

Erin’s got her blog still on People, and I’ve not been able to find something from Julianne this season. If she’s got one and I missed, please mention where in comments, so we can add it in here. Erin’s changed stylists this season, she and Julianne both haveĀ Anita Patrickson’s team styling them, so she’s pretty busy on Show days! I loved Erin’s sparkle, and the dress! Wow! and how about Julianne’s hair with the laurel crown and roses in her hair? And that dress!

I wish we at home could see the judges as they’re coming in, because both Julianne and Carrie Ann had gorgeous dresses, but we can only see the top, since they’re sitting down behind a desk!

I can’t pick a favorite this week, all three of these women I think started the season with a BANG!

Let’s hear your thoughts about this week’s fashion. Which was your favorite?

Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Erin Andrews Fashion post for DWTS 21 Week 8

I’m tired of themes. When can we have a week of no themes? And we’re having 11 weeks this season, am I correct? So we’re back to a 4 person finale? Still hoping for a #RetroDWTS season. Or maybe not, they’ll figure out a way to mess with it and ruin it.

Moving on….

I liked Erin’s look this week, it was a little different for her, and she looked great in it. With her schedule over the weekend up to showtime, I can understand why her style team went the way they did. Her dress reminded me of that dress that was all over the internet a while ago, when some people saw it as white and gold, and others saw it as blue and black. Erin’s dress was definitely blue and black, but at times, it seemed to look completely black, and once I asked myself when she changed, before realizing that it was the lighting! Her fashion blog can be found over on People.

I also really liked Julianne’s look this week! They’ve been picking such great colors for her, I wish it would be something that she would take away from the ballroom. I’d LOVE to see Julianne in these vivid colors on red carpets or events outside of DWTS. Instead, it seems she has such great styles and colors on the show, but chooses blacks, whites and other neutrals and more daring styles… with an occasional color snuck in by her stylist. But THIS color was perfect! I’m just not sure about the shoes, but they did look comfortable! I’ll ask Vogue, would Erins’s shoes, in silver, have been a better match with Julianne’s dress? Julianne’s blog can be found over on InStyle.

And Carrie Ann’s blog is over at Parade, and she seems to have LIKED the Dance Off, and thought it successful and exciting. My thoughts on the Dance Off can be summed up as, “WHAAAAAAAA???????????” You will need to go the link and read the whole thing, I thought it was a good one. Now that we’re down to 6 couples, she spends time talking about each of them. And she says this, which I LOVED: Read more..

Our Weekly DWTS 21 Week 5 Fashion Round Up For Erin Andrews, Julianne Hough, And Carrie Ann Inaba

Sometimes I need to sit down and think hard to figure out which week we’re in for the season. This is one of those weeks. It’s also been “one of those weeks” for me.Ā  It also felt like the whole week was off, on the show. Tom’s dad passed away, no one was with their regular partners, and things just didn’t completely feel like things were completely “jelled.” There were a few dances that I LOVED! But the whole atmosphere seemed just “off” to me. And like others mentioned in other posts and in the comments, I’m more than done with the whole “married couple competing” schtick. I do think it is an interesting concept, but I don’t think Alexa and Carlos were the correct couple. Even IF the show didn’t beat us over the head with the schtick 10,000 times each episode, I think they should have found a couple that were a bit older, longer married, more secure and a lot more mature.

Erin’s weekly style blog is over on People. I LOVED the color of her dress, and I don’t mind that it was shorter. She’s going back and forth from the Red Room to the other end of the ballroom and back. I don’t think the shoes were the best match, what would you say, Miss Vogue?

Julianne’s weekly style blog is over on Instyle. I’m a bit torn about how I feel about her dress. I like it, and she looks really good in it, but not so sure about the cut outs, and wish she had found something with more color. How about the color that Erin wore?

And Carrie Ann! I’m starting to think she needs to change up some of her styling, Erin and Julianne both continually change it up and take risks, while Carrie Ann definitely is a bit more conservative in her styling choices. Yes, she’s older than both of the other two women, but I think it’s possible to change it up. Her blog is up on Parade, and she gives her thoughts on all of the couples. You should go and read on your own, but I’m not going to talk much about it here, I prefer Courtney’s two recap posts here and here.

So! Which is your Best Dressed this week? I think I’m going to give Erin the edge this week, with Julianne a second.

