We wrote to Tristan too and here’s what he had to say about the show and being back….
Tristan to PureDWTS: Hi Lisa, thank you. Things are great. I love being back in London and really excited about the upcoming season. All the partners get revealed today, so, we won’t actually start rehearsing until after the weekend. But, as always, I’m really happy with my partner and łooking forward to getting going- we have a great bunch of celebs this year and I think the audience are going to love the show as much as we are.
I think we will too!! Yay!

ETA: The official site of Strictly Come Dancing is releasing video of the Launch show. Here’s the opening and pro numbers. MORE HERE as the show progresses!!!
ETA2: More additions for Gleb and Tristan. Gleb’s Intro as a Pro is AWESOME! He lit the place on FIRE in my opinion.
For those following Gleb Savchenko and “Strictly Come Dancing” this season, we asked him how he was feeling about living in London so far and doing “Strictly Come Dancing”. Below is how he replied back to us…
Gleb to PureDWTS: “I really enjoy London and really excited for the new series. I don’t know who is my partner yet, but we all find out this Saturday. Everyone is really awesome and cool here, I don’t feel like I’m a newbie, but feel like I’ve been doing it for many times, may be its my International experience from before doing the show in 3 other different countries.”
He’s the “International Dancing With The Stars Pro” for sure! And right after he replied to us, he met his partner. See this instagram and keep scrolling for more afterwards….
A video posted by Gleb Savchenko (@glebsavchenkoofficial) on
Exciting. Let’s do this!
Also, OK! Magazine has a special feature up on Gleb today in getting to know him better. Below is a take from the link. I love that he’s not a party guy and he keeps his private life with Elena to himself, but, says he’s very happy. #AwwwwSweetMoment
2. Twerking’s not for him
Despite being amazing at all types of dance, one he admits he can’t do is the twerk. Shame! Read more..
Hey All!! Give a PureDWTS hearty welcome to Nathan from the UK!! Nathan will be guest blogging for us weekly about “Strictly Come Dancing” this season. Below he introduces himself and writes of the differences between our version and the UK’s version of Dancing With The Stars and what we can expect. Nathan has a unique charm and a UK sense of humor. So, watch out! lol THANK YOU, NATHAN! We’re looking forward to your fun blogs every week for Strictly Come Dancing and here’s to Saturday’s Launch Show!
So, Erm, Hello. This is my first ever blog so treat me well you lot haha. I am Nathan, 21 and I am a dance addict. Oh wait …this is Pure not Dancers Anonymous. haha Although Pure is sometimes as good as Betty Ford’s. Some of you may know me as @thengp12 on twitter or as Nathan UK from the comments section down the bottom. I have been a Strictly fan for what 11 years now, since about half way through series 1. I have been a DWTS fan ever since I saw Jennifer and Derek’s Paso Doble on a channel called Watch. This is a channel in the UK that used to broadcast DWTS from seasons 9 to 13. So I will start giving you a flavour as to the couples I have supported on DWTS over the seasons:
Season 13 JR and Karina
Season 14 Katherine and Mark
Season 15 Sabrina and Louis then Apollo and Karina then Melissa and Tony
Season 16 Zendaya and Val
Season 17 Jack and Cheryl
Season 18 Charlie and Sharna then Meryl and Maks
Season 19 Sadie and Mark and Alfonso and Witney
Season 20 Noah and Sharna
Right onto my real passion…Strictly come Dancing! The only DWTS I get to watch on my TV. Unlike DWTS, SCD does not find ways to make me psychotic haha.
So why am I here, you ask? Vogue has allowed me take over Pure once a week to do a Strictly blog. Ooo how exciting. I plan to do this every on Wednesday or Thursday. This is my final year at the University, but, I WILL MAKE THIS WORK. FOR THAT I HAVE THE POWER. 😀
So what are the differences between SCD and DWTS?Read more..
Being there is some interest in following US Dancing With The Stars pros Gleb Savchenko and Tristan MacManus, we’re planning to cover ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this season. Every Saturday (like we did with Dancing With The Stars Russia last season) we plan to post videos and photos of the show and then we can discuss it if you like. To get us geared up a little, below are some photos and video coverage of the Strictly Come Dancing Red Carpet Launch in London last night. Stay tuned as Nathan is writing us a guest blog on what we can expect. Also, Gleb has sent us a special statement. We’ll be posting those things soon!! 😉 From all of your loving fans from the US and abroad, go Gleb and Tristan!
