DWTS Pros Karina Smirnoff And Maksim Chmerkovskiy To Dance In Forever Tango

Would you like to see Dancing With The Stars pros Karina Smirnoff And Maks Chmerkovskiy dance together again? If so, you’ll be able to do just that as the two have agreed to dance in the hit Broadway show “Forever Tango” from July 9th through the 28th. Below is more from People.com. For ticket information, visit this link.

“It is such an honor to have been given this opportunity to star on Broadway again,” Smirnoff said in a statement. “Forever Tango is an incredible production and the Tango is an intense, sensuous dance of passion. Asking Maks to join me was in and of itself intense, so I figured by opening night, it would be explosive!”

The pair, who originally met in a Broadway production of Burn the Floor, became engaged New Year’s Day 2009 in Las Vegas and then endured a very public and bitter breakup in October of the same year.

In Forever Tango, they’ll join guest vocalist Gilberto Santa Rosa, a five-time Grammy winner, and be done in plenty of time for the fall season of Dancing.

Pretty Cool! I’d love to see them dance in this show!! And stay tuned! Something might be up on GMA today with this news.

I'm a fashion and music nut....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. Derek Hough (one of my favorite dancers) said at a recent Get Healthy event that ‘dancing’ is an outward expression of what is going on inside you. He says that in some ways, everyone dances and it's so true. To TPTB, how about Sam Palladio's "Fade Into You" (this version sung by WilUnleashed) for a V. Waltz?

Anna Trebunskaya Dishes On Forever Tango And Dancing With The Stars (Dances too!)

Our beautiful and sweet pro, Anna Trebunskaya, was a guest on San Francisco’s 7Live yesterday to promote her dancing role in “Forever Tango”. It’s fascinating as she talked of how much she’s learning from the other dancers and the powerful energy of the show. She also talks of the differences in performing with professionals versus celebrities on Dancing With The Stars. Did you know her parents were dancers too? She mentions them as well. As for Dancing With The Stars, Anna says she doesn’t know if she will be returning yet and won’t know until the cast reveal on Feb. 28th (hmmm…that is so hard to believe?). She dishes about her partners and showcasing them. She wraps up with a Forever Tango performance. Too fun! For ticket information how you can see Anna dance in Forever Tango, see the link. (If the video below doesn’t come up for you, you can view at the link as well)

One Leg Up For DWTS Pro Anna Trebunskaya In Forever Tango (Photo)

LOL! Don’t you just love Anna? She is beautiful as well as being a “ham”. The picture above is one she posted at her facebook while doing her make-up for her performance in Forever Tango. Currently, the show is in Miami, Florida. You can see more pics of her in her Forever Tango album here. Anna will be travelling back to California with the Forever Tango crew this week to do a three day show in San Francisco. For ticket information, visit Vertical Response.

Anna Trebunskaya Talks Forever Tango and Dancing With The Stars 14 Cast Reveal

As you might have read earlier, Dancing With The Stars’ Anna Trebunskaya is currently on tour with the cast of “Forever Tango”. This week, she traveled to Richmond, VA. WRIC News was able to catch up with her to ask her on the show. They also ask her about Dancing With The Stars and if she knows who her partner is yet. Anna starts out by saying that everything you hear is probably 99% not true and it will be the biggest kept secret until the reveal on Feb. 28th. The dancers don’t know anything and even whether they will be on the show or not. After that, they talk of “Forever Tango”. Anna even gives a Tango demonstration. She’s so cute as always.

DWTS Odds & Ends: Lacey Schwimmer, Tristan MacManus, Maks’ Birthday Bash, Anna Trebunskaya, Derek Hough

Happy TGIF Dancettes! There are some fun pics floating around out there of some our Dancing With The Stars pros and current fun projects!! Wanna See??

First up, check out this sweet picture of Lacey Schwimmer and Tristan MacManus. As you know from a previous report, the two are in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida currently teaching dance classes at the Fred Astaire Studios. Tristan was so polite as always as he even gave the photographer and big fan a kiss on the cheek before she left class. You can view more pics like this HERE and be sure to “like” Shannon Quinlan Photography at facebook and thank her for the great pics.

As you know, tonight is Maks Big Birthday Bash at Dance With Me Studio’s in New York City. Last night at twitter, Court noticed singer and TV Personality from RHONJ, @MelissaGorga, tweeting a picture of herself, 2 other girls …oops, make that three (Help? I’m not sure who they are?), Maks, and Tony. I think the pic below must have been for a preliminary event at Neiman Marcus because @YaninaEE at twitter also posted this picture with them giving Maks a birthday cake. If someone knows more, please let us know.

Speaking of Mak’s Birthday Bash, I hope Maks is ready for a good roasting tonight. Check out what Tony told Life & Style Magazine this week….

“We constantly get requests from people who want to meet us or watch us dance live,” Tony, who is co-hosting the event along with Maks’ brother Val, tells Life & Style. “So we decided to throw this bash honoring Maks’ birthday and also give fans a little taste of what we all experience on DWTS. It’s going to be very entertaining, with singers, dancing and a lot of fun.”