Our Weekly Fashion Blog With Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Erin Andrews For DWTS21 Week 4

I didn’t mean to leave Erin out of these posts, but she’s blogging over on People this season. So, when possible, we’ll have one fashion post for all three of them.

So, what did you think of the show this week? I definitely missed Tom this week, but glad that he’s able to be there with his dad, it’s not an easy time. Alfonso didn’t do badly, but he definitely showed just HOW GOOD Tom is at his job! This is one week where I really enjoy the addition of contemporary and jazz, because most celebrities pick something sad for their most memorable year, and without these two styles, we get a whole lot of badly danced rumba.Ā  Each and every one of them seemed to be trying their hardest to show their story through dance– Some were just more successful than others. I think that Paula definitely should be the next one off, she’s the weakest link left. In most seasons, by the time the lowest tier dancers have left, it’s pretty clear who remaining are in that next tier, and who are in the top tier. I’m not seeing as big a division this season, it may be there, but I’m just not seeing it. Keep watching Heidi’s Number posts, because we could start hearing about “shocking exits” once Paula leaves. We know that none of those “shocking exits” are ever truly shocking, because we’ve seen the numbers, and Heidi’s explained who is most in danger of leaving, and why. And in case I’ve not said it before, Thank you, Heidi, for the hard work to put together the numbers posts each season.

Derek Hough’s DWTS 19, Week 3 Blog – On Patricia Kelly and Bethany’s Ankle

Great news…and not so great news in Derek’s blog this week. Since we had a bunch of discussion on “why does Derek get to use ‘Singing in the Rain'” and Courtney and I had posited that since he knows Patricia Kelly, that he perhaps has a leg up on the others. One of the benefits of fostering lots of relationships in the dance community, beyond the ballroom. Ā Here’s an excerpt from TV Guide:

This week, we’re doing the jazz to “Singin’ in the Rain.” My very first dance performance ever was to “Singing in the Rain” and I was about 3 or 4 years old. I don’t remember it at all. It’s on video somewhere. It’s me running around the stage with an umbrella. I was the only boy with a bunch of girls. I need to find that. It’d actually be really funny if we can include it in the package. I’ve always wanted to dance to this song, but I never envisioned doing it with a celebrity as s competition piece. I always thought I would do it as a Macy’s Stars of Dance piece. So I had to approach this differently. It’s not about what my body wants to do; it’s about what her body wants to do. We’re using an umbrella for it. Shocking, right? I just gotta make sure we don’t use the one Charlie used last season. I’m excited about it. It’s going to look beautiful. We’ve got little things in there that will be fun. We’re keeping it classic, but adding things in a little modern twist and musicality in there.

The cool thing is Patricia Kelly, Gene Kelly’s widow, wrote a beautiful email to me, allowing us to use the song and saying, “I’d be happy for you to use the song and to do the dance.” It was really lovely. Normally, it’s hard to get clearance for music in general, so it was really wonderful and humbling to get that from her. It’s kind of funny: We got a tweet from Taylor Swift the first week, a tweet from Meghan Trainor the second week and an email from Patricia Kelly the third week. It’s great and a little surreal to hear from the artists and to know that they’ve seen our dance. What will happen in Week 4? (Knock on wood!)

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Tony Dovolani And Betsy Johnson Interviewed By People, What To Expect On DWTS

People interviewed Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani. Tony tells them that Betsey is going to be “inspiring” on Dancing With The Stars. For one thing, Betsey doesn’t plan to let her age stop her from doing cartwheels pn the dance floor. Below is more. Be sure to see the link for a fun picture and video.

“What’s great about Betsey is she’s so inspiring in every way,” Dovolani tells PEOPLE. “To be 72, and to do what she does, is so inspiring.”

“Seventy-three, get it right!” Johnson corrects him jokingly.

“Somebody said she was 73 and she was very hurt by that,” Dovolani explains.

So, will the whimsical designer be getting any input regarding her wardrobe on the show?

“We want Betsey to come out as Betsey,” Dovolani says. “Who’s going to tell her how to dress?

“Think I’m going to wear one of the those backless diamond fringe outfits?” she says. “No, I’m going to keep it very real.”

One thing that will be making an appearance on the dance floor? Johnson’s signature cartwheels, which close out each of the designer’s fashion shows.

“We’re going to put one in,” Dovolani confirms. Adds Johnson: “I know I won’t screw that up.”