They got one season to show us their stuff as a pro – and then we never saw them (as a pro) again. They’re the pros whose tenure on DWTS was woefully short, and for some of them, we wonder if things had been different if they had gotten a different partner, or had a bit more experience, etc. etc. etc. But I keep seeing a few names in particular that seem to pop up in the comments section, and it got me thinking: is it time for TPTB to revisit some of these names as pros again? Let’s hear what you think – which one of these one-and-done pros was your favorite? And which one would you like to see as a pro again?
For me, it was a no-brainer: Sasha. I think the dude’s only shortcoming (no pun intended) is that he’s simply too small in stature to be a suitable partner for the bulk of the female celebs that get cast. After seeing how great of a substitute partner he was to Nastia last season, and how he does whatever is asked of him without complaint – I’m convinced that we could see AMAZING things out of Sasha as a pro, if they would only give him another shot. I hear the Olsen twins are short…and not really up to much these days 😉
Oddly enough, the other pro I found myself curious about was Anna Demidova – I remember that she actually was quite good with Michael Irvin, and seemed to be a teacher that was very good at communicating with and motivating her partner. Found myself thinking of Gleb, too – he may not have really shined terribly brightly with Lisa, but once he moved over to DWTS Russia I think he really hit a nice stride. Would he be able to hang with our pros, though? Who knows…
Here we are again!! It’s about that time of year, folks.
And, as usual, the pros that I don’t want to be in, are already in. Or in Derek’s case….mostly in. He’s been telling fans in Meet and Greets that he’s likely going to be on but doesn’t want to confirm in case something happens to change that. DWTSGossip says that he did indeed say yes to this season – but as she correctly pointed out, he’s said no before and it turned into a yes. But, this is Derek’s life right now (many, MANY irons in the fire) – he’s not doing it for PR, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen. Drives me crazy. I’ll be writing a blog soon on PureDerekHough.com about my Meet and Greet and how he answered a particular question I asked him that bodes very well for his future.
Val has also said he’ll be back and, as reigning champ, that’s no surprise. He also doesn’t seem to have the options that Derek does. I also will be curious to see how much they pimp and manipulate for him and his partner, now that he actually has a MBT. This could be one of the more interesting things about this season – if their behavior toward him changes, now that it’s mission accomplished. Someone please explain to me why Sharna or Emma don’t get the pimpage treatment?? Their social media accounts can’t touch the men’s, but still.
What about Mark? I expect him back as it helps his music career, and now his studio, for him to be on the show. I think it’s about time for him to have another shot at the MBT again – it’s not like he’s been handed ringers the past couple seasons (unlike some), he’s just been surprised and fortunate, like Derek has in the past. But I haven’t seen any talk from him on the matter. Read more..
This week Elena Samodanova and Gleb Savchenko joined the Afterbuzz TV gang to review Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Week 8! It was so cool to get a perspective from Gleb and Elena being they have danced and/or judged in other countries (here, Australia, India, recently Russia…and soon the UK). I found them fascinating with their knowledge and insights. They were refreshing and articulate with their reviews and thoughts of each couple. I especially loved how Gleb and Elena praised Sharna and Derek for their choreography. Gleb even called Derek “extraordinary”.
-Note that Gleb and Elena are only in Los Angeles for two weeks. Next week, Gleb plans to take his DWTS Russia partner Adelina Sotnikova to Dancing With The Stars on Monday and Tuesday. So, look for them in the audience.
-Elena also talked about judging DWTS Russia and what it was like to judge Gleb and Adelina (wouldn’t she make a cool judge here? I love her!).
– Gleb also talked of doing Strictly Come Dancing this Fall in the UK and then they are returning to back to Los Angeles. Gleb said he hopes to dance in Dancing With The Stars Season 22 here.
-Also note that Kristyn said Kym Johnson won’t be dancing on our version of Dancing With The Stars next season. She is going back to Australia to judge.
Lots more below. Excellent show with a lot of cool information. Let us know what you think as always….
ETA: Part of the video below has been edited. Not sure why, but, during the live stream when they were talking about the Derek, Nastia, and Sasha’s trio, Gleb again mentioned Derek’s musicality in his choreography and how he can create around the song(fast and slow) and that you don’t see that level of choreography very often because you have to be “extraordinary”. So, keep that in mind while you listen.
ETA2: You can listen to an audio version of the entire show (unedited) at this link. The part that was missing in the video below can be heard at the 42:14 mark. Thanks to Angie for letting us know.
ETA3: Kristyn tweeted there were “transmission issues” and that’s why they had to edit the video. You can also listen to the Podcast at iTunes.