The highlight of the night, says Tony? A roast of the tempestuous birthday boy.

“All of us are actually going for it a little bit,” laughs Tony. “But Maks is a good sport when it comes to the roast — he may not show it then, but he could be a little upset later!”

I like that word “tempestuous”. It describes Maks well sometimes …uhhh, among other descriptions. Stay tuned. We hope to have more coverage on this event in the coming days.

Next up, we have our sweet, fiery, red headed Russian, Anna Trebunskaya! Currently, Anna is on tour with the “Forever Tango” cast until February. I thought this was a cool promo shot. For more pics, scheduling, and ticket information, be sure to visit Forever Tango. This would be one fun show to take in!!

Lastly, be sure to make your calendars. If you haven’t heard yet, Derek Hough will be helping to co-host “Live! With Kelly” again on February 6th. He will help to interview Debra Messing and Atticus Shaffer. No doubt some fun times are ahead for this show again with Derek’s involvement and he and Kelly work and play well together. Now if only we could get her to dance on Dancing With The Stars? :)

DWTS Anna Trebunskaya To Dance In “Forever Tango” And Working On New Work Out DVD

Heads up for those who love to work out! Anna is currently working on a new workout DVD which is based on a series of exercises she developed with her trainer who is trained in ballet and physical therapy. In light of the new DVD, Anna was photographed at the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia demonstrating how she warms up to prevent injury. You can view 28 photos of Anna at Philly.com. Each photo is captioned with something about Anna and her new venture. When we hear more on the DVD and when it will be released, we’ll be sure to let you know.

In other news on Anna, she is to replace Cheryl Burke in “Forever Tango” on Feb. 9th. Due to an illness in the family, Cheryl Burke could not perform on that date. For ticket information and to read more, see Broadway World.

Dancing With The Stars Cheryl Burke To Star In ‘Forever Tango’ In January

Heads up! Cheryl Burke, one of the best “Tangoers” in the world (if not “the” best!) is about to grace the stage again in Luis Bravo’s “Forever Tango”. “Forever Tango” will be presented Jan. 19, 2012 at 8:00pm at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in San Bernardino, CA. Here is more from Inland Social. To read more on the show and for ticket information, be sure to see the link.

Created by Luis Bravo, the show’s focus isn’t just on any tango, but on the imaginative, creative and sensual Argentine tango, and creates a showcase for the worldwide dance phenomenon.

The show’s professional dancers create the world famous dance in every imaginable way, while musicians paint a musical picture that “inspires and teases.”

Below is a little movie Cheryl did for Forever Tango last year. You can see her dancing in the show as well.

If only my Dad could travel, I know what I’d get him for Christmas!

Cheryl Burke Out In L.A., Tweets On New Dancing With The Stars Segment, and More

Cheryl has been so busy this summer. Not only has she just released her new shoe line as well as an upcoming clothing line, she is now off with Apolo Ohno to Spain and Asia for a couple of weeks (business and pleasure according to Apolo). However, before she left, Cheryl had some time to dine at the Beacher’s Madhouse in Hollywood (pictured above). She and her dance studio also put on a dance event at the Kalidascope Mall which you can watch coverage of here. Before she left, Cheryl posted another tweet on the new segment she’s working on for Dancing With The Stars as well. I can’t wait to see what this is all about. Season 13 is sounding exciting so far.

Shooting a new segment for DWTS at my dance studio in Laguna Niguel! Can’t wait for u guys to see this.

Lastly, for those interested in seeing Cheryl dance, August 13th, she is going to dance in “Forever Tango” at the California Theatre of Arts. For ticket information, be sure to check out the link. Go Cheryl!!

Pure DWTS – “Calm Before The Storm” Weekend Media In The News

“You come out and show me a proper dance. I’m fed up, Maks, with shirts coming off.” – Dancing with the Stars judge Len Goodman

Remember that one? LOL I am so missing this show, are you? It’s the “calm before the storm” though. I can feel it.

So, first up in some weekend updates, a reminder to watch “Miss America” Saturday night on ABC. Brooke Burke will be helping to host. Tony Dovolani will be one the judges. He’s going to have his work cut out for him. You can see some of the contestants below presenting themselves on the Las Vegas Strip outside of the Planet Hollywood with Boys To Men as the Master of Ceremony.

Cheryl has been so busy. Along with her “Forever Tango” tour, she’s also offering free dance lessons for local teens at Burke’s Mountain View, California ballroom on Jan. 12th. More details below and a promotional picture of her from Mountainview.patch.com. (are her shoes not cute, or what? :) )

Keep your dance card open for Monday, when “Dancing with the Stars” two-time champion Cheryl Burke and fellow dancers from the hit musical Forever Tango will appear at her Mountain View ballroom. From 6-11:30 p.m. Burke and her troupe will host free dance classes for teenagers from local schools. This fundraiser will benefit “The Dance Club Mountain View,” a program developed by the nonprofit Mountain View Police Activities League and Cheryl Burke Dance Mountain View.

For those of you missing Alec and Edyta like myself (cries, please bring these two back!!), here they are opening the show for the Everett Dance Competition in California last month.

Mark was interviewed by The News Herald this week in promotion for his new album “HurtLoveBox”. He also mentions dancing which you can read on below. Be sure to read the link for the full story and interview.

When asked what dance he would perform to each of his solo songs, Ballas graciously said “Faith” would be a rumba, while “The Way You Work” would be a tango. Welcome to Ballas’s world, where despite his best efforts to get his music career off the ground the reality is his popularity orbit remains steadfastly “Dancing With the Stars”-based.

There’s something about Ballas’ personality that has allowed him to become the go-to professional dancer for contestants with, if not baggage then, interesting pop culture history.

“I try to not pay attention to the media,” Ballas said. “When I meet the person I go in with a clean slate and just meet them and take them for what they really are and who they really are rather than what people perceive and write about them. So I had great partners. I’ve never had one rude or obnoxious.”

Mark also taught a “Master Class” for “Dare to Dance” in Cincinnati, Ohio while he was there this past week. The donations went to help his foundation which helps suicide preventation and mental health awareness.

And just a mention on Paula Abdul’s new show “Live To Dance” for those of you who watched the show this past week and were discussing it in other posts. Apparently the ratings weren’t very good on the second night. This source is calling it a “flop”. :( From Robot Celeb.

On Tuesday night the show debuted to 10.3 million viewers. That is about half the size of the audience that American Idol gets, but still it was a decent number and not a terrible starting place. On Wednesday the show aired the second half of the premiere and finished off the first round of auditions. It also lost about 23% of its audience. Viewership plummeted to around 8 million viewers. It finished fourth in its timeslot behind The People’s Choice Awards, Modern Family and Law & Order: SVU. Worse yet was its collapse in ratings among the much coveted 18-49 year old demographic. Here it dropped about 25% from a 2.4 rating on Tuesday to a 1.8 on Wednesday. Essentially, that means that almost all of their loss in viewers was in the 18-49 age range. Not a good sign.

I would expect it to get worse in coming weeks. In two weeks the show will play head to head with the much anticipated debut of American Idol. That will most likely draw more of her viewers away.

If there is a silver lining to the clouds it is that that Live to Dance is just a short run show scheduled to end in mid-February so the odds are that they won’t cancel her mid-season. No matter how badly things could get they will probably let her finish out the full season. They have already committed much of the money by building her the dome building and finding the contestants. What is left will be pretty cheap in comparison.

I don’t know that this loss is ratings is the announcement of the death of Live to Dance, but it certainly proves one thing for sure. Paula Abdul clearly didn’t have the much of an influence on the success of American Idol.

Ok Dancettes, that is all for now!! Have a super weekend! ;) xxx

Pure DWTS – New Years Dancing Media

Just a few things to share with you on this day before New Years Eve. First up, Cheryl Burke is interviewed by CBS Sunday in San Francisco on her dance role in “Forever Tango”. Luis Bravo (the creator and director) is also interviewed. The clips of Cheryl dancing look fantastic.

From the Bay Sunday facebook page, here the two are again;

Louis posted this picture on his twitter of himself, Jay D Schwartz, Karina, Jonathan, and Anna in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico celebrating Anna’s birthday at the Casa Dorada Hotel. The four dancers will be performing for the The Barefoot Formal NYE Event on New Year’s Eve. What a beautiful place to spend the holiday.

Speaking of holiday, Maks and Derek are having the time of their lives. Maks has been travelling all through out Europe as most of you know who are following him at Twitter. He’s been posting pictures every time he changes destinations. Rumor has it that Derek has been in Europe as well and is now in S. Africa. Other than this tweet, nothing can be verified and this is all we have from him. Heidi HELP!! *cries* lol (Heidi: LOL – a number of fans have been photographed with Cheryl Cole in South Africa and they all said Derek is with her – it’s all over twitter now. Poor Derek, breaking some Cheryl fans’ hearts – they turn ugly when that happens. LOL)

Hey everyone hope you all have had a great Christmas … My belly is full how’s about yours .

From all the reality Shows this past year, who was the judgiest judge or crankiest contestant of the year? Well, TV Squad has picked Bruno as one of the crankiest judges. You can see who else made the cut and why at the link. (personally, I would have chosen Carrie Ann over Bruno as most cranky!)

Michael Bolton Demands Apology from ‘Dancing’ Judge: On ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ judge Bruno Tonioli called Michael Bolton’s jive with Chelsea Hightower the worst “in 11 seasons.” Bolton was stunned by Tonioli’s harsh tone and felt the Italian judge “let everybody down,” including his 90-year-old mother, who was sitting in the audience. “You heard the tone. Even Len [Goodman] stopped him and said, ‘That’s inappropriate,’” he said. “I think he should apologize publicly and he should be reprimanded for it.”

Ok, that is all for now. Happy New Year Everyone and don’t forget to dance like there is no tomorrow. ;) xxx
